I went there specifically for their esaan menu. Ordered nam khao and esaan sausage. Nam Khao was flavorful. She even picked the herbs fresh from her pot. I love it! This is a nice little hidden gem. The staff is so friendly and the food is so flavorful. I went with my go to for Thai spots. The pad see ew beef spicy. It was actually spicy which I loved. Sometimes I feel like other places make it a little less spicy so no one complains if it's too hot. This was perfect. I also tried a little of my coworkers basil fried rice with beef spicy and that was also delicious. I don't think you can go wrong ordering anything here if this is how the food is cooked. It seems like a nice little family owned spot that definitely should get more business. Also: the lunch specials are about $12 with an upcharge for other meats. My wife and I decided that we'd try a new Thai restaurant. We used to go to Tub Tim Thai in Skokie, and one Saturday we had gone for dinner and left after not getting menus fifteen minutes after sitting down. This place is even worse I've been standing here for over 20 minutes waiting to give the person a takeout order. If i could charge for my time just waiting it would pay a significant portion of the bill. They need another person out front to help with taking orders and serving it's too much for one person. We have been going to Sri Siam for a year or two. It is good Thai in the suburbs without the drive to some of our favorites in the city. The food has sour and spice where needed. This is not your normal bland suburban Thai. Some of our regular items are: A08 Tod Mun Pla - more basic but kids love these everywhere YO2 Spicy Chicken Salad - spicy and sour Y10 Larb Salad - we have gotten this several different ways, with chicken, pork, beef feed . Getting with beef was a nice change from the normal way. N02 Pad See Ewe (Chicken) - great, our family non spicy/cool down dish E09 Hot Chilli Basil (Chicken) - great H04 Spicy Catfish - great Today we noticed a Thai menu on our way in, they called this the Sri Siam E-san menu. Menu is only in Thai. Off this menu, we got the Issan sausage and nam kao tod. The issan sausage is great. Be aware that it is spicy, you may not need the peppers provided. It also has vermicelli noodles in it, which I haven't seen prepared this way before but it worked great. Sri Siam is a BYOB restaurant with no corkage fee. I ordered for take out - sweet and sour catfish with sauce on the side - crab Rangoons My first impressions of the catfish were that it looked nicely battered, but it was a small portion for $13. It was more like a basic sweet and sour dish, so I probably should've ordered the spicy catfish to get more authentic Thai flavors. It was pretty decent though. The crab rangoons were pretty disappointing. They were fried well, but only tasted like cream cheese. There were a few pieces of celery, but they did not add any flavor. Overall, I think what I ordered from here was okay. I wouldn't really recommend the crab rangoons just because they didn't have any flavor to them. Just outstanding food. We are Thai food junkies and this place is now one of our favorites. In the last two days we had the Pad ke mow, Pad se ew, Holy basil, and something with cashews, along with the chicken satay. The lunch specials are a great deal as you get a choice of soup, along with a choice of an appetizer and then the main course. The portions are more then generous. We saw Sri Siam while stopping by across the street at Cantonese Palace. A quick check on Yelp showed favorable ratings so we saved it and we came back to this part of Morton Grove. We came early so there wasn't anyone around and got a corner table. The service was friendly and quick. Our server wore a mask, which is expected. We also got crab Rangoon for checking in (thank you Yelp)!! The Rangoons were creamy and stuffed. The pad Thai chicken and pad see ewe beef were both very tasty and good. A tad on the sweeter side so you may want some hot sauce to balance things out. There were no left overs so I felt like I over ate - but that's ok from time to time. Underrated spot! We live in the area and wanted to try this spot and now we are regulars!! It's definitely not fine dining, but we come here for a casual dinner or lunch with good food and space to have conversation. The service is great, very quick and always attentive and brings us all the little extra we need such as extra hot sauce, chopsticks instead of forks, and extra bowls and plates. I've tried so many things on the menu and I've also ordered before for a small family get together and I have yet to be disappointed! Price point is great, but the food is also great!! Sri Siam is a cozy little Thai restaurant that hits all the right notes. We went here with our kids and ordered a Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) and a Rama Noodle. We also took advantage of the Yelp deal for a free appetizer and got the cucumber salad, which was far more generous than we were expecting. Other than that, we really loaded up on the noodles. Thankfully, they were all done quite well, even though they had totally different flavor profiles - sweet, spicy, and peanut-ty, respectively, though the one commonality between the dishes in general was the