The drinks were so good, I had the lychee martini, it was just the right amount of strong. My friends had the Prosecco and Pearl Sangria. One of the Managers, Saudi was very hospitable. I rarely feel Compelled to write a review but I have to put this out here. Phillipe Chow DC should be absolutely ashamed for the Valentines Day experience. I have eaten at Phillipe Chow before and it was a great experience, so I was excited to come here for VDay. I was saddened to see that they oversold tables and understaffed the restaurant on this special day. Our reservation was at 8pm. We were seated at 9:20pm and it took the waiter until 9:45 to ask us for drinks and our appetizers. We left after midnight. The main issue is that they made everyone prepay and there were no refunds in addition to a crazy and shameful wait time. Straight greed! Looking at the reservations the day before they still had plenty open when they clearly were overbooked. There was one waiter in our section with about 10 tables. She looked overwhelmed and I felt for her having to handle angry people who all waited 1hr+ to be seated -- with nowhere to sit in the waiting area. We were originally told the wait for the reservation would be 30 mins and that we'd get a text. The text never came. We waited 1 hour and 45 mins to be seated and have our order taken. We strongly considered leaving multiple times while waiting. But again everyone prepaid and it was chaos. Next time Phillipe should not require prepayment and have a set number of reservations, also call in more staff to help. They had more people pouring water than waiting tables. On top of that we were promised a luxury experience and champagne upon being seated. We had to ask for the champagne and it came in a plastic party city cup that looked like it had been used, washed, and provided to us. I wish I took pics of the crowd. At the end of the night they said they ran out of takeout bags and offered the table next to us a cardboard box (like what you use at Costco) to take their food home. Wild. Let's just start with ambiance of this amazing restaurant by the Philippe chow from the outdoor decor of the panda and the restaurant name in gold front it definitely stands out as we walked into this space our eyes were amazed like wow this place is stunning from the dim lights to the chandelier light fixtures and darkish blue walls to it's host stand and bar area which was a phenomenal bar setup from the chairs being angled out to the right side a full variety of branded liquors and the cocktails omg I totally recommend the what if ?I'm a huge fan of any drinks with mezcal but hands down this was one of the best mezcal cocktails I had as well as the Pacific Ocean old fashioned was good as well they even had the letter P engraved in the ice cube also had the split king cocktail it was more on the sweet side but a good cocktail to enjoy now let's talk about the dishes now I love places that portions out the food for family style serving which gives us the opportunity to try a bit of everything here we're my favorite dishes sweet &sour chicken ,the chicken satay with peanut sauce soo good the salt &pepper tofu amazing highly recommend the Peking duck spring rolls also recommend the dumpling sampler which included shrimp,chicken,&mushrooms also the filet mignon & green beans was deliciousness the meat was nice and tender not over cooked the sauce was amazing as well as the green beans highly recommend we paired it with the shrimp fried rice as well nothing to special about it and lastly mr.cheng's noodles was personally not my favorite dish as well as the bake Alaska the cotton candy and presentation was fantastic thou and last but not least the service from the hostess to the bartenders to our server and the manager sadi was overall amazing he check on our table a couple times which is much appreciated as well as the bussers they were on point with our change of plates and clearing our tables as well as refilling our waters I will definitely be back to this spot whenever I'm in dc overall read more

We had an AMAZING dinner here. The food is very good. The atmosphere is romantic with dim lighting. I liked it. HOWEVER, my boyfriend left his card and didn't noticed for a day or so. He thought he left if there but was unsure. He called during hours of operation and off hours. I did as well for days. No one answers the phone. The name on his card matches the name on our reservation. There was no call, text, or email that it was left. Terrible service. I went here for dinner with my sibling, and overall we enjoyed our meal here. The reason for the four-star review is because of the wait time with a reservation, as well as the overall set up of the restaurant, which was very tightknit i.e. the seating, and the tables are very close together, so if you're trying to have a conversation with someone you might have to yell a little bit or speak very loudly. Our server was very attentive and checked on us, as well as the surrounding tables multiple times during the meal. I had the shrimp spring rolls, shrimp dumplings, the bok choy, and the nine seasons spicy prawns. My brother had the honey glazed spareribs, the Beijing chicken, and shrimp fried rice. Everything we ate there was delicious. My brothers only complaint was that the shrimp fried rice was $22 and it felt like a side of shrimp fried rice, but it was still really good. With the spring rolls, they give you a sweet chili sauce that tastes so good and does not resemble any sweet chili sauce that I've ever had, but it tasted just like sweet chili sauce. I didn't particularly care for the sauce that came with the shrimp dumplings, but pairing the dumplings with the sweet chili sauce was just fine. For the main courses, the portions were about what you would expect. I also like the fact that, after we had our appetizers, we were provided with warm towels to wipe our hands with. We definitely left there with leftovers and full bellies. Overall we spent about $280 with tip including the drinks that my brother and I got. We will definitely be back to try some of the other dishes that are there as we definitely had a wonderful experience. read more

