I live in the area and have been wanting to try this place for a while, but I finally made it in last evening--and I'm so glad I did. Los Altos is a quiet, sleepy town, and it's not exactly the first place you'd expect to find a Vietnamese spot, but this place is a gem that I really hope the locals support so it can thrive. * The Service: The service was standout. There was one young man handling both the register and the tables; he was incredibly friendly and had a big smile for everyone. He even gave my son a free smoothie that had been from a misplaced order, which my son absolutely loved. That kind of hospitality goes a long way. * The Food: I always believe you measure a Vietnamese restaurant by its Pho. It's the staple that gives you a window into the rest of the menu. * The Broth: For me, the broth is everything. You could have Wagyu or Kobe beef, but if the broth is bad, the whole bowl falls apart. I'm happy to say the broth here was excellent--flavorful, clean, and tasted fresh. Most importantly for me: it was served piping hot. Anything less than hot can ruin the experience, but they nailed the temperature. * The Meat & Sides: As you can see from the photo, the meat quality is a step above what you usually get. It was tender, textured, and full of flavor. All the sides--the sprouts, basil, and lemon--were noticeably fresh. * Popcorn Chicken: My son ordered this, and to be honest, it was pretty "meh." It seemed like your standard processed frozen bag variety, though it was at least fried to order. * The Price: At $19 for a bowl of Pho, some might call it the "Los Altos tax." However, when you consider that most bowls everywhere else are in the $15+ range now and don't offer this level of beef quality or such a well-crafted broth, the premium feels justified. You're paying for better ingredients. * The Environment: It is a modern, clean, and quiet space. While I love the energy of a bustling Castro Street, sometimes it's nice to have a peaceful place to eat closer to home. Now that I've found this, I don't have to drive far when a Vietnamese food craving hits! * The Bottom Line: Based on how good the Pho was, I'll definitely be back to work my way through the Banh Mi and the rest of the menu. If you're in the area, give this place a chance--it's high-quality, convenient, and deserves to be a local favorite. * Quick update - I came back the next day for a Banh MI sandwich, and when it was rung up - $15! I recommend driving past city limits to another Vietnamese restaurant if it's feasible for you. I can 1000% guarantee you will receive greater quality food and service. When we arrived (~2:30pm), there was only 1 additional table (seated and eating) and another individual waiting for their take out order. We were hesitant after assessing the menu, prices, and Yelp reviews but chose to stay - 1.) we were hungry 2.) it really was the only location in the area offering Banh Mi's. We ended up ordering a few Banh Mi's (Pork and Grilled Chicken), one of their fresh pressed juices, and the wonton appetizer. The wontons were small, crunchy, and flavorful. The Banh Mi's were good - bread was soft/fresh, meat tender/flavorful, but honestly... disappointing. Oh, and our juice never arrived - although they didn't miss the opportunity to add it on our check lol (it was removed per our request after we noticed it on our bill prior to paying). Service was okay. Staff were friendly but not attentive whatsoever - we were never approached during our visit. In fact, we had to get up ourselves and search for napkins because all the staff were in the back AND we had to request the check ourselves. Once again, if your priority is convenience, then this place may satisfy your craving but keep in mind, there is MUCH better out there. (there were 2 other women, but they didn't seem like they took orders) the chicken banh mi was good. and had all the elements, crunchy bread, good pickles. My pho craving was fulfilled! One of the best foods to have after a night of drinking and going to a concert. The broth was delicious and hot! It doesn't need any additional sauces, just the herbs and lemon was good enough. There weren't any sauce dishes to put hoisin sauce and sriracha on the side, so I just used the same plate with the herbs. The veggie spring rolls were nice. It came with fish sauce, but I think it would be better with the peanut sauce. $16 for pho and $11-12 for the spring rolls. A little steep, however it is a big serving and they weren't skimpy on the meat. It was nice that they have lemon water. I was here on a Sunday during lunch, and I'm glad it wasn't super busy. Simple Vietnamese place -- a bit pricey for Vietnamese, and not that special. There aren't many food options in this shopping center. You order at the front and then they'll bring your food. The bathroom here is blocked off, but you can use the one next door at Green Bakery & Cafe. I had the combination spring rolls with shrimp and chicken. I didn't like how they chopped off the ends, as that made the rolls harder to eat. Rolls had nice presentation though. The house sauce is rather sweet. The staff is friendly. read more

