Had a great dinner at Pho Ben! Was seated very quickly and almost immediately a waiter came over and asked me for my drink order. In terms of the food I thought everything was very tasty and well seasoned. my only takeback was the noodles were cut in half so I couldn't exactly wrap them around my chopsticks. Other than that, I had an absolutely great dinner.

I've tried Pho Ben a couple times now and it just doesn't do it for me. I started with an order of spring rolls and not bad - but hey it's kinda hard to mess up spring rolls right? The part that bugs me is their pho. The broth is pretty subpar as it lacks depth of flavor. Also, their meat quality seems to be below average. The beef and tripe in my pho were pretty bad, especially the tripe. The tripe was served in giant pieces and was very chewy. I got tendon as well and that was ok. If I ever go back (which I doubt I will), I'd probably get something really safe like chicken and rice or spring rolls.

I used to like this place but my last visit felt rushed and inadequate. The second we sat down, we were asked to order. My beef rice plate was good but had a load of raw onion for some reason that isn't appetizing. My bf got a banh mi with an a fried egg and the egg was like half cooked and completely slimy on top. Pho-Ben messed with me. Since arriving to Houston I've found that service is very slow compared to the Tri-State area. Here, the service is TOO fast. We were seated immediately by the hostess. Before even opening a menu, someone else was at our tableside asking for our order. We ordered a spring roll appetizer and a drink and asked for more time. Someone wrote the order and left a yellow paper on our table. Someone else brought us waters. After ordering, we got up to wash our hands. We were gone for a minute. When we got back, someone had already bussed our table, I guess they thought we left. Since the yellow ticket was gone, our order got a bit confusing for the staff when we later placed the rest of our order. The staff was very friendly. The food was good. The decor is very casual, very modern-houston restaurant, with typical theme. This place is nothing to write home about. We ordered the vegan pho, which was perfectly fine.

Pho Ben is one of our go to Vietnamese spots when we are craving pho. They have some of the best value pho in the Heights area. The pho at their price point is straight up value town. It also helps that the food is really good too! When it gets cold in Houston, expect this place to be packed to the brim. Service: the service here is amazing. They use a whole team of people to serve so all of your needs are taken care of in a speedy time from ordering to filling your drink glass. They are a no frills establishment and provide good food and service at the same time. One might even argue they check up too much on the tables. Ambiance: Pho Ben has an open concept and a lot of tables. Each table has the soup spoons, chopsticks, hoisin sauce, and sriracha at the table. The restaurant doesn't get too loud unless it's jam packed and if you're ordering to go, they are quick with their orders. Once again, this is a no frills restaurant and the inside is simple and decorated for each holiday. Food: the food is what shines here. We ordered their egg rolls and spring rolls to start. The egg rolls come in an order of 2 per order and are $5 per order. The spring rolls with meat come in an order of 2 per order and are $5.75 each. Both are great starters before your main meal and are both reasonably priced. The egg rolls are fried fresh and crispy with good filling flavor and the spring rolls paired with the peanut sauce are also tasty with the grilled meats and chewy texture. We ordered two bowls of the large pho. One was the number 19 which had eye of round beef and meatballs and the other was the number 34 which was the white chicken pho. The beef broth has deep flavor and paired with the condiments and bean sprouts and basil, it makes a complete tasting bowl. Each pho order comes with a side plate of bean sprouts, jalapeños, limes, cilantro and basil. You can add much or as little as you want. The chicken broth is lighter than the beef broth yet still flavorful. Each bowl comes in small or large but get the large because it's only $1 more so it's straight value to get the large. I've also had their bahn mi's here and those are tasty as well. Pro move is to get the bahn mi bread and dip it in your pho. Overall, Pho Ben is our favorite Heights Vietnamese restaurant to get pho and at their price point, they can't be beat. Definitely give them a try even when it's not cold and be prepared to wait a little for a table when the season turns to winter.

