The Pho is excellent, order #16 you won't regret it. The Spring rolls are very good too. The restaurant is clean and bright and the service is prompt. The manager really cares about his customers. Today I ordered take out and inadvertently was given the wrong order; I didn't realize it until I arrived home. The manager personally delivered the correct order. Wow, surprised to see mediocre reviews here. My hubby and I eat pho frequently, and as Northern VA natives, we have tried most places in the area. We love Pho Hot and drive out to Annandale from Arlington to eat here. We love it. Broth is fresh and home-made. The vegetarian options are very good. As are the non-pho meals. And the service is top notch, the staff is friendly and courteous. I also love that they're open until midnight. read more

The steak soup is good, not fatty like other places. I like their fried spring rolls and it's a plus that they are open late. I will say the last few times I've been here I've noticed the staff takes your order and then you're on your own. I used to frequent this location back in my high school years when I was a teenager but stopped coming here when closer establishments opened up practically next to my house. Came back to find nothing has changed in the atmosphere, neon-centric Vietnamese explosion. Water falls, fake fire, the works. I think the broth makes or breaks a pho bowl which is good because the broth is hands down one of the best I have ever had. I prefer chicken broth, but I have had the vegetarian and beef and both are so amazing. The service is crazy fast, I went to the bathroom and the food was all there. Noodles aren't soggy and hold up to the flavorful broth. Prices are comparable to every other pho place in the area, the there is a $10 minimum for card and if you just order a bowl of soup (even a large) won't make that minimum. If you're stuck to make that minimum I recommend the iced coffee, Vietnamese drip coffee can go one of two ways: perfect or SUPER BITTER. They have the most balanced non bitter coffee I have ever had. I'm such a fan of this place. read more

I don't really get why everone loves this place. The food is ok, nothing special. The thing I hate most is the seating arrangement where all the tables are jsut next to each other like a cafeteria. I was really disappointed with this place. :( It had great hours, open seating, friendly service, nice decor. . . But when my food came out, I was completely turned off. Although it looked great, it wasn't hot (temp. wise) and it just didn't taste right. The broth was too salty and the meat was very tough and chewy. I personally didn't like the way they made their peanut sauce or the way they made their coconut drinks (had a very metallic taste). Almost every Sunday my husband, daughter and I will eat at a Pho restaurant close to my husbands barber shop in dale city (Ashdale area). The restaurant is called Pho Saigon. Well today we went a little early and when we were done at the Barber shop there was still 30 minutes till the restaurant opened. So instead we continued with our day and decided to eat Pho here at Pho Hot since it was on the way home. Well I hated it. Walking in the place was cold and had the feeling of a chain pho restaurant. We had to keep our Coats on. The waiter came, took our order and seemed rush even though there was not much going on. I thought that he'd get our order wrong because he rushed off. Well he got our order right and this is how I felt about the food. Spring Rolls- Lacking for $3.99 per order! All it had was shrimp lettuce and noodles. Plus they were extremely dry. The spring rolls I am used to has noodles, lettuce, shrimp, cucumber and a thinly sliced piece of meat and sometimes a little mint. Grilled Beef with Steamed rice (my plate)- The taste was okay. Again a bit lacking but not bad. The trouble I had was cutting it up and chewing it. It was so chewy I could not swallow. I had maybe 5 bites of the beef altogether that I was able to eat! Boy was I mad. I do not pay for food that I cannot eat! I understand that there may be parts of beef that is extremely chewy but you should not plate that and serve it to your customers. Grilled pork with steamed rice (my husbands plate)- He stated that it was okay but as he got closer to the end of his meal he found hair in his rice!!!! Now we totally understand that there are mess ups but this is upsetting! The customer service sucked. Not once did they come back through the meal to ask for refills or to check if everything was okay. The one star is for the presentation/ plating and garnishes on the plate. Everything else sucked. Not to mention the ground was extremely dirty. Hair and dirt everywhere. We are never ever ever coming back to this place. I highly recommend Pho Saigon in Dale City (Ashdale shopping Center). Pho hot is my go to place. The pho here is not bad and the restaurant is not like most! It is huge and very very very clean! I hate when they put all the utensils on the table but they do not do this here. They are clean. The restaurant is super well lit and cute. Over all I think this is the best place around. I just don't like that I have to go up to the front to pay. But that's the norm for pho restaurants. read more

The pho here are great, i love their spicy seafood pho and the dark meat chicken pho(which btw is the only one i know in the aeea with dark meat chicken). There rice with pork, beef or chicken chop are also very good. However the flaw lay within the service, although most vietnamese restaurants have little to no service but this one is particular especially when they are busy. read more