I've come here a couple times and overall, my favorite item here is the vermicelli bowl with lemongrass pork. I've also tried the pho but the broth is a bit too watery for my preference and combo banh mi was also not as savoury or flavourful as I'm used to. Some delicious Vietnamese food! The restaurant is very spacious inside and there are quite a few different types of seating. Their menu is also quite large and has a wide variety of different dishes from the classic pho to rice plates to banh mi and noodle salads. They also have quite an extensive drink menu with different milk teas, smoothies, etc. We got the special combination banh mi with tofu and the grilled pork vermicelli bowl. The banh mi came with seasoned tofu, egg, pickled veggies, and the most delicious pate. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside and enveloped the fillings so deliciously. I was also so immensely impressed with the vermicelli bowl! There was an extremely generous portion of grilled pork that was seasoned so well and was probably some of the most delicious pork that I've had. I also loved how there were bountiful amounts of crispy shallots and scallions on top for extra flavor. The noodles tasted fresh and the fish sauce was great as well. We also got to try the oolong peach milk tea and peach tea, both of which were delicious! I'm quite picky about boba and theses were definitely good quality. Their menu makes me want to come back and try everything on their menu. I tried the Special Pho #1 and traditional springs rolls recently. This day was a record high in the Bay Area, but I thoroughly enjoyed the hot bowl of pho. The meat was tender, and the broth was clean and perfect. They were generous with the meat portion. The spring rolls and fresh ingredients and their peanut sauce eas just right. Since it was a hot day, I had the honey lavender boba drink. There was delicious honey at the bottom of it. Both were better than average. I'd point out how the baguette did not have the authentic texture, but tofu in Banh Mi is not authentic either. So who am I to complain!? The bread was nice and soft and it made a big hearty sandwich. We weren't disappointed about stopping here. I promised my son that after his evening workout I would bring him over to Lee's Sandwiches on Stevens Creek for his dinner meal. I knew that they would close at 8pm (supposedly) so we drove down there without any worries. We arrive with hungry stomaches- we are met by utter disappointment. Exit Magdalena off 280 and drive down the road to Foothill Expressway. Upon entering the shopping center we immediately saw the place. Small, just at the entrance of the shopping center to the right. What first caught my eye was a car parked next to the building at what appeared to be a drive-up pickup window. Ingenious!! My son and I already made up our minds that we were going to stay and eat because it was a nice evening tonight and we were already super hungry. We decided on of course what we came here for (Banh Mi sandwiches) including a side order of crispy wontons and some teas. The lady was quite friendly and when we told her how we ended up here, she shook her head when I mentioned the name "Lee's". We noticed some small tables along the common walkway outside so we decided to sit out there and she said she would find us. We were so relieved when we finally received our orders. Service here is nice and friendly :) We got the special pho, tofu spring rolls, a special combo bahn mi, and some thai iced tea. The thai iced tea was great, can never go wrong. It's also in a large boba cup which is nice. The tofu spring rolls were great as well. Really refreshing with the mint and the sauce you dip it in is a little vinegary which is a great balance. The pho was good but not amazing. It's chock full of the meats which was nice but I was hoping for the broth to be more flavorful. The bahn mi is where it's at. The bread is so soft but has a great bite. It's super lightly toasted. The fillings were great, really packed with meat and has an egg! We came to try this place because of the good reviews, but we were disappointed. We walk in and there is no one to greet or seat you. There is an area that looks like a boba tea counter with someone working there and after waiting a bit, we ask the boba guy if we seat ourselves. He says yes. We get our own menus and seat ourselves. Turns out the boba tea worker is also the restaurant waiter. The waiter takes our order and brings our food. The food we ordered tasted good, but nothing to write home about and it was pricey for what you get. It is Los Altos, I guess. The waiter doesn't check on us the entire time we dine there. At the end, we don't know if the waiter gives us our check or if we pay up front. We find out that you are suppose to pay up front. That's all fine. The same waiter is working the payment machine. My husband inserts his credit card and this is usually when the worker turns the machine around, so you can enter the tip. Well, the waiter doesn't do that. Instead, he just taps the 25% tip button really quickly and then finishes the transaction and gives my husband the receipt. It happened so fast that my husband wasn't sure what happened until after we left. My husband needed to get to an appointment, but he was able to figure out afterwards that he was charged a 25% tip for barely any service. My husband said it looked like the guy probably did this all the time because he was so quick and smooth about it. What the waiter did was wrong. The customers choose the amount to tip based on the service they get. Customers, pay attention when you are paying at this place and remember, you can always dispute charges on your credit card. read more

The meat in the Special Pho #1 was so tender and flavorful along with the broth itself. plus there were many different meats in the pho itself! The Honey Garlic Chicken Wings were crispy and had a good taste of the garlic but could have used more of the honey glaze! Fried Egg Rolls were also very good crispy and had good flavor. The Grilled Pork Banh Mi I ordered was good, but the 3 stars is for the service. You order first, then they bring the food out to you. No one checks to see if you're ok or not. When I asked for a bag or container, I got a frustrated sigh from the lady who works the cash register. The prices are a bit high for Vietnamese food, but it's in Los Altos, so I guess it's expected. Hands down one of the best Banh Mi I've ever had. There's lots of very thinly sliced, tender beef that's full of lemongrass flavor. The sauce on the meat/bread is amazing, with a kind of Chinese five spice vibe but a nice lingering sweetness too. The bread was perfect, hollowed out so it wasn't too bready, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The do chua was well pickled and the jalapeno was a perfect spice level. The cucumbers cooled things down and the cilantro was fresh. If I'm nitpicking, I'd break up the cilantro stem a bit so it's easier to eat bite to bite, and add a little more veg and a little less meat. Overall it was just fantastic - I fancy myself a bit of a banh mi super eater, so that's high praise! read more

Apparently the owner and team changed in 2023. I had a Pho with steak & brisket: While the meat was good quality, the broth was not hot enough to cook it well done which is needed because the steak is cut raw into it, which is the common preparation method. The brisket was too thick. With the broth which is good, but too sweet they have a good base to improve upon. Salt is missing and the typical spices inside the broth as well. Why are they not cooking their own traditional dishes? That would most likely attract more customers. read more
