Hands down the best food in Greensboro and I don't say that lightly. I've been here on several different occasions and tried several different dishes and one thing is consistent-the food is amazing. From the appetizers to the pho to the seafood to the pork, everything is amazing. The food is fresh, well seasoned, and always arrives piping hot. They have some traditional dishes, but if you can be a little adventures, you will not be disappointed. Another thing that sticks out is the homemade sauces. It's so fresh and makes an entire difference when adding it to your entrée. The staff is always very kind, attentive, and helpful with offering suggestions. The ambience is very clean and relaxed. I believe they have a bar area, but I've never seen a cocktail menu or have ordered drinks, I'm obsessed with the food. They do close in between lunch and dinner so double check the hours before you go. read more

I have been dining here for decades and have always enjoyed their food. Per my usual I got the vermicelli with lemongrass, curry, and shrimp over lettuce. It was as delicious as it has always been. They are consistent with their food and their customer service. My only issue is over the years and especially now it has gotten a tad pricey for lunch, especially. An entrée water and tip for $22. Thank goodness the quality has remained high and it is quite delicious. I highly recommend. read more

We had never sat in that part of the restaurant it accommodate us no problem. I really enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant! The food was wonderful as always! This is a long time favorite place for my parents as it serves authentic Vietnamese food. It never disappoints choosing to go here when you are craving Vietnamese food. The servers are kind and prompt, the only concern for places like this would be language barriers but they have it pretty well managed that it doesn't cause a problem. I recently revisited Saigon after way too long of an absence. That won't happen again! After trying several other Vietnamese restaurants in the area, I returned for a fantastic lunch. Perhaps I didn't appreciate Saigon years ago, but after trying a number of other places, Saigon is my favorite hands down! Our group had a wide array of items. Spring rolls were great as were the egg rolls. The bowls of soup are massive so come hungry or be prepared to take your next meal home. Everything we tried was excellent, packed with flavor. I've tried so many different things here that you can't really go wrong. This is the bun Bo hue which was very flavorful. The grilled chicken skewers were amazing with the fish sauce. My favorite Vietnamese spot in Greensboro. I have been coming here for a very long time and it's always been good everytime. Food- you can never go wrong with what to order from here. There's plenty of options to choose from. Ambiance- very busy on Sunday afternoon because you get the church crowd. A good amount of seating and usually never have to wait that long. Service- not the greatest. They only like their regulars. Food comes out pretty quick. I feel like portion maybe a little small for the price. They have their own parking but it can be hard to find one during busy times. The only reason I didn't give it a five start is because of the service but other than that, I would highly recommend. Where there is one there are more, kinda like the police on the highway hiding. Now I know this place has been there for over 20 years, but when do the exterminators visit? I wondered when this would happen? I wondered when I would walk into a restaurant as a Yelp reviewer and have to say the dreaded words, "This place has really gone downhill!" Well my friends, it happened last week when I took my friend Michael who was visiting me from California to what I thought was one of the finest Asian restaurants in Greensboro.... Saigon Here's what I remember pre-covid. A bustling restaurant especially during lunch time. Quite often I would have to wait in the parking lot for a spot to open up. And then you walked inside and ran into everybody you knew in Greensboro all there for that same delicious meal. Their hot soups and all their dishes were just out of this world. Even as you walked inside the restaurant you were blown away by all the delicious and enticing smells. The only reason I did not go there more often was because it was always so crowded that it was difficult to find a spot and difficult to get a table Well, let's jump ahead to last week in November 2021. We pulled up to the restaurant around 12:30 and I was surprised how empty the parking lot was. The outside looked real run down and dirty, almost seedy. When we walked inside, the place looked really dingy and barren. Not many people at tables and nobody seemed particularly thrilled to greet us or show us to our seats. We were shuffled around between a few waiters and waitresses until finally we landed with this young man who took our order. He rarely checked in with us and he put us in a back room where we were the only ones in the room. The room was adorned with old, nasty, dirty curtains, all closed to block out the sunlight. I felt like I was in a dungeon. Normally I would have loved the privacy but it all seem kind of weird especially in retrospect to what it used to be. We both had some basic lunch dish with chicken and rice and vegetables. Not bad, not good just mediocre like the rest of the place. I had bragged to Michael how special this place was, and it was so disappointing to see how it had changed. I don't know if it's because of new owners or a new chef or just one of the casualties of covid, but I will not be back!!! It breaks my heart to see this happen to a restaurant that was so successful and one of the pioneers of popular Asian restaurants in Greensboro other than Chinese food. Whoever owns the restaurant now needs to make a big decision if they are going to put some money into sprucing that place up , hiring a new chef and bringing it back to life. If not, I think it's time to shut the doors and leave while we all still remember that incredible restaurant years ago on High Point Road called Saigon that was a absolutely go to if you wanted an exceptional Asian food experience! I was in town for basketball and took my friend to eat there when she arrived. So I ate there twice in 3 days. I had the summer seafood the 1st day and the shrimp hot pot the 2nd time. I used to frequent here often on my lunch hour when I worked nearby as their lunch specials are such a deal. So, check that out if ya can. This time we ordered some entrees to-go for dinner. We started with an appetizer of the Fresh spring rolls (rice paper filled with vermicelli, shrimp, pork, cilantro, and basil with peanut dipping sauce). You could tell these were hand rolled and I like that I could see nice sized pieces of shrimp and pork as well as the other ingredients inside. Rolls a little smaller than other places, but comparable and their peanut sauce was yummy. For my entrée I got the Vermicelli with lemongrass and curry sauce (sauteed peanuts, beansprouts, onions, yellow curry, lemongrass over greens with vermicelli and choice of meat). I got shrimp as my meat and ordered it medium spicy. You could definitely taste the heat at medium, which I liked but glad I didn't go hotter. Was pleased that the noodles were not all stuck together, which had happened some getting noodles to-go. The lemongrass and curry sauce was great too. It also included a little salad with a sweet sauce on the side. I ate some separate and mixed some in with the dish for some texture and extra vegetables. My friend ordered the Rice and Clay Pot with shrimp (mushrooms, bell peppers, onions, and scallions over rice with choice of meat). This dish has great color as it includes a variety of vegetables. She felt it had more rice than was needed, but liked the dish. My husband got the Stir-fried rice noodles special (flat noodles, peanuts, onions, scallions, beansprouts stir fried with shrimp, beef, pork, and chicken). Visually it wasn't very appealing as it was just a lot of brown, but the taste was good. Portion size was absolutely enough for a second meal. read more

