I found myself surprised at the overall rating. Pretty disappointed at coming here. Didn't really feel like the staff valued business. Poor attention to detail and unfriendly is how I would characterize this place. If the food was remarkable I could possibly stay at a neutral rating but it isn't. I love Pho and this broth had absolutely no flavor. Even when I added Chili oil and Plum sauce, still tasted like Noodles in hot water (Yikes)... The lady that took my order wasn't the friendliest... We live in Fairwood and we usually always go to Kent for Pho. Yesterday we were coming home from work late and took our shot to trying Pho Rolls. We were skeptical at first because we've been to this location in the past (old management) and we were not fans then. But the pho is pretty decent. We order the combo pho which doesnt automatically come with tendon, if you're used to the classic combo. Definitely order the pho with Nuoc Beo (fatty broth or as my boyfriend likes to call it "the oil with the green onion" - actually works wherever we go). I cant speak for the pho without it but it was definitely delish with it! If asking for your order to go, ask for the noodles uncooked and just cook it at home. So glad we finally give it a try since it's less than a half mile away from our home. Well definitely come again. Also, don't expect 5 star service. It's a classic pho shop. Initially I was super excited to have another Pho restaurant in the neighborhood. The one that was there before it was disgusting (See review of Pho Hut), you could tell they were on the verge of shut down, and eventually they did! Pho Rolls originally opened with a wide variety on their menu including soups, sandwiches, rice plates, noodle plates, and several appetizers. However, they have recently changed the menu Unfortunately it is subpar, generic, and limited. Apparently, they got rid of the grill and have no plans on it returning. All of the Pho favorites are available, most appetizers seem about the same, and they have added a few new ones. However they have completely gotten rid of their rice and vermicelli plates. Instead now offer a lemon grass mixture of chicken, tofu, or prawns served on top of rice or vermicelli. All six plates are identical. I have not yet tried one, but quite frankly, they don't look appetizing! Needless to say, I was a regular customer, stopping in every couple of weeks for a chicken rice plate and appetizers. However, I really don't know that I will be back now that everything on the menu is fried and bland. I don't eat soup often, and I prefer a flavorful broth, theirs seems to be fairly weak. I question the owner as to why they would make such a substantial change, but she didn't really give any answers. The new menu started about two weeks ago and it is not appetizing. It feels more like Vietnamese fast food or grab-n-go... not a place that you would want to sit and hang out for a while. Unfortunately, it seems as if the wait staff has recently changed again as well. I don't see my favorites and their smiling faces. I really enjoy Pho and other items on the menu but this will no longer be my go to place... I'll likely go to the one in Covington by Costco or Pho Shizzle in Renton Highlands. (Broth is very tasty!!) I gave two stars simply because I'm disappointed that they did such a substantial change to the menu, however some of the new appetizers are fun and tasty. That alone is not enough for me to want to return however. We really need more/new/different and exceptional restaurants here in Fairwood. The ones that are left are outdated and serve poor quality food with terrible attitudes. The overall idea is that they have been here for so long and without competition... Why change? Limited space for anything new, instead we are stuck with "local favorites" GAG! Ugh, it's so frustrating that Pho Rolls decided to change the menu soooooooooooooooo substantially!!! We were snowed in and had to walk to Safeway for supplies since we weren't able to get the car out, so decided "while we were out" to stop in on this cold winter day. Menus and waters were dropped off to our table right away and the gentleman came back to take out orders shortly after that. It was lunch time so their business was brisk as people were coming in to dine and pick up their take out. First off my pho arrived with it's fixins. My friend commented why that came before out appetizer, and just as he said that the appetizer arrived. We dug into the deep fried prawns and finished them. I was really hoping to start eating my bowl of pho, but my friends order hadn't arrived yet, so just added the veggies and hot sauce to have it prepared. His order of lemon grass chicken arrived so then we both dug in. The pho was a plentiful serving, but lacking flavor in the broth even after adding the hoisin and Sriracha sauce. We were about halfway done when my friends beverage finally arrived, so he felt a bit slighted by both of his items being late arrivals. Pho Rolls' tofu bahn mi keeps me coming back. The person ringing up my order has been polite & sparked conversation each time I have come to pick up my order. Better then I expected. Went to LA Fitness around the corner and wanted to eat pho. Normally not a big fan of going to new places with few reviews because I think it's all family and friends who wrote the reviews. Walked in and no one was seated which made me eve more reluctant. I was pretty impressed with this restaurant. They had multiple choices for the fresh spring rolls. My favorite was with the one with a deep fried egg rolls in the spring roll wrap. Their broth was good too. Good size for a medium. I left on a good full. They even had the duck fat oil (have to ask for it) They don't have chili oil out on their table,but I asked for it and they gave me a small amount. Nice little spot, not too crowded. Late lunch / early dinner here with my BFF. He is a "pho connisuer" and had the vegetable and tofu pho with beef broth and extra noodles, with tofu spring rolls as an appetizer. He was mildly impressed, but having had pho from the international district in Seattle, it was not high in the list. I had the eye of round pho (#12) and had noooo problem polishing it off even in the 90° heat. The flavor was good, but the broth was a bit greasy for my taste. Pho rolls seems to be pretty inconsistent, we only come here because it's close by. We always order pho in a large size, but the noodles and sometimes the meat portions vary from small to large. When you order chicken pho you don't get chicken broth but the same beef broth. They have gotten our orders wrong a couple times and over charged us once. I was really nervous when my husband suggested we give this new place a try. After all, it's ok the same spot as the old Vietnamese restaurant that I really really disliked. And I thought, better to try it when it's just him and me-- so if it doesn't work out, it would have been a cheaper lesson learned than it would be with our kids. I am so glad we went in! The owner is there-- he takes orders, brings food, buses tables, AND talked to customers soliciting feedback. He was interested in finding out what people thought of his food. I don't think I had exchanged a single warm exchange with the old place in the 2 times I went there. We had bun, and Bhan mi- 2 staples in a good Vietnamese restaurant. Food was so flavorful and fresh. The baguette rolls fresh and warm, and the filling was generous. The bun was good, filling, had all the complete ingredients-- including the toasted shallots! Yummy! This is a delicious pho place! I love the flavor of the broth and I have gone here multiple times for about 2 years! My absolute favorite is that the pho is always piping hot! I have gone to multiple pho places where the broth isn't very warm. The staff is very friendly and kind as well. Perfect for any day! They did take out the small size that they use to previously sell for less than $9.00 that I use to really like but now they only have medium and large which is still great! I went here for the first time since it changed owners, and it was great! I don't know why I waited so long to go here. The man who seated my boyfriend and I was very friendly and welcoming and the lady who took our order was also very friendly. I loveeeeee pho & get a large no matter where I go, but this large pho was huge! It was definitely worth the price. The broth was really yummy and flavorful, not too oily. The meat was so good, it wasn't chewy and hard like other places it was super tender. Halfway through our meal the man who sat us earlier came by and was asking us if everything was good, and how our food was. At other pho places I feel like it's so hard catching any of the servers attention! And they definitely never come by asking if everything's alright. Sooooo good!! Got tofu spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls and pork dumplings. Taro milkshake, awesome, not really a bubble tea but there is nothing near by so this works, maybe they have a different menu for the bubble teas. Now the dumplings threw me off, these were more like a pan fried potsticker but they were flavorful so I am not complaining just be aware if you're looking for that traditional dumpling. This place use to be called pho hut. It looks exactly the same in the inside but it is definitely under new management or something. The broth was not very flavorful and loaded with small wedges if lime. The hard part was there was so much lime that you would end up being into them and they would taste bitter like like rinds would. read more
