This is my second or third time coming to this cute little market and they always have the most random Asian products!! It's packed into a little tight place, but they have a lot of the same things ranch 99 has!! I've never seen a ranch 99 out here only down in Silicon Valley, where I'm from. Luckily, we also have an H Mart and a Mitsuwa and Tokyo Central! Lol up here in the country they don't really have that! Lol I was happy to find so many great products here at this little hole in the wall market they even had fresh pandan!!! . We will definitely be back again to buy more!! Wanting to find variety in my Asian market shopping, I stopped in here today. Sadly, I found that less than 50% of the product has any price, either a tag on the product or a tag on the shelf. I did find a couple of items to buy that did have prices, but I'll have to wait and see what kind of fraudulent charge they add because I paid with a card. Too bad, really. I probably won't be back. EDIT: I will note that they did not charge more than my receipt said to my card. So there's that. read more

Mom and pops shop been around for years. Everything has been the same since I was a child. Its a little small but does the work. They have majority of everything you need for your oriental groceries. Market looks unassuming from the outside but it's the BEST place to find Asian vegetables! I use to drive down to SF or Oakland once or twice a month to pick up some Asian vegetables. (Ong choy, pea sprouts, Gai Lan etc.) I can without a doubt say the vegetables here are fresher than you would find in any 99 Ranch or supermarket in the Bay Area chinatowns. Prices are also very reasonable. Staff behind the register is friendly and polite. Store is very small and aisles are narrow but the store is well stocked with a good variety of ingredients and noodles for both the advanced or lazy cook. Could not be more delighted to find such a gem in Santa Rosa! read more

Like to support local small businesses. And, this business has the groceries that we like. But, lately, we have discovered that it has not been closely run as it should. Products that are not marked with a price are priced inconsistently depending on the cashier. We were charged $5.49 for a dessert which normally costs $3.50. It went back to $3.50 the next time we picked it up again, with a different cashier. They also stopped handing out credit card receipts. Instead, they just give the customer the cash register receipts. This is OK for us until we noticed recently that the amounts charged to our credit cards were different from the amounts on our receipts. Out of 4 receipts we had for our visits last month, all 4 were overcharged between $1-$2. So, be aware, and maybe best to pay with cash. read more

It's difficult to find a good asian grocery store in Santa Rosa. I have tried 2 others which I won't mention here. Phnom-Penh is fantastic. The parking lot is a bit tight with limited spaces and small parking stalls. They are well stocked with most items that you need to cook Asian cuisine. There is a large frozen food section with various meats including seafood and things you can't find elsewhere like chicken feet, gizards, and other internal organs. The refrigerated section had a variety of items including different wonton skins (square and around). They have fresh produce. As others have posted, the aisles are narrow and somewhat cluttered, but that's what you expect at an Asian grocery store. Just think of it an an experience. I bought 1 lb bag of fish balls and freshly made spring rolls with peanut sauce. The spring rolls were great! They came from a thai restaurant named Thai House in Santa Rosa. I guess it's free advertising for them. Highly recommend Phnon-Penh. read more

How many of us even know where Phnom-Penh is? P-P Oriental Grocery is a small bustling Asian supermarket in Santa Rosa named after the capital of Cambodia. The store is nowhere close to a 99 Ranch in both size and inventory. For those interested in Asian cooking, you are able to get most of what you need here. As for me, I wasn't about to disavow my heritage or throw away my wok. So we all come here even though prices may not be as cheap as in SF or East Bay but we'll still save on time, gas and toll shopping locally. It was dumb of me to judge a book by the cover. I have pooh-poohed the market because of its location and decrepit façade. First off, this is an Asian market. So expect little spoken English although some younger staff is fairly fluent. There is none of the surly and rude staff you often encounter in other Asian markets. Do expect however to find a lot of clutter, super narrow aisles and a pain to maneuver around even with just a shopping basket. Plan your shopping time accordingly. I will not reiterate every item the market carries. Aren't all Asian markets similar? There is however two big differences I noticed that made this market less than perfect. Firstly, the Japanese and Korean sections are not as well stocked and secondly, there are no live fish/seafood tanks. The market does have all those hard to find Asian food and spices that are not available in a Safeway or Raley's. The shelves were filled completely with all the staples any respectable Asian kitchen should have. Just watch out for durian, the fruit with the obnoxious odor, which may stink up your car or kitchen! read more

This isn't a fancy spot but I LOVE it. This is my go to shop. I've been going for years and can always find fresh Thai Basil, galanga and other hard to find items for a really great price. It's tiny so once you know where things are you can get in and out in a snap. Be sure to try some of the fresh items for sale at the register. Fresh Spring Rolls are standard fare, cheap and tasty. Lots of rice options too.!! Don't be swayed by the stinky parking area... that's what you get when a fish place is next to you. read more

