It was good but I felt like it was missing something. The bun was actually bland despite all the nuoc cham we added. The husband was disappointed no beef bun was available. The servers were really nice. But when we asked if what we ordered had cashews they said no, and then they went to the kitchen and came back and reported that they use cashew oil! I came here on a Saturday for lunch and was surprised there was a 15 minute wait. They have a clipboard with a sheet on it inside where you write your own name and party size down. It was a nice day out so even all the tables outside on the sidewalk were being used. The inside is tight, but can fit a decent amount of people. I was sat inside and ordered fairly quickly. All I had was a large bowl of pho tai. The bowl was a decent size and well priced. There was a good amount of meat as well. The broth was a bit oily though as I like it more clear. I stopped by during lunch on the weekend two weeks ago while was in the area for the long weekend. I remember was craving for soupy food (it was freezing in Norcal during the first two weeks of January 2026) and I was just wandering downtown Los Altos and not sure what to eat. I put my name down on the wait list they had inside. They were pretty busy with few people waiting. I was on a time crunch so I left. The next day I walked to downtown again after all my errands, and it was still early and checked Pho Cabin again and since it was pretty early, there was nobody so I was the first one. The inside is super cute, they really tried to make it like a cabin in the woods. The menu has a variety of dishes to choose from noodle soup to pan-fried noodle to rice plates. I was surprised it offers quite a selection. I went with Pho combo (everything meat) and was pretty satisfied. It was pretty decent pho for the area, not bad, I would definitely come again when craving for lean healthier option of asian noodle soup! This place is not big inside but it feels like you're in a lodge. In addition, they have outdoor seating available. Regarding the food, I tried their brisket pho. The brisket is very soft and tender and the broth is light and good that I finished it all when I usually don't. The servers were nice and great that they have smiles on their faces when they're serving or approaching the other tables. Sadly, throughout my time there, they didn't check on my table if I need anything or how was everything. I even went up to pay for my bill as no one really checked on my table. Crazy how $18-20 is now the going rate for a bowl of pho. I got a small vegetarian pho ($17.49), and although it came with the expected veggies and accompaniments, the broth was not it. There was no flavor and it literally just tasted like water (thus, the 3 star rating). Sadly, this is true of most veggie-based broths I've had. It is shockingly difficult to find a good bowl of veggie pho! They have a few tables outside so that we could sit with our dog (didn't offer a water bowl though, but we travel with our own). Service for outdoor dining is actually better than most. A lot of times you get looked over, but the staff were fairly attentive and we didn't have to flag them down or actively seek their attention. Also... REALLY hard to find the light switch for the bathroom. It'll be on your left hand side as you face the bathroom, right by the paper towel dispenser. I legitimately struggled for a minute or two looking for that! Hopefully this tip saves someone else out there! read more

10/5/2024 The Pho Cabin 200 State St Los Altos, CA 94022 I went there for an early bowl of Pho on a Saturday evening and got seated immediately. It's a cozy street corner location with a clean table and chair setup. We have tried to dine here before but there was always a line to get in and at least a 15 minute wait time. The menu fits on one side of letter size paper and the beef selections featured only lean cuts. I ordered the Brisket Pho which was brought to me promptly. The beef was indeed lean and plentiful. The broth and noodles were good, nothing special. Service was great and I guess it's popular for the lean beef selections with the wait times due to the limited seating. I prefer fattier cuts so I'll repeat if Wifey insists. Free city lot parking is nearby and usually available. read more

The food was a cut above - very fresh ingredients and well-prepared. I enjoyed the vermicelli pork and fried egg rolls, my go-to dish whenever I go to a new Vietnamese restaurant. I went to Pho Cabin the other day. They have vegetarian options as well as different meat dish options. The fried tofu dish I ordered was good and the tofu tasted fresh. Though, I felt the Sweet and Sour sauce accompanying the dish was a bit skimpy ! Other dishes ordered were a Beef Pho bowl and two vegetarian type noodle dishes. All were fresh and tasty from what I was told by my family. Unfortunately , service by our waitress was fair. Due to one of my family member's dietary concerns, she needs all her foods to be cooked or steamed. When she explained this and how she needed her meal prepared , the waitress seemed a bit taken aback. My family member explained the owner knows her and has done this before . The waitress seemed to then accept the request. What bothered me was how after the explanation was the curtness and feeling of exasperation the waitress exhibited because she had to write down a few more extra words on her order tag. Outside of this , service by the Owner and other staff was great. Ambiance is good. More of a simple restaurant or cafe type setting. You have an option of inside or outside. Cost is a bit on higher side but considering it's location this would be expected. read more

