A few homeless folks were meandering out front but all they did was ask for money. Staff was very friendly. Small joint but a lot going on. I got it to go and then opened it in my car and a moment of "YIKES!" Came over me. So I decided to get up to Camden area and ate in a quiet parking lot. It was amazing. I stopped by this place to get a break during a road trip from FL to WV. It's not right off the highway, but it is 10 minutes or so from 26. It's in a little plaza, easy to find, and there is ample parking. The staff was so incredibly friendly. In fact, the customers sitting there eating were also friendly and did not hesitate to tell us their favorite menu items. I got the Korean Philly and my boyfriend and son both got the original. Everything was incredible. Meat was perfect. Bread was on point. Portions were large. These had all the flavor. I'll definitely have to make it a point to stop by on my next road trip. who'd of thought you could find a truly authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwich in Orangeburg South Carolina? I am here for COVID-19 business for a month or so and I've been having a hard time finding good restaurants. Yelp does not seem to be much of a thing here, and the staff do not live in the area. So I'm at a bit of a loss. I was surprised when the Philly Special restaurant popped up on yelp. I figured, let's give it a try. I'm a cheesesteak snob, I really like the "wiz" (cheese sauce, not sliced cheese) and a lot of places don't serve it. Not so at Philly Special, not only do they have the wiz, the vegetables steak and bread are all amazing too I like the Golden Eagle sandwich, which has onions, mushrooms, and red peppers on it. I always get it "wit wiz" (Philly for "with onions and cheese wiz") but you can get it with sliced cheese if that's your jam, the sandwich is not truly authentic with the extra veg, but I don't care I like it. Now mind you, this place is not much to look at, but you don't go to Philly special for the ambience. However, I have to say, and I am a customer service pain in the ass, the service at this restaurant is top-notch. I'm always greeted with a big smile, hello, and helpful comments and tips on the menu. Couldn't be better. They treat me like I'm the only customer. So, if you're into a good steak sandwich, give this place a try. It might be a little bit of a drive for you in Orangeburg but it's well worth it. Enjoy! read more

Let me preface this with I am from up north, and definitely miss good cheese steaks. This restaurant is absolutely amazing not only is their food phenomenal, but they are some of the kindest people I have ever seen who run a business! I was there doing photos for them, and I had to photograph 20 of their items while they're come to find out that they are donating everything that they cooked to a elderly home next to them and while I was there, the owners gave a homeless man outside of meal as well on top, of which they also made me a meal as a thank you for doing the pictures! I've had my authentic fix of philly cheese steaks in Philadelphia and I grew up in NY. As far as Orangeburg goes though, this place is the closest thing to the original authentic deal. I ordered 10 subs for my employees to thank them for hard work and all of them loved it. I come here once in a while whenever in the mood for a philly and my wife and kids love it too - which normally is a hard task To satisfy in one go. So I give this place a +1 on my recommendations. Both sandwiches were really good, and the angry chicken had a nice spicy kick to it. The restaurant is a local dive in a small non-descript strip mall in Orangburg, about six minutes off of I-26. They had a steady flow of customers. I had to walk through the kitchen to use the one restroom and saw they were using Amoroso rolls for their cheesesteaks.
