I was looking for Pho places in Modesto, and I found this. It was sort of in the ghetto. The outside didn't look so inviting. When I got in, the place was tiny. They could have used some fish tank decorations or something to liven up the place because the outside view did not look inviting at all. I only go here because of their Pho and I must say they have one of the tastiest phos I've ever tasted. Finally tried this place out after my bf has been telling me about how good this place was for years. He used to go here a lot years ago and swore by it, saying it was just as good, if not better than my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I LOVE Vietnamese food so, I couldn't wait to come here. This place just didn't do it for me. First of all, it's a tiny place with very few tables so, of course the place was packed. I thought well, that's a good sign. We waited outside because the place is so cramped that there's no room to even stand around inside. We waited a REALLY long time, even after a few tables were done and left, we still waited and waited. I looked inside and there were empty tables just waiting to be cleaned but, they weren't doing it. They knew we've been standing outside waiting so, I thought that was kind of bad customer service. Finally, we go back in to remind them we're there and the guy sits us down. We sat there waiting for our menus and he must've got sidetracked again because he started doing something else. I was like WTH?!! We've had two kids with us telling us they were hungry for the past hour..c'mon now! I told my bf to get up and just grab the menus from the counter. The guys sees him coming up and suddenly remembers to give us our menus. omg. At this point, I'm still trying to keep a positive attitude because we should be getting some bomb food right now. Not the case. While the food looked alright, it wasn't very good. My bf said it's definitely not the same as it used to be. The service was horrible. I could see other people getting just as frustrated as I was. I get that they were busy but, that restaurant is really small with not that many tables. They should not be having such a hard time. Most flavorful Pho I can find in Modesto, they do not give you a whole lot of noodles or meat so I guess it is quality over quantity, very reasonable prices, probably not the type of place you want to take a date the restaurant is kind of dingy and gross. Been to Pho 7 more often then any of the other Pho Restaurants in Modesto. The service may be a little unhelpful but their food is nonetheless very good. I usually get the #1 and it always arrives nice and hot and same goes for the egg rolls I would order. read more

Big phan of pho 7. Order the seafood combo soup, #16 I believe. Sprinkle some hot sauce, plum sauce, a few jalapenos and lime juice to enhance an already delicious culinary concoction. I have tried a few other items on the menu but always go back to the seafood soup, especially on a cold day. I have had better pho in the bay area and some questions could be raised about the location, but for Modesto, Pho 7 is legit. read more

I like this place a lot. Their spring rolls and pho are awesome. It is a family owned establishment and they treat you well. The place is very old and does need some updating. This place has always been a favorite but very time I leave I feel my heart is goimg to blast out of my chest. The amout of salt that is put into things here especially the soup (pho). If you wont to keep your blood pressure low go with the sping rolls. read more

I love this place! Is it fancy? NO. Is it in a nice neighborhood? NO. Are the waiters particularly friendly? NO .... But the food is awesome, and very ressonably priced! This is a hole in the wall , kinda place a little rough around the edges as some , might say. But , I love there food. I usually get the vegetable spring rolls, a super healthy alternative to fried spring rolls, that come with an amazing peanut dipping sauce. Other favorites of mine are the lemon grass chicken (num 33) and the sauteed vegetables with wide rice noodle's! Also,fyi, they deliver a surprisingly cold Corona complete, with frosted mug. I've been coming here for 20+ years & I have NEVER been disappointed by the food on service. I usually get the ginger/garlic chicken or won ton soup with spring rolls (sometimes I can't decide & get one to eat there & one to take home for lunch the next day lol)... my 8 year old son has been coming here his whole life & usually when I ask him where he wants to go to eat it's here. My husband has tried tons of different stuff off the menu & has never had a complaint. Their food is always fresh & so tasty. I also love that the whole staff recognizes us when we're in & if I go in without my kiddo they ask about him. They even send their regards to my father who has lived overseas for 8 years (he was a long time regular there, also) when we go in. Really can't ask for better customer service or food. read more

This place is great I love it. It was my first time here and I think I will be coming back here more often. I have had Pho all over the world and I think this has to rank in the top 3 out of the places I have been all over the world. The place was really clean when we first walked in and we were kindly greeted by a really nice waiter who let us choose where we wanted to seat. There was quite a selection in drinks along with the many choices of Pho or any other Vietmanese dishes. We were brought our food and everything was perfect full of flavor. I've been here twice and wasn't impressed with their pho either time. The restaurant is also grungy/dirty.

