The pretzels from the oven come out right there in the gift shop on the conveyor belt. They even gave us a fresh pretzel off the line. So delicious! I bought about $20.00 worth of pretzels for family and friends back home in AZ/CA. The 2 ladies in the shop were very kind and helpful. They even gave us the tip to look in the 3 back windows of the building on the way out. We did, and we saw about 10 people hand rolling pretzels. YES....they hand roll each (big) pretzel. What attention to detail! Simply amazing. Must stop if you are back in Central PA.

They're all certified Kosher, too! When the hubs and I knew we were going to be in the area, we made sure to call ahead to make an appointment to take one of their free tours. Our tour guide was Ms. Vera, and she was super informative and sooo sweet! We got to see the making of the dough, how it was kneaded by the machines, how each pretzels were all made by hand (super impressive!), how they were put in the oven and baked, and then saw how the pretzels were seasoned and packaged in the bag. We also had the chance to try a hot-out-of-the-oven extra dark pretzel - super crunchy, but a little too 'burnt' for me, but it would be super delicious dipped in hot spicy mustard or some type of cheese! The hubs and I bought a bag of extra salted pretzels and the garlic, so can't wait to dig in! Just note that this is a true pretzel factory, very no-nonsense, and even the sign is hard to miss. Even though it's a small operation, this pretzel shop truly brings joy to our community. They also offer delicious breakfast sandwiches, pretzel dogs, and various tea and coffee options. I was lucky to get all three of my pretzels from the oven. I especially like how the cinnamon sugar pretzel is topped with icing instead of dust--it's much easier to eat and still gives you that sweet, satisfying treat. The staff are quick and friendly. If they're baking a flavor, they'll let you know how long you'll need to wait for that fresh batch. There's plenty of seating, both inside and outside on picnic tables, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy.

Many showed expiration dates of only a few weeks. It turns out that even though the store is literally attached to the factory, they have no control over freshness and are treated like any other store like Giant or Speedway. So if you're in the mood for snacks, there's no reason to drive to the factory store.

They're not the highest quality, but the variety is unbeatable. I may or may not have had quite a few of the tiny bags of mini cheese balls that are given out to my kids during Halloween. I tell myself the cheese balls are small and so are the bags, so it's all good. Is it really all good though? I dunno, but I then get some veggie stix to balance things out and it's healthy again. The price points are good too. Utz chips and snacks are all less expensive than bigger national brands and sometimes even cheaper than store brands and they're all probably made from the several same factories anyway. All in all, I like Utz and all that they offer and hope to visit this factory store one day. But until then I'll be buying their yummy snacks at my local grocery stores. Happy snacking folks!
