Firstly, the restaurant had a great and homey vibe to it. Very relaxing especially on a winter day. The menu had great options and even had sushi! But today we settled with mostly Vietnamese food. I honestly judge places on how well they pack food to enjoy at home--especially spots that pack soup. Everything was packed perfectly. I ordered from Pho Phu Linh online via yelp with Grubhub delivery. At the time, it was listed #6 during my search for shrimp fried rice within a radius of me in Skokie. Searching through the menu I was drawn to Pho rather than shrimp fried rice, but due to there not being Pho with just shrimp I ended up sticking with shrimp fried rice. Oh, the thought of Pho with shrimp was what I really wanted the evening I ordered from Pho Phu Linh. There was the seafood noodle option with shrimp, but it also had scallop, squid, fish ball, and imitation crab inside which I had no interest in. This has nothing to do with my rating of Pho Phu Linh, but I was very displeased with the Grubhub delivery driver, who placed my order at the side of the house rather than at the front door. A text message would have also been nice, letting me know that my order was delivered because anything could have happened. I swear, it is like Grubhub drivers go out of their way to not have any contact whatsoever with ordering customers and I am so over it. Now as for my food, the shrimp fried rice was delicious as expected! I was very satisfied with the huge portion of rice and shrimp given. I am never disappointed with shrimp fried rice, and I certainly was not with my order of it from Pho Phu Linh. Here's a place pho you. Or should I say here's the place pho pho? Pho sho! This is a bright open space with plenty of parking (a plus). It was sparsely filled when I dropped in for lunch. They thoroughly cleaned my table and I noted that hand sani is on the table, alongside the hoisin sauce, chili sauce and sriracha bottle. I ordered the shrimp spring roll which were two large rolls filled with about three shrimp, mint, lettuce, vermicelli noodles and accompanied by peanut dipping sauce. This was crisp and refreshing and I brightened with some chili sauce. I ordered the Pho Tai Chin Nam (round steak and brisket) which comes with a dish of bean sprouts, lime, basil and jalapeño to customize to your palate. The broth was fine, I added the lime and basil, and though the brisket was tender, I found the steak to be slightly tough. I found this to be a very large portion and they packed the leftovers to go. The menu has Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese items, so if you are not looking pho pho, there are plenty of other dishes to entice. Service was friendly and fast. We often come here with my family, parking is complimentary and is usually pretty available even during busy times. When you come in, someone behind the bar seats you and takes your order. When they first opened, the pho was my go to dish, but over time the flavors were not quite right anymore. And I started ordering more of their rice plates and various noodle bowls. Their portions are great for the pricing and you can always expect a powerful punch of flavors. When in a rush I usually order banh mis. Their banh mis are a great size, and come with a bag of potato chips. So you can get lunch and a snack for later all at the same time! The restaurant is a bit bare in decor, but when you sit down to eat and the food comes out, that's the better focus. They also have fruit smoothies and Vietnamese ice coffee as well. read more

I usually get weary when places offer a variety of variations of Asian cultures blended all together but from their Vietnamese to their sushi, everything was bangin! I've heard about this spot from my parents, who have tried this spot before. Pho Phu Linh is conveniently located on the way to visit my parents, so my husband and I stopped here for a quick bite before stopping by. What we ordered: Pho Dac Biet (pho special, one size) Veggie Spring Rolls (tofu, 1 order has 2 rolls) Grilled Beef Banh Mi (comes with plain crinkle chips on the side) Banana Mango Smoothie with Boba We came on a Sunday night and there were a few parties seated across the restaurant. There were also quite a few call-in orders, so I think this spot just be popular for take-out and folks can pick up their food. There is a small parking lot right next to the restaurant with plenty of spots available. There is also outdoor seating, although all the diners that day chose to sit indoors. It's nice to know they have that option, in case it is really nice outside or you want to bring a dog on the patio. There was only one server that night, another staff member who floated between the bar (making boba drinks) and serving food when it was ready. Service was still pretty prompt with one main server - we had no complaints! The veggie rolls were freshly wrapped, and I liked how there was a hint of mint among the lettuce. The dipping sauce had a great consistency and