FILET MIGNON WITH BEARNAISE and Loaded Baked Potato

Food and service were great! I had the filet and loaded baked potato. Steak was cooked to perfection. I tried the desert special, which was the Sundae Stack, and it was delicious. Snickers, Oreos, vanilla ice cream, and caramel sauce.

J's is heavy in my rotation for good drinks and solid food. We dined in and our service was friendly and quick. The vibes are always right so if you want bar seating with people to chat with it's the perfect spot or seated dining to enjoy a more intimate experience again it's the perfect spot. My chicken was meal was filling and the potatoes were sooo delicious! I had more than enough to take home. We also had the queso and it was the perfect start. The cocktails are always delicious and have the right amount of kick. I would avoid the fruit tea but everything else is chefs kiss and the same with each visit.

The ambiance is very inviting and relaxing. It makes you want to stay awhile and chat before and after you eat. Food is always amazing.

Great spot to grab a bite! J Alexander's is one of my favorite spots. Love this location on West End. The service is always friendly from the time you enter the door until you leave. They have a great menu with many tasty options from salads, sandwiches, steaks, etc. My favorite is the spinach con queso appetizer. Also, you can't go wrong with any salad. All the food is beautifully plated to add to the appeal of the meal. The inside hasn't changed much. They have a great fully stocked bar/bar area, great wine list and space if you dine alone or in a group. The dining room has ample booths and tables. The inside is a little dark and cozy. They have great seats by the window to get sunlight. The menu options are moderately priced. If you have a sweet tooth, I recommend the carrot cake. Definitely worth a visit.

We had a reservation for a Saturday night and were thrilled to be in the space because it's always good! And then...we got a new server. - The food was just decent. My strip was slightly overcooked but the Mac was phenomenal - The vibes were quite louder than normal but okay - Our starters and food came at the same time which was disappointing. Generally, it was meh. I'll try again on another day because it's so abnormal.

I'm really sad that this is a chain, as I tend to stay away from those. We were staying near Vanderbilt and walked over for drinks and dinner. First, understand that their cocktails are automatically a double. I really enjoyed my Makers Mark and Diet Coke, which even had a dried orange slice. It was perfect. I opted for their Thai salmon special for dinner, but subbed broccoli for the pilaf. The salmon portion was generous and perfectly cooked - I would totally get this again and again! My friend ordered the crab cakes and this was my only sadness: the crab cakes were AMAZING and contained very little filler... I really wished I had ordered them also. The service was friendly and pretty quick for a Saturday evening and the noise level was not too loud to carry on conversations, even in the bar. If I ever return to Nashville, I will be back.

Very Best Chocolate cake, is exactly that! Great for birthdays too!! ; )

We returned to one of our favorite places and find that the service continues to deteriorate. We waited 10 mins for greeting, another several for water (which was never refilled) My ahi tuna salad was fine but has less greens and a mountain of the crunchy things. I had to pile them on the side of the plate. Also they serve it with more dressing now so beware. Everyone's food was OK. When our waitress finally returned to prebus and ask about dessert, I wasn't even able to order my coffee or customary chocolate martini before she was gone again. All of our drinks were dry at this point but never refilled. We had even put them all near the edge of the table. So the glasses got taken away. We took it as a sign to go so we did just that. Disappointed and not worth the $210+ tip for dinner for 4.

J's is always a good idea! This was my first time trying Steak Maui and the flavor was great, but the ribeye cut wasn't the most tender. I ordered it medium expecting it to be the perfect temp, but I probably will stick to the filet

It is tucked in a neighborhood in the West End, and most people were surprised we found it or had heard of it as non-locals. It is a very popular spot. We arrived 20 minutes early and snagged the last parking spot in the lot behind the restaurant. Eric R. wanted to sit outside, so we were directed to wait at the bar until a table opened up. I got the cucumber sage yuzu spritz mocktail, and Eric R. got a local amber beer. Our table was ready within 10 or 15 minutes, so we migrated to it for dinner. Our server was helpful in providing recommendations. We started with three shareables: the mussels in lemongrass serrano beer broth and grilled bread, tempura long-stemmed artichokes on Calabrian chile mascarpone, and the lamb lollipops with pearled cous cous. I tasted the lamb, and it was heavenly, like melt-in-your-mouth tender but with a lot of caramelization. That was really Eric R.'s choice so I let him eat the majority of it. I really enjoyed the mussels and the artichokes! Everything was hot and delicious. I was sipping broth with a mussel shell when the bread ran out, and the host came out with more bread for us! It was so good. We asked to see a dessert menu. Eric R. had a tough choice between carrot cake and blondie with caramel ice cream, but was steered toward the blondie and did not regret it. I asked what the house made ice cream was for the day, and it was coconut matcha with a white chocolate shell topping. That sounded so perfect, and it was AMAZING. The evening was beautiful, the restaurant was lovely, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious! That is the answer!

The goat cheese with grilled peaches was absolutely amazing--great flavor and easily the highlight of the meal. If that were all we had eaten, I would have given this restaurant 5 stars. Unfortunately, everything after that was disappointing. I ordered the filet, which was one of the most expensive entrees on the menu, but it lacked flavor. The carrots were bland, and the potatoes were hard and also lacking in flavor. It was especially disappointing because everything was plated so beautifully. The cocktails were okay--beautifully presented, but not particularly memorable. I may come back and try a different entree, but I'm not sure the food was impressive enough to make this a must-return. I did not try the other items my friend got.

They walked me through the lentil walnut and cali burger and how to make those soy-free (remove the coconut cheese/queso). They also walked me through other options and were happy to do so, which can be rare. The Cali Burger had amazing spice and the sweet potato bun was soft and delicious. I really really wanted to 5* this place!!…read more We came extra excited for one of the fully vegan restaurants in Nashville, and the food didn't disappoint, but there were some notes that brought it down to a 4. Ambiance - casual. Maybe more casual than what we expected, but it's still a good place to come with friends or for a relaxed meal. Service - It was okay. Our server was really quite fantastic, but as the restaurant got busy, it became apparent that they may have been a bit understaffed. It might have been also a matter of expectation, but the food did come out much slower than we thought it would - took roughly 30 min for the food and 15-20 min for the dessert after we'd asked for it. At least everything was hot, which was really nice. Food - as far as appetizers go, the cheese board was quite satisfying! They had two clearly fresh and homemade cheeses and a bunch of other additions to the board that were fantastic. The Loc Mac and Chz was also really quite great and we kept on thinking about it well after the meal. The mushroom/walnut spread did overtake the cheese flavor a bit, but it did mix well overall. The Katsu tofu addition was not so great. No really marinated, just breaded/fried, so that was a bit disappointing. The cheesecake was fairly mediocre. The flavor of the actual cheesecake was very bland, and even the caramel and nuts were not enough to save that - it felt like it was prepared for fruit toppings in mind, not for more subtle flavors so that is one big edit that needed to be made. The gimlet and nojito were solid too We'd certainly come back if we were in the area
