I had very high hopes for Philippe Chow, but unfortunately the experience was incredibly disappointing, especially given the price point. Our party of six was hosting an out-of-town guest and chose Philippe Chow because of its reputation. We dine out frequently and were looking forward to what we expected would be a memorable evening. We ordered the chicken lettuce wraps, hot and sour soup (they were out of wonton soup), beef satay, shrimp satay, walnut shrimp, Peking duck, Shanghai noodles, pork pineapple fried rice, shrimp fried rice, several orders of spring rolls, and Chilean sea bass. The meal started off poorly. The lettuce wraps and hot and sour soup were so unappealing that we sent both back. The Peking duck, one of the restaurant's signature dishes, was carved tableside but was served cold. The accompanying pancakes were only lukewarm, which made the dish even more disappointing. The bright spots of the evening were the noodles, satay, spring rolls, and fried rice. Those dishes were enjoyable and were the only items that met our expectations. To make matters worse, we never received the Chilean sea bass we ordered, which may have helped redeem some of the evening. For a bill approaching $700, the overall quality and execution were simply unacceptable. The most telling part of the experience is that after spending nearly $700 on dinner and another $50 on parking, we left the restaurant and went elsewhere to eat because we were still hungry and unsatisfied. That should never happen at a restaurant operating at this price point. What makes this even more frustrating is that we specifically chose Philippe Chow to entertain an out-of-town guest. Instead of showcasing a great dining experience, we were left embarrassed by a meal that was overwhelmingly lackluster. Sadly, our party will not be returning. With the restaurant's reputation, pricing, and prestige, our expectations were high. Instead, we left feeling disappointed, frustrated, and honestly a bit disgusted by the value received for what ended up being a $750 night.

If you're in the mood for upscale Asian cuisine, this is the place to go. The atmosphere was nice with views of the water, there was a jazz band playing that night, but not overly loud, and the staff and service were very attentive. The dumpling sampler was delicious and had some of the best veggie dumplings I've ever had. The inside had crunchy veggies instead of a bunch of mush. The chicken and shrimp ones were good too, but I liked the green one the best. I know, right? The Sea Bass was out of this world outstanding. It was sliced into thin pieces and served with two sauces. This fish was melt in your mouth delicious, so whoever prepared this knew what they were doing. And how in the F did they slice that so perfectly? With a diamond knife? The only miss was the Hot and Sour soup... It looked amazing, but alas, it came out and it wasn't hot (temperature). I was exploring more museums the next day and didn't want to explore every toilet in the place. I had 4 or 5 cocktails (lost track) and all were delicious and unique. The pacific old fashioned was my favorite, but I'd order any of them again. It was a fun walk back to my hotel, and I slept great that night! I think...

I would like to say I will definitely come back and try here again, but nothing we had was great. What stood out was the service. Everything was so nice in the restaurant and the servers were top notch. Also the chef came out and was talking to everyone. As far as food goes nothing was super special or stood out. It could have been from anywhere to be completely honest. But once again nothing stood out at all. That said I do want to come back for the jazz on Sunday. I will keep expectations in check for food

Really enjoyed my experience at Philippe by Philippe Chow. Came for dinner and everything from start to finish was solid. Camilo was our server and he did an amazing job. Very attentive, personable, and made sure we were well taken care of the entire time. Also want to highlight Jorge, who helped clear our table. He brought such a great energy and genuinely made us smile. You can tell he enjoys what he does. The manager also stopped by and was very kind and welcoming, which we appreciated. We ordered the glazed spare ribs, sesame chicken, and nine seasons spicy prawns and everything was delicious. Well seasoned, nicely plated, and good portion sizes. The vibe here is really nice too. It has an upscale but still comfortable feel, and even the bathrooms are thoughtfully designed. Definitely a place I would come back to.

I was so excited to try this restaurant and ended up feeling underwhelmed by the experience. First, the food was lackluster. Trader Joe's has better--and way cheaper--dumplings. The lettuce wraps were great, though! Our entrees were extremely overpriced. $34 for a mediocre chicken dish that was listed as coming with walnuts but came with peanuts? That's both misleading AND potentially dangerous! Our server spent the night apologizing for slow food and service. I love the Wharf and love dining out, but I'd encourage you to get cheaper take out and just sit outside.

