    Dry pot

Friend and I didn't know exactly what to expect. I've been to several ayce hot pot places,.but never an a la carte hot pot. You pick your broth, you go to their ingredient bar, put the things you want into your bowl, and you pay by weight. Depending on your base, it's about 16-19 bucks a lb. They recommend 1.0-1.5 lbs, and there's a scale there so you can see where you are. The veggies all looked fresh. Many mushroom choices, veggies, fish balls, herbs, and a freezer full of sliced meats. Can't go wrong with beef brisket. The sauce bar is probably the most important section of a hot pot place. All liquids were available - soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, sriracha, sesame paste, chili oil, and others I'm missing. Scallions, garlic, chili flakes, fried garlic pieces, etc. It's a great sauce bar. Everything was clean inside. Will return. The staff was very helpful and attentive.

This is the only pick-up-your-stuff, standalone malatang place I know in the DMV as of this writing and it's actually Korean, but we'll take it. I'm already familiar with the concept of this restaurant from going to these types of malatang places in California, but I did think it was strange that the staff did not try to explain how everything worked. On the plus side, they have a scale for you to weigh the food you put in the bowl before you pay. I got the Mala Xiang Guo at Level 3 Hot. They are not playing with the heat here. I wonder how anyone could stand the spiciness of the top two levels. I would go down to Level 2 next time so I can enjoy the meal a little more. I was pleased with the selection of ingredients. What was different for me here is all the meats are pre-packaged into bundles, leaving less room (or weight) for you to mix. I also wished I asked for a bowl of white rice to go along with the dry pot. Would have been helpful to soak up all the spicy sauce. There are lots of Korean dishes on the menu I didn't get to try. You can try to leave room for a dish if you don't go heavy on the hot pot or dry pot, but it might be hard to resist when you're filling up your bowl!

I had a great experience at Sorimara Korean Dry Hot Pot! The food was incredibly tasty, with rich flavors and just the right amount of spice. I loved that I could customize my ingredients, and everything was fresh and well-seasoned. If you enjoy bold, spicy Korean flavors, this place is definitely worth trying. I'll definitely be coming back!

I love that you can completely customize your hot pot or stir fry bowl from the noodles, meat, veggies and endless toppings. You can also pick the type of sauce base as well as the spicy level. After you pick all your toppings they cook it for you and bring it to your table. If you go crazy with the toppings your meal is going to be very pricey so be careful to not overload it. I got the rose mala sauce and it was really delicious, I loved it. The servers are really friendly and helpful. There's also a large drink menu and other food items on the menu like rice and tteokbokki. I love the unique concept of this place and can't stop thinking about my yummy bowl.

Love the food here!! It's kind of like hot pot where you can pick your protein and vegetables. Then you give them your bowl of veggies/protein and they weigh it (you pay based on how much it weighs) and you tell them which base you want and what spice level. As someone who doesn't normally eat spicy food, level 2 was not too spicy for me! It felt like the right amount. My favorite base is the rose mala xiang guo - it's more of a saucy base rather than a soup like the malatang base.

Is this the most authentic mala I've ever had? Probably not, but that's okay since it might not be what Sorimmara is trying to be. To me it is an approachable mala tteokbokki fusion spot with fresh ingredients, customizable and unique flavors, a solid price point at $16.99 per pound, and approachable service. I went during the day and really enjoyed the relaxed ambiance. That said, I'd definitely come back for a late dinner and drinks at the bar. They offer fun, nostalgic beverages along with some creative cocktails. The orange cream soda was especially tasty and paired surprisingly well with the spicy mala. If you can handle heat, I'd recommend going up on your spice level. I chose level two and found it very mild. There's also a sauce bar with kimchi and radish, which is a nice touch and rounds out the experience.

The dry hotpot at Sorimmara is one of my favorite things to get and hits the spot every time I'm craving it! There's a variety of vegetables, fish cakes, noodles, and meat options and a separate section for sauce and other toppings. Rose Mala Hotpot 10/10 - I usually get a level 4 or 5 spicy with flat noodles, quail eggs, beef, water chest nuts, rice cake, etc - I'm sure any noodles would be delicious but the flat noodles are perf and so chewy - I've tried the regular Mala hotpot too, but def prefer the Rose now for the extra sauce! Pork Guobaorou 8/10 - love to get this for the texture - comes w the sweet and sour sauce, but I like to ask for the shrimp guobaorou sauce with this instead Service is friendly, and we got our food pretty quickly!

