Yum, I really like this newish 11 month old Thai food court restaurant in the Park to Shop Plaza here. I came in to pick a carryout dinner of #14 green curry chicken ($12.95) and #51 Tom Leng with rice noodles ($17.95). Both dishes were tip-top delicious and authentic and good values to boot with generous portions for the price (except maybe the little bowl of rice noodles for the incremental $2). I got them both medium spice level, and they both had a nice bit of kick and that was perfect. The Tom Leng (sour and spicy pork soup) was a first for us, and it had a lot of tender pork meat still with the big flavor producing bones attached and in a flavorful broth. I would definitely order this again and I enjoyed the green curry chicken very much as well. They are literally a mom and pop operation and I saw both chefs pop out briefly from behind the kitchen curtain. Ning was the friendly attendant behind the counter and business was brisk. The word is getting out locally and it's nice and convenient to be able to get quality Thai nearby. I look forward to trying more dishes from here, and welcome to Niles!

I want to keep this Thai place under the radar because there were already a lot of people ordering from them when we went for Sunday dinner so we had to wait for a while! But then I also want to make sure to keep them alive as good Thai food in the area is non existent! The Tom leng (I asked for the Thai spicy and it didn't disappoint) was flavorful and huge! Easily 3 meals. Would want to go back to try other stuff.

Excellent flavors in the panaang curry! I also really like the Thai iced coffee, and the price on this is very reasonable. It's in a food court, so lots of options for what kind of Asian food to get, which is especially nice if you come with a group and everyone wants something different. That said, expect a food court style ambience, where you will need to return your tray to the restaurant you got it from. It's clean and not too busy.

I stopped by during lunch originally planning to order from Lai Lai, but I saw P Dern was finally opened. Their menu selection was what caught my eye. They have everything under the sun - boba drinks as well! I ordered their #1 Pad Thai and their Thai iced coffee. Both orders did not disappoint! It is the best Thai food in the burbs so far, and conveniently located in the Park to Shop food court! Will definitely be back to try more!

They serve authentic Thai food that is really delicious! They are located in the food hall of Park to Shop supermarket. I ordered their grilled meat and it was served with rice in a cute little basket , a nice touch! Have told a friend who is Thai and she likes their food too and said it is very authentic. Will be back!

Because we were already somewhat close to the area, and didn't want to go back and forth, we ended up being seated before 4 pm. It turned out to be an excellent overall experience. Chef of Siam is in its own small, dedicated building on Waukegan Road, and isn't much to look at from the outside with an OK amount of parking. It is relatively remodeled modern inside and later found out that it's been open for 2 years now. We got to choose our seating (since we were the only ones there). Menus were given along with a set of 4 table sauces. We knew our group of five wanted to eat family style so got a variety of things: classics and some I've never tried before. Chicken Satay ($7.95) - 4 pounded chicken breast pieces, marinated in a curry sauce, coming with a good cucumber salad. Tom Kha with Chicken ($5.95) - very light with good flavor. Ended up getting two of these to share, and I ended up finishing one portion by myself. Som Tum Poo $12.95 - papaya salad with salted rice field crabs. The vegetables were all al dente, with that classic Thai taste of sweet and sourness The crabs were interesting...really small, cut in half so I sucked out the meat from what I could. But I ended up not eating the legs...I ate the first piece whole, shell and all and it wouldn't be worth the effort for me. Pad Thai with Shrimp ($16.95) - Decent size portion, with a good balance of sweet/sour and plenty of plump, jumbo shrimps. Rama Noodle ($12.95) - large amount of chicken breast pieces, over wide rice noodles, topped with a yellow curry sauce and steamed broccoli surrounding. I thought it was OK, and was the least eaten of the dishes. Massaman Curry with Tofu ($12.95) - I try to get this whenever available, and this style was decent. The curry was very runny, but was delicious on top of the accompanying rice and I enjoyed the small bricks of fried tofu. Pineapple Fried Rice ($16.95) - maybe the weakest of the dishes, and also the most expensive. Not sure why pineapple fried rice continues to be one of the more expensive dishes on any Thai menu (when available)....pineapple isn't that expensive. Red Snapper ($35.00) - a whole dressed red snapper, deep fried and topped with Thai sweet/sour sauce. It's not market price, so it came from frozen and it wasn't particularly big nor had much meat. This is now what the ingredient costs now. I personally enjoyed taking the tail and slowly grabbing all of the sweet meat. Fried Banana ($6.95) - a great way to finish the meal, there were plenty of deep fried banana pieces, using a batter that you would use for fries or shrimp? My aunt confirmed that it was not plantain, but banana and I enjoyed it (reminded me a little of a banana foster). The quality of Thai dishes are closer to a fine dining Thai restaurant rather than a quick take out, even though the prices are more than reasonable. An automatic 18% gratuity was added for our party of five, and it's a stiff 12.5% tax in this area. Service was friendly and even though our server gave us a carafe of water, she still personally refilled our glasses when it got near empty. I tend to sweat quite profusely when eating Thai cuisine, and I did so again this time. My wife asked for some more napkins so I could wipe my brow. Our server did one better by bringing over a large wet towel that I used. It wasn't necessary but much appreciated.

I walked in here on a random weekday to order lunch and the very nice old lady took my order and I asked her if she was the owner she is her husband is the cook and you can see him there too This is not really a sitdown place. It is definitely a carryout. And that's OK. It is however located in a very dilapidated strip mall. And so you definitely don't expect to find it here. Whoever the Landlord is of this dilapidated strip mall if you're reading this, shame on you. This place though is a true diamond in the rough and gem. I'm definitely coming back here. I only ordered the pad Thai lunch special which came with a bottle of water and it came with a side of small appetizers that included two dumplings a spring roll and a crab Rangoon. What makes this place great is that I don't have to keep on going all the way to the city to get authentic Thai food!!!

I had to stop myself from eating the entire thing. They don't give you a lot of rice for carry out, so if you're one who loves rice and sauce you night need to ask for extra. They did toss in some extra dumplings for free which was a really nice surprise. We will definitely call in an order again when in the mood for Thai! Looking forward to trying their soups next round

The last two times we went there we've had a new server(younger female). Both times she's screwed up our order. I could see my dish sitting in the window for at least five minutes before she decided to grab it and bring it to a table that wasn't ours. The table she brought it to had ordered the same dish literally 2 minutes before mine was put in the window. She brought it to him before his appetizer was even up. He had specifically asked for zero spice and no peppers. The dish I ordered was a spice level 3. Not the best screw up when someone specifically asks for zero spice. She then avoided our table entirely and offered no explanation or apology. The younger male then brought us our check. We've loved this spot as a solid go to because we live walking distance and it doesn't disappoint. Moving forward, we'll probably opt for something else in the neighborhood. Serving size was good for the price. The broth was clear but I could barely taste the aroma of the star anise, cinnamon, and cloves etc. as I have with other pho restaurants. Beef pho should also have a savory taste and I didn't sense that. The only reason I'd come back is to try other entrees.
