Philly steak and Gyros Carytown 8/3/21 1:30pm Greeted immediately with very friendly staff. Ordered lamb gyro combo. They informed me they would bring it out to me in about 10 minutes. Not many people inside but quite a few people came and went with takeout. Food came as promised. The gyro was good, fresh ingredients. FF were eh but that's me, I'm pretty weird about my ff. Overall it is a good spot. But then I went to the bathroom. the bathroom was disgusting! They were not busy and the filth was definitely not from 1 day. Urin on the seat, film on the mirror looks like for weeks! The floor was definitely really dirty, and the trash was full. (Photos) Had I went to the bathroom first, I would not have eaten there. That might be what I need to do from now on. A real shame because I did enjoy my gyro & the customer service, but I probably ate some dirt too I will not be back. The bathroom killed that deal.

Stopped in to get a grilled veggie wrap and a Philly steak wrap. The service was fast and friendly. There are several booths and table for dining in. Even though I got mine to-go, the camera had to eat first!!! I LOVE the veggie wrap!!! So much flavor. The Philly steak wrap was good but the veggie wrap stole my heart!!! What have you had from here??

You know that whole sentiment of not knowing what you have until it's gone? Yeah, that's how I feel about cheesesteaks. Ever since I moved away from the Philly area, I've just been craving crusty, fresh bread, well-seasoned meat, and, overall, outstanding sandwiches. This place missed the mark big time. I ordered via UberEats. The best part was that it only took about 40 minutes to receive my food. I was in a bunch of pain, so I ordered comfort food...a chef salad, chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, and a 'steak Philly' without tomatoes. I guess the meal(s) would have passed if I was drunk. But I was not drunk. And they were all boring and average. The salad was the most creative, and even that failed with sad deli meat twirls and too many onions masking everything else. As for their namesake cheesesteak? Hardly any meat, limp bread, could barely even taste the cheese. Sigh. I wish I liked this spot more. I've found a few stellar sandwich slingers in RVA so far...but, from my experience, this is not one of them.

I came here on New Year's eve for a quick bite because I was craving some burgers and fries. I found easy parking in front and decided to give this place a try. It's definitely a hole on the wall kind of restaurant. It's something not very noticeable. Upon entering the restaurant you'll notice that the decor is bright green color and purple, that has wooden booth stool and just a very vintage feel to it. Kind of strange with a classic nice portrait plastered around the walls, that doesn't match the theme they are trying to put. I was the ONLY one here, probably because everyone has other plans. You walk to the back to order your food. On the menu they had burgers, Philly cheese, and gyros. I wasn't sure what to get so I asked the worker there what was a popular choice and he told me the Philly cheese and gyros. I ended up ordering the Philly cheese with a meal that comes with fries and a drink and he asked what toppings I wanted on my Philly cheese and I told him everything. I got my food to dine in and it was nice of them to bring it to me at my table. The fries was nice and hot, but was thick, bland, and soft. Not very crunchy or had much flavor. The Philly cheese was good but I didn't like how the bread didn't taste fresh or how little meat was added to my sandwich making me taste more bread than steak. I didn't realized it until I was halfway done that the only topping I got was lettuce and there was no tomatoes, since I asked for everything topping. I definitely wasn't feeling the Philly cheese steak here and I don't understand how they can mess up on my order considering I was the only one here. I hear the lamb gyros here is better tasting so maybe I'll give that a try next time. But I wasn't satisfied with what I got. The employee here was very friendly, but the food here was okay from what I ordered.

If you want to Phill up in Carytown, this works. False advertising! But for real this time. Came to get a Gyro, but they don't actually have a big spinning Gyro thingy. So their Gyro is not really the kind of Gyro that I was led to believe was the Gyro they were selling as a Gyro, on Gyelp. Their sandwiches are pretty good though, so there's always that.

Great lamb gyro with Tzatziki sauce. This is a place where most people get take out, uber eats, etc... so don't be surprised if there aren't people sitting down eating. I've been coming here for almost three years and it never disappoints. Fries and burger are meh, but that's not what they are known for. Overall the gyro and falafel are the best on the menu in my opinion and only $14 for both.

A solid cheesesteak all around. Bread was solid and meat was ok. Good enough to kill a cheesesteak craving.

We started by sharing a hot Mezze platter that included falafel, beef kibbeh, cheese rolls, brussel sprouts, and house-made pickles. For the our main course I had the beef shawarma wrap and my friend had the chicken shawarma wrap. Both were delicious as were the Za'atar fries. The wraps are large enough that we were each able to bring home a half of our wraps and fries. We learned on our visit that Natalie's has a new owner. We had selected Natalie's because they "believe in building and strengthening communities by creating spaces where people of all abilities can thrive and grow in the workplace." I hope the new owner will continue this mission.

It's a great place for a celebration or even a quick meal. We chose a variety of items to share - chicken Shawarma, brussels sprouts, eggplant fries, and baba ghanoush. Every dish was perfect and delicious! David was very attentive to us and checked back with us several times to be sure we were enjoying everything. When we mentioned that we were celebrating a belated Mother's Day and birthday, he was kind enough to bring us baklava! He also prepared us some excellent strong Lebanese coffee, which was a great end to our meal. When we go to Natalie's, one of our favorite restaurants, we always feel that we've had a very special dining experience.

If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.