Came with my partner and we ordered the Large Beef pho and small Chicken pho along with a Vietnamese iced coffee and sat outside since the day was nice. Service was a bit slow, not sure if that is because we were outside or something that they need to figure out since it looks like they had 2 servers but they were both coming outside and serving different tables. Both the chicken and beef were pretty good, flavorful broths with good noodles and the veggies were fresh. The iced coffee however isn't what I'm used to where they bring a cup out with the sweetened condensed milk and the coffee still dripping. It looks like it was made in a big batch and poured into the glass and wasn't sweet enough. It was hard getting their attention just to order so I didn't bother trying to get them to fix it. Even getting the check was hard to flag them down. Both pho's we're good though so we'll definitely come back and try some of their other dishes. read more

Solid Vietnamese food in Los Altos. We got a vermicelli lemongrass chicken bowl, an order of the grilled pork spring rolls, and an order of chicken wings. Everything tasted great. Chicken wings were crispy and flavorful, the spring rolls were a balance of flavorful grilled meat and fresh, crunchy veggies and herbs, and we loved the lemongrass chicken and the dipping sauce with the vermicelli bowl. I ordered the large combo pho ($18.49), and my boyfriend got the lemongrass pork and spring roll rice plate ($20.95). I am Vietnamese, so I have high expectations, and they did not deliver. The prices are also higher than most Vietnamese restaurants. The combo pho was literally just a mountain of noodles topped with a few slices of meat. At almost $19, I would expect a more generous portion of meat. Meat was tender but broth was lackluster, no depth of flavors and not fragrant at all. It just tasted like chicken broth. The lemongrass pork was solid, and the fish sauce was nice and light. The spring rolls were ok, we thought the wrapping was a little too thick so it was doughy. Overall, this Vietnamese spot is average, nothing amazing. Vietnamese food is full of flavor, and they have a lighter hand on seasoning. For the price point, I don't think it's worth it. read more

I was expecting tofu slices being seasoned and it was thin layers of tofu. I'd say it tasted okay, but I've had better banh mi from Banh Mi Oven and it's cheaper too. The total came out to $16.31, a bit pricier than expected. It doesn't hurt to try out though. Next time I order from here, I do want to try the pho. Really just depends on my mood (and occasionally the weather). Both are tasty, good sized portions, and worth the price. They have a cozy indoor dining area, as well as some outdoor seating with heaters in the winter and umbrellas for the sunny days. We stumbled upon this cute little restaurant in Los Altos. It was open for lunch early (11am) and we were super hungry. The restaurant itself is very small, with only a handful of tables inside and some outside. On this cold day, a big hot bowl of Pho was exactly what I needed. I ordered the Chicken Pho which had a clear and savory broth with shredded chicken breast, noodles, onions, and cilantro with a side of the veg (basil, lime, and sprouts). I ordered the small size, which was more than plenty. We also ordered the wontons which were filled with perfectly seasoned ground pork and shrimp and arrived at our table piping hot right out of the fryer. We also ordered the Pork Bánh Mì. The grilled pork was delicious, but the sandwich was just a bit dry. It came with pickled vegetables and cilantro with just a scant bit of mayonnaise. It was served with potato chips (not something we would consider authentic Vietnamese - more like authentic Lays). The service was good, although somewhat rushed. Tables here are limited, so get here early, especially if it's too rainy and cold to sit outside. If you're in the mood for great Pho, give this cute little restaurant a try. read more

I service was REALLY bad. I was waiting for over 15 mins and no one even acknowledged me. There was one table available but it wasn't clean upped yet. So I Waited and waited. One guy was working and was busy getting receipts and water but didn't even bother to let me know he will be helping me soon. Then after 15 min, 2 more ppl came after me and after 20 min of waiting told us to sign the waiting list. By that time 90% of the tables left. I left and the lady who came after me left as well.
