Pho Bang is my go to pho place when I'm craving some pho. Their broth is good and I've yet to be disappointed. However, the portions are small. At other places, you would get a pretty large portion w just a regular sized bowl. My little sister and I ate here the other day and both got the large bowl. My son got the small size. The small and large were barely different but the large did satisfy out hunger. My favorite is the pho dac biet with bo vien (everything with the beef meat balls). Cha Gio (Egg rolls)- small portion, poor color/presentation Pho- one of the worst pho recipes I've ever had; not sure if it's because I'm not used to the way NOLA pho is or if the broth was particularly bad that day, but it lacked the savory/meaty flavor and the proportion of noodle to broth was off (too many noodles) Com Thit Nuong (rice vermacelli with pork)- bland and lacking marinade and color; it was a large portion, but it needed more lemongrass and stronger seasoning Che Ba mau- the only thing I really liked, but there was too much ice! Ordered Pho Bang from DoorDash today for the first time based on the recommendation from a friend. Got the beef pho with eye of round and lean brisket and the char broiled pork and rice dish as well as tofu spring rolls. Everything was great but the pho was particularly incredible. It was packaged so carefully for delivery, came with tons of sprouts, basil, jalapeños, hoisin and another delish spicy sauce. Tons of beef that was so flavorful. It was a huge portion for a "small" size pho. My husband also loved the pork. The spring rolls with tofu were very tasty. I was a little disappointed that they came with a fish sauce dressing instead of peanut sauce. Definitely want to go back when the restaurants open up again! read more

Feeling ill today so I picked up some chicken pho to go. It did not disappoint. I ordered a large and really once I put in all in a huge bowl at home it was enough for two. I don't think this is the best pho in the city, but it meets your need if you're craving pho. Feeling better (enough to write this review). Came across a tourist who suggested this Restaurant to me while waiting for our order at the supermarket. Pho Bang did have a "bang" effect! The place was clean, service was fast, and ambience was cozy; therefore giving this restaurant a big BANG! The menu was simple with Pho, noodles and rice. A small portion of simple appetizers and a drink portion. They do have bubble tea made with powder flavored tea. The avocado was the only bubble tea made with real fruits. The Pho was outstanding and the large portion was very plentiful! They did not skimp out on the noodles. I loved that fact that all the prices were the same. They did ask if I wanted meatball and didn't disclose an extra $2 extra fee.... Overall,the pho tasted very authentic, had great flavoring and was very plentiful giving it a 10 + rating. The noodle with pork and noodles was good but I don't like warm noodles. I would prefer room temp noodles in my Bun Thit Ngoung. I would would give that dish a 7. The egg rolls in the dish made the dish. It was crisp and delicious in the bowl. The bowl had the perfect amount of pickled dikon and carrot. Best freaking place on the Westbank for Vermicelli bowl and grilled pork. I don't know how the chef does it. I bring people here multiple times per week just to try the #28. The person cooking the pork is a damn mastermind. You've never had such perfectly grilled swine. The ladies that work in the front are hilarious. They always try to remember our orders when we visit multiple times in a week and I really think they tell each other "white guys all look alike" cause they're definitely confusing us sometimes. I work across the street from Pho Bang and I had yet to venture inside until Monday. Although it is a chain restaurant, it seemed to be an authentic place for Pho. I typically go to Pho Tau Bay for my Westbank Pho needs, but I may be switching alliances. I really enjoyed my Pho with brisket and eye of round. The portion of meat in the Pho was large for the price ($5.50 for a small) and very tender. This reminded me of the Pho I was use to eating before I moved to New Orleans. I also had an iced coffee which was delicious. The menu is not as extensive as Pho Tau Bay. They only have Pho, Bun, and a few other dishes (no Ban Minh). The seemingly new menu addition of Crab Rangoon seemed to be a bit off their theme, but my dining companions and I enjoyed it none the less. Overall: Good quality Pho for a decent price. I'm sure it will become a regular stop of mine this winter. read more

