Your small town local Asian spot which does Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food. The menu is huge - so many items to choose from. I had an assortment of sashimi and sushi - it was of decent quality! Also tried a few appetizers such as edamame, crab rangoons, and a cucumber crab roll. I definitely ate way too much, lol. Interior is cute - super crowded with families (including screaming children lol) on a Tuesday night. Staff is polite but had a hard time hearing us haha. read more

Good food at great prices! We ordered several lunch specials, but our favorite was the lamb dish. I was also surprised to see pork fried rice as a side dish we could swap out white rice with, with no additional cost. Did I say how well valued they are?? Did take out. Decent Chinese place that caters more to the American taste. There's a lot of fusion with Thai, and Japanese food. Overall not bad considering it's in a very white suburb, but not as authentic as I was hoping for. The la spicy chicken appetizer is not "La Zi Ji", it's deep fried chicken nuggets on a bed of vegetables that's still good but has a very mild spice and is dipped in a sweet and sour sauce. I liked the dish, but not what I was expecting, maybe this was a Thai dish? The Mongolian beef was very tender and the onions were well cooked, but it was too salty in my opinion. Otherwise would've been delicious. The peppercorn fish filet soup was very tender but it was lacking a little in the spice and flavor department. The garlic eggplant was cooked well and had good texture, but I felt it was very under seasoned. Overall, the dishes were cooked well and had good textures, but the flavors were off. They were either over or under salted to my liking. I would probably give this place a 3.5 stars because there's no dish I'd come back for, but there aren't many good Chinese restaurants in the area so I'd be willing to try again. Service is so so, parking was street and pretty easy. Restaurant was packed on a weekend night though so I'm glad we made a reservation! read more

Picked up to go here! Website said the food would be ready around 25 minutes and it was ready after 10-15 minutes which was quick! Cashier working up at the front was super friendly. Sushi rolls I got were really good! Found this place as my husband and I were going to another restaurant, but the great smells pulled us here. The experience was fantastic, as they found us a spot in the beautiful restaurant, even though we didn't have reservations. We enjoyed delicious cocktails, very impressed with the Red Dragon, a lychee cranberry vodka mix.... Followed by a huge , outstanding fried calamari platter on greens salad. This place... disappointed me. The ratings were so high, so I had high expectations. Oriental BBQ Ribs: These were pretty bad. Barely any meat on them. Flavor wasn't good either. Southern Pepper Chicken(*): It has a triple pepper rating for spiciness, but I didn't think it was spicy enough. Other than that, this dish was actually pretty good. The chicken was tender and the rich flavors were balanced well. Chinese Eggplant in Garlic Sauce: This dish was okay. Yangzhou Fried Rice: This dish was standard, pretty hard for a restaurant to mess it up. Chow Foon: Really average. You should probably try something else. Sichuan Spicy Beef Udon Noodle Soup(*): The broth, noodles, and meat were all pretty good. Spice level and portion size were both decent as well. * These two are the dishes I would recommend I think a lot of dishes are lacking authenticity. For a restaurant called peppercorn house, I thought that their dishes would be spicier. Their menu is too long and tries to cover too much. We ordered a maki roll (I forget which one) and it was ... passable? Service was good, though. Restaurant is always very popular, so it may be hard to get a table without a reservation. read more

The Xin Jiang Lamb is fantastic. Moist and fatty a bit, on this wonderful bed of onions and sauce. I was very impressed. Pineapple Fried Rice was very tasty, and the Orange Chicken was perfectly crispy. Hot and Sour Soup was not good. Overall, I love this place. read more

I found the service was amazing - they take care of your order details and are very quick. There is ample of classy and comfortable seating at this place. I loved to get drunk and had a great time. However, the food taste was not top notch - which I felt disappointing about. Their maki rolls and sushi are great, no complaints. However, the orange chicken felt dry and lacked flavor. Basil fried rice was dry as well. Although we liked the fish filet, it had some scope for improvement too. Overall, I had a memorable time here and still love the restaurant. I stopped in for takeout last night and it was as good as the other times I've been. They're doing something right, as their tables were full of patrons and they had many other bags for takeout on their counter. The staff is friendly and efficient and the food is some of the best around. My family shared the appetizer combo, orange chicken, the chicken and broccoli, pork fried rice, and extra side of crab rangoon. Each time I've come I don't take any pictures. The service was atrocious. Long wait.We asked for appetizers to be brought out with the meal but they were not. We ordered drunken noodles that came out first and orange chicken and asked that it not be overcooked. The drunken noodles came out first because the orange chicken came out hard as a rock so back it went. Now we are sitting with a cold plate of drunken noodles waiting for the orange chicken to come back, which it finally did perfect. Two of us had sodas and after telling them that we were not pleased with the meal and we had been coming there for years the only compensation they gave us was $8 for the sodas. Last night we ordered just under $400.00 worth of food. They were had a lot of orders to fill. With this being said one would expect all of the items ordered to be fresh and hot. This would also be a daily expectation. After picking up our large order and returning home to unpack everything. We found the poo poo plater for six was old food. the chicken fingers were so hard they didn't even break open. The beef teriyaki was so dried out it had no flavor. The boneless rips also dried out like they were cooked yesterday and warmed for take-out orders. The fried rice was like mush, with no flavor. We ordered beef with mushrooms, but this came out like MUSHROOMS with a little beef. A big mistake on our part, But even a bigger waste of money. I would give this restaurant a BIG 0. Peppercorn House is hands down the best Chinese food in the area. I would give them more than 5 stars if I could. We have been going here since they changed from Taipei to Peppercorn house almost 10 years ago and I can't say enough good things about the food and the staff. Every time we order for parties our guests love it. We have 3 little kids and it's never a problem dining there with them. We love everything from the chicken wings to the sushi. Crab Rangoon's are excellent, hot and sour soup is the best, sesame chicken and general g are excellent, love all the rice and noodles. Literally have never had a major issue here.