Love, love, love this place. Once again we had a delicious and fresh meal at Saigon. As an appetizer, we ordered the spring rolls which come with 2 large shrimp in each one. The peanut sauce that comes with them is so delicious that I could spoon it in my mouth like a bowl of soup. We both ordered the tofu with mixed vegetables in a brown sauce. Out comes a huge plate of colorful vegetables with tofu and a bowl of white rice on the side.The portion was huge. The dish is chock full of broccoli, bok choy, mushrooms, red peppers, pea pods and onions. We ate everything! I have been here before and have ordered the curries, vermicelli and so much more. This was my first visit. Based off of reviews and a friend's recommendation, I was pretty excited to try them out. I ordered the lunch special Vermicelli Lemongrass and Curry with Wonton Soup and my partner ordered the fried spring rolls and Bun Bo Hue. The first complaint and probably the most apparent was the service. We were the first of four tables in the back/side section to come in. We noticed the third table that came in got direct service and they took their order, apps came out, entrees came out....all before the first (us) or second table even got spoken to (table two noticed this as well and you can see the dissatisfaction with them as well). This consistently played out as the lunch went on. Table two ordered last but got their apps next. We finally got our entree but... The waitress brought out my soup which was very flavorful and I was impressed. She then came back a while later with the Bun Bo Hue. We asked about the fried spring rolls (apps we originally ordered) and she apologized and came came back a few minutes later with the wrong order....fresh springs rolls, which had shrimp (my partner does not eat). I ended up just eating them and they were fine, but just not what we ordered and we both already aggravated as we were needing to get back to work. My entree wasn't spectacular - lacked flavor and certainly lacked spice which is very surprising for a dish with curry. I do not have a high tolerance for spice but even for me there was nothing there. The Bun Bo Hue had no spice at all and my partner disliked altogether it was pointed out it lacked flavor and was watered down. I had to ask for the bill twice and ended up walking up to the front and pay so we could leave and get back to work. Service was a mess as our waitress covered the three tables, while one waiter only saw one table...all in the same section. I want to give this restaurant one more try in hopes that it was an off experience. My partner immediately asked two Vietnamese friends what they thought of Saigon and neither were positive. Overall my food was just OK, but just not what the menu stated with the spice level at all. I will also go when there is no time constraint and I hope for a better experience next time. *another thing we noticed were the tables that just did not get bussed the entirety of our lunch. Not gonna lie that I went into this with high expectations, as Asian cuisine is traditionally my favorite. To be honest, I was a little let down. We ordered the combinations platter app, Thai hot pot, and a combination fried rice. The appetizer had plenty of a variety and I throughly enjoyed the crispy spring rolls. The hotpot was a bit underwhelming for my taste. The broth was delicious and rich, however, there was way more fish than meat and I was disappointed. We had to order an extra side of beef for the table. The star of the show was without a doubt the fried rice. I would return just for that. I'm hesitant to ever eat there again however because the service was horrendous. As in there was next to no service at all. We had to get out of our seats for menus and to order a drink. We had to get up to order the side of beef as well as when we needed our check. I don't know about you but I don't wanna have to chase down my waiter. And in turn be greeted with disinterest. Came here for my birthday with my kids and family friend. The place has gone downhill since precovid. I remember it was clean, well decorated and had decent service. On the upside the food is still good!! When I walked in the dinning room was empty, disheveled and not as nice as I remember it. The server didn't greet me and seemed bothered when I asked where to sit. It took about 20 min or so to get a drink order. The food came out expeditiously after we ordered but he seemed annoyed when I asked about things on the menu, didn't check on drinks or us till we're were done eating. and made the whole experience very underwhelming.