I really do love this place. My partner and I came back for Valentine's Day. We opted for an early dinner because we had events on Sunday. For the most part, we stuck to our favorites! The espresso martini is divine! She ordered at drink that came with a side of champagne, the Porn Star Martini, which was also very good. I started with the chicken satay which is my favorite of all time. I just can't get enough of if! She ordered the calamari. It's not the usual shaped calamari, but tastes just as good. We went on to order Chilean Sea Bass, Bronzini, broccoli, and bok choy. The food is always cooked to perfection. The vegetables are perfect. And of course, the red velvet cake for dessert. It's almost as good as mine. Ha! Our server was on point. It was Valentine's Day so they had a 90-minute dining rule in place. We actually went over, but nobody tried to put us out. I like the vibe better during non-holidays (fabricated or not), but it was still a good dining experience. The ambiance was nice and love was in the air.

Went here with my best friend after work we wanted to have a nice meal at the Wharf and we were in the mood for some Asian food. We saw that Philippe Chow is top rated and decided to visit. Our waiter Andre was very nice and had great recommendations for appetizers. We decided to get the scallion, pancake and fried pork dumplings. Both of them were delicious. I really enjoyed the scallion pancakes and the vinegar sauce that I came with. He also suggested that we get two entrées to share because the food is family style but medium sized. We decided on the sesame chicken and the filet mignon with green beans both of the dishes were absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the sesame chicken. I would definitely get that again. If you're a beef person, I think the filet mignon is the best way to go. They also gave us a complementary bowl of white rice, which was nice surprise. I like the restaurant in the ambience of it was cool and the music outside was popping. I do suggest getting two appetizers and two entrées, if you're with two people. They also have an option for you to get a family style meal for $95 for a party of four or more.

Update: we just tried their happy hour they call "dragon hour" and everything was spectacular. We got lychee martinis, chicken + beef satays, shrimp dumplings, and shrimp spring rolls. The satays were better peanuty and oily so I didn't care for them but the rest of the food was amazing. I'll definitely return for their happy hour. I also love that their happy hour lasts longer than other spots on the wharf since they're open till 7

Truly an unexpected gem. I did not know what to expect for such a large restaurant, but the food was definitely worth it! Huge portion sizes so we ended up sharing the entrees and appetizers. Great tasting food and the drinks were scrumptious! The service was outstanding as well. The Wharf can be very busy and overstimulating, but Philippe Chow was a great escape!

Amazing location right on the waterfront (Washington DC, Warf). Parking garage a stones throw away from the restaurant. We arrived on Friday about 3 pm, and after about an hour the place was almost packed with patrons. The server was excellent. Overall, the food was good..however, the fried beef was chewy. Although I've heard of Philippe Chow, I hadn't dined here before. For my first dining experience of 2026, they earned a spot in my heart and a five-star review. Honorable mention to our server Victor, the manager, and everyone who made our experience stellar. They were very responsive and corrected any missteps without having to mention it. They do have a bar, and if you'd like, you can dine or just enjoy drinks. This is a good place for solo dining, date night, and group celebrations. Reservations are highly encouraged. Do know that if you order the duck, there can be a 45-minute wait before it is served. Coat check is available. A parking garage is available nearby, as street parking is rare. When the weather supports, there is outdoor seating with fire tables and a scenic view of the Wharf. The appetizers of calamari and wontons (veggie, chicken, and shrimp) were great. My kiss of the dragon sidecar was very refreshing and worth ordering again. Dining here with others presents an opportunity to share and explore the menu. I found the shrimp fried rice and broccoli à la carte items to be enough for the table, with leftovers for the next day. The crispy duck entree comes with thin wraps. You can layer the accompanying scallions, celery, and plum sauce for a customized bite. None of the items we ordered required additional seasoning. Everything was hot and well presented. I look forward to recommending and dining here again.