sweetness. Toward the end, it started to become difficult to continue eating due to the sweetness. I don't blame them that much, because I don't think they expect most people to eat 2+ dishes, but it did get a bit sticky (literally - while good, the cucumber salad sauce was pretty viscous) and saccharine overall for my tastes. However, the Rama noodles really hit the spot for my peanut craving. I asked for extra sauce, in fact. The Rama noodles were good, if a bit simple. I'm no chef, but I think if I found the noodles, I could legitimately make the dish myself. That said, it was executed well - wide noodles with a good helping of broccoli all lathered with that delicious, smooth Thai peanut sauce. I ended up finishing my daughter's Pad Thai, which I would characterize as average. Hard to describe the Pad Thai as anything other than that if you already know what a Pad Thai is. I liked that they had the lime, peanut crumbles, and shredded carrots as toppings. Well executed, if a tad sweet - I was glad I didn't have to eat all of it. But then, I have a low tolerance for sweet tastes. Finally, the Pad Kee Mao, or Drunken Noodles. They had a nice kick! Again, the noodles themselves were done really well. No complaints there. The spice made me sweat, but it was manageable (and probably a 2 out of 10 on the Thai spice Richter scale). The peppers and other veggies added great texture. I really wanted to order the Kao Soy (under curries) but we had already ordered 3.5 dishes for 2.5 people (me, my daughter, and my wife). Next time! Otherwise, the space was welcoming. I could imagine it becoming crowded pretty easily, since it's a bit small, though we didn't have that problem tonight. The service was actually quite fast! Our dishes were out sooner than I had expected and they handled the bill quickly, too. I thought the dishes were just a *tad* smaller than I would have liked but with 3 dishes coming out to ~$29 before tax and tip, the prices are hard to beat. Overall, we'll definitely be coming back. This time I think the food quality was way better! Everything tasted flavorful, but still a bit too sweet for me near the end. The Pad Thai was stretchy and sticky, which I liked, but actually a bit spicy with red pepper flakes, which is good for us adults but couldn't feed to my kiddo sadly. Tom yum was just the right amount of sourness. The fish cakes were not as spicy as i would expect, but can definitely taste the mild spices and flavors, paired with crunchy cool cucumber, it was a great appetizer. Kao Soy was sweet but the curry broth was delicious. They fry their own crunchy strips which they did some extra for our kiddo. I love Thai food. It's up there in my top 3 Asian cuisines, so I'm always on the lookout for places that can satisfy my addiction. I would give this place more like 3.5 stars. I tried the pad see ewe, combination fried rice, and fried gyoza. I'd skip the gyoza - they tasted like something you can get frozen from the supermarket. Both the pad see ewe and the fried rice were good, but they were just missing something. We thought the flavors didn't have a ton of depth. There was a good portion of proteins in the fried rice - amen. As for the pad see ewe, I prefer it w/ Chinese broccoli, but because of the surcharge, I stuck to just good 'ol regular brocc. You know what made me happy though? They added a tiny cup of sambal oelek to my carryout bag - something the other Thai places I frequent don't do. I love me some sambal. I picked up an order to go on a weekday and it was ready within ~25 minutes. While waiting for my order I peeked into the kitchen and was appalled that no one was wearing a mask. The gentleman who rang me up went into the kitchen to help out but it didn't seem like he washed his hands and was handling the food barehanded. Now on to the food...Hubby and I both got the kao soy (egg noodles in curry broth with chicken breast, topped with green onions, shallots, crunchy noodles, fresh lime, and cilantro). I liked that there was plenty of broth but the chicken was dry (it would have been better if chicken thighs were used IMO). We also shared rama noodles (peanut sauce with steamed broccoli. Served with steamed rice and your choice of chicken, vegetable or tofu). The sauce was good but it only covered part of the dish and was not coated evenly as there were noodles that had no sauce. Although I like broccoli most of the dish was broccoli and it would have been nice to have more noodles. The menu mentioned that it comes with a side of rice which we never got (it didn't matter to me since noodle dishes typically don't come with rice) but they shouldn't have advertised that on the menu. 03/23/17 - I drove by Sri Siam yesterday. It's located in Waukegan just north of Dempster Ave. it's a small Thai restaurant located in a little strip mall. After looking at the menu I noticed they had a lunch special for $7.95. The lunch special gives you the option to select from 1 of 9 different dishes, 1 of 4 appetizers and the soup of the day. I ordered the garlic chicken as my main entry. The dish has red & green peppers and of course chicken & garlic. The food was a bit bland for my taste & could have used some Thai chili peppers to spice it up. Also included was the soup of the day