The Vietnamese egg rolls yummy! Always busy but the waitstaff are the best. You can grab any one of them for help and they are very accommodating. Definitely on my short rotation list.

For starters, we usually order both the fried eggrolls and pork spring rolls. I personally gravitate more toward the fried eggrolls because of the veggies and the sauce they come with. Eggroll plate: 10/10 Spring roll plate: 8.5/10...

For our main courses, I usually order the small beef no meat pho (10/10), the pork banh mi (100/10), or a vermicelli bowl (9.5/10). My husband usually gets the shaken beef rice, which is cubed filet mignon over rice and veggies. That plate alone is a reason to go! (1000/10) He's also ordered the combination rice before. In my opinion, it lacks a little flavor on its own and needs some soy sauce to bring it back to life. For me: 7/10 For my husband: 8.5/10 We've also tried the mango smoothie, and it was delicious! The perfect way to end the night. 10/10 Overall, we'll definitely be back again!!

In the past, I've ordered Pho Tai several times and found it to be good. Lots of people complain about the broth, but I actually like it. When I ordered Phở Gà from here, I thought parts of the white meat chicken were tough and...

inedible. One of my favorite appetizers, Grilled Beef Spring Rolls|Gỏi Cuốn Bò Nướng, is usually great, but for my latest order, I felt there was too much gristle in one of the rolls. I still love the delicious peanut sauce, which you dip the rolls in. I think Pho Ben could have easily remained a go to spot, but there are too many other great Vietnamese establishments in Htown to support a place which serves subpar food.

Had a great dinner at Pho Ben! Was seated very quickly and almost immediately a waiter came over and asked me for my drink order. In terms of the food I thought everything was very tasty and well seasoned. my only takeback was the noodles were cut in half so I couldn't exactly wrap them around my chopsticks. Other than that, I had an absolutely great dinner.

Food 5/5 Service 4.5/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 When you initially think, "wow, that's some good pho," you're usually thinking of some hole-in-the-wall, mom and pop shop. Pho Ben's definitely nicer than a lot of those places in terms of atmosphere - but there's no loss at all in flavor. The Pho Dac Biet was incredible - great selection and quantity of protein, a very rich broth, and wonderfully cooked noodles. It's everything I could ask for after a long day. Absolutely comforting. I also got the Grilled Pork Spring Rolls - also amazing. The peanut sauce was great, but the grilled pork was cooked to perfection. I can't really complain about anything here; great food, great atmosphere, and overall a great place to get a nice bowl of pho.

I've tried Pho Ben a couple times now and it just doesn't do it for me. I started with an order of spring rolls and not bad - but hey it's kinda hard to mess up spring rolls right? The part that bugs me is their pho. The broth is pretty subpar as it lacks depth of flavor. Also, their meat quality seems to be below average. The beef and tripe in my pho were pretty bad, especially the tripe. The tripe was served in giant pieces and was very chewy. I got tendon as well and that was ok. If I ever go back (which I doubt I will), I'd probably get something really safe like chicken and rice or spring rolls.

I used to like this place but my last visit felt rushed and inadequate. The second we sat down, we were asked to order. My beef rice plate was good but had a load of raw onion for some reason that isn't appetizing. My bf got a banh mi with an a fried egg and the egg was like half cooked and completely slimy on top. Pho-Ben messed with me. Since arriving to Houston I've found that service is very slow compared to the Tri-State area. Here, the service is TOO fast. We were seated immediately by the hostess. Before even opening a menu, someone else was at our tableside asking for our order. We ordered a spring roll appetizer and a drink and asked for more time. Someone wrote the order and left a yellow paper on our table. Someone else brought us waters. After ordering, we got up to wash our hands. We were gone for a minute. When we got back, someone had already bussed our table, I guess they thought we left. Since the yellow ticket was gone, our order got a bit confusing for the staff when we later placed the rest of our order. The staff was very friendly. The food was good. The decor is very casual, very modern-houston restaurant, with typical theme. This place is nothing to write home about. We ordered the vegan pho, which was perfectly fine.

