My husband and I had to take a trip to Philly this past weekend. He took me to this thrift shop and it was the highlight of my trip. It is two floors of so many cool finds. I could have spent the whole day there. I ended up leaving with a fabulous French Louis chair, Kate spade leather purse, absolutely beautiful silver jewelry and custom made tango heels from Buenos Aires. I wish this thrift shop was in New York, I would be checking it out every weekend. Also staff is super helpful! read more

I want SO BADLY to love this place, but it's a bit pricey, and they never have anything that I want to buy. It's not really the sort of place that you get a bargain. It's not a place with anything that is especially unique. It is organized quite well, and the staff are always helpful and friendly, so I always pop in when I'm in the area. I'm determined to find something that I want to buy, because I want to support them! A few times I did see some nice retro furniture, but it was always priced high, and it was always already sold. Maybe I've just been unlucky, so I'll keep coming back! I love the way they display their stuff! It's worth a trip just for that! And, again, the people working there are totally awesome! read more

I LOVE PAT! Philly AIDS Thrift is my favorite thrift store in Philadelphia. The tree out front has stuffed animals instead of fruit - if that's not a good omen, I don't know what is! You can find everything here - clothes, bags, furniture, kitchen stuff, posters, etc. The prices are always fantastic. There is SO MUCH stuff, but isn't the whole point of a thrift store to dig around in order to find the treasure? It's well-organized and the store is laid out in a logical way, so it's not too difficult to find something amazing. My favorite finds are a Wonder Woman mug for 99 cents, and a vintage Burberry trench coat (with some minor imperfections) for $18. I also have to mention the dollar room. There's a little room in the back of the second floor that has clothes and books and all items in it are $1. You really can't go wrong for a buck, after all. My friend found a beautiful geometric skirt and I got a super soft black GAP spaghetti strap. No matter what your style, you'll definitely find something cool at PAT for a steal. Plus, if you're bored on a rainy/snowy day, it's a cool place to just wander around for a few hours looking at things and sitting on really cool chairs. read more

I LOVE thrift stores so this was my Mecca. I spent entirely too much time in the $1 section. I am a teacher so I am always looking for cheap books for my classroom. In the dollar section, I found several awesome books including Twilight! Score! My students love that book! I also found an Eddie Bauer zip-up jacket for $1 that I was actually planning on turning around and selling at my future yard sale for $5 (yay! profit!) but my husband took one look at it and decided he wanted it. Oh well, no profit made but a happy husband made. I also bought two dresses but it's getting a bit chilly to wear them. I'll post pictures! If you are looking for ANY holiday decorations, they have them! If you want household items (yikes! 8 people coming over for wine and you only have 2 wine glasses?? PAT!), they have them aplenty. Overall, I am OBSESSED! Lastly, they do have a room where they offer free AIDS testing. Please do not walking by this room and quip: "oh, second-hand AIDS testing, HAR HAR!" You are not the first one to say this. It is not original, nor is it hilarious. Your friends might laugh because they find the whole topic of AIDS, and the, yknow, possibility of DYING thing uncomfortable but this joke makes you seem insensitive, close-minded, and kind of rude. The fact that this place is trying to help people by providing a FREE service is wonderful. Your douchey jokes, however, are not. I miss PAT deeply. To the nice guy who let us pee- thank you. I love this place. There is so much to see sometimes your eyes need to slow down to survey everything. I love a place that I have to comb over two or three times to make sure I noticed everything. There are a ton of rooms and each one has different stuff. I love the book section upstairs, where I got a book on Thai cooking for $2.00. I also grabbed some costume looking clothing ( to wear during the day) that I'm happy didn't look so great because it was a little pricey. There are some great pieces to be had here, don't get me wrong, you just have to search. If you like records, they have a room of them, just for you. There is truly something for everyone here. This place is so well-stocked from wall to wall with just about anything you could imagine. I'm so glad I finally got the chance to check it out. I spent more than 30 minutes just looking at the shelves of books, and ended up getting a few for just 29¢ each. Their clothing ranges from gently used to still having original tags--you have to do some digging to find the good stuff though. I was really impressed with their kitchen section too. So much glassware and appliances, and they're all at pretty decent prices. They also have furniture, picture frames and artwork, shoes, Christmas/holiday decorations, retro finds, and an extensive collection of CDs, DVDs, and records. And everyone that works there is so nice!! I will definitely be visiting them again. read more

