As anyone who follows me knows, customer service is a huge thing for me and the wonderful crew at this place do not disappoint. I had driven by here numerous times always saying "I need to stop there." OK, so I finally did thanks to having lunch with my daughter and a friend. The atmosphere is casual, the people friendly and the choices plentiful. I opted for a Supreme Cheesesteak which has mushrooms, onions, and green peppers. It was terrific not as wet as I am used to for a cheesesteak, but packed with flavor. Lili gave her thumbs up to her grilled cheese, she has less complicated taste than her father. We chit chatted with one of the owners a bit before leaving. Again, one of the great things about the place, it's family owned and they are hands on owners. Highly recommend for lunch. read more

I am a long time customer of Philly time and I enjoy the food service with a smile. They make you feel welcome.

Good sandwich and wrap spot for a quick lunch. The service was pretty quick in taking orders and getting them out. If there are more than a few customers at the same time, it can get a little crowded at the door. I tried the Cajun chicken and I thought it was going to be actual pieces of chicken, but it was sliced deli chicken. The dressing was good in the wrap, but I didn't catch the cajun flavor. The food was alright 1 teriyaki chicken and steak combo. The meal was filling, cheese was melted and sandwich was warm. The issue there isn't any flavor literally thrown together and juices were pouring out of my sandwich when I just picked it up. The bun was crushed and soggy. It was just a meat sandwich with I've never eaten at this place but as far as all the sandwich places I've eaten at this one by far is not one I would try again. A true Philly sub on the wonderful rolls they actually use in Philadelphia, this is a nice little place hidden away up north in Briarcliff -- directly across from Piropos. They have tons of different Phillies to choose from. I got the Supreme, which has mushrooms, onions and peppers. It was delicious. It's very nice and clean inside and the two ladies working there couldn't have been nicer. I was there during a slow time in mid-afternoon on a stormy day and we had a blast chatting while I ate. They have unusual hours, closing at 3 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays so check their times before you head out. read more

I have not been here for years and I remember why. 2 regular Philly, 's , 2 Fries, 2 regular drinks - $38.40 + tip. Meat does not cover bun. Fries were HOT and good. Now the bad part. woman who took order went outside (we were the only ones in restaurant) smoked and talked on phone for 20 minutes, came back in and started handling food without washing her hands. Another employee handling meat was wearing gloves but touching cabinets , picked up something off floor and continued handling meat. For this reason, will not go back. So dry that I had to add my own mayo to the sandwhich from home. The chicken didn't have a lot of flavor and there was hardly any cheese. I wasn't a fan of the bread either because it was a little chewy. My friend had ordered a different chicken philly and hers didn't have much cheese in it either. I'd love to give this place another chance but it's kind of hard to when they give you 2 dry sandwhiches. read more

