This is one of my favorite Vietnamese spots in the Triad. The staff is always so sweet and accommodating, which makes every visit feel easy and welcoming. The ambience is laid back with soft lighting, and depending on what time you arrive, you're either seated right away or there's usually only about a 10-15 minute wait, which is never too bad. The tables are always clean and set with fresh chili oil (super fresh and spicy), hoisin sauce, sriracha, and soy sauce. I ordered the pad Thai noodles with chicken, and it was so delicious. Pho Hien Vuong had some of the best pho I've eaten, at by far the cheapest price point. Though I'm not truly a vegetarian, I am fairly "meat-averse" at times, and if I eat meat or meat products, I prefer for it to not taste "too meaty." Not really a fair standard, I know, but it's what I prefer. So, for something like pho, with such a rich, meaty broth, and often chock full of meat, I struggle to enjoy it at times, despite my love of spicy, savory foods. This is all to say, I was thrilled to find that Pho Hien Vuong not only has a vegetable option (which most places do), but several combinations of just vegetables or with tofu, in either beef broth or a vegetable broth. I don't see that too often. I went the truly vegetarian route, with tofu and their made-in-house vegetable broth. The broth, despite its distinct lack of meat, was rich, flavorful, and deep. There were an abundance of toppings, and in addition to the included tofu and vegetables, I added jalapeño, bean sprouts, basil, lime, chili crisp, and sriracha. It was a fantastic meal, and while I could not come close to finishing the absolutely massive serving, I enjoyed every bite I did eat. Our server was quick and attentive, despite the restaurant being jam packed with a line out the door (a testament to its popularity, and by extension, its quality and value!). Tables were large enough to spread out on, everything was clean, and the volume level wasn't too bad even with that many people. I see many more visits to Pho Hien Vuong in my future. read more

This was my first experience here and omg i will be back. I had the seafood pho and a fresh spring roll . The pho was literally a warm hug in a bowl, like if I were sick I'd want a giant bowl od this. My only complaint was that due to how hot the broth was it continued to cook the squid which unfortunately made it very chewy. Other than that the remainder of the seafood was great. Love Pho Hien Vuong! Great spot for a quick work lunch. I have not been out here in quite a while and was tickled to see that they finally paved their back parking lot. Parking used to be quite a challenge. They stay busy during lunch but we've never had an issue getting in and out in less than a hour. They have a nice selection of daily lunch specials. My usuals are the beef with onions and green beans or the thin rice noodles with fried tofu. I also love the chicken pho but usually wait until cooler weather settles in to order that tasty vat of delicious soup. Another favorite among my friends is the shrimp pad Thai. Specials come with a fried spring roll and tangy dipping sauce (not served with the pho or veggie street noodles). The spring roll filling has a different filler than what you might expect from your usual roll. It is not my favorite in town but that has never stopped me from eating hundreds of them over the years. Service is always fast and friendly. Make sure to grab yourself a punch card so you can earn a free entree. It is never too loud in the dining room no matter how busy so you are able to carry on a conversation without yelling. We chose this one because we don't have good access to Asian cuisine where we live in Illinois. I have always said that you can tell the quality of a specific category of food by seeing the people of its origin dining there. There were people from all walks of life the night we visited. I suspect that is always the case. We had wait of about 30 minutes on a Saturday night, another good sign. The restaurant is in a semi industrial area. The parking is just okay, we got lucky. From the outside it looks no better than any other strip mall type place, do not be put off by that. The interior is fine, but also nothing special, it has the same "style" of many other Asian restaurants. The furnishings are worn, but solid, we sat in a booth. I had pork fried rice, I had been craving good fried rice for months. The taste was spot on, the rice was perfect texture and moisture level. The pork was exceptionally well seasoned, and that perfect amount of tooth feel that I prefer. I like it not quite crispy, and almost as if it is was cooked the day before and reheated. My wife had been craving something with fish sauce (pretty specific), but it is a staple from her childhood. What we have available around us is the commercial