    Summer rolls

Our server, who was working alone, was fabulous. She recommended dishes and did a wonderful job with the Bananas Foster! (Worth it just for the spectacle) Although the summer rolls were a bit gummy, our entrées received rave reviews all around.

Incredible food everytime and best around! Always hard to decide between the curry and fried rice but can never go wrong with the pho saté!

We went on Easter Sunday and had a reservation although it wasn't crowded enough to need one. Breakfast and lunch options were available so some of us breakfast while other had lunch. We all enjoyed our food. Lemongrass chicken, bbq pork and beef, and a type of pho were ordered for lunch. Another person had a traditional eggs , meat, and French toast breakfast. I had the Eggs Benedict with crab cake (instead of ham). It was excellent (although the English muffin need to be toasted longer because it was chewy). The side of potatoes was cooked perfectly. Vietnamese coffees is very good but order it immediately because it takes a while to drip brew. Nice interior. Classy but not pretentious. Attentive waitstaff. Good portion sizes and great value. With a wide range menu and quality food, I'll be going back.

Great lunch spot. Very fast and friendly. Portion size is pretty good. So the have French and Asian (Vietnamese) food. Some of the dishes are fusion and some are regular French items or regular Vietnamese items. Place is clean food is fresh. It's a great place to grab lunch.

My husband and I were staying at a nearby hotel and decided to try the Saigon Paris for dinner as we were staying at a nearby hotel. The first thing that struck me was the lovely ambience - a bit formal but not pretentious. Linen table cloths, fresh roses, and a pianist softly playing in the background created a pleasant atmosphere. The menu was half Vietnamese and half French. I ordered the seafood pho and my husband had the sizzling rice with shrimp, salmon and scallops. Both meals came with salads and fresh dinner rolls. The food was delicious! Our entire bill, including a couple of soft drinks only came to $45. A pretty good deal considering the top notch quality of our meals coupled with the entertainment. We would definitely return!

Great meal tonight at Saigon Paris. Enjoyed their Lemongrass Beef. So tender and flavorful with good spice and fresh taste. Our group also enjoyed the curry Chicken, curry shrimp and meatball Pho. Each was excellent and liked by our group. Highly recommend for a fine dining experience without overly high costs.

First impressions, I wanted to run. There seemed to be no one in the parking lot on a Sunday Afternoon, but their reviews kept me walking in the door. When you walk inside, it feels almost like a scene in the twilight zone or the setting of a movie during the luncheon of a funeral. The walls are green and yellow, the booths are upholstered with a floral pattern, no service, and their music is faint seems a little awkward. After being seated you get over the awkwardness slightly. Their menu is expansive, almost overwhelming. I had to just take the recommendation of our server. They have everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I ordered the lemon grass chicken and was surprised when our waiter dropped off soup, I didn't know it came with soup! It tasted like chicken noodle. I enjoyed it. The lemongrass chicken dish was a cutler seasoned and laid on top of vermicelli noodles and layered on top of ice berg lettuce. I was so confused when I saw no sauce and I thought the lemon drop soup was actually supposed to be put on the food. Good thing I was mistaken, the dressing came out. I was relieved when the neighboring table asked the waiter how to properly eat their meal, at least I wasn't the only one who felt challenged. Eating the dish itself I appreciated that it was a huge portion. Overall, I did not vibe with the whole experience. My family loved the pho though, so when we come back I will probably give it a go.

Lemongrass Shrimp and Beef Bowl. So delicious

Another great meal at Saigon Paris. The chef at this bistro is just amazing. There's not very many places that have their menu variety and that each item tastes great. Just wonderful.

The bistro was bustling with full tables. The place has a great vibe and is comfortable and very pleasantly decorated. It reminded us of some of the places we frequented when we lived in Paris. The owner is French as was our waitress, Angelika. We shared two orders of Escargots which were excellent. Salads were served between the courses as a palette cleanser. And then on to two Boeuf Bourguignons for the ladies. My friend had a medium-rare Filet de Boeuf and I had a Canard a l'Orange (one of my favorite dishes) also medium-rare. Each of the dishes was exceptional. For drinks we had sparkling water and a decent house Pinot Noir. My friend took a nonalcoholic wine and a beer. We ended up with an excellent Lemon Cream and I had to have an espresso. The meal was expensive ($332 to which I added a $70 tip) but it was all well worth it. We were visiting from the Boston area, and if we lived in the vicinity we would undoubtedly be regular patrons. I seldom give a restaurant five stars but this one deserves it. I will recommend highly the place. It was one of the best French meals and restaurants at which we have dined in the States.

