I dined in last night for dinner to past time while waiting on a friend. I walked in and I was greeted immediately by a gentleman by the counter. He approached me with a menu and told me to pick any seat. I chose to sit further back away from the door and against the wall. First impressions were all postive. The restaurant itself was clean and spacious and I loved their bamboo menu cover! I was craving soup and of course my fix for a bite of general's chicken. I ordered a cup of wonton soup and of course general's chicken. Everything was served hot and tasted delicious, but my only wish my generals chicken was less orange/sweet. I would pass on their fried rice next time. Service was very attentive from this team working last night. I would definitely return in the future when I'm in Gardnerville. read more

Decided to come try Pho Chopstix for lunch. I ordered the fried calamari on the appetizer list and WOW. As soon as it was brought to the table I could smell the seasonings from the sautéed veggies. This was a delicious dish, and their chili oil complimented all the flavors so well. The service was excellent. Can't wait to come back! read more

We've been coming here for dinner quite often the past few weeks and the food has been excellent! We usually have one of the Bun dishes, however yesterday I had the Rare Steak Pho and it was right there with the best of them. We went there and had dinner on Monday the 9th of February. There was a note on the door that said they were closing to do some cleaning. The three of us all got sick that night. We ordered fried calamari and it looked delicious but calamari was overcooked and rubbery. Egg roll was crispy and delicious. Pho and vermicelli noodles were overcooked and little mushy. This place has gone down hill fast their prices have gone up and they skip out on portions then they charge your card for a tip when you don't leave them one, I typically leave them great tips but I wanted to see if they would still charge my card and they did!!! The service was horrible. Didn't check back. Had to get up to ask for a knife, waiter almost refused to take my guests plate with a scowle. The food was OK. Although the fried rice was horrible. Good place for soggy noodle and a fight. This place made us feel aweful. We drive into town from mono lake one of those best day ever days. We've eaten here because we frequent the town during ski season. We order food we get 2 of three dishes and the guy does not come back after he drops off food. I get up to ask about my son's food also to let him know my noodles are soggy. He starts arguing with me shouting like he wants a fight. I walk away get my phone and translate the noodles are soggy now he's made starts to say his friends in booth have a same thing just before we got there. (Guess we know where the soggy noodles are came from). This guy was an ass and I fell into his bullshit. Sorry for that. This was not made right. Food is okay. Service and attention to detail with your order...? Meh. I am not wasting too much time with this place after past and present food and order failures. Should you actually get the right thing, it's a decent taste, for a small town, but they would be out of business quickly in a larger city with some competition. The main problem I see is the younger generation taking over the restaurant operations. I don't think it's their dream to run a restaurant and it feels that way when you order and when they deliver the wrong thing and you have to talk through it. Personally, I am done with this place. There are plenty of Vietnamese places just up the street in Lake Tahoe, Carson City or Reno that I would much rather give my business to that get the order right and genuinely make a good dish. read more

Ordered take out for the first time and also first time having food from there. Ordered the pho with fillet mignon, orange chicken with fried rice. Everything with well packaged, hot and ready when we arrived. The orange chicken was okay, nothing wowie, a little more breaded than use to. The fried rice was good but very different from other fried rices we have had. The pho beef broth flavorful and very hot. When we went to put the ingredients into the broth was very surprised to have the meat raw. Clearly the broth was hot so it would cook in it. We still transferred the broth into a pot, added the meat. Once it boiled, turned off. Meat was tender and good. Would have like to have known about the meat being raw. Possibly it is written somewhere and missed it. If taking to the office or outdoor spot verses home the outcome would not have been as good for us. For our taste we like more bean sprouts, basil and cilantro. Overall the pho was tasty, not the best that we have had but definitely tasty. read more

I ordered 3 entrees to go as my regular restaurant was closed on Mondays. First thing I noticed was all the stickers over the old prices. I was sticker shocked on their new prices. My go-to places chicken chow main is half the cost of this place! Half! This was not better at all. Liked the others better. My husband does like this places Kung Pow Chicken a little better but not sure for $4 more if he would feel the same. I also ordered the Sweet and Sour chicken which again was roughly $4 more than the other place and I was a bit disappointed with the flavor. I will say that when I have gone in for their soup bowls they have been very good but I didn't order it this time since this was a to-go order so not sure how much those prices were raised to. Sorry but this place entrees are a bit over priced. If the food had been out of this world maybe I would have ranked it higher. read more

My family and I come from San Francisco and took a small trip down here, and within short amount of days we were already missing asian food, specifically Pho. We came across this place on Yelp and it was so worth it. Off the bat, there is a lot of parking around. It is found inside the plaza which was not busy and pretty quiet. We came at an hour where there was literally barely anyone, I believe this place is more known to be a hit at night. The decor in this restaurant is very nice and amusing. It almost felt like the dine-in scene with the family in Freaky Friday with Lindsey Lohan. The food was so clean and flavorful with great portion!!! I honestly enjoyed my Pho so darn much. You can tell it wasn't pre-prepared as the noodles were not sticking to each other and the meat was still so tender and soft. I ordered a Thai Iced Tea and it was P E R F E C T. I truly appreciated how creamy and perfectly sweet it was. A lot of restaurants that carry thai tea are so watered out and skimp on the heavy cream. If I ever come back to Tahoe/Reno for a trip, I would hit this place up again. read more

