My usual Pho spot was closed for renovations but I was feeling a little under the weather and needed Pho. Pho Nguyen was recommended to me by a friend who had been here a few times and I was very pleased with the food and service. This restaurant is located in a shopping center on Pines Blvd. There was plenty of parking, and the restaurant was pretty empty as it was 4th of July and most people were probably home or at a friend's house getting ready to grill. The restaurant was clean and the server was also cooking the food and working the register. I assume that this is not how the business usually runs, but it was a 1 man show for the time I was there. Thankfully there was only one other family of 4 at the restaurant so the employee wasn't too overwhelmed. I was patient and he came over with the menu, took my order and checked in both tables periodically. He was very efficient, extremely kind and overall I had a great meal that truly hit the spot. Came for lunch on a Friday at noon. Couple other families were there, but not busy at all. Plenty of seats available. Lots of options on the menu. We went with the Pho Dac Biet, Pho Tai, Pho Meatball, Grilled Beef Short Ribs Rice Plate, Spring Rolls, Mango Pineapple Smoothie, and Jackfruit Smoothie. It took a LONG time to get our first order. Prices going up! Quality and customer service going down! I've been coming to this restaurant for about 3 years now. The pho was good, and it was always consistent. Over the past year, I've noticed the prices for the food menu have increased. However, the quality of the broth and amount of meat provided has decreased. Also, the last time I was there, there were signs asking people to order at the counter before they sat down to dine in. This is the best photo in all of Miami and broward counties. I have went to A LOT of pho places (lived in Philly and NYC for about 30 years) and travelled. This is the best in SoFlo for sure hands down. I get the special and my wife gets the short rib pho. Wow both are amazing. We come here weekly or bi weekly. We started with some Shrimp Spring Rolls, vermicelli and lettuce wrapped in rice paper served with a yummy peanut sauce. It was a great and light start to our meal. We really wanted some Bahn Mi sandwiches, but they were all out, I will have to be back just to try that. I got the small Chicken Pho which was very flavorful. We had a definite pho craving for a while, and we were looking for places near me in Pines, and Pho Nguyen came up as one of the options. This place has by far the cleanest broth I have tasted so far. It's one of the few places I've had pho in that the broth does not seem too salty. It was absolutely refreshing, and it absolutely gives off the vibe that it's not done based off a mix/base, and definitely done at the restaurant. Absolute props. I ordered mine with flank, brisket and ribeye, and everything was sliced perfect paper-thin. Cooked in about a minute into the piping-hot broth. Everything was done right. My main complaint about this place? It doesn't look too safe to go at night. A few of the lights outside are fading and it gives it that dark alley look. Definitely the best place to go for Pho. I drive all the way from Miami just to eat Pho here. The broth is really flavorful and adding chili oil to it just makes it 10x better. I came here twice already and although they failed short of my expectations these are some really nice people. Everything from the appetizers and banh mi (Vietnamese baguette subs) and drinks are inexpensive. However, all the soup dishes were overpriced and not filling. Let me start by saying the large isn't really a large. It's like a medium at most pho shops. The meats were tender but the broth was a little salty. For the spicy beef broth it was more sweet than spicy. The egg rolls the first time was fried too hard and the second time it was fried just right. Spring rolls were a bit more consistent. Service could use some work... But overall, it's a family owned business and I'm all for the support...the first couple days aren't always the easiest. This was my first time trying Vietnamese food in the Miramar area. I ordered the Bho Kho and the Vietnamese iced coffee. There was nothing bad about the food, but also nothing that really amazed me. The Bho Kho was definitely flavorful, but very small servings. If you're hungry, I'd suggest also ordering an appetizer. The Vietnamese iced coffee was just like a typical iced coffee, but I felt like I drank two sips and it was gone lol. It was mostly ice in my cup. Service was very good; we felt taken care of. I love Vietnamese food but I live in Pines and I didn't feel like driving to my go to spots today. My go to spot for banh mi is 545 banh mi Cafe and for pho I go to pho