Pho Ben is one of our go to Vietnamese spots when we are craving pho. They have some of the best value pho in the Heights area. The pho at their price point is straight up value town. It also helps that the food is really good too! When it gets cold in Houston, expect this place to be packed to the brim. Service: the service here is amazing. They use a whole team of people to serve so all of your needs are taken care of in a speedy time from ordering to filling your drink glass. They are a no frills establishment and provide good food and service at the same time. One might even argue they check up too much on the tables. Ambiance: Pho Ben has an open concept and a lot of tables. Each table has the soup spoons, chopsticks, hoisin sauce, and sriracha at the table. The restaurant doesn't get too loud unless it's jam packed and if you're ordering to go, they are quick with their orders. Once again, this is a no frills restaurant and the inside is simple and decorated for each holiday. Food: the food is what shines here. We ordered their egg rolls and spring rolls to start. The egg rolls come in an order of 2 per order and are $5 per order. The spring rolls with meat come in an order of 2 per order and are $5.75 each. Both are great starters before your main meal and are both reasonably priced. The egg rolls are fried fresh and crispy with good filling flavor and the spring rolls paired with the peanut sauce are also tasty with the grilled meats and chewy texture. We ordered two bowls of the large pho. One was the number 19 which had eye of round beef and meatballs and the other was the number 34 which was the white chicken pho. The beef broth has deep flavor and paired with the condiments and bean sprouts and basil, it makes a complete tasting bowl. Each pho order comes with a side plate of bean sprouts, jalapeños, limes, cilantro and basil. You can add much or as little as you want. The chicken broth is lighter than the beef broth yet still flavorful. Each bowl comes in small or large but get the large because it's only $1 more so it's straight value to get the large. I've also had their bahn mi's here and those are tasty as well. Pro move is to get the bahn mi bread and dip it in your pho. Overall, Pho Ben is our favorite Heights Vietnamese restaurant to get pho and at their price point, they can't be beat. Definitely give them a try even when it's not cold and be prepared to wait a little for a table when the season turns to winter.

If you don't want to drive out to Bellaire, Pho Ben will hit the spot. It's aesthetic, clean, and most importantly delicious. Plenty of parking. Busy but easily seated. Ordered the pho dac biet (combo) and was pleased with the quantity and quality of the meats. The broth was clear and aromatic, not too salty. The herbs were fresh. Overall would definitely recommend. Value ain't bad, bowls are a little smaller compared to others pho places, but you'll still leave feeling satisfied. That being said my overall rating is a 4.5/5!

Blown away! I've eaten at top notch restaurants all over the USA and outside of the USA and I must say this is probably the best customer service I've ever received! We walk in and are greeted right away. Our waiter sat us and was already taking our drink order. We ordered Vietnamese eggrolls and they were out in seconds. Our food comes out three to five minutes later. Everything is made fresh and amazing. Very single person we saw made contact to make sure we were taken care of. Plates were cleaned off seconds as they became empty. Every single person here is on the same page and doing an outstanding job. It's truly unbelievable and becoming a lot art. The customer service here is top notch! We had at least 7 people check on us. Everyone is heads up and scanning the floor to make sure clients have everything they need. Food: the lemon grass beef with fried rice was absolutely amazing! Great deal as they load our plate up. I will definitely be back asap.