I took my parents to Philippe Chow for Christmas Eve for the second year in a row, and it is officially becoming our holiday tradition. We started at the bar, where Blanca was amazing. She made a great espresso martini for me, a perfectly crafted Woodford Old Fashioned for my dad, and a delicious chocolate martini for my mom. We also enjoyed the chicken and beef satay, vegetable dumplings, and spicy edamame. The ambiance was beautiful and festive with a stunning Christmas tree, great holiday music, softly dimmed lighting, and a cozy view of the fire pits outside. For dinner, Chef David stopped by and the food truly delivered. We ordered the crispy duck, spicy lobster noodles, lobster fried rice, and stir-fry vegetables, and finished with the Nutella beignets. Everything was flavorful and filling. An amazing experience all around and we already cannot wait to come back next year. Highly recommend.

Philippe Chow shines during Restaurant Week and anytime of year - with menus that feel like a genuine value--not a consolation prize. The bar service is always excellent and well-paced, setting the tone right out of the gate. The ginger-spiced wonton soup was fresh and warming with just the right bite, the fried rice was loaded with crisp, fresh veggies, and the dumplings were... well, sticky in that indulgent, comfort-forward way you secretly want them to be. Save room for dessert--decadent, polished, and a strong finish to the meal. Elevated Chinese cuisine, thoughtfully executed, and especially worth a visit during Restaurant Week. A solid win at the Wharf.

The vibe in this place is top tier. Our server Daniel is THE MAN! He was helpful and predicted our needs before we could even order our food. The manager Adonys came to our table and made suggestions for dessert. We were already stuffed to capacity but I needed to try the dessert. I came here with my boyfriend for a staycation at the Wharf. We decided to try Philippe Chow since it was close to the hotel and we haven't had fine Chinese in a long time. When we arrived it was right before 5 and we got seated. They have a HH between 5-7, I'll get to why this is important shortly. We got the dumpling sampler, filet lomein, and the sesame chicken. Let me say the lomein is 55$ and was mostly tasteless. The sesame chicken and dumplings were nothing to write home about. Also the waitress didn't tell us there was even a HH until we heard another table bring it up. As we were there, the place started getting more occupied.. and the waitress literally just stopped coming to our table. Not because she was more busy but she also found time to chit chat with other waiters. She eventually dropped off a dessert menu and didn't show up until 20 mins later and we had to ask for her. We did get dessert and drinks which were really tasty, which is why I'm giving 2 stars. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend this place. They charge a 20% gratuity charge and the staff seem to know they are getting paid either way, and it shows in their nonchalant service and demeanor. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

DC sets the bar low for quality of dining out. This place is not terrible but after a mewl last night I am just now starting to recover from a wild 24 hours of throwing up. this place is more interested in the appearance and their bizarre crowd of diners than the quality of the food. I had wonton soup and chicken with rice last night for about $60 and it sucked.. contrast I had a similar meal in Chinatown New York for about $20 and it was outstanding. Let me break it down 1. Host stand - Upon arrival we checked into a very crowded chaotic scene I gave my name for my 7:30pm reservation I was told by the host they are waiting on a table. 20 minutes later we were seated. And then another 15 minutes before we saw a server. 2. Bathrooms - one of them were flooded and nothing was being done about it. After a few complaints they just put a wet floor sign verses saying the bathroom was out of order. People would open the door and then immediately be mortified of all the water on the floor. Also my friends second trip to the bathroom there was no toilet paper she went to ask the hostess who took forever to arrive she ended up just getting napkins from the bar. 3. Drinks - Pricey and small. The issue we had over all though was my friend ordered a drink "neat" and said no ice just to be clear. They gave it to him with ice. He politely asked for the drink to be remade. They brought him back the same drink and just took the ice out. Which was super disrespectful. 4. Food - they also got this wrong they brought my friend his food and it was incorrect 15 mins later they brought the correct item. Then another 10 mins later they brought another one. Poor communication. The food it was ok. Nothing to write home about. The apps were ok better than the entrees. For the money I thought it would be better. Took forever in between courses. Filet mignon was chewy (rare disguised as tender) and overly covered in this soy sauce concoction. I had to spit it out in my napkin I could barely chew it. The broccoli tasted like water and garlic no flavor at all. Dry fried rice. 5. Server - This dude was terrible after coming over 15 mins after we sat to greet us. He took drink orders. Which took a while. After he took our food orders we barely saw him again Never checked to see if our food was ok. He had to flag him down to get another drink. He just didn't care he had too many tables. Also once I saw he slapped on 20% gratuity I see why he provided such lackluster service he knew he had a guaranteed tip. 6. Close out - 30 minute wait for check. Not just for us but the 3 tables next to us. We trauma bonded on the poor service and long wait times with the table next to us. 7. Ambiance - The music is so loud. I felt like we were screaming at each other the entire night. It's too much. 8. I was vetting this place for my moms birthday dinner but now I want to cancel the reservation. Overall I do not recommend. read more