I don't enjoy going out to eat pho because I am Vietnamese and I will always say my mom makes it best but since I'm a grown adult and my mom doesn't cook as often, I had to find a way to get my fix & well, Pho Bang does it ! Would never return to this restaurant! They not only served me the wrong dish, but refused to replace it. Not only that, the waitress completely ignored me until I asked for the check. The other times I have been here I ordered the Pho Bo Vien which is the soup with beef balls however, I only got 4 beef balls getting the LARGEST bowl. This pho joint sucks. I'd give this location a solid 4 even though I don't like the Veterans location. I know it's owned by the same people but whoever is doing the pho here does it a lot better. I ordered the sinew, tripe and rare beef bowl and while it's not as good as pho Dahn or Pho Tau Bays, it is still quite a solid bowl. And they have a nice chili oil on the tables. It's harder to customize the soups there because most of the wait staff speak very little or no English but that's ok. After a few pantomimes, I got what I wanted. What made me give this place a solid 4 instead of a 3.5 is when my bowl arrived, it was carried bare-handed by this older gentleman. Decent Pho, not as great as New York Pho but after trying 5 places, yup 5! This is the best Vietnamese pho joint I've found in NOLA. The name got me since I've been to Pho Bang in NYC. The Pho is clear, tasty and fresh. I like my service friendly and fast with no nonsense. This place is actually a chain, I believe the have a few in the New Orleans area, and a few in some other areas around the country with a Vietnamese population. The food doesn't stand out compared to what you find at other places through out the city. It's a little more standard if you will. But this place caters to the population who invented the fine cuisine so you are getting pretty good quality. I would say this isn't a bad place to make your first venture into Pho, that is all I've had here, it was great. Nice large portions, and there method of putting it into take out was hilarious, I collected several large containers afterward. Anyway, unfortunately I don't have much more to say here. This joint is really busy. For busy places, you'd figure that the kitchen would be consistent, *especially* when the only variation is the choice of MEAT and not the broth that douses the meat. That being said doesn't make up for the fact that the pho broth is watery and consistently luke-warm when served. At times the soup tastes like salt-water and others underseasoned. I just can't really stand the fact that it's lukewarm!!!!! Noodle/meat proportion small and at times, non-existent. If you get the flank steak (tai) beware that it's sliced meat placed on top of the noodle and then soup poured on top. If the soup is hot enough, it will "cook" your meat to the point of melting in your mouth. If it's not hot enough, then you'd better prepare yourself for food poisoning. Also served: rice plates and bun (rice noodle) bowls. But honestly, just go down the street a bit and go to Pho Hoa. read more

Pre covid there were only two people working the front of the house as is the case currently, certainly not enough if they wont even look your way for a drink refill. This location is a lot better than their Veterans location. The Pho here is great. I get a large bowl of #14 the Brisket Pho. Comes steaming hot to cook the meat. They have all the regular stuff Thai Basil, lime, and bean sprouts. They also have a sesame seed chili sauce that is epic. Service is non-existent besides when you order, but that is okay. read more

I also ordered the coconut water and was slightly disappointed that I didn't receive an actual coconut (contrary to other locations) The pho itself tasted great and they took their liberties with adding meat. What can I say about PHO BANG? The Pho is great and for people who don't know what Pho is, it is rice noodles with a very favorful broth and slices of beef. Its a little on the high end but its like eating traditional vietnamese food. Service there is fast, food come out fast, and you can get your check fast too. What can I say? This restaurant was not a good one. The server did not attend to us even though we were the only customers, but instead went to answer the phone even though someone else can take the phone since there was more than one person working. And then the food weren't that good either. I had the bun thit Nhung and the meat was so hard to bite I had to only eat the bun and leave the meat. In addition, we ordered some food that they forgot about. But again, we were the only customer, so that just doesn't make sense. And to top it off, they charge a 20% tip (not sure if they did that because they knew we were travelers and was a big family or it is something normal they did). No Vietnamese restaurant impose a set tip amount except to rip you off. Any other restaurant would allow self tip. Never coming back nor recommending this restaurant to family and friends who plan to visit New Orleans. read more