which was egg drop soup, basically chicken soup with egg in it & 2 pieces of gyoza which were decent. Overall the food wasn't anything special. Well, I'm glad I gave Sri another try bc for a string of time, this place was my go to for pad see ewe take out! Do note the portions aren't as big as at other Thai restaurants, but the quality and protein is fresh. Dined in for the first time at lunch this week and couldn't pass up the value of the $8 3-course lunch special, including soup du jour, a choice of appetizer, and entree. Soup was rather bland; on that day, it was a broth with tofu and some green beans with green onion. Potsticker appetizer was ordinary. As for my entree, you guessed it, I got pad see ewe and was pleased with the plumpness of the shrimp I received. Waitress was nice, but she seemed to say yes to all our requests without actually listening or doing anything about it. Case in point: I asked for the Thai iced tea to be split between 2 cups, and she said yes, ok, but just served it to us in one cup... Also, it was requested to have the dishes prepared with less/minimal salt, but there was a good amount of added salt to the entrees, so the request was obviously ignored. read more

This is an ok strip mall Thai place. There are several in this area. The space is smallish and decor a bit outdated. We requested less saltiness on our lunch specials, but they came out the usual salty as well as overly sweet on the pad see ewe dishes. Guess it's the palate of the typical clientele that these little Thai places cater too and it can't be changed. Each of our 3 person party had one of their $7.95 lunch specials, and it's a decent lunch deal. - pad see ewe with shrimp ($2 adder) - pad see ewe with beef ($1 adder) - green curry chicken with rice The lunch special comes with a soup and an appetizer choice of crab rangoon, egg roll, or pot sticker (and we tried one of each). Sri Siam caught my eye while heading to work one afternoon. A big shout out to Sarah S, who's review prompted my interest on visiting after looking it up on Yelp. Typically I go to the Subway which sits a few stores down, however today I wanted to try a different restaurant, which just so happen to be Sri Siam. Pre my initial visit I had dropped in a week prior, but they were closed, which led to me anticipating even more. Sri Siam struck me as a peaceful little Thai restaurant during my initial in-store visit because it was not crowded whatsoever. Prior to ordering I was amazed at what their menu consisted of. What caught my attention initially was the Sweet & Sour Catfish, which I will most definitely try on a later date. As for my order I kept it simple and ordered the Satay, which consisted of grilled slices of marinated chicken tenderloin served on bamboo skewers with peanut butter sauce and cucumber salad. I also ordered a Saucy Cake, which is a chocolate brownie cake. I was a little hesitant on eating the slices of marinated chicken tenderloin with peanut dipping sauce, but overall it was pretty good as well as the Saucy Cake. My overall goal was just to check Sri Siam out with no intentions of ordering a major dish, but I hope to try something a little more filling during my next visit which will be very soon due to Sri Siam being near where I work. The portions at Sri Siam are huge! Both my friend and I who dined here had a ton left over. Service was super sweet & most of the time prompt. Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice - My buddy let me have his left overs, hurrah! Pretty good with fresh pieces of moist chicken. I'm not a big fried rice person but I found this one to be not overly greasy, fresh veggies in it, not too much soy sauce, just generally a good dish. Tofu Pad See Ewe - Tasty dish with quite a bit of long strips of tofu in it. It couldn't beat the Pad See Ewe at Jaded Thai but it was a solid meal fo sheezey. I love Sri Siam when I'm visiting my grandma (she likes it too) in Morton Grove. Here are the reasons why: Service: The server, Anna is always friendly and courteous. She offers water if you're waiting for a carry out order. She's the server, busser, cashier, order taker, and hostess so be patient people! Price: Their pricing is in line with other Thai places in the area. But the best deal is the lunch special. You get an appetizer, soup of the day, and an entree from the lunch menu for only $6.95. Food: Some Thai restaurants try to offer everything under the Thai food gamut and get it wrong. Sri Siam doesn't have the most expansive menu, but I appreciate it that. They know what they're good at making, and that's all they offer. I really like their noodles dishes and curry dishes. For noodles, Pad See Ewe and Pad Woon Sen are my favorites. For curry, I really like their green curry and Panang curry. Also, they offer brown rice as an option which is rare at Thai restaurants. ($1 for upgrade, but I don't mind). You may ask if I love everything here, why doesn't get 5 stars? Well, being Thai, no one makes better Thai food than my family so I don't ever give out 5 stars to Thai restaurant. They tasted as though they were from a vendor and previously frozen (I don't know if this is true, it was just my impression). The yellow curry was pretty good. The chocolate cake was fine.