We live nearby and decided to get the Peking Duck as take-out. It was excellent and made us want to try a meal in the restaurant sometime. The pancakes for the duck skin were the thinnest I've ever experienced, and we loved that -- just enough to hold the wrap but fully taste the other flavors -- so light and delicious. One aspect that impressed me was that the order also included the carcas/bones, which still have meat on them. That was an unexpected surprise and greatly appreciated, and would have to be specifically asked for at most places we've had Peking Duck. read more

This restaurant was so good. I highly recommend! I'm pescatarian and they had so many seafood options. Everything I had, I enjoyed. The lobster satay is amazing, as well as the prawns, and the Chilean sea bass. The waitress was very knowledgeable and everything she recommended was very good. I ascribe to the idea that man has free will and so that corresponds to me shouldering the responsibility for choices I make in life. To that end, I blame my self for staying at Phillipe Chow for a very mediocre meal. Listen, the place isn't my jam, but there were plenty of people with smiles on their faces snapping pictures of their dumplings and noodles, and I don't begrudge someone smiling more. I should have turned tail right away when I read the following words on the Phillipe Chow menu as I took a seat at the bar as a solo diner: "Phillipe Chow management reserves the right to determine if a guest needs to adjust their attire before being seated." I pride myself on being a snappy dresser, and only a couple hours before, I had been complemented on my outfit by a business colleague, but that sentence threw me off my pins. Was the manager giving me a side eye because my tweed vest wasn't necessarily blending with the hipness of the room? Again, I blame this one mostly on me...I really missed an opportunity to walk out and find a burger or something. But I finally got the attention of the bartender after a long time staring at a glass of water that had been set in front of me. The poor women was the solo bartender for the night, and she was clearly slammed, so I give her some grace for not seeing me for about 5 minutes. The meal itself gets a shrugging "meh" from me. I had the hot and sour soup, the duck dumplings, and the special spicy prawns. None of the dishes were bad, but I can't say that I remember them as anything more than modestly okay Chinese American food a day after my meal. I am going to give my bartender/server a shout out for doing me a solid when I asked after about 20 minutes of waiting for my main course, "Any update on the prawns?" and she had a look of surprise that they hadn't come out. She pushed through the order and it showed up a few minutes later, and then leaned over the bar and said to me, "Sorry it took so long, I've got that taken care of for you on the bill." A decent move for sure. Phillipe Chow seems like a nice place for others, but I'll call this a one and done for me. read more