If you don't want to drive out to Bellaire, Pho Ben will hit the spot. It's aesthetic, clean, and most importantly delicious. Plenty of parking. Busy but easily seated. Ordered the pho dac biet (combo) and was pleased with the quantity and quality of the meats. The broth was clear and aromatic, not too salty. The herbs were fresh. Overall would definitely recommend. Value ain't bad, bowls are a little smaller compared to others pho places, but you'll still leave feeling satisfied. That being said my overall rating is a 4.5/5!

Pho Ben checks all the boxes for quick, affordable Vietnamese! Located in the strip mall next to Kroger on North Shepherd, the restaurant can easily be missed if you're not paying attention. A friend and I decided to stop by for a casual dinner on a Friday night and were a little surprised to see the restaurant almost completely full! Despite this, we were seated quickly and the waitstaff came quickly to take our order. In terms of options, they have everything you would expect - pho, banh mi, vermicelli, rice stir fry and more. I ended up going with a tofu vermicelli which ended up being a very large portion with a large bed of noodles, chopped lettuce, fried tofu, shredded carrots and peanuts. The meal was good, very satisfying, but not the absolute best flavor and texture of tofu that I've had. If you're going for a quick bite to eat, it will definitely does the job. Prices for everything on the menu are very reasonable and the service was lightning fast!

Blown away! I've eaten at top notch restaurants all over the USA and outside of the USA and I must say this is probably the best customer service I've ever received! We walk in and are greeted right away. Our waiter sat us and was already taking our drink order. We ordered Vietnamese eggrolls and they were out in seconds. Our food comes out three to five minutes later. Everything is made fresh and amazing. Very single person we saw made contact to make sure we were taken care of. Plates were cleaned off seconds as they became empty. Every single person here is on the same page and doing an outstanding job. It's truly unbelievable and becoming a lot art. The customer service here is top notch! We had at least 7 people check on us. Everyone is heads up and scanning the floor to make sure clients have everything they need. Food: the lemon grass beef with fried rice was absolutely amazing! Great deal as they load our plate up. I will definitely be back asap.

For years, The Heights location of Pho Ben has been a reliable go to spot for me. I've always enjoyed the delicious food and thought the service was good. However, lately my opinion has changed, and it seems as though this place has declined in terms of quality and customer service. Recently, I ordered a vegetarian pho with vegetables and beef broth--you have the option of selecting from three different broths. I thought this pho was not up to usual standards. There was a paltry amount of tofu and the two veggies were thinly sliced carrot and broccoli. Really? That's it?? In addition to that, there were only 3 tiny pieces of cabbage, only one of which was edible. My boyfriend, who's vegan and kind of picky, would totally laugh at this. I called the next day to complain about the quality of the pho and gave two phone numbers but never received a call back at either. Because of this, I will not be returning. In the past, I've ordered Pho Tai several times and found it to be good. Lots of people complain about the broth, but I actually like it. When I ordered Phở Gà from here, I thought parts of the white meat chicken were tough and inedible. One of my favorite appetizers, Grilled Beef Spring Rolls|Gỏi Cuốn Bò Nướng, is usually great, but for my latest order, I felt there was too much gristle in one of the rolls. I still love the delicious peanut sauce, which you dip the rolls in. I think Pho Ben could have easily remained a go to spot, but there are too many other great Vietnamese establishments in Htown to support a place which serves subpar food.

I can't wait until I am back in Houston to come here and sample the pho! As it was I came just killing time and wasn't disappointed at all in the nibbles I tried. Banh mi was amazing ...even the next day... and the overall experience was worthy of a return visit. They had weirdly good music. Classical when I arrived that transitioned into holiday something but overall very pleasing. Great service, good lighting, and the clientele lets you know it's a place where... yep... eat this!!! Go!

One of my favorite places for pho. Just also because they are soooo fast. As soon as I sit down, within 5 minutes I can get a bowl of pho. The pho so pretty good and full of all the essentials - tendon, tripe, etc. For the price of a bowl, it is a good deal. They have the option of a large and small bowl. They also have a lot of options as well as a vegetarian pho option which was perfect for my friend. The interior is also very cute with booths or tables. There is around 30 people worth of seating inside.

