I am sad and disappointed. I've gone to Pho 79 various times and never had a problem, but today I noticed something in the fish sauce, the liquid in the glass container, HAD AN ACTUAL HOUSE FLY floating amongst the liquid ( and I do have a video of it). I was pouring it in the soup various times and noticed the FLY when I had nearly eaten the whole soup and quite frankly I don't know how long it's been marinating in there... This is a sad day, the place has assisted me in getting through the school semesters when I had to wind down from classes, and enjoy a nice meal. BUT this makes me think about how long the restaurant may have overlooked certain things and health protocols that may endanger our health. Please pass this along to FIU students. To the Owners/Managers... please be more careful and pay f**king attention to how you coordinate things and how you manage your staff to look out for shit like this. Someone could get very very VERY sick if you aren't not attending to these details. As well, I ran into a friend after the restaurant and told him what happened... he told me of stories that others have told him about unsafe and unsanitary practices. I apologize to the establishment but this is something that MUST NEVER BE PUSHED ASIDE. read more

My favorite is the Bún bò Huế which is a rice noodle soup dish that comes out piping hot with sliced beef, cha lua (pork roll sausage), sliced pork knuckles, and most importantly the silky pork blood cubes. My first time beef pho, I finished the whole bowl and it was huge size and pass out till next morning. Pho is one Vietnamese food that you either get it or you don't, many places would have it in their menu but can't deliver a tasty pho when you bought them. I like it very hot and I add the chinese bean sprouts, mint, coriander and a dash of the jalapeño and lots of lime- my goodness I'm getting hungry just writing about it. Got the #32 for my mom--Tai Chin Nam Gau Gan- same as mine but in addition has fat tendon. She loves tendon so yeah --all the good stuff from mine but some tendon which she reminds me is so good for you for its cartilage and collagen content. We also got the Tom lan bot which are the fried shrimp (appetizer) its super yummy and the sauce too perfect starter. I have had the spring/egg rolls and didn't find them as tasty. And I had to get their fresh lemonade which is super refreshing. You have to go get some pho from Pho79 when you have time. The staff was amazing, attentive and very accommodating for the party of 12 came 10 minutes before they closed and even turned on a birthday song to celebrate our nephews 10th birthday. Hands down the BEST pho in South Florida. Friendly fast service and their pho is phonomenal... lol I won't do that again I promise. Anyway the bowls are huge so I usually don't get appetizers but #15 Goi Cuon aka spring rolls are a perfect way to start your meal if you're extra hungry or just want to try something new- I prefer the shrimp. The cool thing about this place is you can order by just using the number next to the item on the menu. That saves you from mispronouncing the words if you don't speak the language. Here's what I ordered. #25 Eye Round Rare Steak, Beef Brisket - I ordered a medium and still had plenty left over. I loaded it up bean sprouts, mint, Thai basil, culantro and just a slice of jalepeño. I usually look for that slice of jalapeño and remove it once my broth has reached my desired heat level. I always ask for an extra plate and add equal parts hoisin and Sriracha sauce to it. I then take pieces of the beef and dip it into the mixture while enjoying the pho. So good!! Update DEMOTION to 1 star: Confirmation that thai tea milk was not fresh, not even 20 minutes after eating, became nauseous and dinner made a reappearance. Have been coming here for a couple years now to this location across from FIU. Pho is always good and I do eat in and do take out too. Obviously eating in is easier and fresher too. I do like to get my bean sprouts steamed is the soup stays hotter. Just make sure to ask the wait staff when you make your order. Saves everyone time. I do like their broth as it is boiled with the right amount of spices usually or on the lighter side: they always provide you with bean sprouts, Thai basil, sawtooth Coriander, lime and a few slices of jalapeño. Well for take out, you get a choice of them cooking the beef for you(#24 or any of the soups that include the rare beef(eye round) slices. I always ask them to leave them raw. When I get home. I boil the soup and they lay out rice noodles(I usually quickly dip them in hit soup to keep my soup nice and hot at home) in the bowl followed by your other beef toppings, then with the rare beef. Followed by the chopped green onions & cilantro, herbs and jalapeños. After soup is hot I par boil the bean sprouts for about 10 -15 seconds and top them in the bowl. I then paddle the soup on. It's ready to eat at home now. Add your sriracha, hoisin and like to your preference. I usually will ask for the chili garlic or hot chili oil. Sometimes the jalapeños are not very spicy. I called the business immediate and informed the manager Nina which denied wanting to share her name. Her first question was "Are you sure you found a hair?" LMFAO!! Pho was a bit far from us, located near FIU in a large strip center, so parking was easy. We were fortunate to score the last table. Heavenly! The bowl was filled with mint, cucumbers, carrots, scallions, sprouts, and lots of the heavenly pork. I couldn't get enough, but left with a huge portion in a take out container. My daughter ordered a medium pork pho, which she said was fantastic, and also left with a huge container. So for $22, we had the equivalent of four servings of the best Vietnamese food we'd ever had. Went to have some Pho yesterday at this location. Have to say I was a bit shocked at the increase in there prices on a bowl of Pho. Last time I ate at this location was pre pandemic, but they have doubled there prices. I paid $16.99 for a small bowl with a couple pieces of meat and maybe a half cup of noodles. Mostly broth. If you're Asian and want actual pho. DO NOT COME HERE. It's not authentic Vietnamese. Ordered medium house noodle, the both was tasteless with too much noodles in a small bowl ($15.55). Noodles were pre-soaked which was brittle and broken when broth was put in. The broth was luke warm, not hot. Could barely swallow the noodles with the little broth. There was a foul smell in the beef/broth itself, making it uneditable. Also ordered tofu rice plate and tofu was over Fried. It looked good on the plate until I ate it and than all I could taste was the chard black burnt tofu overtaking all the flavors of the dish. Overall not a good experience at all. We told the waitress the pho was not good and we didn't eat it - but with no authority all she could do was apologize for having horrible food. DON'T EAT HERE. Walked in here on a Monday night for a quick bite with a friend. They were pretty busy, but we were fortunate there was a table of two that had just left and got seated right away. We ordered a shrimp roll to share and it was pretty fresh. I unfortunately didn't realize the roll had vermicelli noodles and only had a bite because I'm avoiding certain carbs. Nowadays Pho 79 is everywhere. Originally a restaurant that started in Davie, they've expanded to Miami and are now officially a chain of sorts. I had had this restaurant on my list of to-dos for the longest time and I can now say I've gone. We went rather unexpectedly, and from the get go, I felt rushed. Rushed to get a table, rushed to order, rushed to leave. That is the sole reason I cannot grant five stars to this establishment. It was just too much of a pet peeve despite everything else being amazing. Getting the negative out of the way, prices are ridiculously economical. If you go for the small, you won't even spend $10. Mind you, to get an idea, we both got medium phos and easily could take leftovers home. I had the #24, which was joined by a #34. For my #24, I even asked them to cook the meat beforehand. I know that sounds blasphemous, but I don't eat raw meat. The pho supposedly cooks it, but eh, it's a matter of personal preference. I'm just happy they accommodated me. I also tried the pork and shrimp rolls. They weren't bad, just cold, but apparently this is the style. The sauce that came with it was delicious. I'd eat these again, next time fried though. I prefer warm dishes. Still, the winner is the pho, so go for that. read more
