I cannot recommend Dr Werthman enough! My husband was referred to Dr Wethman by our IVF doctor. My husband and I were looking to have a TESE procedure performed, which there are only so many doctors who do them in California! Scheduling a consultation was an easy process and I believe about $150-300? I can't remember exactly how much but it was in that ballpark range. His staff was very friendly and kind, they made us feel at ease. The actual consultation was great. He took the time and answered all our questions well, examined my husband, and we got information on how much the procedure would be/how to schedule it. We had to coordinate the TESE on the same day as my egg retrieval. My egg retrieval got scheduled pretty last minute due to my doctor wanting to wait for the perfect time and at the same time, Dr Werthman had a sick staff member who normally coordinates the surgeries. Despite some initial miscommunication, Dr W and his staff made sure to get the surgery scheduled on the right day despite the minor issues and handled it very professionally! As for the TESE, Dr Werthman was able to retrieve enough sperm to fertilize my 15 eggs as well as 4 more vials for the freezer just in case. We ended up with 2 PGTA normal embryos and could take comfort in the fact that having 4 extra vials meant my husband will never need another fertility surgery. My husband was supplied with a few items to help him heal after surgery (ice packs, jock straps), prescription for pain, and informative care instructions. He healed pretty quickly (1-2 weeks) and the scar is minimal because it was a microsurgery done very professionally! Dr Werthman also called that night to make sure my husband was feeling okay and even asked how my retrieval went. He really went above and beyond to make sure we felt cared about. Now I am almost 11 weeks pregnant with our little miracle baby! If you need a vasectomy reversal, TESE, or other male fertility procedures, I highly recommend seeing Dr Werthman. This office was great...until the procedure didn't work. Then we couldn't get calls returned or answers. The doctor was very callous and told us to "just do another round of IVF," even knowing that our first round caused a severe injury and we had paid so much for his services and wasted an entire year to see if sperm came back. The 99% success rate is very misleading. He considers any sperm ever at any time a success, even if it's just a few and nowhere near enough to get pregnant. If you want kindness, go elsewhere. read more

Because if you are someone going through years of infertility, then I'm guessing you know that this can be a very frustrating, depressing, lonely, and polarizingly emotional experience. At least that is how our six years of infertility went. We now have two wonderful kids The fact that we went through six years of infertility and now have two wonderful kids (and a third on the way). And the truth is a large part of this is because of Dr. Werthman Knowing how those six years affected me and my wife, the fact that I have a chance to share information that helped us, I am hoping it can help others as well which is why I am irked that my review is filtered as unrecommended. I seriously and honestly think had my wife and I gone through this 10 years ago OR had we not found Dr. Werthman, we would not have our children today. We went through multiple IUI and IVF, we even used HRC in Pasadena (we live in the Pasadena area) After our first two IVF (with HRC in Pasadena) we decided to look for someone new and went to Dr. Boostanfar in HRC Encino (I have written a review for him too) In conjunction with that, I went to Dr. Werthman on recommendation that there were some relatively new advances in possible "guy issues". As it turns out, someone had told us that Dr. Werthman is an expert in this field and made these discoveries (I believe sometime mid-2000's). I haven't verified that yet, but that being said, without Dr. Werthman's help (and Dr. Boostanfar's help) we would not have our family and I shudder to think where my wife and I would be. With Dr. Werthman's expertise, we found I had an issue. I got a surgery and our third IVF we had our best quality of embryos we'd ever had and from there we got a beautiful little girl. When it came time to try for a second, I consulted Dr. Werthman again, had a different surgery, and we had an even BETTER quality of embryos. And from there had our handsome little boy. Not only that, from that pool of embryos for our fourth IVF we even had two left over to freeze. We had never had any to freeze. We chose Dr. Werthman after realizing how lucky we are to have a doctor like him in our virtual backyard. People fly in from other countries to see him. There's a reason he charges what he charges vs. the guys in Vegas who will give you the surgery for 3K, and it's because if there is any medical way to get you the results you want, he can do it. He pioneered an alternative method for a vasectomy reversal, by the way. If things aren't going to work correctly (he can test at the beginning of surgery), he will perform the alternate method. I decided I didn't have time to mess around finding out if some other surgeon's work would succeed. We had to get it done right the first time around. I had a very unpleasant experience with Dr. Werthman. He was recommended by another doctor I trust so despite the high price charged ($400 - paid upfront!) I went to see him. He did all the tests and, during the consultation was cold but polite. I saw the staff whispering behind Doctor's back a couple of times... as if they were afraid of him. But the real problem came later... Dr. Werthman sent to my original doctor my lab results and his professional report but to our surprise they were completely contradictory! My original doctor was embarrassed with his recommendation and apologize in Dr. Werthman's name but the damage was done. We share the incoherence with Dr. Werthman but never got a response back (not mentioned the money). If my original doctor was not paying close attention to the report and lab exams, Dr. Werthman mistake could have cost me and my family way more than $400. Stay away! I hope this review helps anyone looking for a vasectomy reversal. I began my journey January 2020 to find a doctor with the experience to handle my reversal. I called and met with a few different doctors who handled this type of surgery. I wanted to find someone with experience and someone I felt comfortable with...someone who wasn't going to blow smoke up my butt and give it to me straight. That's when I found Dr. Werthman. I checked him out online and decided to make an appointment to meet with him. I showed up to his office and was greeted by Shay at the front desk who was very nice... kind of gives you that encouraging mom love in my opinion. Dr. Werthman came out and said "Hi my name is Phil ! Nice to meet you!" Gave me good vibes right away. He went in to detail about the process and told me since I was young "32 years of age "... had a child ... and a reversal less than 2 years before I would have a really high chance of getting my fiancé pregnant as long as she was healthy on her end. So I scheduled the surgery first week of March right before Covid hit ... Surgery ran as smooth as it could go. The healing process sucks but only for about 2-3 weeks. Due to covid he required a negative test for a follow up which I also thought was really good ...about 3-4 months later I went in for my follow up exam/semen analysis. I was at a normal count of someone before a vasectomy. So we knew we were good and it worked ... but you always think in the back of your head the what if's and if it really worked since you are just reading results. Due to covid my fiancé and I decided to wait a little longer to try for a baby until we were more clear on what this virus really had in store for all of us. We decided to start trying in November... we bought an ovulation test on Amazon and Bam... first month of trying we are pregnant !!! Hello ppl.. he is the worst doctor we have ever met, He has no clue of what he is doing me and my husband went to him after getting a recommendation from my gynocologyst from day one he was writing expensive tests for us and never took any insurence, even after an array of test and consultation he said he has no idea about wat our problem is and need to do an operation to see wats happening inside my husbands body, and then 'MAYBE' he can give a diagnosis , he has tonnes of degrees hanging on the walls of his office which I now think are baught rather than earned. We had a really bad experiance with this guy who just ate our hard earned money, forget about a solution he never gave us a diagnosis. Do not fall in his trap. read more