We wanted to check out a Vietnamese place closeby without having to commit all the way to Bellaire and saw this on google with pretty high reviews. When you walk in, you're confronted with a beautifully decorated dining room that was small enough to be cozy feeling but large enough to seat many people (our party was a group of 6!) We were quickly seated and they promptly took our order which we appreciated. Most of my table ordered pho which they all raved about it! The broth was rich and flavorful with the fresh herbs to pair. I got the Bo Kho and the beef was very tender but I do think the broth could've been a bit more rich with more in depth flavor. Overall, with a great price to match, I'll definitely be coming back!! read more

Finished off a day of grinding for school with a bowl of pho from Pho Ben in the heights. This is one of their many locations, with the original being in sugarland. The inside of the restaurant was decorated soo nicely, it definitely seems welcoming. I got a small pho đặc biệt, which is the special so I get a little of everything. This includes eye of round steak, well done flank, fatty brisket, soft tendon, and white beef tripe. Even though I got a small, the bowl itself is still very big and they give you a very generous amount of meat. I personally prefer the rare beef over the well done beef so if I were to come again then I'd request rare beef only. The meat itself overall was pretty good though. The noodles were a bit undercooked but I was ok with it. I felt like the broth itself could've been a little more stronger in the beef flavor as well. I would say this is a pho bowl that gets the job done. I usually refrain from ordering pho at Vietnamese restaurants since my mom makes it at home, and nothing will top that. read more

They are pretty unassuming from the outside, but the inside is very nicely decorated and clean. My vermicelli bowl was pretty good too and the servers were nice. I will try some of their other offerings in the future if I'm in the area. read more

I had not yet sat down, and the first of 4 waiters asked if I was ready to order. within 20 seconds (not kidding), a second waiter asked if I was ready! within another 30 seconds, the third, and 30 seconds after him the fourth waiter asked and I gave him my order! those encounters sat my nerves on edge Then went to the restroom to wash my hands, by the time I returned to my table, my order was there - call it 60-90 seconds after placing it. same routine - as I sat down - 1st of 3 waiters: do you need anything else? 'no thanks' 2nd of 3: anything else you need? 'no thanks' 3rd of 3: would you like a fork instead of chopsticks? 'no, thanks' Once I started eating, things were quiet calm. Afterward having finished my meal, not so bad, seemingly no rush to clear the table or usher me towards the front to pay the bill. Was the food good? I have no idea, was too busy swatting away waiters. read more

This is simply a go-to spot in town! It's got a great atmosphere, chic decor for a Pho spot and MUCH cheaper than most of your new "hip" pho spots in central Houston. I am a big advocate of their spring rolls because they use their banh mi meat and it is just out of this world! I haven't found many spots that serve a more unique menu of spring rolls. Their pho is delicious, it's got plenty of flavor and a great feel good dish after a busy week. I highly recommend this place, the people here are so welcoming! read more

The vegan pho was really flavorful and felt like a hug in a bowl. Service was quick considering the fact I came before they were closing. I really like the painting on the walls. Sadly, we didn't dine in. We placed an order as soon we got back from the airport and we picked it up 20 mins before closing (lame I know but our go to was closed). The service was quick and friendly and the food was still hot! it was a bit tricky to find the building but that's because Google took us to the back of it? lol. the inside of the restaurant looked great they were cleaning and the ambiance was just... clean and tidy. Fun, chill and lively ambiance :) The Service was great, very fast and attentive. We never had to wonder when our server was coming back because staff is walking around constantly. The food was exactly what I wanted and needed. I am a pescatarian, so I got shrimp spring rolls and vegetarian pho. My boyfriend got the bánh mì and they packed it with a lot of meat which I appreciated because I used to eat that before I changed my diet and .. yea that was the biggest, best looking bánh mì I've ever seen. Friendly staff as soon as you walk in! I took a look at the menu and everything was decently price. My sandwich was only about $6. This restaurant is located in a plaza with a Kroger Grocery store. I have only been here a handful of times and can say that I've enjoyed my food every single time. I ordered the small chicken phó (mixed white/dark meat) and am always satisfied with the amount of chicken I get. My partner ordered the beef combo phó and we shared an order of the spring rolls and egg rolls. They also really enjoyed their phó too. Everything was tasty. The space has lots of places to sit and the atmosphere is really nice and bright. Their music is smooth jazz that wasn't too loud for the space which is great so people are able to have a conversation without the need to yell over the music and everyone else. The server was really attentive and came by on multiple occasions to check if we needed anything else. Something else I enjoyed was that the server helped put my leftover phó in the to-go container. This place definitely has the best phó I've had here in Houston. Their broth is flavorful and always tastes the same (consistency is great). I can't tell you how many other phó places I've frequented that never seemed to serve the same quality of broth. It was always like taking a gamble and hoping for the best. I've been to Pho Ben a few times and ordered take out plenty. Not my favorite place for pho or spring rolls, but I really enjoy their rice and vermicelli dishes. I typically go with the charbroiled pork and it hits the spot. They also make an amazing avacado smoothie here, super fresh and great flavor. read more

