On a cold, rainy afternoon, we decided to warm ourselves with a warm bowl of pho. But, the story here is not just the pho, but some of the other delicious dishes we tried. For appetizers, we started off with spring rolls. They were freshly made and had a large portion of shrimp. The peanut dipping sauce, has siracha already added to it. But, our wonderful waiter brought me some sauce, without the siracha. It was rich and creamy. Then, we had a quail appetizer. It was roasted quail in a tasty sauce. The quail was cooked perfectly, fall off the bone, and so good, you want to savor the experience. Next, we both had pho. A rich, hearty broth filled with shrimp in my case and tender beef in my dining partners. It was huge and there was plenty to take home. We also ordered Hunan Chicken. I loved the rice. I have no idea how they cooked it or what spices the put in it, but it was wonderful. The chicken itself was moist and tender. It was served with two dipping sauce. It was my dining partner's favorite dish. But, for me, it had a tad bit too much ginger. But, if you like ginger, this dish is a must order. It got excellent comments in reviews we read. I always get #2 with a peach ice tea. Not many places can make a good broth. Most salt it down, not good, but this place has the tastiest broth, no matter what proteins you get. While shopping at the nearby Trader Joe's, I would often notice Pholicious. As a lover of Pho, my interest was always piqued. I finally had the opportunity to try out the restaurant and I liked it. I came here last night with my cousin and both got the regular pho. The food came out pretty fast but was nothing extraordinary or memorable. There was barely any meat in the broth, just a lot of noodles. There are lots of pho options in the rockville area so I would recommend those places if wanting a good pho option. The service was inattentive and did not get any water refills until the end when I was already done with the meal. There weren't even that many people in the restaurant... The main issue I had with this restaurant was that on the menu it said the pho costed $10.5 but the total came out to almost $15 and then tip added an extra $2/3 so I ended up paying a total of almost double what the menu said the pho would cost. I understand that there are taxes, but how does a $10 pho come out to $15? There was no "receipt" as the payout system was done on an electronic device that did not give a breakdown of the prices. It seems dishonest, fishy and cheap. The summer rolls were a bland and the shrimp tasted overcooked. They were nice enough to omit the pork upon request and they can even make it vegetarian. There was a nice crunch to the summer rolls from the veg with in but I needed a lot of the dipping sauce to help finish it. The large bowls of pho have a good meat to noodle ratio: for every spoonful of noodle, there was a piece a meat. The large portion was a bit more than I expected so if I come again, I might get a regular. The broth itself is semi-sweet and good enough to drink on its own.