It's a thrift store, so it can obviously be hit or miss, but I have found some treasures here. They tend to be a little more savvy than some thrift stores, so designer goods are priced appropriately, though sometimes there's an underpriced gem. But my favorite things are their customer service, their offbeat signage and social media and, of course, their mission. They are wonderful about taking donations too. When I have a whole car full of stuff to donate I've had two or three volunteers come out to help carry stuff into the store. This place is my dream thrift store come to life! How do I describe it's awesomeness? Well, for one it is covered in complete kitsch. It's also pretty big and great for browsing for long periods of time. I'm probably in this place more than I care to admit but they have a great vintage clothing selection and I'm really amazed that it's not picked over like other stores. I always leave with something amazing. I recently scored a vintage book about French New Wave films for $3, several amazing 1940s dresses under $10, vintage 60s bowling shoes and some wacky sewing supplies. I also found a Paint it Black shirt there once for $1 and it basically made my day. They have really funky furniture, a great selection of books and plenty of fun things to gawk at. And the staff is super cool. They have a room full of records but don't expect to find anything good. It's been picked over a thousand times. Unless you're totally into 70s gospel records made by people with Dolly Parton hair. Also, whoever writes the funny comments on the price tags, I love you. read more

This place is amazing! It is a total treasure hunt in here with different things to see on every shelf and corner. I ended up getting a gorgeous Talbots red wool coat for 18 dollars here but I could have gotten so much more. I love anything that supports AIDS and it is easy to spend money here. It looks like they get a lot of great donations because I found wonderful clothes, antiques, books...just about everything! Fun and crazy thrift store in Queen Village, it's surprisingly large, with a second floor and room after room of clothing, shoes, accessories, books, and furniture. Be prepared to do some digging, the product assortment is a vast range, but you can definitely find some treasures and hot brands! Great prices, and even a $1 room! Proceeds benefit AIDS research, and there is an HIV testing center on the second floor. The visual merchandisers have a fun time making crazy outfits for the neon store front mannequins and the group of dressed bears that welcome you to the second floor. Worth checking out! Also lots of thrift stores in the neighborhood, fun to make a day of hopping around to all of them. read more

My favorite thrift shop in Philly! The staff and volunteers are all humble, welcoming and glad to help. They have everything from women blazers, men's denim, books, bags, furniture, kitchen supplies, etc. They are always having sales too! Today, January 2nd they were having a 25% off the whole store (even sale items.) So there is always something unique to find. And truly vintage pieces too. Philly AIDS is a great place to shop and volunteer! This two-story shop is jam-packed with odds and ends, which makes it easy to get sucked into treasure hunting. Things are divided loosely into sections (kitchenware, music/electronics, chotchkies, clothing, etc.) but you may find what you're looking for in a random display! There is an entire land of $1 items and super-cheap books that is worth checking out. I have been shopping at this place for a few years now and recently began volunteering. Absolutely wonderful place to come if you are looking for kitchen finds in particular. Why buy a new serving try from Target when you can get one here for $3.99? I also found a beautiful glass vegetable tray here for $7.99. Guaranteed that would run you at least $25 at any major store. They have lots of wine glasses, canisters, jars, plates, mugs, you name it. A few months ago I got a ceramic butter dish and a canister for holding my espresso beans! What I also like about coming here is wandering through all of the rooms and feeling lost. There is something immensely nostalgic about losing yourself in things that other people once loved. To me, that makes it more special when you buy it. I also feel better about saving the planet a bit and not perpetuating the endless stream of crap that places like Target and Amazon market to us. This is my favorite thrift store EVER! I'm not even from Philly, but every time I'm visiting I make sure to stop by here. The workers/volunteers here are just so friendly, which is a rarity for thrift stores apparently. I love thrifting while also supporting a great cause at the same time! There's always a bunch of clothes, books, etc. on sale in the Dollar Room and they always have 3 colors on sale ranging from 25%, 50%, and 75% off! I've scored several clothing items from here that still had tags on them and my boyfriend even scored a 'Sonos Play:1' speaker for $40 while it's $199 on their website!! This is a gem in Philly and everyone should at least stop by. :--) read more

Coolest thrift store I've ever been to by far. Very quirky and fun. It's just so big and cluttered, but in a good way. Could spend hours here exploring all the nooks and crannies. They have a great variety of vintage and contemporary clothing. Love dollar land! Found a chic black bcbg top there. Another time, I found a really cute vintage floral dress for 4 bucks.