We got the beef pho, chicken saute, cream cheese rangoons, and the thai tea without boba pearls. The Pho was great, and they don't charge for extra sprouts, jalapenos, basil, etc. The chicken saute was so freaking good. It came chopped with veggies and mixed in a teriyaki-like sauce. Thinking about it makes me want some actually. The portion isnt what you get like with the Pho but it is a good amount. The cream cheese rangoons have imitation CRAB in them so I didnt like them because I only like real crab but if you like that sort of thing then theyre probably great. Thai tea was good as well. We'll be back for lunch, although the place is a little creepy and shady looking so we won't be coming past dark... haha. read more

Pho 7 is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto. It's not the absolute best Vietnamese food I've ever had, but excellent for the Modesto area. (I worked in Asia for 20 years) I've also found the waitresses very friendly, and if not too crowded, quick to get my order. (try to avoid rush hour). I still work out of the country a lot, but even after returning months later, they always remember me, which is nice. Yes, the shopping center in not modern and a bit run down, but I go for the food! read more

Very fresh and delicious Pho. Large portions and lots of veggies on the side that you can add. The spring rolls are super yummy. They have quite a few vegan and vegetarian choices. My son loves the Mongolian beef and my husband only orders the shrimp rice chowder. It's comfort food for sure and if you have never tried rice chowder, you should! Location isn't the best and the place has gotten a bit rundown. ( parents used to own a store next to pho 7 and it was better back in the day ). Friends with the owner who is a good guy but not the best waiter Lol. Staff that are actually there are quite helpful however. First time here and we were pleasantly surprised. PORK and WONTON noodle soups we had were good and had lots of pork and wonton. Price was quite reasonable too. $32 for two included 4 awesome pork & shrimp eggrolls, 2 nearly 3 cup each noodle soups and 2 imported beers. Neighvorhood it is located is not the best. On vacation back home and decided to go to a childhood favorite to enjoy the food I used to eat as a child. Sadly the customer service was extremely poor. The staff never came to check up on us to see how we were doing. I had to get up to tell them we needed more water. The man who took our order COMPLETELY and PURPOSEFULLY forgot an order. I know that he did it on purpose because I asked the person when the order was coming out or if they just didn't make it yet; mind you the order wasn't made at all after everyone else got their order 10-15 minutes before anything was said. They eventually bring it out and I was "meh" about their service. I still gave them a tip which I shouldn't have. The reason why it was purposefully not done was because the man had a personal family grudge/issue with the person who had the missing order. I didn't know until after we were out of the restaurant. I wouldn't make such a big deal, but it is so unethical to an owner/business to create poor customer service based on personal biases. My husband that his food was very oily (veggie fried rice) and I had noodles so it was okay. Nothing special about this place, except their bad customer service. Thing that bothered me the most was that is was not busy. There was only 2 other tables being waited on so they were free on time to come check on customers, but cared not to. read more

My gf turned turned me on to this place a few years ago and Ive been going ever since. Location wise its not the nicest but if your looking for good food they've got it. Ive tried several things on menu, my fav is spicy lemon grass chicken with white rice, spring rolls are good (they've changed peanut dipping sauce to a thinner version thankgod)) and the rice and noodle plates are pretty good. The guy that runs the register and dining area is harmless so dont let him scare you off. LOL He reminds me of the crazy uncle that you have to see every xmas hehe. read more

This place has been here for ages. Food is good for the most part for Modesto. The service is on and off as sometimes the owner is nice and other times a bit rude in an awkward sorta way. Rice plates can be inconsistent. Best thing about this place would be the Pho and the worst would be the inconsistency on the rice plates. Been here maybe 30 times being a long time Modesto resident--- the worst experience would be a fried rice takeout. Started getting something crunchy when eating and thought it may have been the black stuff off the wok that builds up, but then discovered it to be egg shells all mixed into the fried rice... :( read more

A few years ago I wrote a review of this establishment, and it was glowing. Sadly, the quality of their food dipped to the point where I had to stop visiting the establishment. The customer service was always questionable, but I attended this location for the good food. This means, when the food is no longer good, they no longer earned my business. Love this place except for the "shrimp poo" learn to clean your shrimp correctly! ! Been coming here for years and it never fails there's always poop in the shrimp!! I'll keep coming back but will not get shrimp in my soup anymore! ! read more