My first time visiting Philippe Chow and I couldn't recommend this place more! The venue is GORGEOUS. And the service was impeccable; from the manager, Demir, to our bartenders, Gianni and Reda! The Cotton Candy Baked Alaska is a must have, as well as the duck spring rolls and shrimp dumplings. My favorite drinks were the Pacific Old Fashioned and Split King. I can't wait to come back! Absolutely amazing food and stunning location! I have been eagerly waiting , walking by every so often to 'see the progress' of the construction and we have not been disappointed! To start we had the chicken satay (yes, please!!) and the walnut shrimp which is one of the best prawn dishes I had in a long time. For the entrees we went with the Kung Pao Chicken, Crispy Beef and Vegetable Fried Rice. The Chicken was delicious, extremely tender, and full of flavor with the spicy glaze it had on. The Crispy Beef was also very good, quite sweet but we also thought we would've liked to taste the beef a little more since the crispy outside was masking its taste. The veggie fried rice was to die for!!! As simple as fried rice sounds, it is (at least for me) the most important part of a Chinese meal and it is hard to find one that is perfect. This was without doubt the best fried rice I had in years! The service was also very fast and professional. I have to go back (no doubt I will be back very often!) for the desserts and everything else on the menu. I feel that this is one of the restaurants where you cant really make a bad choice in! I don't review often but this place was abysmal!! I'm attaching the note I submitted to the restaurant via their website, I have yet to receive a response but it's been less than a week, so if I get a response I'll share that here too. The lobster was overcooked, the Chilean sea bass was sold out on the tasting menu we purchased for 8 people and we were offered salmon as a replacement. The two are no where near comparable. The server forgot drink orders and responded "I was dealing with some other things". We spent 1,000 and took about 10 boxes home and about 10 boxes ended up in the trash. It's was the worst way to celebrate my graduation and Mother's Day to the point that I paid my parents back for dinner out of embarrassment for the abysmal food and service. Oh and we had a reservation and still waited 20 minutes to be seated read more

Everything is perfect about this restaurant except the food. The food has no flavor. My guess is the calamari came already breaded in a box. The chicken lettuce rap has no spice or flavor. There is no dish so ready to carry spice than that. I ate there three times but won't again. Shame because the space and the service are five star. read more

I came here to celebrate my birthday with my husband. it was super last minute I didn't have a reservation and the hosts had told me they were fully committed, i got in touch with one of the managers there Sadi and SOMEHOW he made it happen. When we walked in our table was ready with a reserve sign on it. It really felt special. The food and drinks were amazing. Our server was very attentive. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. Nothing but good things for this Phillipe Chow DC! I was celebrated to this wonderful dining experience for my birthday, and the staff and service made it feel just like that! We were first accommodated with the seamless time change due to our late arrival. We followed their request to call if we were going to be beyond 15 minutes late. They pushed back our original reservation for 6:00pm to 6:30pm which worked perfectly for us, especially on a Friday evening. We were greeted with warm smiles and beautiful oriental gold decor. They sat us in a tucked away indoor seating area viewing the wharf's water. Even though we were away from the main crowd we were never forgetton. From our waiter suggesting great food options but never pressuring us to choose his way it was great. The wait staff was attentive to our needs before we even asked. We also had a couple guest appearances from upper level staff, Sadi and George sharing their hospitality. Partner and I had a reservation here for our anniversary which was great! The biggest downside to the restaurant was the seating being so close together. For this to be an upscale type of restaurant one would think you wouldn't be so close to the table(s) next to you that you could join in to whichever table you found the conversation to be the most interesting. There is more than ample space for them to remove every other table and still have a nice crowd of people in the restaurant. Just seems as though the goal is to squeeze as many people in as possible. I came here a couple of months ago when I was visiting DC and had the most amazing dining experience. The food was exquisite, the ambiance was giving, and the service was impeccable. I had a couple of the best espresso martinis I've ever had and for food I had some of their delicious lettuce wraps and the Wagyu Beef Fried Rice. I highly recommend these items. The food was very bad, I would say even for Chinese take out standards, this food was worse. There was a lot of sugar in the sauces, the recipes had very unbalanced flavors, and some of the dishes downright tasted bad. I would say only thing on the menu that tasted okay was the duck, and the cocktails. The host did not know their own prefixe menus, and basically tried to convince us their two main pre fixe menus did not exist, even though it's posted online. I tried the Moriawase after and told my server I wanted to add caviar if it was possible and since I didn't get any, I assume it is only an option for the nigiri/sashimi. Silly but no problem. I was still sooooo hungry I ordered a Surf&turf roll and it was less than appetizing. It had no flavor which was terribly unfortunate. I didn't make a review about the sake mixup or my server only to be polite but there are definitely low points, and those make the list. I hope it's better for everyone else!

