You can make your burger the way you want it-- no weird sauces or frills (unless you want), just a delicious tasting burger with a varied menu . my burger: well done, pepper jack cheese, grilled jalapeños, mayo and lettuce. Fresh off the grill flavor with a bun that is warm and lightly toasted (cold buns wreck a burger) and tastes good. Fries are browned with skin on--yum -- a perfect crisp, and salted just right. For me, better than Five Guys. A surprising treat as I generally don't expect much when it comes to fries-- hit or miss. These were great! Onion rings are crisp and not anemic- looking or at all soggy. I have eaten at Beavine (over salted yuk), Burger Bach --expensive and w/sauces that don't belong on a burger. I've done Burtons Grill-- unimpressed, expensive--their bernaise sauce overpowered the burger and made the entire thing soggy. Smash Burger, shake shack, etc., (unimpressed). I had my eye on their Italian hoagie, which is listed under the Cold section, but I know better at this point in time of living in the South and the many Italian hoagies that I have had to refrigerate. So I ordered it without the tomato or peppers and served cold. I ordered it through the bartender, who told me that they do serve them cold and that they were out of peppers that day. Turns out they were not out of peppers and they did not serve it cold. I can't eat peppers due to food sensitivities, so I sent it back and asked for it to be re-made. This was the bartender's mistake, from the receipt I could see that he didn't send those notes to Fat Kid, to be clear. The second rendition was made correctly, and it was definitely tasty, but they are overpriced. It's pretty obvious from my picture that this wasn't some hefty, super stuffed and loaded with meats/cheese hoagie. It looks like a normal 6" hoagie. Not worth $11 for it, in my opinion. I'd rather spend $16 at Stanley's or $10 for a full-size at Mr. Submarine.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with a chopped cheese sandwich, let me break it down for you. A chopped cheese sandwich is when a burger is cooked steak and cheese style and put on a hoagie roll. This sounds like it should be a simple concept but so many sandwiches fall short of hitting the mark. THIS ONE DOES NOT! The meat on this sandwich is cooked wonderfully. The seasoning is perfect. The temperature is excellent. It's juicy and not any way overcooked. It smells amazing as soon as you open the bag. The fries are also a sticking point for me. They are golden brown and have just the right amount of salt and crunch to them without being dried out. My lunch is always really in minutes and I enjoy talking to the owner while I wait. He always greets me with a smile and makes my business feel appreciated. There are several other menu options but I am so smitten with this one that I have not ventured to try anything else.