balance (mostly hoisin) with a dash of crushed roasted peanuts. It was delicious and a great appetizer. The broth for the pho was clear and tasty, and the portion size was not bad at all! There is only one size for pho, and they had generous amounts of noodles and steak/meatballs/tripe/tendon/brisket. It came with their standard tray of basil, bean sprouts, and jalapeños on the side. I wished the broth had more sliced onion and green onion - I love these additions in my bowl but understand this amounts vary from restaurant to restaurant. Next time, I will ask for extra onions and green onion. I noticed that they had REAL sriracha bottles on the table, along with the typical hoisin. They don't have fish sauce on the tables, but I didn't mind. I assume the patrons might not use it that much so they don't have it out. If you want it, I'd ask the server if they can bring some out from the kitchen. Their menu is pan-Asian, with sushi options, Thai options, and Chinese options. Usually I am weary when a spot offers that many types of cuisines but based on the quality and freshness of our food, I actually wouldn't hesitate to try their other non-Vietnamese items. Looking around the restaurant, most people ordered a bowl of noodles but some also ordered a sushi roll. If you're in the mood, why not?! You can get all your favorite Asian dishes in one place. I'll be back to try their other options. It's awesome to have a Vietnamese restaurant in Skokie. Growing up, my parents would drive our family to Uptown/Argyle to get our fix and now, it's right in their backyard. So I asked the nice waitress if I could just get a banh mi & avocado smoothie for take out instead of eating in and she was very understanding. She made my smoothie and it was pretty good. A lil more icey that I would like but it still had good avocado flavor. I was in a rush so I ate my sandwich in the car after I got where I needed to be. I was very happy with the bread to filling ratio. It also came with a bag of chips! In true banh mi form, I got bread crumbs everywhere. The bread was very good - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meats were good though I personally would've liked more pate. I was driving around the area and needed a spot to eat so I looked at Yelp for some ideas and found this spot. The weather was chilly so some noodle soup sounded really good at the time. This spot has ample parking and it's got plenty of seating inside. Their menu is extensive and I was pleased to find that they over vegetarian pho. I had to take a pic and share with my vegetarian friends since I've never seen pho served that way before. The Bun Bo hue is delicious and it even came with the blood cubes. My brother always gets the pho and he enjoys it. I also tried the seafood noodle and the flavors were more subtle but it had plenty of fish balls and shrimps. I've driven past Pho Phu Linh a bunch of times but have never stopped to eat there. That all changed today with my first visit! I was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the inside was. The restaurant interior is beautifully designed, clean, bright, and spacious. My friends and I ordered vegetable spring rolls, gyoza, and edamame to start with. All were yummy, but the gyoza were the best! We then shared a kung pao beef dish, and it came out hot, fresh, and was delicious! We then each got our own roll. One friend got the salmon avocado roll, another got a sweet potato roll, and I enjoyed the Chicago Bear Roll! This specialty roll was spicy, savory, and everything I could want going beyond my regular order of spicy tuna. This place is a hidden gem. I was browsing through places on yelp that had pescatarian options, and came across this one. Right away it stood out because of the menu items and also reviews, so we went to try it out. Right off the bat, service was really fast which was awesome. We got the spring rolls to start; the quality of the ingredients inside were really great, and everything was very flavorful. The noodle bowl was delicious. The pork and egg roll in it was really good, and it was a huge serving. I got the shrimp bahn mi, and the shrimp inside was cooked perfectly and was really flavorful. I also got the Soda Da Chanh and it tasted very fresh and limey (delicious!) I cant recommend this place enough. Pho Phu Linh in Skokie is the ideal place to order Chinese food without having to travel to Chinatown. I was having serious cravings for a crispy egg noodle dish and the only place known that makes it well is miles over in Chinatown. Hailing from Evanston, I didn't feel like making the journey so for years I've been trying to find a closer alternative. Queue in Pho Phu Linh. I discovered them a few years ago when they recently opened. I took my parents there and ordered Chicken Pho and their Beef crispy egg noodle dish. Everything we ordered since that first visit was very good and reasonably priced. The dine-in staff and carryout experience is also consistently positive.
