This is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Fort Myers. The staff is so efficient and helpful when clearing and setting the tables. Service was great. The special combination pho had most meat I've ever gotten in any pho place I've ever been to! The broth hit the spot when Florida gets a little chilly. I was able to order an extra side of the pho soup for my daughter which I appreciate. I also love that they have boba drink options; that Thai tea = perfection. I usually order the pork and rice dish. The pork is marinated beautifully and the meal comes with an egg which I think completes the meal. Don't forget to ask for a side of fish sauce! I like this family. I walked out full and content. But .... I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that I believe their recipes are "dumbed down" for local clientele. I base my comments on Vietnamese meals I've had in Atlanta and NYC. *** Spring rolls are a one-time deal for me. Where's the rice vermicelli, mint, and cilantro? Maybe some shredded carrot? While the peanut dipping sauce was fine, our rolls were just stuffed with lettuce, topped with shrimp. Booooring. *** The pork banh mi was unlike any I've had. It was filled with meat -- a very saucy meat -- and the roll was crisp. BUT ... no pickled daikon, carrots, cucumber. Just cilantro, which I need to spread over the pork. Good. Tasty. But if I was blindfolded, I'd never know I was eating banh mi. *** Pho. Great! Aromatic! T's came with a generous amount of brisket and flank steak. I ordered shrimp pho. Hmmm.... next time I'll go with vegetable, as I don't think the shrimp -- a bit overcooked -- added anything to the soup. BTW, I'm glad I asked that they go a bit light on the noodles. Omgsh this place is so cuttttee! They have fun neon signs and traditional decor inside. The family that owns and runs the business is so friendly and accommodating. I am addicted to their Bahn Mi, every protein that you can think of in this sandwich I am addicted to it if they made it. I found this place reading their reviews and while I prefer certain dishes from other locations Pho 99 is right up there on my top Vietnamese restaurants. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming, it's so nice to be greeted with a smile. This is the BST pho in Ft Myers I have had. The broth is so good and just has this taste to it that I haven't had anywhere else. The appetizers are also amazing, I especially love the gyoza/dumplings. The meats are always so tender and cooked just right when it gets to the table. The service is always fantastic, they don't come by every 5 seconds but are always available when needed. They're also very friendly and from what I think I heard, it's family owned and the mom makes the broth? Again, not sure if this is accurate but if so I love it! On the coldest day of 2022, everyone else had the same idea as us...pho!! We arrived a little after 5pm to a packed restaurant and an exhausted staff who was doing a great job of keeping up with the madness. As we sat down we overheard the server tell the table next to us that they were almost out of pho. I was so glad that we arrived when we did, because everyone after us was turned away. (The server later told us that it takes them at least 24 hours to make a batch of their broth.) We started with the shrimp egg roll appetizers, which were out of this world. I was afraid the shrimp would be over cooked, but it wasn't. My only complaint was that there were only 3. I could have eaten 3 by myself, but alas, decided to be gracious and let my shrimp-living husband have 2. I had the eye of round pho and my husband had the shrimp (big surprise!) pho. We both ate every bit of the huge bowls. The broth is amazing, and if you've never tried pho, you'll be surprised with the fragrance of cinnamon and clove wafting from the bowl. My beef was served rare and was delicious. (It "cooks" in the broth) My husband had 6 shrimp in his bowl and was wishing for more. Accompanying the bowl was a plate with Thai basil, sliced jalapeños, and lime wedges. The only thing I was missing was bean sprouts, which I've had with pho at most restaurants. 3 things about this place: 1. There is a same exact spot where I'm living in Hartford, CT. What a small world. The menu looked exactly the same and had to give it a try. The place was clean and and friendly staff. 2. Egg rolls were cooked perfectly and went well with both sweet chili sauce and peanut sauce which I have asked for. #17 had Eye Round Steak and #20 had Eye Round Steak + Brisket and they were both so tender that the meats melt in your mouth, just like how I remember CT being as well. 3. I believe the server's name was Thomas and he was phenomenal. Even when the place was busy, he came to the table and checked to see how everything was. My sister and I have been here a couple of times and he has been amazing every time. My daughter and her friends love this place- the restaurant is cute and the people who run it are so friendly and attentive! The food there is consistently good and the portions are generous! We asked her to bring home take out for us, and we asked her to choose for us. We were not disappointed! We started with an order of the fried beef egg rolls. They were crispy and not at all greasy, even after a 25 minute drive from the restaurant to our home. The pork and rice dish was delicious- the pork was nicely seasoned and the eggs and vegetables were fresh and crisp. The chicken pho was outstanding- included was a bag of bean sprouts, herbs, vegetables and sauce packets so I could tailor it to my taste. I had enough left over for two people for lunch the next day, and it reheated well. In fact, since everything sat in the soup overnight, the flavors were intense! Ok we have conquered two ox tail Pho's !!! Notice this place was open when we drove by and came in for late dinner. I noticed the sign on the counter... 2 ox tails left... sold!! Two ladies came in after us and it was sold out ( haha cause we got the last. The pix does NOT do it justice. It had soooo much meat in it! I LOVE THIS PLACE! Honestly, one of the best meals I've had since I returned back home two years ago. Just as good as any Vietnamese I've had in Seattle, San Francisco, LA, and NYC. The vermicelli bowl is a terrific value, and the taste was glorious. The blend of spices they used in the meat, the fresh veggies and herbs, everything about it was perfect. I've been trying all the new Vietnamese restaurant pop ups recently. I've been to pho99 twice in two weeks and hands down, this is best pho in ft Myers and Naples. They do not seem to take the shortcuts or dilute their broth when it's busy. The oxtail pho is something magical that's a must try for $15. It takes time, passion and a variety of high quality fresh herbs and proteins to cook up the broth. So is it worth it? I'd say definitely yes. Every bowl is loaded it's mounds of meat. If you like strong sweetened iced coffee - try this version made with condensed milk for $4. A bonus, they filter their water so their ice water pho broth doesn't have the weird SW Florida sewage taste. Can't wait to try their rice dishes. read more

Pho 99 is the latest Pho place open in Fort Myers. Officially open for three weeks. We sample the food on a Monday night dinner. We noticed beers and wines are not available. OK. No problem since this is a new establishment, beer or wine license will require a little time to procure! I asked for Coconut Juice/Water. No! They don't have Coconut Juice/water. So, we all have hot tea instead of beers, wines or Coconut juice/water! We ordered a shrimp spring roll. It came with Peanut sauce with one slice of carrot and two shrimp spring rolls. Not too much of presentation! If the spring rolls sit on top of a lettuce leaves with a few cilantro on top, it will add more color appeal! The spring roll has too much of lettuce and missing my favorite ingredients like carrot, bean sprout, pickled daikon, parsley, Cilantro or mint. It is rather bland and need some seasoning! We have Hot and Spicy Beef Noodle Soup or Bun Bo Hue, Eye Round beef with beef ball noodle soup or Pho Tai Bo Vien, and grilled pork chop or Com Suon Heo. The first thing to check is their broth. They are rich and fragrant beef broth. Check! Is the meat fresh Yes, fresh and mix in steaming hot broth! The beef meat balls are tender and not hard. The portion is huge. The grilled pork chop is tasty and surprise us with a fried egg and three grilled shrimps. That is not in the menu description! For some strange reason they use small and thin paper napkin. How about replace them with a bigger or heavy-duty napkin? Ambiance wise, the place is clean and tables are well spaced. Our server, Beily is friendly, helpful and efficient.
