    Butter beef

Tldr: BUTTER BEEF IS A MUST. Service: we rolled in at 7pm on a Saturday, and they had a 2hr wait.. lol. You should come here first before a year stops around the area and put ur name down. They were quick to get our orders and also put the food down. Ambiance: there is not seating for how popular this place is! Anyway, but its smaller than I had imagined, not exactly a huge place but it is pretty sizable and still not enough because of how popular they are. Food: out of the three things I ordered, definitely the butter beef is an order again 10/10. The beef stew is mid 6/10 but good enough if you are reaally craving it., and I could skip the banh beo altogether. I wish I had ordered the fried chicken, but I've read mixed reviews. Overall maybe if I came back, it would be butter beef a d try other dishes, like the fried chicken and fried rice?

This family-owned and run restaurant has a very hole-in-the-wall vibe, but the hype follows it everywhere. It feels like I'm eating at home with my family, it's that type of good food. It's been on our list for so long, I'm glad we were finally able to try it. I think we took the last table on a Wednesday evening around 5 PM. The butter beef is amazing -- our friends made sure we ordered two of them. The sugar cane shrimp was not flavourful enough and were a bit on the small side. The chicken wings are a MUST, though. How do they keep them so crispy?! Really attentive and kind service, as well!

I only hear great things about the wings here and being a lover of fried chicken I made it a point to stop here on my quick trip to Vancouver. We came around 4pm so there was no wait but by the time we left at like 5 there was already a line forming outside. We got the wings and veggie fried rice, and it took a bit of time for the food to come out but that didn't bother us. The portion for the fried rice was MASSIVE and could easily feed 3-4 people. It was good, nothing to standout but a very good classic fried rice. The wings came out after and were hot and crispy. It comes with a lemon pepper sauce on the side, which was super lemony - great if you like that but I wasn't too big a fan of it. The wings were juicy and fresh, though I will say I did expect a bit more flavor. There was only one piece at the bottom that had a generous coat of the seasoning which I thought was super tasty. Overall, good spot! I'm not sure I'd wait super long for it, but glad I got to try.

A most stunning tasting experience, I had here at Phnom Penh in Chinatown. PP has been on my radar for some time & I finally made it here. PP has been going strong since 1985 - not an easy achievement in the restaurant industry. PP has that older type restaurant feel inside, but it is very lively as waiters fly by with orders to deliver to tables. Yelpies, order these three items & the say less while you wait for them. Butter Beef (Thinly sliced rare beef) Garlic Wings (heavy on the garlic - FYI) Filet Beef Luc Lac (Tender stir-fried beef) I had a Vietnamese coffee, but it was lame. I've had better elsewhere. The taste of these dishes is orgasmic. I didn't notice nor feel a high sodium content but perhaps maybe a hint of MSG. Regardless, there's a reason why PP has won several awards year after year, including the prestigious - Michelin. Get here ASAP & find out why PP continues to impress foody lovers from everywhere. Warning, this whole area is certified - pure ghetto. Bring your car down here at your own inconvenience. Take transit or uber to get here. Zombies are everywhere. A weird side note - it appears GoDaddy hijacked PPs website. Use IG or Open Table reservations for reference & menu options.

~ Great Viet Food For Vancouver ~ Coming from SoCal, I would say try the butter beef! I've never had anything like that at an asian restaurant back at home. It was so flavorful and the beef was so soft! The rest of the food was good don't get me wrong, BUT it lacked extra flavor that SoCal food provides. There is always a wait here but their waitlist goes by fast. The service is nice.

Came here for the wings and it did not disappoint! These Michelin guide wings came with a sauce that was a little too citrusy but having them with fish sauce was amazing. The bahn xeo and the luc lac beef was good and pretty standard. It definitely has a hole in the wall vibes that you know is going to have good food. Definitely have to line up here with the number of people that also come. We had to wait about 45 minutes even waiting in line before it opened. But it goes to show how good this place is!

Always seeing people line up at the door shows that this restaurant truly has something special . When we finally got our table, the food exceeded our expectations. The chicken wings should be called crack wings HIGHLY addictive. The deep-fried squid is prepared the same way as the chicken wings, and the calamari was amazingly tender. The Butter beef was simply fantastic, with flavors that balanced sweetness and saltiness perfectly, topped with delicious accompaniments. I wish the pea shoots had a bit more flavor, but they were cooked just right tender with a satisfying crunch, not overdone. Overall I give this experience 5/5!!

Came here around 4:30pm on a Sunday and got super lucky with little to no wait. My friend tried to go another time and was told the wait would be 2 hrs so def be prepared for that if you're going at peak lunch/dinner time. We split what seemed like the two most popular dishes between two people and thought it was a good amount but we weren't super full or anything Marinated butter beef: 5/5 this was my first time trying this dish and I was a big fan. I like the sauce a lot and the texture of the beef was great too Fried chicken wings (regular): 5/5 I like that the batter on this wasn't too thick which I think helped make it super crispy

Solid food!! Loved their chicken wings! Crispy and garlicky!! There was a bit of a wait during lunch time! Good, friendly service!