A Dance of Culinary Highs and Lows at Philippe, Washington D.C. Rating: 3.5/5 If one was to embark on a gastronomic adventure, they might end up at National Wharf, home to the newest installation of the Philippe Chow empire: Philippe. The setting is suave, bordering on debonair, as if James Bond decided to swap martinis for mandu. The ambiance whets your appetite, promising a culinary performance worthy of a standing ovation. Our players for the evening were a well-versed wait staff and wine sommelier, presenting their food and drink recommendations with aplomb. Yet, their otherwise stellar performance was marred by the mysterious vanishing act of our Salt and Pepper Eggplant - a dish that, like a Houdini act, never made it to our table. The show opened with the Hot and Sour Soup, a melody of velvety flavor that left us clamoring for its missing partner in crime, the humble cracker. The Wok Fried Pork Dumplings and Green Beans in black bean sauce graced the stage next. While neither were the gastronomic equivalent of a show-stopping Hamilton number, they at least didn't hit a sour note. Next came the Scallion Pancakes, playing a convincing role of a pita chip in a Chinese delicacy's costume. But fear not, dear reader, for the Chilean Sea Bass then entered stage right, dressed in black bean and ginger-garlic sauce, stealing the spotlight with a dazzling flavor performance. The Peking Duck, all crisp and lean, was a solo act worth an encore. Just be sure to request the full ensemble, or the duck's darker half will retreat backstage prematurely. The Salt and Pepper Lobster duo and Red King Crabs were seafood symphonies in their own right, despite a few mushy notes from the crab section. Last but not least, the Nine Seasons Spicy Prawns did their best orange chicken impersonation, with a sweet and spicy tango that was lovely, albeit performed by noticeably petite prawns. However, throughout the performance, an unexpected antagonist made its presence known - the room temperature. Hovering around a balmy 75 degrees, it threatened to bring the curtain down on our dining experience. Our pleas to the stage manager, or should I say, Glen, were sadly unheard, making us yearn for an air conditioner's cool encore. In the final act, Philippe takes us on a rollercoaster of culinary highs and lows. Despite the standout performances and the suave setting, the temperature faux pas and the occasional service slip-up meant the final curtain fell a bit too soon. While the standing ovation remains elusive, Philippe could yet become a Broadway hit, if only they could iron out those kinks. read more