The service was really quick and the food was wonderful! The best way to know a bowl of pho is good is to taste it and know that you don't need to add hoisin sauce. Sriracha for the spicy eaters but really this pho was fantastic! My husband got one of the vermicelli bowls and he really enjoyed that too. The restaurant was clean and there was plenty of parking. One of the best pho spots in Houston! read more

Was visiting the Houston area and met up with a friend at Pho Ben. From the exterior the restaurant looks fairly old/small however, on the interior it was quite large and modern. Although, I did not take any pics there were quite a few decorative details throughout the space perfect for pics. The menu was vast, including a large vegetarian section. I got the tofu Bahn mi and veggie spring rolls. It was the first time I tried the bahn mi and was pleasantly surprised, it was quite flavorful. The bread was both crunchy and soft. The service was quick but the food came out hot and tasting fresh. My friend got the pho which she said she enjoyed. However, was not served a soup spoon. There were a couple pre placed on the table however, we were unsure if they were clean or pre-used so a bit hesitant to use them. But once we asked, the wait staff was more than happy to bring us a new set. read more

This was the best dining experience I've had in years. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by two different employees who immediately asked how many were in my party and got us seated right away. Before we could even sit down, our server was already at the table ready to take our drink order. Since we had looked at the menu ahead of time, we went ahead and placed our food order too, and within two minutes, our meals were already being delivered. Not only was the food delicious, but the prices were reasonable too. I was also impressed by the constant flow of food coming out of the kitchen and the way the staff checked on every table to make sure guests were taken care of. You can tell they really know what they're doing. Exceptional service and amazing food. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

This is the best spot for pho in the north side of the inner loop according to my brother. He always gets the Pho Tai Bo Vien or the Pho Dac Biet. I don't crave pho as much as he does so when I'm here I get their Bun Be Hue or vermicelli bowl and I always enjoy it! They get you in and out pretty quickly and seem to be always busy during lunch. The pho broth is good and they give you a decent amount and it's fairly priced for being in the heights area. It's a large strip mall so has ample parking. read more

3 stars for my experience. I've been to this location twice and I'll say that the food is fair. This is a good spot for a quick lunch or take out. It wasn't terrible but it needed some help in flavor. There were some inconsistencies on the meats, some were tender & some were chewy. The bun Bo hue was not bad, just wish it had more lemon grass flavor. The stinky paste they give you adds some more depth to the soup. Smells bad but tastes good. Overall, it was a fair experience. The portions are quite generous for a small. From what I got, they showed a lot of love on the protein. The service was quick & friendly. The decor is decent & it was spacious. Will I come back? Good pho, affordable prices, and great ambience! I loved their original location in north Houston so I had high expectations for this. We were seated immediately. Lots of space & airy ambience. Pho Ben has been my go-to spot for pho in the Heights. Located in the same plaza as Kroger, there are plenty of parking available which is hard to come by for restaurants in the Heights. The interior is modern and clean. While service may be minimal, it's compensated by the impressive speed. Food typically shows up no more than 5 minutes after ordering. Flavor is solid compared to other pho places in the loop (although there are definitely more authentic options in Chinatown/Vietnamese town). Price is reasonable given the portion and location. I recommend their pho and vermicelli. read more

