Upon entering we were welcomed by light chatter in Vietnamese and the faint sweet smell of nuoc mam cham. To further fulfill that nostalgic feeling of my weekends having lunch at Eden Center with my parents as a teen, I ordered an avocado smoothie to sip while looking over the menu. I have never been to Hanoi so there were some dishes I hadn't tried before but if a Vietnamese restaurant tells you what their house specials are, you should listen to them. I only ordered three of their house special dishes because I only had one other person to share these large portions with but I definitely wanted to try more. All three dishes were hits! The bun bo hue had a deep shrimp paste flavor, which is exactly what I was craving. Some people complained that it lacked lemongrass, I agree, but it's in there and not a big deal for me. There was plenty of meat in the bowl, the meatballs were bouncy and meaty (maybe even made in house), the pork blood was great quality and not chalky at all. Red cabbage is served on the side with thai basil, lime, and jalapeños; great alternative for banana blossom. The bun cha Hanoi was our favorite. It comes with a heaping serving of house made meatballs and pork belly. The fish sauce it comes in was a little blander than I like but I asked for a little extra raw fish sauce and chilis to spruce it up. It's all served with a mound of vermicelli and fresh veggies/herbs. This was my husband's first time trying this dish and he was obsessed! We also added a nem cua be (crab egg roll) add on so we could try one. Glad we only got the one because it was huge and packed with meat! It was delicious but would have been very filling as an appetizer. I also ordered the banh cuon cha lua which I took one bite of and had to pack home because I was too full to eat it there. This is one of my favorite dishes so I had to try it too! The rice paper crepes were great! Filling was a little lighter but the portion made up for it. Again, I spruced up the fish sauce a bit at home. I really enjoyed dining here. It fills that craving for authentic Vietnamese food without having to go all the way to Silver Spring or Eden Center. This restaurant is located in the twinbrook parkway shopping mall that is anchored by the Lotte at one end and a library at the other. I walked in on a whim cuz friends said it was good and asked for a recommendation from the waitress. She gave me three possibilities and I chose the one from the new menu that they called the Vietnamese seafood crepe. . Did not know what to expect but when it arrived I was very upset cuz it's basically a big deep fried egg, stuffed with shrimp, sprouts etc. I was upset because I had gotten one of these at another restaurant and it was just gross. Really awful. Well so much for that. This crepe is so delicious, I will come back here just to get it. The egg itself is wonderfully crispy. It does not get soggy when you dip it in the dipping sauce. It comes with large pieces of romaine lettuce and a huge spring of basil leaves. It was awesome . The ambiance is very pleasant. It is large, spacious, clean, well-lit, with attractive pictures on the wall and two screens in the front. One has beautiful marine life swimming around and the other one has menu items. It is relaxing and attractive . The service was friendly and efficient. Although I don't think her English was very advanced, it didn't interfere with my ordering or getting something I liked. Normally we go to Eden center when we're craving good Vietnamese food but this is probably one of our new go to places. I got the veggie pho and crab spring rolls and both were delicious. The crab spring rolls were def unique and crispy seasoned well. As for the veggie pho I wasnt expecting much since lots of veggie phos tend to skimp on the tofu and the broth isn't paid much attention to but I was surprised they they had a decent amount of tofu and the veggie broth was well seasoned. Tried this place with my family for lunch the other day and appreciated the number of unique menu items that are not commonly found on other local Vietnamese restaurants' menus, such as Banh Cuon (Vietnamese crepes), Bun Bo Hue (Spicy lemongrass beef noodle soup), and Thit Quay Gion Bi (Crispy pork belly), for example. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in the Twinbrook area, with a decent number of parking spaces available in a lot right out front. The interior has nicely spaced out tables in the middle of the dining room for medium-sized parties, and some half booths along the perimeter, so no need to worry about crowding or sitting too close to other tables. Service was friendly and our food took a little bit of time to come out - not as long as it would take if it were freshly made - but still took some time as the wrapper of the Spring Roll seemed to taste freshly deep fried (despite the filling being precooked), although I think most items were just reheated. As for the authenticity of the restaurant, I am on the fence about this, as the fish sauce barely tasted like anything. Usually, the tell-tale sign of an authentic Vietnamese restaurant for me is determined by the fish sauce - it should be a balance between sweet, salty, sour, spicy and umami. The fish sauce here was neither of those flavors despite the variety of authentic dishes they offer. Overall, this establishment is a good introduction to some traditional Vietnamese dishes, but enhancing the flavor profile of the fish sauce would definitely make the food taste more authentic. I will come back if I am in the area and craving a certain Vietnamese dish that I can't find elsewhere, but it's likely I won't become a regular here. read more

I went to Hello Vietnam for a quick lunch after a long day of traveling. I was immediately greeted upon walking in and shown to a table. We decided to order the P4 and our food came quickly. The broth of the pho was delicious and the aromatics used to flavor the broth really came through. I can only rate them 5 stars - but I owe them 15. 5 for each visit! The Lemongrass chicken has been perfect each time, and every dish is packed with flavors. And - the amount of meat contained in each order is tremendous. There is no cutting corners here. The peanut sauce with the summer rolls is so e of the best we have had in the DMV. In fact, the only one I've had better in the last year has been in Singapore. Great crispy pork belly! It isn't easy to get a good one in my area but I found it now. Perfect cooking, texture and flavorful. The pork was so crispy and tender as the same time, balance layers between skin, fat and meat part. Def recommend this place, it's my new go to Viet restaurant!! So many dish options, not only is their pho delicious but also their other variety of Vietnamese dishes including meats w/ rice or vermicelli noodles. The serving size is very large and only comes in one size. I always get the P3. Also their sriracha tastes pretty legit or pretty similar to the OG sriracha which I've missed so much lol. I live in Frederick so yesterday was the first time I stopped by this restaurant on my way home. I ordered Bun Cha Ha Noi and it was delicious. The food was placed on a bamboo? plate so I am not sure how well this can be cleaned. I ate everything though since it looks clean enough and I was hungry.
