My only complaint is that there was almost no spice to the fish. I also had the gumbo. They make theirs with a lot of very heavily browned rue, but again no spice. Those 2 don't go together. The gumbo was disappointing. Wife had a shrimp poboy which was good, and an "egg salad" which was a bunch of coleslaw with a little egg in it. Okay, not great. Alcoholic drinks are priced right; cronut dessert is the best kept secret; they know how to do a crawfish boil; oysters are on point; and the French fries with their corn and crab chowder is amazing. Their roast beef poboy reminds me of Danny N Clyde's on west bank in Gretna, LA....brought tears to my eyes it was sooooo good. Ask bartender to shake their whiskey sour. Went in for lunch on a Saturday it was busy but not slammed. The place is so cute clean and fresh reminds you of the fish houses in Louisiana family style love it great Cajun music. Met the owners they were lovely people the bartender was awesome. The food so yummy/ I had a fresh catch of the day poor boy it was so good fresh and delicious French fries were amazing. The food is great ! My wife and I shared the Swamp Platter with a house salad each. Plenty of food! The service was excellent! We happened to get there on a day they had live music. 3 starts is generous. We loved the old Cosse's. Staff was very nice. We ordered the sautéed crab claws. At the old place they came out in their sauce. These arrived on their "plates". They had good flavor, but were overcooked which made them dry. We did the fresh catch (times 2) and shrimp platter. It was the platter with 3 choices. Everything was quite brown. Although the coating was well done, the shrimp was good. The fish was just heavily fried. It all tasted the same. The fries were good. Everything was piping hot. Vibe is not the same as old place. Bar noise is pretty loud. It isn't the Cosse's we loved, flavors and atmosphere are off. read more

I'm sitting here at 6PM - have been waiting on food for an hour with 4 tables total here. 1 person is serving the front - which is the 2nd time I've witnessed it - they have ran out of etouffe, gumbo, chicken tenders, pimento cheese, and I forgot what else. This is officially the 5th time I've been here since it opened and it's only gotten worse, and it never started great. This is a review to anyone working here or possibly ever wanting to work here to go find a place where owners and/or managers do not treat a restaurant like this. Finally drove up from the beach to try this place. The parking lot was packed but we had no problem getting seated. We were there on a Sunday and there was live music which was a pleasant surprise. We started with a broiled oyster trio. Cosse's is not stingy on the toppings. Lots of sausage, crab meat, and a great garlic cheese blend. We decided to just order appetizers since there was much to sample. The boudin balls were very large, 4 to the order. They were not seasoned enough for us, and fried perfectly. The gumbo balls were something new to us and they did not disappoint. Full of sausage, rice and other goodness, these will be ordered again. Finally,a bowl of corn and crab soup was decadent and perfect. We didn't finish everything on the table as portions were large. We will make the trip back soon. read more

This was our first time at the new Hwy 90 location. The interior was clean and spacious. Initially we were seated at a small table however your server (Cortney) moved us to a larger more comfortable spot. It has been more than a year since we last dined at the old location so the increased price of the Swamp platter was not unexpected. I read a couple of bad reviews and most of the complaints were about the price. $35 per person is an excellent price for fresh seafood in my opinion, after all it's not Long John Silver's. The new location is actually closer to our Ferry Pass residence so they can expect to see us at least twice a month. Hopefully we will get the same excellent service on our next visit. read more

The food is good but I seen pictures of where they fried a cockroach with someone's food. The cooks make food differently every time I've been there & the servers are rude. I want to love this place so much but we will pass for now, unless they make some changes. Every time we have been we have had an issue with flies constantly flying over our food. This is an issue that can be taken care of so that is why I'm mentioning it. Three times we went and they had live music or they had a dj playing music bingo. Since the dinning area is on the smaller size, there is no where to sit that isn't right by the music. Being in a small area it makes the music very loud and intrusive. We could not have a conversation with our family while we ate unless we yelled. They seem to have music quite a bit so if you want to talk while you eat, you might want to call ahead to see what times are best. Food is good, service is good, wait times can be rather long (which is ok if you can speak to and enjoy your family while you wait). read more