Great pho! Very nice clean ambience! Good for groups! They give you a lot of meat compared to most places. Everything is pretty good. The broth is very tasty and I find that the bowl size is slightly larger than at other pho places. The only thing that I can recommend about this place is they open at 9AM. The spring rolls are nothing special and come out mild warm. They still have no concept of when appertizers are to be served. If you tell them you would like them first, they will do that but the pho will arrive in less than one minute. If you order the appertizers and wait 5-10 minutes to order your pho...the same thing happens! Nice! The meat used is quite fatty in almost all the pho but they provide a large portion. Don't expect anyone to ask how the food is or if you need anything else. Empty water glasses do not get refilled. Also, they serve non chilled water with almost no ice. In fact, they pre pour glasses of water from the jug at the cashier station and leave them filled for when the next customer arrives. Also, they demand you sit close to the front, and I am not sure why as they don't provide any service. Laziness. The presence of a lot of MSG in the pho is very obvious and the broth is dark in color. This place has the worst service of any restaurant I have ever been to. read more

Just finished eating lunch there with some friends this afternoon. I've been going there ever since it has opened and was something of a regular (going at least 3 times a week). I met some friends up who already finished eating there and paid for their meal, they ordered 2 large seafood phos (roughly $9 each) and a single order of spring rolls ($3.50) their total bill came out to $35 for some reason. They paid before I got there and they're not the type to question bills, they just pay em even if they seem off. Well I ordered a regular Tai ($6.50) and a order of summer rolls ($3.50). When I went up to pay they tried charging me $17.80. I've been coming here since the place opened and after the $1 price hike they did a couple years back a regular 16 + spring rolls comes out to $10.97 exactly. This lady has rung me up 3x a week every week for the past I don't even know how many years, there have even been times where she just tells me straight up "$10.97" before I hand her my slip because that's how often I've eaten there. Obviously I told her that's not the right amount and she actually tried arguing with me about it! I asked her how she's going to see me weekly and try and tell me I don't know the amount of my food bill when I order the same thing every time. Eventually she relented and said "Okay, for you $10.97." like she had just done me a favor. I don't know if she's trying to make money on the side or management is telling her to scam customers but even the two Spanish people who were paying in front of me got into a dispute with her over the bill. Me and this lady were never close, we just know each other because I go there often, and even the few times I order take out and ask for extra hoison sauce she only begrudgingly gives me some, that's fine. I don't goto pho restaurants for customer service, I go there to eat but I don't go there to get ripped off and treated like an idiot. I'll be taking my business down the street to Viet House from now on. read more

The only redeeming 'quality' about this place is it's late hours. The soup is just "meh" and definitely overpriced. Service is non-existent. Tables are left uncleaned even when they are not busy. There are much better options in the area. I'd give it half a star if this was an option. read more

Welll, I guess the honeymoon didn't last. It's a little like those emotional Oprah episodes of the morbidly obese person losing half their body weight, but we only find out a couple months later in a tabloid that they gained all of it back plus an extra hundred through cheese fries binges. The customer service wasn't very good. It was close to closing and I stopped one of the employees to ask for a container for my pho and he said that he's off work now and then rushed to the back to grab the container for me. Around closing, they flickered the lights to hurry the ones in the restaurant eating. I understand it was late and they were ready to go home, but the hospitality wasn't there. Hit or miss on takeout. I love that Pho Hot has a vegetarian Pho option BUT you never know what you're going to get. Sometimes you get cold soup and no additional garnishments (so just the "meat" and the soup), sometime it's perfect, sometime sit just OK. I have always done takeout I'm not sure how the eat-in experience is. I must say though that service has always been very pleasant and courteous. Everyone is friendly and attentive. I went to eat Pho here on Sat night, and there was a roach part floating in my bro's soup. When I went to complain they only wanted to give us a refund for 1 pho back, even though we were all eating the same broth. The asain Manager that was there, she has a tom boy cut, was very rude and wanted to call the police on me because I wanted more than just one soup discounted off of my tab. She never even apologized....and she kept fighting us about a refund...HELLO, there is a roach in my soup!!! So with that said she finally gave us a credit for 3 soups and that was it. I"m never eating at this roach infested place ever again. It was so embarrasing to take my family there and be treated this way. I was there Jan 14th, 2012, this past Saturday. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant. When we first arrived, we thought the place looked really nice. We had to wait nearly 20 minutes for anyone to come to our table. Waiters would walk by, make eye contact, say nothing, and go on there way. They weren't busy at all. Servers were even standing around just talking to each other. While looking at the menu, we noticed a dead fish floating in the fountain next to our table and decided we weren't getting any seafood. The drip coffee I ordered came out in about a minute already ready. I never knew someone could make drip coffee that fast. It tasted watered down and not very flavorful. The food came out fast, except for one of the orders of pho they forgot. It took 10 minutes to flag a server down to tell them. The broth tasted like it was from a can, but the noodles were good. The only really positive part about the meal was they were great at refilling our water, which from reading a past review seemed to be a problem. To top everything off, one of my friends ended up getting sick a few hours later. With all of the other pho options in the area, I would suggest trying out another restaurant. read more