The best Asian grocery in Sonoma county. Not only have I been coming here for 25+ years but they honestly have the broadest selection of authentic Asian produce/ grocery. It's like a mini south East Asian 99ranch. I regularly buy their Peking duck, banh mi, Lao jerky, longan, lychee, rice seasonings (Japanese furikake), gluttonous sticky rice etc.... the list goes on and they probably have it. Any south East Asian dish you're trying to cook you can probably find ingredients here. The employees are also super helpful, every time I come here I feel welcome, and I'm always super excited for all the well priced groceries. Small, Cluttered, shelf organization of the food products is confusing. The place is not particularly clean. Lighting is dim. Totally ghetto market. And I love it! This grocery store is an incredible find for Asian markets in Santa Rosa (and neighbouring cities). We don't have many markets that specialise in Asian produce/groceries, so this place is amazing. I have to admit that's it's a bit pricier than the prices you'd find in SF, but it's definitely worth it to save the drive over there. I HIGHLY recommend this place for all your Asian shopping needs. The selection here is great and offer many traditional fresh veggies and a nice variety of meats as well. Their selection isn't limited to just Asian vegetables; they also have the "normal" veggies such as broccoli, green onions, etc. There's tons of snacks, Asian instant ramens, fresh noodles, sauces, and pretty much everything in between. This place is really cramped and the aisles are small but it's because they have so much to offer and not enough space! In addition to that, they also offer a small variety of prepared Viet foods like rice noodles and some desserts that I actually don't know the name of but I know they're really tasty (sorry, not that helpful here). One downside: the parking lot here is really small. Be careful when you're pulling into the lot because there's pretty much only room for one car to be entering/exiting at a time. read more

I've been shopping here for many years. The staff is so kind and helpful. I've been to Phnom-Pehn Cambodia and we've talked about this several times. When I call they are always happy to help me find what I am looking for before driving that far. Last time I was looking for lotus root and they had plenty. I get some long standing favorites here and they are always in stock. The place is a bit funky like a real Cambodian Market so be expecting this and you will really love the place like their loyal following. I LOVE Phnom Penh. I want to get right into it for you quick readers so you can stop reading and go there NOW. What I liked: Did you know that one of the owners drives down to SF for fresh veggie, noodle, bbq meat offerings and more? It's true, he does it twice a week! W-O-W!!! A good Asian Grocery store should have: * Variety: They have everything you can think of. Dried goods, fresh goods. Frozen goods. Prepared goods. * Different Asian offerings: Not just chinese. Thai, Vietnamese, Indian - you can tell by the people who shop here. All Asia is represented. * Good vegetables: Looked fresh! * Good price: I would have expected expensive since there isn't much around. But it was reasonable. * BBQ meat: Chinese bbq. Fresh. From SF. I was stunned. * Special finds: The day I was there I found fresh noodles from SF, bbq meat from SF and also Banh mi vietnamese sandwiches. What I didn't like: * Everytime I come here, there isn't any parking and I really don't care. Unless you want to drive to SF every time you need something, you need to come here. * A little tight. But they pack every square foot with your Asian grocery needs. They even have bowls, pots, plates etc. * Not sparkling clean. But that's to be expected at most Asian marts. Summary: I've lived all over and in the best and worst Chinatown marts. So I didn't expect much but these guys were really unexpected! My last buy there was the day that they drove to SF (early AM) so I bought some super fresh, super soft foot long rice wrappers. I thought I was wasting my time, these wrappers go stale in a day or so and you can't get them at every Asian mart. The upside is that the employees were super friendly and led me right to them. This little market has everything I need for my favorite comfort meals and snacks. My favorites are: Every flavor you need for homemade Pho. N'oh Hawaiian seasoning mixes. The "vegan caviar" a.k.a. sea grapes, which is a delicious type of seaweed that pops when you chew it. And a giant pack of frozen Lao sausage-- my favorite to go along with sticky rice. And the tins of mustard powder that I use for my Natto seasoning. It's an exciting place for a home chef. read more

I can't believe this Asian grocery store is open to the public. There is no limit or control of how many people are allowed in this already cluttered store at any given time. There is no social distance being practiced and the employees do absolutely nothing to enforce it. The aisles are extremely narrow and littered with stacked boxes making it difficult to navigate without bumping into someone. In my opinion, there are countless health violations! They do have a good selection of Asian items, but certainly not the risk of COVID! This store, in itself, could potentially be a breeding ground for a super spreader of COVID! I will not be patronizing this store again. If you have been thinking of visiting this store, DON'T. I think the county health inspector should pay a visit. read more

So I literally drive all the way to this grocery from Windsor just for their yummy packaged noodles. They have a huge variety of Asian food. I buy the noodles I like by the case. Lol. And if they have any made for the day, I take a couple containers of there spring rolls with peanut sauce. $3 for 3. Cheap deal and so yummy. I love those spring rolls. Produce varied and very fresh. Their garlicky prepared peanuts are out of this world. Very decent quality across the board with all produce we tried (tomato, taro, gai lan, lemongrass, limes, scallions, taro, etc.). The guy working the counter offered to help us find certain things when we apparently appeared to have trouble finding what we were looking for. Didn't find every condiment we needed, but given the compact space, the selection was impressive and perhaps equally important, the people who work there are extremely helpful and courteous. read more

This is one of the closest grocery stores to our house. They have great produce at very attractive prices. Their selection of mushrooms is very good. All their products are fresh including the canned goods which can be expired at other hole in the wall Asian grocery stores. Top notch friendly cashiers. I think this is a family operation. The aisles are crowded and it adds to the ambiance. The other reviewer is right. The beef jerky is super duper. The ice cream selection used to be better but that is a lame complaint. 5 stars.