Met for dinner on Friday night in this Pace establishment. Super friendly folks, large porch area and nice Cajun decor. Lots of fried food options and plenty of seafood to choose from. Handmade dressings and hand breaded crab claws. I really want this place to succeed, let me say that up front. A combination of expense, slower service and "meh" taste drive my rating. We went early on a Friday and were seated straight away. However it took a while to get greeted and submit drinks and appy order (which she wasn't even sure was actually available...even though I read it straight from the regular menu.) The crab cakes came out New Orleans style (i.e. think misshapen ball) and were tasty, if not a slightly mushy inside. We ordered two types of baskets, fish and shrimp (which comes with fries.) Both were crispy and seasoned well. I even had a Salted Caramel Old Fashioned which was nice and strong. Unfortunately, the final cost for all the above made me think of fancy restaurant, not a casual, family place. I hope things improve, else I may only go back to enjoy the bar and drinks. read more

When she came back. We ask her questions about the different items on the menu. She was very helpful to explain them to us. We decided on the Fresh Catch Atchafalaya. She assured us that it was plenty of food for sharing. And she was so right. There was plenty of food and it was amazing !!! The place is decorated with New Orleans artifacts. NEVER AGAIN! Staff is preferential to serve Bar Customers their food prior to the two tables in the Dining Area even through those folks had come in first. Wasn't taking Credit Cards as the machine was down. After 45 minutes waiting & having witnessed four individual bar customers served plates. I stood by the Port Hole window of the Kitchen Door, waiting to tell the Waitress we where leaving. I saw her (Shexxx) standing in front of our order on the counter, waiting for the cook to finish, either over cooking the fries or burn the Po-Boy Bun. 1. My date ordered a rum & coke and a water. I asked 4 water & a minute to decide my drink order. I and only i got a water,12 minutes later he received his cocktail and I was never asked about my drink order. We had to ask for his water..again 2. When served the overly fried gator bites we got no plates, no silverware, nor were we given a chance to ask for a dressing because she never returned until she brought our meal. 3. When my date asked for silverware the waitress pointed to a paper envelope on the table and said there it was. When she was told it's only 1 fork, she had to pick it up to see if indeed we were truthful then hesitantly mumbled ok and literally dropped 1 off as she quickly passed by. 4. The entre ..oh my gosh!! Costing over $25 we were presented with a plate of unseasoned rice, overcooked, with 5 small, thin triangular shaped pieces of what she said was Trigger fish. I thought the gator bites were tough..so was this fish!! So horribly overcooked!! Oh lest not forget the plate was rimmed with raw spinach leaves about an inch wide a half deep. Nothing on them. The etoouffe resemble condensed tomato soup with bits of something in it. There is no way I could recommend this restaurant..not for his food or service. On a scale of 1-10 this rates solid 1. We have been to Cosse's several times in the past with very good experiences. Last evening was a disappointing evening. We ordered the crawfish queso for an appetizer. It was as good as the last few times we have had it. Only issue was we could not hold a conversation due the volume of the live band. Once our entrees came out we anticipated the same. What was served as a crawfish etoufeé was not good. No crawfish and the base was very much a tomato base, not the same as we have gotten before. The server, Maillet, checked with the kitchen and they were going to redo the order. What was brought out was the same base with sautéed crawfish tails. We sat a few minutes after receiving the remakes and realized it would not get better if we sent it back again. We boxed up the remade servings and paid our bill and left disappointed. Not sure if this is a one-off, or if someone decided to 'create' a new version for a classic Cajun dish, but we will be careful next time in our dining options. read more

Poorest excuse for a restaurant EVER! Gumbo tasted ok, but the rest of the food was a fiasco! We were ignored completely as the waitress waited on some people who had come in the restaurant after we sat down! Finally, she asked if we had been waiting on. We ordered a crawfish basket and a shrimp basket. We sat there for awhile, and suddenly, the waitress was back to tell us that they were out of shrimp. So, I decided to order a crawfish poboy. They brought me, basically, french bread with lettuce on it. There were maybe 5 or 6 crawfish tails on it! We were asked if I wanted the sandwich to be shown to the kitchen! We asked if we could have our bill adjusted. We paid $40 for food that we didn't even eat! The crawfish poboy was subtracted from the bill, but otherwise, we didn't even eat the food! It was that bad! And when we were outside going to the car, we noticed that it is filthy around the back of the building with stuff all over the place. Trashy looking area. I would NEVER suggest going there for food! We were told that it was because the owner had just had major surgery, and is now in a wheelchair. What does that have to do with being able to run a restaurant and offer good quaility food? We honestly are sorry that he has health issues and we wish him well, but his restaurant has gone downhaul in a hurry! Never again for us. They just took our money for nothing! read more
