Overall, I had a decent experience Pho Hiep Hoa. During my visit, there was a minor technological issue in that the the restaurant could not accept credit/debit cards, and the only options for payment were either cash or Venmo. The waiter explained the situation to customers before seating so at least we had a heads up. I went with an order of a big bowl of pho and fried wontons, and both dishes were delicious. I have to admit that the broth was not as flavorful as other places that I have visited, but it was adequate. I thought the menu prices (about $15 for a large bowl of pho) were pretty in line with other similar restaurants in the area. The ambiance is pretty much what one would expect - little to no frills, which is fine for me. Parking was decent, but I can imagine that it can get packed since the restaurant shares parking lot with other restaurants. While this not the fault of the restaurant, it can be a bit of a pain getting in (if you are turning left into the parking lot) and out of the parking lot from the main street. read more

Still our favorite pho restaurant but had a bad experience Thursday evening. We got there about 7:30 and had our normal meals. Very good. We finished about 8:45 and wanted dessert. The waiter was mopping the floor and taking our plates away as soon as we finished. We wanted a couple of smoothies, mine with Bobo. He indicated it would take about 15 minutes. Okay, that will put him right up to closing time but we could take them with us. However, he came back and asked if I could have mine without the Bobo. He gave us our check and pushed us to pay up. It was obvious he wanted us out of there so he could go home. We try to get out before a restaurant closes, and we should have had plenty of time. But service was slow, so it took longer. and then the waiter pushed us to get out. Not sure that we're going to go back. We've never been treated this poorly in any other restaurant. Loved this place for delicious pho on a winter night with friends! I had P12, the Tai Chin Pho (with steak & brisket), and it was delicious. Was waiting for friends that were going to an event we were going to nearby, and I didn't end up eating here. So, I'm going to give 2-stars just based on the experience; it wouldn't be fair to give them 1-star because I didn't have the food. My friends wanted to go to this Pho restaurant on that humid 97 F day since it was next door to an event we were going to. I was early waiting for them there. The A/C isn't even on. Although pho relatively tastes the same at most places, I like to think that every pho place has their own "secret ingredient" to make it their own. For some reason, the pho here tastes like the most generic pho I have ever had. It's not bad but it's not special or exceptionally good. It just takes like how you would expect pho to taste like and there's nothing wrong with that. It's just something to hold you over if you're craving pho and want something that's nearby. Honestly, if I didn't live 5 minutes away from here, don't think I would visit as frequently as I do now but glad there's an option when I need something warm and soupy. I always opt to get the pho (small) with brisket and flank in it. Nothing special. It always hits spot but sometimes I'm left feeling a little hungry afterwards which is rare for me because I don't have an overly large appetite these days. As for appetizers, I've tried a few like the papaya salad and the beef wraps and both was crazy salty. Maybe it's supposed to be like that, but not my cup of tea and will strictly be sticking to pho. The Thai iced tea was also sickeningly sweet, basically orange syrup with a hint of tea and not worth it. Service is as expected at any pho place. You won't get royal treatment here. You get water, your pho, you pay and you leave. Battabingbattaboom. Overall, prices are fair, pho itself is decent. This restaurant gets packed around lunch time. I recommend you carpool with your coworkers or go during off-peak hours because parking is rough. Hoa Binh is one of the most consistent pho places in Rockville. The broth tastes pretty authentic. Some days the spices are stronger than others and some days the broth taste more meaty than others but it is always consistent. Their fried spring rolls are extremely crispy and have a good filling to shell ratio. My coworkers and I probably come here about once a week when it gets colder out. read more