Portions here are HUGE. My favorite is for sure the marinated butter beef. The other food is good as well, but not as outstanding as that. Another notable mention is the chicken wings. Fried perfectly with nice amount of seasoning. Service is super quick even for our large table of 7.

It's ok? Coming from California... Marinated butter beef 7/10 - really like the sauce and marinade it came with - very refreshing, savory, sweet and a lil salty - beef was not the most "buttery" - if you're scared of raw meat, this dish doesn't give that "raw" taste which was surprisingly nice Beef luc lac with egg 8/10 - sweet soy saucy flavor - very reminiscent of what my mom used to make at home - beef was tender - very good portion - egg is crispy and runny (perfection!) Fried chicken wings 9/10 - more like sugar and pepper dusted - the lemon pepper dip was underwhelming, could've done without it but was ok to have as well - chicken is juicy and crispy, very well fried - forgot to take pic on my phone - was my favorite dish Phnom Penh two kinds of noodle in soup 6/10 - flavors are not there for a Cambodian noodle soup - very light broth which is nice on its own but not in this dish - toppings are ok, no complaints - no chili on the table so you have to ask but all of the chili oil and sauces are NOT spicy :( and did not add much to the dish as well - can find this elsewhere Overall, service was ok. Nothing special. The restaurant was practically empty so there was no wait on a Friday night. If you're traveling from a place with lots of Asian food, this restaurant may not impress you and probably is not worth that trip. This would be good if you're a local but not worth to go out of the way for.

The Phnom Penh Chicken Wings will make you grovel because it's so good

The moment the aroma from their fried chicken wings hits your nose you start to realize why this place always has a line and how every list has Phnom Penh as a place you cannot miss in Vancouver. Even with skepticism, this place reaches the highs it so quietly can brag about. From first bite to last, it's hard not to smile with each bite. Let's start with the most obvious dish: the deep fried chicken wings are incredible. Similar to a salt and pepper chicken wing you can find at any great Chinese restaurant, the savory flavors enrapture you from smell to taste. A generous portion is given but if you end up finishing it yourself no one will be able to blame you considering how tasty these wings are. The Marinated Butter Beef isn't made with butter but with how tender and juicy as it is you'd think it was. Similar to a delicious carpaccio the thin slices mixed with the savory sauce and herbs leave a fresh taste on the palate, not something you can say often with beef. Filet Beef Luc Lac on Rice with Egg was a fantastic mixture of sweet and savory. It reminds me of a Cambodian version of bulgogi, I enjoyed having this mix of flavors and the vehicle of rice to carry it all home was enjoyable. The Green Papaya Salad was a great example of how generous the dishes are here. A plate full of julienne papaya in a light sauce and served with shrimp and a beef jerky makes this a burst of freshness. Highly enjoyable and a great start and palate cleanser. Phnom Penh Hot and Sour Soup with Fish is so tasty. I didn't think I'd enjoy this but it was a soup filled with different flavors and soft textures. Very comforting on rainy cold days and perfect for sharing. If you're looking for exceptional food that will always be a conversation starter when looking back at the meal, try Phnom Penh. No regrets.

Came here for dinner with the family. Wait was about 45 mins. Not too bad but better to try and get on the waitlist beforehand. Everyone was super nice but service was a little off. Had to ask several times for the soda we ordered and they kept trying to bring us items we did order. Food was delicious We started with the marinated butter beef. Omg. Beyond amazing. Chicken wings... so addicting. The seasoning is ridiculously delicious. Lemon pepper dip nothing more than lemon juice with pepper. Not needed I ordered the chicken curry. So much chicken. Just the right amount of spice. It was super tasty but the so many bones and bone bits. My bf and sil had the beef luc luc with an egg on rice. They loved it. I tried it. Was good. My bil had the stew beef soup. He said it was delicious. I'd definitely eat here again. So yum.

Even if someone is not good in English, the menu is written in Chinese and Korean next to English descriptions. Depending on your appetite their noodles come in small, large and x-large sizes. My friend ordered 6 Beef Brisket noodle (small $15.95) while I ordered 64 Grilled Chicken and Spring Roll with Vermicelli ($18.95). The size was just about right for Pho. Mine was big. It had plentiful of veggies with freshly cooked spring rolls and meat. Noodles weren't too mushy. I somehow felt fish sauce was too little for my food. Later I called the server to request for more fish sauce. He started talking to me in Korean even though I didn't have communication issue in English. Anyways service was great. Food was fantastic. I'd warn ventilation system wasn't great so you might pick up food odour on your clothes. I felt cold sitting in the restaurant as the door was swung open for that reason.
