I was not sure so he went ahead and loaded Fortnite and said he would do his best to replicate the issue. Then he simply removed the hard drive and put it in an external bay for my laptop to retrieve the data. It worked because the hard was not damaged. It was the system that was corrupt. He went ahead to try to reinstall the system on a used hard drive he asked me to buy from him but failed. He said that the old bios would not allow him to use a bootable USB and he did not have a CD with him. He then told me to throw away the PC and would buy a used one off the lease from him. I did not. I told him that I would rather buy a new hard drive and he could take his used hard drive with him. Then he left. I wrote him a check for the service plus the used hard drive he was supposed to sell to me and could not change it. He then gave me a used external hard drive bay (no hard drive) as compensation. I then checked on eBay and the computer he told me to throw away was selling at $799 for a refurbished one. It was a full size intel 16 g, 1 t, HDMI, DVI, memory card reader, double layer DVD ... many expansion bays ...