I have to say, we neither anticipated for the process to be A: So easy B: So quick My partner and I decided to reverse my vasectomy and make a attempt at naturally expand our family, we where fully ready for a year of trial before having success. Contact with doctor Werthman was easy, I like straight to the point people and that is exactly what we got. He carefully explained all possibilities of what he could find during surgery, the ease of the procedure and the percentage of chance of success for each one. My husband over two years ago went in for a vasectomy reversal. Dr. Werthman did the procedure and apparently it was successful. What wasn't clear to me was that every three months my husband should be coming in to get tested. After two years of trying and Dr. Werthman's first suggestion was for me to go to my doctor and get checked (which I did) then he checked his notes and realized that my husband had not being tested for he semen levels in two years. This is where I became upset with both of them .....first the accusatory tone that this may be a fault on my end....(hence get checked by my doctor) and secondly that this "doctor" who was paid well over $8500 CASH because no insurance covers this had not bothered to follow up on his client. Trust me I wasn't happy with my husband either. Also until this time I was never made aware that a vasectomy reversal has and never will have, as great a quality of sperm as a man who has not gone thru a vasectomy. This also is something men should be aware of as well as women who get involved with men who have had a vasectomy. We go into the back office after two years of trying, walking past the "Hall of Success" or "Walk of Shame" if you haven't conceived......this too I struggle with his professionalism as we are dealing with a medical condition and the fact that many people will not reach success but we literally have to go thru a hall of baby photos to meet with him. I wonder if at a paraplegic doctors office one has to stroll thru a hall of pictures of people successfully walking to get to the back office? Keep in mind this is a medical condition that may not get reversed. Dr. Werthman give us the results two years later, two years of trying to conceive that indeed there is no sperm. I was in shock! He then proceeds to tell us that we have to do it again and the success rate is not as good as the first...needless to say I am also two years older....and he said he would discount the procedure that well, he didn't successfully do in the first place. I asked him how much would it be discounted and he said he didn't exactly know.....that's when I really lost it. Because who knows besides him? He said his secretary would sit down with us and know the process. When she came in she gave us a quote of over $10,000!!!!! I let her know this was supposed to be discounted but she then proceeded to tell me that it is more difficult a surgery and therefore more expensive. Once again I went back thru the Hall of Shame to remind Dr. Werthman he said it would be discounted...and he talked with her and they came up with a number. We did the procedure and I am not pregnant ...it has been 8 months. When my husband's second surgery was over ....he called me but was calling the WRONG NAME out so no one was responding....finally I went up to him and asked how my husband was doing.....and he said that is what he was calling for was to me to come forward.....but he didn't even have my name.....he kept calling a completely different name! I have no idea where he got his medical license from and or where he learned bedside manners or professionalism......what he has got going for him is that there are only a few in the state that do this procedure. read more

When we had appointments we always arrived on time yet we had to wait for him for at least 20 mins. Those appointments were not helpful either and waste of money. All I can say of Wow! I went this past December to inquire about getting a Vasectomy reversal done. It was something that my wife and I talked about doing but were skeptical about it being 100% effective since I had previously gotten my Vasectomy almost 9 years ago. I went in, scheduled, and got the reversal done a few days before Christmas.