by vihn. I got 2 banh mi one chicken and one pork at $8 each. These have got to be the smallest banh mi I've ever seen. They had barely any meat, veggies or pickled carrots. I also got 2 rice plates one chicken and one pork also. The same can be said about these two, both portions super small. I rather drive farther and pay a little more than come back to this spot. I've only been here twice. First time I went in and it took a good 30 minutes to get my order of Pho. It's been a while since I've been but I went today. This time I called ahead. The lady answered but was talking to other customers as I was trying to put my order in. She finally responded and said it would be 25 minutes. I walked in, was not greeted and waited by the cash register for at least 10 minutes while a man walked by me 3 times, and didn't say anything. I assumed he didn't speak English. He finally asked what I needed after the 4th time of walking past ignoring me. The pho was good but such terrible service that I won't be back. I haven't had Pho in years. It's just not a go-to meal for me. However, the other day I wanted something light and easy on the tummy and I thought some soup would be perfect. I remember passing by this place many times but never really giving it a thought. I'm glad I did. My husband and I loved it! We shared a bowl of Chicken Pho without the chicken. (They immediately accommodated our request without hesitation.) We both agreed that it was one of the best we've had. The taste of the peppers, noodles, herbs, and seasonings all burst with flavor. The soup itself, made with chicken broth, was delicious. It was hot and right on time. It was just the right amount to share between two people who were preparing to attend a dinner date with friends in a few hours. The staff was so welcoming and helpful. As I've said, it's been years since I ate Pho so the refresher given to us by the waitress was exactly what we needed to feel comfortable placing our order. She covered the entire menu and recommended we also try a smoothie so we chose the Soursop Smoothie. She was on point with that suggestion as well. It was really good. I'm not a fan of soursop so I only had a little, but my husband is and he enjoyed it. The restaurant is small but has enough seating for patrons to be comfortable even when it gets full. In need of a cure for a hangover or cold? Pho Nguyen is here to save the day! Right by Pembroke Lakes Mall, it's situated right next to the Youfit gym. We went right before the lunch rush on a Friday & made it right on time. The place is pretty small so it can get crowded quite fast. My usual for Vietnamese cuisine is their rice dishes so I had to get one here. The C6, which is a pork chop with rice and some vegetables on the side. It also comes with the classic fish sauce. I'm used to the side of vegetables having pickled carrots and daikon so I was a little disappointed when it just came with shredded carrots. The vegetables in general was a pretty small portion. The pork chop was seasoned well but it just wasn't the taste I was looking for. Not too bad overall but there's definitely room for improvement. I would say, however, their pho is AMAZING. We got the P5, which came with ribeye, well done flank, and brisket. The broth was probably one of the best broths I've tasted for pho so I recommend that! It took me less than 24 hours to visit Pho Nguyen, after hearing from fellow Yelper Kay S. that a new Pho restaurant had opened in the area. The restaurant is fairly small, with about 12 tables and a capacity of around about 50, and was full to capacity when we walked in around 8pm on a weeknight. The staff were friendly and helpful but were clearly struggling to keep up with the crowd and the demands, actually a good sign for such a new restaurant. Being a new place, and extra hungry, we decided to try an order of both the fried egg rolls and the spring rolls. The egg rolls were fine and along the lines of what you usually find at a Vietnamese restaurant, not too greasy and served with a nice sweet and sour type dipping sauce. The spring rolls were the better of the two, full of fresh ingredients, big shrimp and the texture of the skin on these rolls was perfection. For Pho, I went with the 'P1', basically a combination of all the cuts of meat; rib eye, flank, meatballs and tripe amongst other things. The broth was great; hot, flavorful and fresh and the meats and noodles just as satisfying and impressive. They only offer a small ($8.15) and a large ($10.95) size here so the large seems like the better bang for your buck and overall the sizes may have been slightly smaller than other similar restaurants. Overall a great meal and I'm thrilled to have another Pho option in the West Broward area. read more