The customer service was mediocre and the atmosphere was extremely noisy. New wharf restaurant alert! We decided to pop in to Phillipe Chow one evening sans reservation (crazy, right?!). For a Wednesday at 8pm, the place was packed and lively! They did not have any availability for us so we sat at the bar. As someone in a wheelchair, I was happy to learn that their bar had a lowered counter. The lowered counter is apparently never used, however, as it took about 10 minutes for the staff to figure out how to get it down. The bartenders are incredibly accommodating and welcoming. We ordered the veggie fried rice (delicious!), salt and pepper tofu (way too salty!), shrimp fried rice (yum!), and salt and pepper cod (pretty good). The prices were reasonable, the cocktails are decent, and the ambiance is lively. It definitely didn't feel like I was walking into a restaurant that has only been open for a few weeks. Everything seemed to run smoothly and besides the bar situation, I didn't notice any kinks. Ooh the servers are all super stylish! Love that for them. read more

Just had an incredible dinner at Philippe Chow. Happened upon this spot by accident as it is at the far end of the Wharf. The restaurant is stunning with most of the restaurant with water views. Although not the busiest as we dined early the staff were amazing. Food came out quickly but not rushed. Cocktail list is ok but suited our needs. I am a bit surprised to the experience being so good as most places on the Wharf seem to be just ok and nothing more. We will definitely be back!!! read more

Came here during DC restaurant week. The decor is elegant and sleek - not super modern but still pleasing to the eye. This is a place to see and be seen, make sure to dress up! I understand that the restaurant is fairly new and it was quite busy on a Monday night due to restaurant week. However, service was extremely slow and abysmal. I felt bad for the wait staff though, they may have been short staffed or just tired. We came in at 8:30 and an hour and fifteen minutes later had only received appetizers; my friend's drink hadn't come out by then and we were not even able to catch the waiter to put in orders for our 2 mocktails. The food made up for the poor service though. Woooooooweeeeeee. Everything we had was delicious. I thought the fillet mignon + green beans that I ordered would be boring but it was DELICIOUS. The beef was so tender and delicious. We loved the red velvet cake too. My friend noted that the Chilean sea bass lacked flavor however. We also got mocktails which were very tasty. Philippe was pretty good to me. My favorite thing was the Peking Duck and sweet and sour chicken. If you get the duck make sure you order it as soon as you sit down because it takes 45 -60 min to prepare. We also had dumplings, lo mein ($50 lo mein that is, it was good but not worth the price), crispy spring rolls. Restaurant was really nice and quiet , waiter and staff were also good. They are a little overpriced but their location is at the wharf sooo.... Other than that they have happy hr and I definitely want to check them out again. read more

As soon as I walked in, there were patrons talking loudly to others on speaker phone, patrons standing around waiting to get seated. Not a great first impression. As soon as we were seated, two different individuals asked us what type of water we prefer, which indicates poor management. Our main server was not very engaging, felt like a transactional interaction. Asked us what we wanted to drink besides water, then took our entrees. When entrees came, no one arrived to take our empty glasses, was barely room on our table. Server did not ask how food is and whether we need anything with our entrees. Terrible service, lack of dress code enforcement (so many people in jeans and sneakers), and pathetic quality of food. Far better restaurants in DC. We had a large dinner here recently and I was blown away by the poor food quality. The service was phenomenal but for what ended up being $320/ a head in a family style type meal. NO WAY. The majority of the duck was so overcooked and dry that it sat untouched by most of 12 guests. Everything else, was average to below average. Dumplings were tasteless. The chicken Satay tasted like a gravy covered chicken finger from Waffle House. It seems that a lot of the folks go here for the scene and ambiance which is definitely cool. But if you're a Chinese cuisine die hard like myself and the majority of the people I invited, STRAY FAR AWAY. When the bill came, I was literally embarrassed to tell everyone the dollar amount after the quality of the food. I had heard so many rave reviews from those that had frequented Chow's in other cities and was unfortunately just so disappointed. Someone once told me it was the greatest meal they had ever had. I assume it has to be that the apple has fallen far from the Tree in Beverly Hills and not all locations are this bad. Again, if you want to be seen at what's portrayed as a high end restaurant for the scene, drinks and ambiance, go for it. But if you seek food quality over those attributes avoid at all costs. AVOID. My wife and I paid a visit to DC over the weekend, and decided to go to Phillipe Chow based off of reviews we saw online. What an experience!!! From the minute you walk in, the aesthetic, the vibe, the drinks, the staff, and the food, everything exceeded all our expectation. The manager Adonis was the highlight of our experience. He made us feel safe and seen. Every suggestion he made was a hit. He was honest and very through. I appreciated that he walked out with the server to our table when the food was being delivered. He made sure we were complete satisfied. He recommended probably one of the very best Espresso martini I've ever had in the DC area. 10 out of 10. As a New York, we take fine dinning very seriously and Phillipe Chow definitely lives up to its name. I know where I will be dinning when i visit the DC area. :) read more