Coming from the Bay Area i am definitely spoiled if it comes to pho. This just wasn't good. The broth was watery and the meat tough. Noodles didn't taste good either. And not to forget that crap Rangoon we're so overfilled with cream cheese that they were close to inedible. And to top it off they charge a "convince fee" if you pay with credit card. So instead of disregarding negative reviews on this place because my wife wanted pho I should have listened and gone to a different place. read more

I ordered 2 two go orders, curry chicken and sweet and sour pork last night. I only eat the meat from the sweet and sour pork. Both entrees didnt have alot of meat in them. After eating the sweet and sour pork i had over half of just vegtables left. I felt cheated by not getting more meat instead of vegtables in both entrees. Normally i never complain but went into the restaurant during lunch time. I was greeted by a younger chubby mexican guy. He denied that my food had more vegtables than meat told me to have a nice day. Didnt want to hear from a longterm customer or do anything to make it right. I told him he shouldnt cheat to go orders and besides the meat issue. There fried rice is just white rice with yellow coloring. No egg or other ingredients added to it. I told them i will never eat here again and will no longer refer people to this place. last nights food was just ok, the quality and portions are not good anymore. Really happy we have this restaurant around. I love the flavor of lemongrass and if you do too, you must try the lemongrass tofu. It's so good! I also like the pho (i get the #21- rare steak). They do have more traditional pho that includes all the fixins you'd expect but i just don't care for those extras. Update ::: have tried other menu items here and definitely 5 stars. My husband loves the general chicken and I love the house chow fun. Also you can make any entree a meal for a few dollars extra which includes soup, 3 appetizers (1 coconut shrimp, 1 crab Rangoon, and 1 egg roll) and also steamed or fried rice. They also have great Thai tea! I think their service is exceptional. Gem! Parking- shopping mall, we went on a Sat and had no issues. Menu - A Vietnamese place but featured non Viet foods including Hor Fun which they called Chow Fun. Lots of choices. Value - 2 adults out the door with lunch and full appetizer plate for $31. Service- no issues on ordering quickly or getting water refills or our check. There is no pressure here BUT the staff barely speak English so if you have questions or want to alter a dish you might have to ask more than one person. Food - 1 point off for the sampler platter. The crab rangoon was great but nothing else besides the ribs were particularly tasty. Food - Hubby had the Bahi Mai on chickem which was good and I had the house special Chow Fun. Sinful in calories but sp authethenic to what I used to eat in Sinagpore! Ambience- clean, decorated but not what I'd consider good for a romantic date. Pho Chopstix Gardnerville. The rating is not for the food nor the prices, but for the people who run the place...they are RUDE!!! Menu prices very good and my wife and I have eaten here a couple of times with no problems. Last visit I was scolded for taking pictures of the menu, food, etc., to do this review. I was actually chased outside and scolded again for taking a picture of the sign. Never again. I do recommend if you do go to try the sizzling beef steak...it is very good. We appreciate that there is a Vietnamese restaurant in the local area, but the food is just okay. My husband enjoys their food more than I do, so he comes more often. Every time I come, I am just not impressed. The pho broth doesn't taste very authentic or high quality, the fried rice is very greasy, and the shrimp vermicelli dish leaves something to be desired. We will keep coming back as its the only Vietnamese place nearby, but with the high prices they now have, we will come less often. read more

They were pretty busy with a steady flow of customers. Got their lemongrass shrimp which has a good kick. My friends got the bbq ribs and beef pho which all had great flavor. Did you miss me? I'm back. Trying new things at a familiar place. The #80 is simply a Beef Chow Mein that is simply divine. No too much or too little. A wonderful mix of vegetables and lean beef that melts in your mouth. I prefer my carrots cooked through on this dish, but, that wouldn't be authentic Vietnamese. I also need to ask the mixture of their hot tea. Steeped properly (and it always is) I drink two pots, slowly. Tonight the wait staff was very fast and timely. 5 refills on the water glass before each reached half full. It was only us and two other tables with patrons inside. So pretty empty. The greeter had no personality as you felt the vibe they didnt want to work. Then we must've waited 10 minutes for a waiter to come ask us for drinks. Then, 30 minutes to come and take our order! We were getting ready just to walk out of this place, when the waiter returned to take our order. It took a long time to get our food as well. Not saying much but the best pho that I've had in the seven noodle shops I have been to in Nevada. Unlike others' pho, Pho Chopstix's soup was just all around good.
