Pho within walking distance of my house. That alone earns big points. The meatball pho is amazingly tasty. And, like most pho places, the servings are enormous - a small bowl runs less than $5. The flavors are potent without being overpowering, if that makes sense. Additionally, I had to try the spring rolls; they were both gigantic and delicious. The peanut sauce served on the side was incredible, too. My friend got the small chicken rice pho (her first attempt at Vietnamese noodle soup!) and really enjoyed it as well. As an aside, she's recently been having stomach issues, and she said this was the first thing she'd eaten in days that hadn't left her regretting consumption. Oh, and did I mention the boba? I don't think I've ever seen so many tapioca pearls in a drink before. The honeydew and the lychee are both to die for, not to mention practically a meal in themselves. We were both surprised in how big the servings are but mostly how good the food tasted! My husband and I usually don't crave vietnamese food but something about that night led us to order here for delivery and we were very satisfied with what we got. He ordered pho and I had one of the mixed rice bundle with bobba tea. Only thing was my tai tea bobba did not come with any tapioka. Since moving to Colorado from Northern, VA my wife and I had been looking for a good Pho place. We ventured in to the bowels of Federal and went to a few sub-par Pho joints. Driving around one afternoon (as we do frequently) I saw Pho 78 from the road and said lets go for it! I am SOOO Glad we did. I finally dragged the husband in for pho! After weeks of pleading and puppy dog eyes, he gave in! He refused to trek down Federal to Pho 95, and Pho 78 is much closer to us, so he conceded and I celebrated my victory. We went around 3 pm, and the place was surprisingly busy (6 or 7 tables full). We got some spring rolls to share, I ordered a Thai tea, and we waited. The spring rolls came out a few minutes later- they were okay but not great. The rice paper wrapper was a bit gummy and too chewy. Peanut sauce was served warm- a first for me, and I would've liked it a little sweeter, but that's just my preference for peanut sauce. For pho, I ordered the rare steak and flank, and he ordered the chicken. I definitely don't consider myself an expert, but their broth was more bland than what I've had elsewhere. It was not as rich or flavorful as I've had. Adding the obligatory fish sauce and Sriracha helped. I'm fairly sure that they gave me brisket instead of one of the two meats I ordered, but I couldn't tell you which one. They skimped a bit on the meat, also. My husband's bowl was full of chicken, though. Overall, it was okay. If I were in the neighborhood and a craving struck, I'd go back again. I am, admittedly, not a Mistress of the Pho yet. I still don't quite "Get" the allure. I mean, I *want* to like it, but I don't think I know how, or maybe I haven't had the right bowl yet. Pho 78 is the only bowl I've had. I've been 3 times, and each time, I go in wanting to love it. I love most Asian soups. Even basic Miso makes me smile and all warm and bubbly. I love lemongrass soup. Good Ramen. Thai soups. Love them all. So why don't I love Pho? Pho 78's broth left a mostly "funky" flavor in my mouth... not the good kind of "funky".. where I can taste all sorts of intricate flavors. The kind of "funky" where I'm left trying to figure out exactly what I'm tasting. The noodles have ranged from chewey and good to soggy and smushy. This place has really improved since changing ownership earlier this year! Besides it being about 2 minutes from my place, almost everything I've ordered here is delicious. Rarely out in this area of Denver, live way southwest in Morrison. Was attending an indoor soccer tournament, my mentee. Prior to game, hungry, with time to spend, tapped into Yelp and found Pho78! Very good, busy, good service, terrific tofu option. My wife's carnivore choice was also notable. Cannot get enough basil, sprouts, lime, and chilies! Recommend this out of the way restaurant. Verrrrry disappointing dining experience. Pho 78 used to be our "go to" place for Vietnamese noodle bowls. However - and sadly - not any longer. This was our first visit since the change in ownership/ management, a few months ago. First thing we noticed was the completely different decor. That should've been a tip off. Menu appeared the same. I ordered my usual noodle bowl with Vietnamese eggrolls. As soon as my bowl arrived, I noticed the eggrolls looked significantly different than they used to. Previously, their eggrolls were flavorful, with a light, yet crispy skin. They were very tasty. My noodle bowl, tonight, appeared to have the type of dry, over baked or over fried and extremely bland eggrolls you might find in your grocery freezer section, and DEFINITELY not a true Vietnamese eggrolls. My wife's eggrolls were cold. The eggrolls in our bowls were not even up to Panda Express flavor standards. Bland. Dry. Flavorless. Gonna have to find a new "go to" spot. read more

I used to think Pho sucked because of the slirping mess, but this place makes it so good that I ordered several times to learn how to eat it with less mess. I like the rare steak and brisket style. Unfortunately all good things must come to an end. I have been eating at Pho 78 for years, I would guess over a hundred times. I gave Pho 78 3 chances since the new ownership and each experience was worse than the previous. The only thing the same is the menu. The food is considerably worse and the service is a disaster. The waiter and waitress were more concerned about their phones and speakers than providing service. At one point I had to ask the waiter to turn his music down. As for the quality of the food, I guess I took the old ownership for granted, there is no comparison. There are other Pho restaurants in the area and they will be getting my business. My advice to you would be to do the same. read more