There isn't a day since then that I don't think about that evening and the great dinner we all had. It was our fourth and last dinner together, we had not been thrilled by any restaurant in the area and I decided to search for 5 star Spanish restaurants in honor of Spain win. Well it did not disappoint. In fact it exceeded all our expectations! The ambiance is striking as you walk in, it throws you off with paintings all over and tables arranged with different style chairs, some with booths and in general old style. I must say it could have been the worst evening. The hostess/waitress/daughter of the owner, Sophia offered to sit us at a mixed table (chairs/booth) . Tables had to be moved and arranged, and the setup was not working out due to multiple issues, sitting between tables and 2 booth chairs, sunlight couldn't be blocked and was bothering one side of the table, and the group was a bit uptight after a negative experience the previous day. So I spoke up and said out loud that the seating wasn't working out. We must have been making somewhat of a scene and the owner/chef, John, came out to check on us, and calm the waters. We were kindly accommodated at a different table right in the middle of the restaurant. There was only one other couple in the restaurant and as soon as they left, the restaurant was all for us! I can't say enough about the food! We started with a few tapas, we shared a paella and others ordered their own entree. Everything was so amazing that we all ended up trying everybody's food. The food had this special taste....basque/french touch from the owners culinary origins. Sophia and John, served us like kings , and handled the situation at the beginning with flying colors. Super friendly, housewarming, and professional. Do not leave before you try the Basque torta. It's like a basque cheesecake. I dream about it every day. Take another piece to go, or you will regret it like we did, when we couldn't go back for more!

We ordered the paella for four with skirt steak, white asparagus, and saffron rice. The portion size was unbelievable. Not only did it feed us dinner that night, but I enjoyed the leftovers for six meals afterward. The saffron rice was rich and flavorful, the skirt steak was tender, and the white asparagus added a nice touch that made the dish feel special. For dessert, we brought home the Basque cheesecake with fig sauce. It was creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness from the fig sauce. Many people rave about the cheesecake, and after trying it myself, I understand why. It was absolutely delicious. We also picked up a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine for $25 each. Both wines paired beautifully with the food and made our takeout dinner feel a little more special. What impressed me most was how well everything traveled. The food tasted as good at home as it would have in a restaurant, and the generous portions meant we enjoyed El Basque for days. Great food, great value, and a meal that kept on giving. We'll definitely be back.

We were guests in what our hosts described as "their favorite restaurant" and Yelp awards a 4-stars review...my conclusion was: either the restaurant was having a really bad night or reviewers have lost their understanding of what a 4-stars restaurant should be like. Our hosts ordered a bottle of white Bordeaux which the owner poured in our glasses as if she was pouring the lowly Sarasota water, filled our glasses almost to the top practically emptying the bottle. Then it was time to order, the lady host asked for the foie gras appetizer which she had absolutely recommended...Sorry, we are out! Appetizers: we ordered 2 Escargots, and the Homemade Country Pâté. The Escargots in herb butter were tasteless (I had to add some salt) and one of the snails was full of stones and grit. Main course: I asked for the Homemade Country Pâté which was portioned significantly less than what our host had gotten...was it to punish me for ordering 2 appetizers? My husband ordered the lamb chops...4 chops cooked to the point where they were tough, and a potato gratin reminiscent of a brick. Our hosts ordered the Pork Marco Polo and the Smoked Salmon Salad. I cannot comment on their entrees even though a comment was made that the pork was overcooked. The Salmon Salad did not look appetizing. But, the 'pièce de resistance' was when our host ordered Crêpe Suzette and was told that 'we are out of orange jam'...whaaat? You can find orange jam in any grocery store, you should never run out of orange jam. We have dined in many restaurant that we felt were subpar, this one won first price. Needless to say, will never go back.