For years, The Heights location of Pho Ben has been a reliable go to spot for me. I've always enjoyed the delicious food and thought the service was good. However, lately my opinion has changed, and it seems as though this place has declined in terms of quality and customer service. Recently, I ordered a vegetarian pho with vegetables and beef broth--you have the option of selecting from three different broths. I thought this pho was not up to usual standards. There was a paltry amount of tofu and the two veggies were thinly sliced carrot and broccoli. Really? That's it?? In addition to that, there were only 3 tiny pieces of cabbage, only one of which was edible. My boyfriend, who's vegan and kind of picky, would totally laugh at this. I called the next day to complain about the quality of the pho and gave two phone numbers but never received a call back at either. Because of this, I will not be returning. Pho Ben checks all the boxes for quick, affordable Vietnamese! Located in the strip mall next to Kroger on North Shepherd, the restaurant can easily be missed if you're not paying attention. A friend and I decided to stop by for a casual dinner on a Friday night and were a little surprised to see the restaurant almost completely full! Despite this, we were seated quickly and the waitstaff came quickly to take our order. In terms of options, they have everything you would expect - pho, banh mi, vermicelli, rice stir fry and more. I ended up going with a tofu vermicelli which ended up being a very large portion with a large bed of noodles, chopped lettuce, fried tofu, shredded carrots and peanuts. The meal was good, very satisfying, but not the absolute best flavor and texture of tofu that I've had. If you're going for a quick bite to eat, it will definitely does the job. Prices for everything on the menu are very reasonable and the service was lightning fast!

I can't wait until I am back in Houston to come here and sample the pho! As it was I came just killing time and wasn't disappointed at all in the nibbles I tried. Banh mi was amazing ...even the next day... and the overall experience was worthy of a return visit. They had weirdly good music. Classical when I arrived that transitioned into holiday something but overall very pleasing. Great service, good lighting, and the clientele lets you know it's a place where... yep... eat this!!! Go!

Such a pleasant experience here yesterday. We had gone for a massage close by and needed something more soothing. I took a friend who had never tried pho before. It was sooooo goood! I came to Pho Ben about a year ago, I'm not close but remembered it was here. We both ordered beef tripe and brisket pho, Vietnamese eggrolls, and shrimp spring rolls. The service is excellent here. We even took some to go! I also really appreciate the decor. There seems to be an influx for lunch but they're pretty fast! read more

I tried this place via an order through Uber Eats. I ordered their egg rolls, tofu spring rolls, pork spring rolls, and eye round steak pho. All items were good; egg rolls were maybe my least favorite, but I would still order them again if I had a craving. The spring rolls were fresh and filled nicely so they were hearty. The pho was very flavorful and filling as well. I will certainly be visiting in person some time based on the rave reviews about the decor and staff friendliness - plus I would get to enjoy this lovely meal (or something new) again! read more

I've been coming to Pho Ben for some years now and one of the things I love about this place is its consistency. I love knowing that whenever I come to this place I won't be disappointed. I usually come here alone and I am always greeted with a warm welcome and smile. The ambiance is nice, I love their foliage on walls and the lighting. I usually order the same stuff. Steak Pho and Steak egg rolls although when I cleanse and only eat vegan I enjoy their vegan options. 10/10. You won't be disappointed, Pho Ben does not miss. read more

If you're big on Pho then you know that what makes the Pho is the broth and the broth here is out of this world! Really full-bodied and flavorful, I highly, highly recommend this place. I ordered via Ubereat. I asked for uncooked noodle, so I could cook it myself at home. They instead ignored the request. The noodle was cooked, sticky, cold. They wrapped the drink together with the food bag, which made it spilled all over the food. If you want to try the place, better go to the store and avoid ordering delivery. They will ignore your most minor request and wont care to wrap the food properly read more

I came here for a double date with my brother and his girlfriend. It was a great experience. The food was the usual Pho, nothing out of the ordinary or spectacular. However, the environment is amazing and the servers are so attentive. A few people checked in with us multiple times to make sure we had everything and it was awesome. We ordered the pork spring rolls, which were super good (great peanut sauce) and I got the #30 Pho. The tripe wasn't cut up enough for my preference, but no worries on that. The Thai tea was also amazing. read more

Love this pho place!! Ultimately good food and GREAT pricing, at least good for post covid post inflation pricing. Everything that myself or my friends tried here was all great. Pho is good, banh mi is good, pork chops with friend rice is really good. Service was prompt but you could wait a little bit for your food if they're packed. Love this place and so glad the heights finally has a good pho place. Everything is consistently good! Request: can you please add bun bo hue on your Grubhub delivery menu to match your regular menu please? I am currently dying of a hangover and instead of being able to order it for delivery, the girl on the phone informed me I would have to come pick it up. That's fine because I am craving bun bo hue but it would be nice to be able order everything for delivery, especially when everything hurts. read more