I'm no pho expert but this was good! I really enjoyed my rare steak pho with rice noodles. My second pho experience and this one was superior. Service was pleasant. I'm from the San Gabriel Valley in California, which is one of the Pho capitals of the west. So I didn't have high expectations for this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. I made the right choice coming here. The Pho was delicious!!! The broth, the meat, and the noodles were very tasty. I got the Brisket, size medium. I ate everything and they were pretty generous with the meat. I never finish all the broth but this time I came close. So I highly recommend this place for a good bowl of Pho. Especially on a cold night. PS they're closed on Tuesdays. Found that out the hard way. On a cold, cold, sad night that I was craving pho. read more

We only do take out from here, and the people on the phone are a little brisk, trying to get off the call as quickly as possible. Sometimes I wonder if they took the order correctly, But we've never had a problem with our order. Everything we've had there: pho, spring rolls, rice bowls, noodle bowls have all been excellent! This used to be my roommates and I favorite pho spot but now I am so disappointed to have to say I would never recommend them... we used to go all the time but since the recent change, things have never been the same. A month ago we went and the pho broth tasted like soap. We decided to give them one last try and sadly they have let us down again. We will never be returning! I got a noodle bowl with chicken and the chicken did NOT look or taste like chicken. Some pieces looked undercooked while others looked spoiled (dark grey and hard) The first piece I tried tasted like bad pork. I brought this to my servers attention and she proceeded to tell me it was indeed chicken. She didn't even look at it but said she would go ask the kitchen. When she went back there the whole restaurant could hear someone yell, "yes, it's chicken". Long story short, the server was unbelievably rude and the food was disgusting. Spread the word! This place is probably the best pho place I've been to in Denver (I guess technically Westminster?) thus far (n=3). The thing that really stands out though is they gave culantro (ngo gai) whereas the other places I've been to, have not. The cha gio were tasty and came to the table fresh out of the fryer and blazing hot. The only weird thing was that instead of lettuce, it came with raw beansprouts. Surprisingly, it worked...but I think I'd still prefer the lettuce. The only thing that kinda bummed me out was that there was no sate (roasted chili oil). Correction, there was none at the table and I did not ask. I've noticed that depending on where you are geographically, the Vietnamese restaurants will, as a standard of practice, either set it out on the table or will not. Why, oh why does every Pho (insert any number less than infinity) restaurant look like a cafeteria at an assistant living home? No decor, no ambience. The mess tent at the 4077th M.A.S.H.unit had more atmosphere, and the food was served with a ladle on tin plates. The portion sizes are big, including the colossal spring rolls. But,the problem is they don't cut them in half to share, and honestly, what's that thin layer of mystery meat inside? Add the fact they don't serve alcohol is a recipe for take out. read more

I ordered online and went in about 20 minutes later to pick up. It took around 10 minutes for anyone to greet me/ ask the name for my order. When someone finally did, they checked the take out orders on the shelf and said mine was not ready yet. I continued to wait. About 15 minutes later someone else asked my name. When she pulled me up in the system to check my order she told me they had run out of pho. No one called me prior to tell me or even bothered to tell me during the 25 minutes I stood there waiting. First time back after new ownership and I would say how horrible. Services was very slow. We ordered our food first and 3 couples that came behind us ordered there food and was served before us. Waited 30mins for Pho, and the other 3 couples ordered pho too and they got there food first. Taste of The food wasn't as good as The previous owners, potions was very skimpy. The waiters payed more attention to there phones then customers. This used to be my favorite place to go get pho but after today not no more. I'll make the drive to Pho 79 on 120th and Main. AMAZING BOBA drinks and Food! I would highly recommend getting their "#2b Com Dac Biet" on their menu as you get to simply sample the best of both worlds with the amount of different flavorful meats and steamed rice with fried egg on top; don't forget the fish oil. Also, I would recommend their Jasmine Milk Tea (a nice subtle drink that isn't overwhelming with sugar or strength of the tea). I have had the pleasure of meeting the owners and they are extremely kind and humbling individuals; the owner even gave me a free Boba last time since it was my first time trying a new flavor of theirs : ) The restaurant is also very clean, which I appreciate when I dine out. This place was AWFUL. With so many pho places around 120th, I suggest taking the drive up rather than eat here. We started with spring rolls - the rice poet was tough and the peanut sauce really had an impact on us...it was gel like and just didn't taste...right. The pho was missing flavor in the broth and honestly wasn't at all what we were expecting. The service itself was okay-they sat us right away but it took a few minutes to get our order. My favorite Pho in Colorado. I haven't been to 95 yet though. This is the north areas best and most consistent pho joint. When I crave pho this is what I want. I've been eating here since the old Pho 79 on the east side of 78th and Federal closed down. The herb plate is always fresh and overflowing. My wife always gets enough limes. The broth is here is nearly perfect. They also have the best salty lemonade sodas. The service is average for pho. But my water glass is always being topped-off.