Found this place randomly searching for places on my lunch break. It is in a convenient location, didn't take much time to get there. I walked in, went to the register told them I ordered online. I'll even give an extra star (3-4) just because they carry bags of Zapp's chips (mm-mm good!). !! it didn't come on a paper plate !! I feel bad I haven't reviewed Philly Time before but I really love this place. Recently, I've gone Keto so the last time I ordered, I just asked them to leave out the bread. You can also get a bed of lettuce if you'd like. I honestly expected to get a skimpy portion without the bread but it was pretty generous & oh so delicious! A-OK! I tried this place out with my coworker for lunch. It was small and only a couple of tables were vacant. The cheesesteaks were all priced at $6.99 for regular and $9.49 for double meat. I ordered the Original Cheesesteak while my coworker ordered the South Street Cheesesteak. We both made it a combo (came with a drink and a side) but I ordered fries while he ordered onion rings. I think the price of the combo changes depending on what side you ordered because my combo was $3.28 while his was a little bit more than that. I ended up paying $11.30 total. The Original Cheesesteak tasted good to me but nothing special. My coworker told me that this place used the right kind of Cheese Whiz in his South Street Cheesesteak. That's good to know and he said the size was the same as the ones in Philly. The fries were alright with ketchup but I wasn't feelin' the steak sauce. I even dipped my cheesesteak in the steak sauce but I didn't think it complemented well. I traveled to the Briar Cliff shopping area today to try a philly cheese steak from Philly Time. I had never been in this area for anything, but this is a really nice area. There are several shops and restaurants within walking distance so it would make for a nice couple hour outing just to check everything out. I walk into a small restaurant store front, with maybe 8 small tables and a counter to order at. The menu is pretty simple; mainly philly sandwiches (yaay, I found the right place) and some sides and a few other non philly sandwich options. They also have a daily special, but none of those really struck a chord with me. I decided I wanted to take in the biggest sandwich they had, the Monster, which has triple meat, onions, peppers and mushrooms. It was so big that I took a fork and ate half of the filling before trying to pick this thing up and eat it. So, as stated half the filling is gone, it pick up the roll and dive in for the philly experience. It was wonderfully meaty, cheesy and just the right amount of seasonings and veggies. I was also impressed that with all that meat, and that I let it sit on there for 5 mins or more while I picked away at the filling, that the roll was not soggy at all. It held up and was soft and chewy, perfect vessel for this monstrosity of meat and cheese. I also ordered some Onion bits. Onion rings cut into bite sized pieces. They were good but paled in comparison to the sandwich. Next time I'll order a smaller philly and prob skip the side, but Overall it was a great lunchtime getaway. read more

This Philly Time opened a month or two ago, I'm not sure if it replaced the one on North Oak or not. The establishment itself is a lot nicer looking than the other. I'm guessing this was mandated by the uber-classy Briarcliff Village management. Aside from looking nicer, the food definitely seems to taste better. I've gone about three times now and have been pleased with each of my phillies. They also have a decent assortment of wraps and sub sandwiches, which I'm told by co-workers are also good. Service has been excellent on my visits. On one visit, the guy taking my order erased it out and re-input it to ensure my cheese adjustment was reflected correctly. A second time, the cook was unsure and actually came out to ask rather than throwing it together and leaving me annoyed when I got back to work to eat the wrong sandwich. read more

Since moving here, I have been searching for a decent cheesesteak in Kansas City. I am from Philadelphia and realize nothing compares to the real thing, but Philly Time wasn't too bad. I admire their efforts for authenticity. I have two places on my list that import Amoroso rolls from Philadelphia (the essential ingredient for an authentic Philly cheesesteak). One is Philly Time, the other one is Grinders, which is talked about a lot more among locals. I decided to try Philly Time first, since it is not as well-known. I got here on a weeknight around 5pm, and there was basically no one in there. It is located in a shopping/dining center with other retailers, not sure what else was around, but I did not see the sign when I was first pulling in. It actually looked closed, and I was mad for a second, as I drove ~25 minutes to get there. It was indeed open, just a bit dark in there. Of course I ordered a cheesesteak with cheese whiz (another sign of authenticity) and fried onions (the "South Street" without green peppers). I got a side of fries, and my total was around 10 bucks. I sat and waited to get my cheesesteak to go, and it took about 10 minutes. The place has a decent amount of seating, seemed more like a lunch place. I grabbed my cheesesteak and made the ~40 minute trek home. I was excited to have an Amoroso roll for the first time in a long time, and unwrapped my beautiful cheesesteak. I was really happy to see the cheesesteak did not get soggy. This place does know technique and correctly put the cheese in-between the meat and the roll. My cheesesteak got a little cold, so I do expect it to be better if eaten immediately after prepared. I also noticed the roll was a little stale, but that is somewhat expected if importing a roll halfway across the country. But seriously, a stale Amoroso roll is much better than a fresh "soft" roll that many restaurants serve. I look forward to trying this place again after finding out what day they get their shipments and eating in, rather than taking out. I can completely understand the 3-star ratings from people who have not had an authentic Philly cheesesteak before. Philly Time certainly was not the best sandwich I've ever had, and it probably is a 3-star experience if comparing to sandwiches in general. However, I really appreciate the effort to bring in real Philadelphia Amoroso rolls and offering cheese whiz. If you want to experience a decent authentic Philly cheesesteak, try one at Philly Time. Thank you, Philly Time, keep it up! PS: The fries were kind of crummy. They were crispy but tasted freezer burnt. I suggest skipping those! read more

