The menu offerings were not extensive yet the options to pair with the "long list" of bespoke craft cocktails were perfect. The assorted shapes, sizes and shades of olives were my first delight. I wound up with a charcuterie-esque combination of sour dough that included a creamy cheese smear along the inside of the dish, a prosciutto-like ham, and the most unexpectedly delicious bowl of warm, smoky carrots in a romesco. Not a drop got left behind thanks to the sour dough. Whatever music was playing in the background, added to the swanky vibe. This is the kind of gem that is meant to be savored by every one of your senses.

My husband and I have now had two uncomfortable experiences with the general manager, Angelo, at Phillippe Chow Nashville regarding their dress code. Before these incidents, we had been patrons multiple times since the restaurant opened. Spending top dollar and happily tipping staff generously. On those visits we wore the same type of clothing we typically wear; our company hoodie and casual pants, and were always welcomed and seated without issue. Angelo was not present on those occasions. Their dress code states: "Fashionable attire encouraged. Kindly refrain from athletic wear, hoods, beach attire, flip-flops, or excessively revealing clothing." That dress code is only listed on the website. On one visit, I entered the restaurant wearing a hoodie and was warmly greeted by Angelo and offered a table. I asked him to wait because my husband was parking the car with valet. When my husband walked in moments later wearing the same hoodie, Angelo immediately told him he could not enter because of the hoodie. I pointed out that I was wearing the same thing and had just been welcomed in, but he still refused to seat us. We complied as their dress code states no hoods, but again he was ready to happily seat me until my husband joined, and multiple patrons in very relaxed non fashionable attire. We left and had to pay for valet. Hoping it had simply been a misunderstanding, we returned recently and made a point to dress up more for dinner. Unfortunately, the same manager again refused to seat us, stating my husband looked like he was "going to the gym," while several other guests nearby were wearing jeans, T-shirts, and similarly casual clothing. Two young white men even walked by us wearing the exact same style of pants as my husband and were seated without issue. I am white and my husband is Black, and the inconsistency in how the dress code was enforced in these situations felt deeply uncomfortable and concerning. When we questioned the inconsistency, Angelo told us that if we did not share the experience publicly, he would seat us. He also said that if we did post about it, he would respond saying we were lying. We ultimately stayed because we had already valet parked and were hungry, but the entire interaction was embarrassing and disappointing. We hope ownership reviews how dress code policies are enforced so guests are treated consistently and respectfully. We also plan to share our experience on our social media platforms, as my husband is a well-known producer with a wide network, and situations like this deserve to be addressed. It is also clear in all the manager responses how he negates the customers experience and has no compassion or empathy. He also tries to stand on the dress code when meanwhile people are going in and out in the same attire. read more

Just had an incredible experience at Philippe Chow! The Peking duck was absolutely divine - so tender it practically melted in my mouth. No wonder it's center stage on the menu; it's definitely the star of the show. The BBQ ribs were a tad dry for my taste, but I'm willing to give them another shot. Maybe a drizzle of some chasu sauce or a touch of sweetness would take them to the next level! The baked Alaska (not really but their version of one) was also amazing honestly they could have left the cotten candy as my GF was little disappointed, reminds me of the marie antoinette from Barton G. We had two different servers, I unfortunately can't remember our first one's name but she was the one with stretched ears that normally wears her hair up.