americanized version. So she got a Vietnamese street noodle dish. She was very happy with it. The portions are pretty large, she couldn't finish. I didn't finish my fried rice either. My son got his favorite (he has been here several times) Beef Pho. It looked and smelled great and he smashed it all. He and I both started with a fresh spring roll, big fresh shrimp and a great dipping sauce. The prices are very reasonable and our service was effective, even though everyone was hustling about trying to turn the tables over and manage the crowd. It's not often that I have a weekday off while my wife is working, but when I do, I always offer to take her out to lunch. She's always excited when I show up at her office--and this time was no different. That morning, she took a few minutes to look up lunch spots near her office and read through some reviews. I picked her up around noon, and though the parking lot was packed, we managed to find a spot. Inside, there was a line of people waiting to pay--always a good sign. From there, we could see more and more people arriving, confirming what we already suspected: this place is popular for a reason. The menu is extensive. My wife ordered the Special Beef and Seafood Pho--steak, meatballs, shrimp, scallops, onions, and beef broth--minus the calamari. I went with the Special Beef Pho, which includes steak, meatballs, onions, and broth. We enjoyed catching up and chatting about weekend plans while we waited. In all my 21 years I have never had pho. It's not because I don't want to try new foods, but more that I am scared I will somehow miss it up because of a mistake I made, or I'm just not eating it properly. But somehow one of my friends convinced me to come and try it with her, and I do not regret it one bit! When we walked in, the restaurant was pretty packed, however we were taken to a table very quickly. Since it was just two of us they gave us the smaller booths which was fine by us there was still plenty of room. As I looked around I saw there were a lot of servers coming in and out of the kitchen getting their customers their dishes which to me was a good sign of fast service. Once it was time to see what I wanted to order I was stunned to see that there was more than just pho on the menu. Although I wish I could remember what all the other dishes were I hope whoever is reading this just knows that there is a variety of appetizers and dishes. Since my friend had been there before she was a great help at telling about the different pho's she has tried. Our server was also helpful and answered any questions that I had. I ordered the beef pho, which just comes with thin beef and noodles. Once we ordered, the server went to go put in our orders and then came back with the fresh toppings and sauces for our pho. I was very pleased with the portions they gave us for the toppings. I would say it took 10 minutes or less for the food to come out. The Pho itself also came in these huge bowls so that was also a huge plus for me. Once I put all my toppings in and took my first taste it was delicious and I have never had anything like it before! Despite the lack of tripe (or the option to add it), we both were satisfied with our phos. For our appetizers. we ordered 2x Summer Rolls for $3 each, and since my wife wanted pork on them, we had to pay $1 extra each to get them added. Still my absolute top spot for Vietnamese, or really the best all around place to get most any cuisine of the Asian variety. They do it all right here. Flavor is on point, price is right, service is efficient, and the place is clean. They continue to set the standard for the area. The Pho is what brings all the people here, and really, you'll have a hard time finding better. It's a giant bowl as well, I have seen that you can upgrade to a "really big" bowl of Pho, and I would love to see what that looks like, or to see anyone finish it. Yes yes a thousand times yes. This is one of those places where my favorite dish (Tofu Green Beans in Garlic Sauce) is *so* good that I've rarely strayed to other items on the menu. However, when I have, it's always been the absolute heat (especially if you get it Vietnamese or Thai Hot, you brave foodie, you). Indulge yourself in a thousand perfect flavors in a bustling dining area where everyone is enjoying everything in front of them. It's paired with a small bucket of delicious peanut sauce that was thick almost like actual peanut butter. The fried one had chicken and was tasty as well. For my entree, local legend Erik S recommended the Special Beef and Seafood pho which is loaded with rare steak, meatballs, shrimp, scallops, calamari, onions and served in a beef broth with all the fixins on the side. This soup was so good and I was wishing I could have taken leftovers with me because there was no way I could finish it in one sitting.