For years now, anytime I'm in this part of MoCo and want pho I come here. Per this February 2022 #covid19 review, indoor dining was fully on (not to a packed restaurant tho), but there's a 1 gallon of hand sanitizer and lettering asking for its use greeting you at the entrance. The best part of any soup? The broth. Such good (beef) broth it's that right balanced between being slightly umami and maintaining that warm and comforting feeling. Noodles are stacked up well, and they're vegetarian pho is by far and away the best sincere attempt at catering to vegetarians I've seen. I also distinctly remember liking their cuts of meat in the soup too - the eye-round and brisket being my personal favorites. Their spring rolls hold up well too, but tonight's review was based on the vegetarian pho w/ beef broth. They've updated the interior, clean and warm in that sanitized easy-to-wipe-down sorta way. There's a TV (of course this is America), but it isn't intrusive. Good for kids and groups! And also their takeout game fire! Ready in 10 (and they mean it), beautifully prepared for the journey home - and the staff know you're coming make it a treat to pop in and out. Was recommended this place from a Vietnamese coworker. We went on a Sunday afternoon. The owner served us and was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere feels authentic Vietnamese. I got the bún bò huê noddle soup. It had thicker noodles than a usual pho I usually get. The broth was super tasty and there was a good noodle to meat ratio. I don't really have anything to complain about. You can get a good, hearty bowl of pho for a reasonable price and that's all I really expect. Service is quick and polite. Parking is a little tight but we were able to get a spot right in front. The interior is unassuming and there is one table outside. My boyfriend got a chicken pho (which I personally don't think is TECHNICALLY pho) but he said it was good. I ordered a more traditional beef pho with meatballs and tripe. 3/30/19 I was introduced to this place by my wife and her sister. This place is located at: 11782 Parklawn Dr, Rockville, MD 20852 This place is pretty spacious from what I saw. We were greeted and seated promptly. The smoothie I ordered was peach flavored without milk in it. I prefer yogurt in my smoothies instead of milk. I can't remember the name of what I got..okay it was the Bun Cha Gio Spring Rolls with Vermicelli. Oh, I added a side of sliced beef to the order. I should added grill onions too, but I didn't think of it. The food was delicious and so was the smoothie. My wife and sister in law had their smoothies after their meal, but I wanted mine with my meal. I like washing my hands before I eat, so this have me the opportunity to check out the men's bathroom. I saw that the bathrooms are divided by sex. The men's bath room has two sections. The first is the sink, mirror and urinal. The second is the royal throne which is more spacious. I've always gotten #11 or #12 - not very adventurous with the protein in my pho - and I always request extra basil leaves. The broth they make is so rich, almost velvety, very aromatic and filling. I always leave full, satisfied and sad that I didn't order a 2nd bowl. The one big area that's lacking is cleanliness and tidiness. Sticky tables, sticky floors with debris in the corners, leftover food on the chairs, supplies and boxes piled up around the cashier station and don't even get me going about the bathroom. Suffice it to say that you should go to the bathroom before visiting this place. Even washing my hands is an unpleasant experience. THAI TEA: UH...sugar water with orange dye? They put too much sugar/syrup and not enough tea. It was not pleasant to drink. SERVICE: Their service sort of made up for the lack of flavor in the pho. It was definitely sweeter than I'm used to. I tried to mask the sweetness with some heat from the Sriracha, but still no luck. The sprouts to put in your pho could have been fresher too. The imperial rolls (aka summer rolls) weren't bad. Nothing spectacular, though. The peanut sauce tasted a bit off, so I just dipped my roll in the hot sauce...not the same as eating your roll with peanut sauce, but it worked. Service was eh. There was minimal communication with the waiter. After he took our order, he never checked back on us. Had to flag him down for more water. The restaurant wasn't crowded either. Just a couple other tables eating dinner. Parking is plentiful. It's kind of hard to see this restaurant from Parklawn. It's located just Mega Supermarket. If you pass Carpet King, you've gone too far. Maybe that's a good thing though because you should probably look for another pho place to satisfy your craving. read more

I have been addicted to Vietnamese Food ever since first trying it when I lived in NOVA and went to the no longer extant Pho Ha in Eden Shopping Center. I had not been here for awhile and forgot who good this place is. The Vietnamese Coffee is pre mixed which is actually nice... I don't have to wait my whole meal for it to drip. The Cho Gia crrspy roll appetizer was crisp and delicious. The Pho (beef) was also delicious with a generous portion. I am very happy this restaurant survived the pandemic. One of my favorite places to eat dinner with my family. Not luxuary place, but local asian diner. People usually eat Phos. Several kinds of Pho here. You can choose small and regular size. For me, small is enough. We also love to eat Vietnamese style BBQ pork or chicken. Nice taste, good portion, and reasonable price. For kids, there is also kids BBQ menu. Good deal. Fried spring rolls and raw spring rolls are also delicious. We always order these as appetizers. Vietnam style pudding and desert sticky rice with coconut sauce are also delicious!! I just discovered this place, it's actually across from my work. I called and placed my order To Go. They quoted me five minutes, once I arrived there was ample parking. This was around lunch time on a Tuesday. There were a handful of diners. The restaurant was a little dark, not much lighting but my food was ready. I asked what drinks they had and they mentioned they had smoothies with Bobba. Excited to hear this I ordered a Taro Bobba smoothie. The pho I ordered was pretty delicious. I enjoyed that they had a bowl container and then a separate container for the broth. I just poured my broth right into the soup bowl container let it sit for a second then added my toppings. Pho was very filling- I even ordered the small. The Bobba tea was almost perfect. The bubbles were a bit tough (to chew). When I got closer to finishing it.. it definitely tasted a bit sweeter- like a sugar rush. Overall pretty impressed. read more

It actually pains me to write this review because it was once my favorite pho restaurant in the entire DC area. Note that this review is for food only, as the workers here are very nice. A good pho broth should have depth of flavor and be aromatic enough that you can smell the star anise. The last few times that I've been here, the broth has been very bland and not aromatic at all. We were here couple of weeks ago. It was a Friday at around noon and we were the only ones there. This place used to be packed at this time of day. I'm hoping that this honest review will wake up the owners and that they'll from time to time taste their product before serving it to customers. You cannot serve this type of food to people and expect to be successful in the long run. I would love to come back and revisit this place, but only if the food quality is fixed. read more