Run, don't walk- to this Pho establishment. Cute decor, great service, reasonable prices - all that jazz. But what really shines about this place is the quality of the grilled meats. The grilled pork and grilled chicken. I MEAN SO GOOD.(Vermicelli dishes) The pork spring roll was probably one of the best I've ever had. THE BO LUC LAC - a must-order. STELLAR. This place is an oddly non-descript gem and I'm afraid people get it mixed up with Pho Binh since they sound the same to us gringos. Get there, we still are talking about it. read more

Really enjoyed the food here. We ordered the followings and we enjoyed every one of them. I also like their decor. If I have a restaurant, I would have very similar decor to how they had (simple but elegant). Pricing is very reasonable as well with decent portion. Stopped in for some takeout pho - ordered via Yelp / Grubhub! It was ready well before the estimated time, so I'm glad I was early. The broth definitely needed rewarding when I got home but overall excellent takeout pho experience. I'll have to come back for dine in! read more

OK, so I was ending my spring cleanse and wanted some hearty fare, so I went to Pho Ben on North Shepherd in the Kroger/Big Lots strip center. Short version: A cute, clean, mom-and-pop type eatery with pretty good food, but the service leaves a LOT to be desired. Long version: I like to grocery shop on a full stomach (it prevents me from buying useless stuff), so I decided to have lunch here on a few occasions before stocking up at Kroger. I've dined here about 3 times so I can safely say that I've given Pho Ben a lot of leeway in terms of dining. For starters, the place is really cute. As other Yelpers have noted, the decor is fresh and clean. Atmosphere is a nice thing to have when dining in, but it's #3 on my top 3 items while eating out. Suffice to say it's warm and inviting. Now for the food. The spring rolls are very nice - big and stuffed with vermicelli, pork, shrimp, cilantro and other goodies. You can tell that they are made fresh because the wrapping is still warm and sticky. The peanut sauce is also good and tasty. I have to give the pho a -1 star. I've had pho all over the city, from downtown to midtown to Chinatown. This pho is pretty mediocre. It's got too much cilantro in it, very few noodles and the flavor is bland. I could make pho from a package and it would taste better than this. However, the saving graces are the banh mis and the "specialty" plates. I tried their house specialty - shrimp fried rice - and it blew me away. Lots of BIG stir-fried shrimp, eggs, bean sprouts and veggies in a mountain of fried rice. At $9.75, this plate is enough to feed 2 people. I had enough to take home as a second meal! If you are a fried rice freak, this is your dish. Now for the banh mis. I've tried two of them - the pork and the chicken. In both cases, they were superlative. Lots of protein stacked between a split, crusty bun filled with veggies. The sandwiches are also under $5 for those of you watching your pennies. While I'm on the subject - why is it that places with "Pho" in their name make better banh mis than pho? I've been to Pho Ben, Pho Saigon and Simply Pho, and their sandwiches are better than their "signature" pho. Conversely, I've been to places like Thien Anh, Mai's and Les Givral's, and their pho is better than their bahn mis! What's up with that? But I digress. So why is this a 3-star review and not a 4-star? Two words: bad service. For me, service is #2 on the list of criteria after food. Service here is erratic. Either they smother you with attention or they leave you for dead. Now, longtime Yelpers are aware of my peccadilloes regarding Vietnamese restaurants. It always seems as if you barely have time to sit down and glance at the menu when the server comes over about 30 seconds later and demands to know what you want to order NOW. And if you don't order immediately or are still deciding, they punish you by ignoring you for ages. (Personally, I can't blame them that much. Vietnam was under French influence for so long that they picked up some bad habits. This is one of them. And yes, I went there. Deal with it.) This last time when I had lunch at Pho Ben, I was saving some leftover peanut sauce to dip my banh mi into. (Try it sometime if you haven't. You'll thank me later.) One too-busy server actually tried to yank it away from me, thinking that I was done with it. Note to all servers in the Greater Houston area - if you want to be missing a limb, try taking food away from me when I'm not done with it. You have been warned, bitches! So - will I return? Probably. I mean, the food is good and plentiful, it's got a peaceful atmosphere and the price is right. Plus, I don't have to drive 20 minutes to get good Vietnamese food since it's in my neighborhood. In all actuality, this should be a 3.5 star review. But as you all know, I don't believe in rounding up. As Meryl Streep would say: "That's all!" read more