Updating my review because my addiction to eating here deserves an update from 4 stars to 5. I really don't know what it is about this place but I am always satisfied after leaving here and have brought some friends and they've felt the same. I also purposely get more food than I can finish because the leftovers are so so good (this is for the stir fry soup-less malatang). Upon my recent visit I noticed they have updated my menu to include more options- now including tomato based stir fry malatang which is delicious! *Also maybe it was just this visit but my same medium spice level noodles seemed a lot spicier than the last few times that I ordered the same thing. Not an issue, but that would only mean the spice is not consistent.*

Mala tang!! One of the only self service mala tang places in the DMV area. Pick your toppings and then weigh. So fun to customize your own bowls. Make sure not to overdo it, my friends bowl came out to be $45... Cooked fast and came out sizzling. Love how spicy the soup broth is and how it comes out hot! You can change the heat and it stays warm throughout. Also a sauce and condiments bar where you can get radishes and dip. You can also buy drinks here. Def a casual place to meet with friends and enjoy some mala !! I'll definitely be back to try the other flavors like rose, dry pot, etc.

Sorimmara is a fast, perfect, customizable option for any meal. We come here all the time because it is yummy and we can get exactly what we want. The first time we went, we definitely over-stuffed our bowls but we've learned since! This place is definitely no-frills, casual - we had an issues once where they switched my husband and i's sauces and they happily fixed the issues and let us make new bowls. Since you make your own bowls, service is fast, and easy to function. Highly recommend!

We came here with no expectation, but we were blown away by how delicious and flavorful our meal was! I love how you can customize your spice level and sauce that you would like, it was my first time trying the malatang, and it was absolutely delicious. If you like anything creamy and spicy, this is it. I thought for the portion and the price, it was very reasonable. We definitely will come back again!

Build your own mala was nice when it came out as individual with little heat for the soup. Rose mala is my go-to when i come here! Mala kills stress, indeed!

We ordered a spread: gyoza with sweet and spicy sauce, kimchi pancakes, fried shrimp, soy garlic wings, takoyaki, LA galbi, and jjampong with noodles... plus way too many drinks. We arrived early and scored prime seats by the bar, which turned out to be perfect, especially once the night shifted into more of a club vibe with a DJ. The energy was great, and most of the food was surprisingly delicious -- everything hit except the jjampong. We were expecting udon noodles, but it came with thin, clear noodles instead, and the flavor was a bit off for us. That said, the staff handled everything perfectly, and it didn't take away from the rest of the experience. Between the food, drinks, and nightlife atmosphere, we had an awesome time and will definitely be back. If you're looking for a spot that delivers on both taste and fun without compromise, this is it.

I really hate leaving negative reviews, but I think people should be aware before visiting…read more JMT has a clean environment and is usually a fun place to watch games. Unfortunately, I have not had a good service experience here. I visited a couple of times during the World Cup because of their advertised drink specials, and both visits ended with us being overcharged. When we questioned it, the staff gave what felt like the same rehearsed explanation each time. Before ordering, we specifically confirmed with our server that they were running the $5 rail drink special. By definition, a rail (or well) drink is made with the house liquor and a standard mixer. At JMT, however, you'll be charged extra for every little addition without anyone telling you beforehand. A splash of cranberry juice or tonic water resulted in additional charges that were never mentioned by either the server or the bartenders. On top of that, a 25% gratuity was automatically added despite our server being largely inattentive. Throughout the night, we repeatedly had to get up and ask for things ourselves, and not everyone at our table even received a cup for water. To make matters worse, both their menu and website clearly state that automatic gratuity applies to parties of 8 or more, yet our party of 6 was automatically charged 25%. When we brought these concerns to our server, he spoke with the manager, whose response was simply, "That's how we do things here." He explained that he wasn't familiar with the drinks because the bartenders determine the charges, and that it would be difficult to void and reprocess the bill. We were also told that they always add 25% gratuity for parties of 6 and that, in their view, a rail is simply a shot rather than a mixed well drink. Those explanations directly contradict both common industry terminology and the information advertised on their own menu and website. I understand that restaurants and bars get busy, and mistakes happen. What was disappointing was being told that they've been operating this way for a long time instead of acknowledging the inconsistencies or updating their advertised policies. That reflects poor management more than an isolated mistake. It doesn't feel good to invite friends somewhere only to have everyone end up paying more than expected because the advertised specials and gratuity policies don't match what is actually charged. I can't say how often this happens, but after experiencing it on multiple visits, I'd strongly recommend reviewing your bill carefully before paying.

There's no DJ and it's not super crowded, but the music is good and it truly is a place to just drink and hang out with your friends. The food here is actually phenomenal. From skewers to shareables like the potato pancake to entrées like the spicy creamy pasta, I've been very satisfied with it all. But really, what tops the food is the service. Donkatsu was okay, and the kikurage was good but probably only good bc I got the sauce on the side. Overall, a good late-night hangout spot, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for the food.