I visited this restaurant on Mother's Day expecting a refined, high-end dining experience, but unfortunately, the visit was extremely disappointing and fell far below expectations. While the restaurant itself is visually appealing, the overall cleanliness and service issues completely overshadowed the atmosphere. Upon being seated, we immediately noticed gnats flying throughout the dining area, which was very off-putting. To make matters worse, the silverware at our table was visibly dirty and still had food residue on it. The floors, walls, and mirrors throughout the restaurant also appeared unclean, with smudges, fingerprints, and visible dust that gave the establishment a poorly maintained appearance. The service was equally underwhelming. I would personally rate it a 4 out of 10. Staff uniforms appeared untidy, and employees cleaning tables were loudly discussing personal matters across the dining room floor, disrupting the dining experience for guests. As someone who speaks Spanish, I understood the conversation and can confirm it was unrelated to work. I eventually had to politely ask them to lower their voices. As for the food, the vegetable fried rice and lettuce beef wraps were bland and lacked flavor. The only standout dish was the Kung Pao chicken, which was enjoyable. Overall, however, the service style felt more "drop-and-go" rather than attentive or hospitable. By the end of the meal, I genuinely felt we could have had a more satisfying experience ordering takeout elsewhere for a fraction of the price. What should have been a special Mother's Day lunch instead became an experience we were eager to leave behind. To conclude the meal, the staff unexpectedly brought over two glasses of Prosecco that we never requested. My son had only been drinking Diet Coke throughout the visit and does not consume alcohol, so the assumption felt inappropriate and unnecessary. The restaurant manager, Sadi, and his staff were incredibly warm, joyful, and attentive throughout the evening. They checked on us frequently, making sure we had everything we needed--from fresh plates and utensils to replenished drinks. We opted for a four-course family-style dinner, and the staff orchestrated each course perfectly. The food was brought out at just the right pace, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed. Each dish was served at the ideal temperature, and the flavors? Simply exquisite. Every bite was a harmonious blend of freshness and boldness, leaving us raving about the food. I celebrated my birthday here a week ago and I have one word to describe the experience... AMAZING. I booked the semi-private room by working with Regina a couple months in advance. She provided menu options and even let me customize my menu with my picture on it. The service my party received that night was exceptional. Everything came in a timely manner and the food was delicious! I selected the Crown Tasting Menu which included Prawns, dumplings, a beautiful dessert spread, and many more tasty items. The waiters and waitresses were so nice! I could tell they were enjoying my party as well. The ambiance was perfect. In the semi private room they provide a music playlist to match your style and there wasn't any overflow of noise from the main dining room. If you're looking to plan a private dinner or just a fancy night out I highly recommend Philippe DC! For private parties please coordinate with Regina. She is so kind! I couldn't make up my mind on the menu selection and she was extremely patient. She really made my night spectacular. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that this restaurant is serious about both flavor and atmosphere. I came here for dinner and had a pretty enjoyable experience. The lychee martini different from others I've tried and I wasn't a fan of the cream in it, but the Paradise Bay cocktail was sweet, fruity, and refeshing. The truffle pork soup dumplings and Beijing chicken were decent but not particularly memorable. My favorite dish was the crispy beef, flavorful with great texture. The salt and pepper prawns were tasty but slightly overpriced. The cotton candy baked Alaska was a highlight, both delicious and fun to watch with its flaming presentation and sparkler. The restaurant has an elegant and stylish atmosphere. Although there's a dress code, we called ahead and were allowed in with workout clothes, possibly due to the snowtorm that day. Still, the ambiance and decor make it a place worth dressing up for. I had the Kung Pao chicken, which didn't impress me much. However, I enjoyed the lettuce wraps (thought the meat could've had more texture) and the shirmp dish. Overall, the food was good, the setting was beautiful, and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more dishes. read more

Philippe Chow is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, so I was thrilled to see that the DC location lived up to the hype. I visit the downtown NYC spot so often that I recognized the manager, Sadi (hope I'm spelling it right!), which was a pleasant surprise. Sadi was just as professional and welcoming as I remember--making sure everything was perfect and that we had a great experience. The DC location itself is gorgeous--spacious, yet still with the same Philippe vibe I love. Our waitress was fantastic, providing exceptional service throughout the meal. To top it off, I was treated to a complimentary glass of champagne to celebrate my birthday, and my daughter had a blast with a plate of cotton candy to keep her entertained (such a thoughtful touch!). The only reason I'm giving it 4.5 stars instead of a full 5 is that they didn't have green prawns on the menu, which is a personal favorite of mine from the NYC location. That said, I'll definitely be back soon. Overall, an amazing dining experience, and I highly recommend it! read more

Stumbled upon a NY favorite here in DC at the Wharf. What a nice surprise. This restaurant is gorgeous. A bit more upscale in look than the other locations and of course, on the water. Big win for date night. Staff was amazing. from the door to the server(s) and their assistant team we were treated incredibly well. Servers were knowledgeable and super friendly. Food came out quickly and we were impressed with each course. The Duck and Cilantro dumplings were so tender and flavorful. The Calamari also beyond tender. We had the Peking Duck for the main and wow. It was tremendous. The desserts could use a bit of help as they seem like an every place type of dessert. I'd like to start off with, I don't dine at the wharf because of the terrible parking options but I was in the area and decided to walk down by the water where I found Philippe. I was greeted by the manager and host. I was seated without a reservation and from beginning to end the service blew me away I wish I got the bussboys name because he was such a sweet heart the manager. Adonys and my serverDaniel really made this quick dinner into a five star experience. As recommended by the Manager have the spicy pepper mignon it does not disappoint.