Went to this place today for the first time and then came home and read other people's reviews. Wow, I must be fairly easy to please because I thought my sandwich was great. I love the soft roll (and when I read that they bring them in from Philly, to be authentic, I understood why it seemed so perfect). I had the sandwich that has just the cheese, meat, and onions. It was excellent. Loved that it didn't get greasy like some cheesesteaks I've tried. The cheese was perfectly melted, the onions cooked just to the right translucent sweetness, and that meat was great. Whoever thought there wasn't enough of the meat, I'd hate to think of what it would be like to have more. Mine felt stuffed with meat. Next time I come I'll definitely add mushrooms to my sandwich and maybe even some green peppers. The fries were so hot I could barely eat them. But that's ok because one thing I absolutely hate are tepid fries. For checking in on Facebook, I got a fifteen percent discount on my order. That was easy and a nice extra benefit. I came at about 11:15 and there were plenty of tables to sit at. Later, the crowds starting coming on, so glad I got there early. The prices are pretty reasonable and the employees friendly. I had the Bayou Steak Philly with fries. It was delicious, I don't care if it was "legit" or not. The bayou sauce was incredible and I even got a side of it for my fries. I had about a 20 minute drive back to work before I could eat the sandwich and it wasn't soggy at all even with the creamy sauce added to it. All in all, this is a great place to get a Philly. Philly Time runs a satellite location at my mother's office building across the street from their main location at Briarcliff. Last month, she, and a few others, bought food there and were puking sick by the end of the day. It was reported to the manager (John) who did come and speak with her (and the others). After his conversation with them, he spoke to the worker at the kiosk and said that the people "were probably making it up" and that being sick wouldn't hurt my mother anyway because "she could stand to lose a few pounds". Since then, still nothing has been done in terms of quality improvement. Philly Time regularly uses meat well past it's expiration date. I know this because a worker has been frequently reprimanded by John for throwing outdated meat out (and was recently let go because of it). He apparently thinks it's OK to serve the public meat that is bad. To this date, people have still gotten sick, and John still refuses to do anything about it. I have sent Philly Time a letter expressing my outrage. I have also forwarded it to the Health Department. Anyone who eats here is taking a risk with their own health. That sandwich you are eating may have expired meat. Do you want to take that chance? read more

Not cool, Philly Time. I thought I'd take my out of town guest over to enjoy a good sandwich. What we ended up with was not that great. Both Philly's were wrapped in something that made crepe paper look like cardboard. I just picked 4 jalapeno stems out of my sandwich (The Spicy). My chicken was super dry and instead of spreading the cream cheese throughout the sandwich they chose to drop a huge pile in the middle. My guest said he had so much sauce on his (The Supreme) that it rendered his bread useless. For the price you pay, these really should be better. I'll give them another chance but they are off my list for taking visitors. read more

I was in the area early one morning and swung by and saw that they had Italian beef's on Monday's, which you can only get in Chicago. So I stopped by Monday night and boy was it worth the stop. I was in a hurry and needed something quick before an afternoon meeting. It was about 1PM and, with the exception of a couple of carry out orders, was empty. I ordered a classic Philly. (if you're going to judge a Philly place... order a Philly) The staff was prompt and friendly. My sandwich was pretty good. My only complaint is that I think my cheese was a pasteurized cheese product, which is one of my least favorite things. I also felt that for how expensive the sandwich was (7 bucks, no sides) kind of small and lacking in the meat department. I was, however, impressed with the overall decor.