I had been craving pho for a while, so decided to give Pho Ben a try, and we loved it. I got the pho with dark and white chicken meat, and my husband got the pho with eye of round steak and brisket. We both ordered the large size, which was enough to eat there and take home too. Service was fast, all servers were very attentive and never let our soda glasses go empty. The food was delicious. Parking was not a problem at all, but this was a Wednesday at 4pm. We will be back! read more

It was a chilly, rainy day in Houston--perfect Pho weather! This spot has a great ambiance with plenty of seating, making it a cozy choice. The service was fantastic; the staff was friendly, attentive, and kept our drinks refreshed throughout the meal. My boyfriend and I shared a pork Bahn Mi and each got a small bowl of beef Pho (#28 on the menu). The small bowls were surprisingly generous--I'm curious how large the large bowls must be! The Bahn Mi was packed with flavor, and the pork was perfectly balanced, not too fatty. For two bowls of soup and a sandwich, the total came to just under $30, which felt like a great deal for the quality and portion sizes. read more

Food is always great, fast, and consistent quality. However the service is just...odd? OVERLY attentive. I often order to-go and will probably only do so moving forward. I love Vietnamese, it's Houston, obviously there are a ton of places to choose from each with their own quirks but eating here in-person is just not an enjoyable (or maybe relaxing?) experience. We were seated immediately and then approached by a sever in less than 30 seconds. They seemed to expect us to know our full order like, right then! So we asked for a minute to look and ordered water. He then proceeded to just stand there. Waiting. So awkward. We figured out our ordered by second 45. He left, then immediately another server came to take our order...again? We explained we ordered already (which he literally watched happen). Then the other sever came back. And we had to explain our orders all over again to both servers. Based off their exchange and some questions there might have been a language barrier issue. Side note, this was a late Saturday afternoon lunch, it was not busy or a lunch-rush. Ok totally fine, we're looking forward to our meal and catching up. We were approached by multiple servers, helpers, etc. I am not exaggerating every 3-5 minutes throughout our entire meal, asking if we were ok, if we needed more water, if we ordered!?!??(again???). I'd take a sip of my drink and immediately one of the guys would come top it off . Food arrives, same thing. My friend and I could barely hold a conversation in between bites without being approached. It was wild. We finally politely said we were ok, happy with our food and will wave if we need help. It did not help . My friend has a low social battery and was so overwhelmed by the experience we cut our lunch short. Less importantly, I also asked for no peanuts (each of the seven times we ordered) and yet my vermicelli still ended up with them. Thankfully it's not an allergy, just a preference. And what I would do for an actual fork, knife and real napkin. Ya girl can make chopsticks work, but we probably used 72 1-ply napkins by the end of it all. read more

I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. The bread was perfectly toasted crispy on the outside but soft inside and held everything together without falling apart. The pork was flavorful and tender, with just the right amount of seasoning. I did take out tonight from Pho Ben! So excited to have a location of my favorite pho place in the heights! The pho is so delicious! Only thing that happened, they gave me the wrong spring roll which I couldn't eat bc I had pork in it :-( But the pho is so good they still are 5/5 stars! Next time I hope to dine in person. It's very cute on the inside as well! read more

This spot offeres great choices for Vietnamese foods. Together with delicious foods and an extremely friendly place to be with your friends or your families. The decoration is very rustic and modern which contradicts many traditional Vietnamese restaurants. Very thankful for them to open during the pandemic and snow storm to serve the locals. read more

The restaurant was quite full, but the wait time was surprisingly short. The waitress frequently checked if we were ready, and once we were, our appetizers and entrees arrived within a few minutes. The scenery was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. Will definitely be returning again! read more

I really really disappointment. The place is really nice clean but the food no taste pho not good springsrolls shrimp not good is not fresh food they not make it fresh I really don't like it. I only love Vietnamese coffee. It was really good. read more

Good foods, good service, and the price is affordable. I love their eggrolls, beef pho, and bun bo hoe. I usually come there at least 2 times/ week, and maybe 3-4 times from now on bcz of my pho craving in this cool weather. read more