Don't let the strip-mall location of Pho Ben deter you, they're serving up some great Vietnamese food. I ordered takeout on a Friday night- spring rolls, pork banh mi, and pork vermicelli. When I went to pick up the order I was surprised by how nicely decorated the restaurant was, it has a classy yet casual vibe. It was also very crowded, but the service was still quick and friendly. I jus Uber eats from here I got pho with fatty brisket tendon tripe and well done flank . So I don't really like the well done flank . I asked if they could just substitute for extra tendon . Y'all why these ppl take off the well done flank thank goodness ....but I have 1 piece of tendon . Literally one square . The way tendon is so cheap n y'all could have spared an extra square lol like bffr . Ridiculous. I'm hungover n just want my tendon pho but I guess I'll have to settle for this . The broth is mid . Seriously my favorite Vietnamese eatery in the area by FAR. I eat here or get takeout at least once a week. Came here yesterday because my boyfriend and I were craving some Vietnamese food, and WOW Pho Ben delivered!! Their portions were huge and the prices were so affordable! I loved trying their shrimp and pork spring rolls wrapped in rice paper and their pho with beef tendon . Found this spot last minute. The ambiance is amazing at this place. Fast service and very friendly staff! We sat in a booth next to this huge wall of Vietnamese culture. It's named "Learn Vietnamese". Super pretty lights. I ordered fresh spring rolls for an appetizer and they were amazing! Paired it with some peanut sauce and siracha. I had high hopes because this was rated so well, but the pho was really not good at all. It was extremely sweet with zero depth of flavor otherwise. I think I ate three bites before I felt sick of the taste. The food did come out super fast and the ambiance was nicer than most Vietnamese restaurants (which did make me suspicious that the pho would not taste authentic). I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. I recently tried the pork Bánh mì from Pho Ben in the Heights, and it definitely hit the spot. The bread was perfectly toasted crispy on the outside but soft inside and held everything together without falling apart. The pork was flavorful and tender, with just the right amount of seasoning. I had an amazing experience at Pho Ben! The pho was absolutely delicious -- rich and flavorful. So satisfying. The customer service was truly 5-star; everyone was so welcoming, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I also tried the beef and rice bowl, and it was just as impressive -- tender, flavorful beef over perfectly cooked rice. Every dish we had was packed with incredible flavor. Wow！I am amazed with the new restaurant on the block. Pho ben has taken me away! I will definitely be bringing everybody from my job to come eat here. The food was great and the service was even better! Even as a to-go customer I was still offered all the attention as a dine in customer would receive. The banh mi and spring rolls are remarkable!! I did take out tonight from Pho Ben! So excited to have a location of my favorite pho place in the heights! The pho is so delicious! Only thing that happened, they gave me the wrong spring roll which I couldn't eat bc I had pork in it :-( But the pho is so good they still are 5/5 stars! Next time I hope to dine in person. This spot offeres great choices for Vietnamese foods. Together with delicious foods and an extremely friendly place to be with your friends or your families. The decoration is very rustic and modern which contradicts many traditional Vietnamese restaurants. Very thankful for them to open during the pandemic and snow storm to serve the locals. read more

The restaurant was quite full, but the wait time was surprisingly short. The waitress frequently checked if we were ready, and once we were, our appetizers and entrees arrived within a few minutes. The scenery was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. Will definitely be returning again! read more

Good foods, good service, and the price is affordable. I love their eggrolls, beef pho, and bun bo hoe. I usually come there at least 2 times/ week, and maybe 3-4 times from now on bcz of my pho craving in this cool weather. read more
