I'm always a little skeptic when a place does multiple cuisines. But this local restaurant does a good job. The best thing we ate were the salt and pepper calamari. It was tender and flavorful. You even got a bit of that wok char on it when they cooked it all together with the bell peppers. It was the most satisfying thing we ate. The chicken wings were flavorful as well but didn't love the coating. It was super crunchy but just a little too heavy on the coating for my preference. The pho was not anything I would go out of my way for. But it did its job. And for $13 for a combo pho, I was not mad at it all. Definitely packed with a lot of noodles if you appreciate that too. The broth was solid. The service was friendly. It's a small restaurant with a good amount of seating. Nothing fancy at all. But you don't hear for vibes. You come here for affordable eats that deliver on flavor. I definitely plan on coming back and trying their chow fun. If the calamari had the wok char, I can only hope their chow fun would too. We were seated as soon as we walked in and the hostess/waitress/owner? Was super friendly. She was quick to get our drink and food orders in and engaged with our 1.5yr old, which was very sweet. The crab rangoons were to die for, my husband loved his noodle dish. My pad thai noodles were a little chewy and under cooked but the flavors were there. My boyfriend and I are were looking for some lunch specials in Renton and mu boyfriend chose Fortune Noodle House out of the options that I had for him. We arrived here and there was only one other table occupied. We were greeted by the cashier/hostess/waitress who let us pick our table and dropped off some menus. I noticed the lunch special menu wasn't included and had to ask the waitress if they were doing a lunch. She brings over the lunch menu and tells me that they only have combo 2 and combo 3 so I went with my combo three while my boyfriend got the Single Dinner combo 2. Our entrees come with a soup which I thought would be a simple soup but we were provided what taste like a Vietnamese soup that came with some noodles, meat, and vegetables. It was delicious and not too spicy that even my boyfriend enjoyed his portion. The food came after several minutes and it was just okay. The sweet and sour chicken tasted off, the meat just felt really off. The phad thai for me was not really flavorful and it was really clumpy which I'm not a fan of. The crab rangoon was delicious though. My boyfriend's beef lumpia was pretty tasty and he said the Mongolian beef was tasty but agreed with me about the sweet and sour. The portions are pretty big for a lunch special but it just wasn't good. The waitress never checked on us after dropping off our food which was unfortunate as we needed water. The inside was nothing memorable either, they barely have any decorations or any attempt to give the restaurant an identity. They had a large flat screen TV playing views of different tropical islands but there was no music. After we got our food, the waitress turned on a very loud fan and I wasn't sure what that was all about. We ordered the Tom Yum Talay, Shrimp Salad Rolls, Fried Egg Rolls with chicken, and Thai Honey Chicken Breast. We enjoyed everything, everything was tasty. The Tom Yum could have been more sour, or maybe not enough tamarind. This place has been in my neighborhood for quite some time. I was starving for Pho and didn't wanna drive a few more miles so I decided to try it. I was not disappointed. It is a smaller location probably only has about nine tables. But the menu is packed full of a lot of different things ranging from Vietnamese Thai and other others. I of course, ordered the beef and some shrimp spring rolls. The shrimp spring rolls definitely were handmade fresh. And even though they didn't have all of the other extra ingredients like cilantro or cucumber, they were delicious. The fuck came just shortly after piping hot. I did enjoy the quality of the meat. It was not fatty and very lean and the noodles were nice and chewy. The broth was very good. It made me actually think why I didn't come here sooner to try out this place that's just up the street. If you decide to come here and eat, you won't be disappointed. I came here for convenience being that it was so close to the UPS store and it was too late to cook. I haven't been here in years and had forgotten what it was like inside. I thought initially it was sort of like a Panda Express where you point to what you wanted and they scoop it up but it wasn't. Theres a menu posted right when you walk in. I ordered pho and banh mi. The menu has a hodgepodge of Asian food. It took a while for the food to arrive - as in..ordered at 630 and didn't get it till 645. Ordered to-go. It wasn't busy either. It seemed like the older lady had to get help from the possible owner of how to order. The banh mi was okay. It wasn't really authentic and lacked the pate in the mayo mixture. Also, the cucumber was sliced strangely and it was warm and soggy. I think they should have sliced it into wedges instead of half moons. The pho was ok but also not super authentic. No one comes to check on you or refill your water - even when there are no other customers. When you are eating something spicy, like their Bún bò Huế, this can be a problem. Ordered brown rice, but got white rice [fixed though], and ordered one hot tea but got two [OK, I guess]. Bottom line: while the people running the place were certainly nice enough, accuracy in service is not a priority at Fortune Noodle House. My favorite dish is the house chow mein which is full of shrimp, BBQ pork and chicken (I omit the fish balls). I also love the pho which is great in flavor and a good portion. Unlike most establishments, Fortune Noodle House is quick-service concept - meaning you order and pay first, then sit down. I ordered a small steak and meatball pho and it came out pretty quick. The pho was so good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The broth was super flavorful as well, to the point where I wouldn't need that much hoisin sauce/sriracha. The service is below average. I don't know what happened to this place but something seemed to change and it's not for the best. Looking at the reviews you can definitely see a transition. There were 4 of us and the place was empty for lunch. Everything just felt dirty and there was an unpleasant smell to the place. It just didn't seem very clean. The menus felt sticky too. 2 of us ordered pho and the broth was too sweet for our taste and did not have that "deep" delicious pho broth taste. The 2 others in our party ordered a Phnom Penh Cambodian noodle dish and it was just ok. I'd say this place is about average for Asian food. The pad thai was a bit flavorless though to be fair because it was for my daughter we got the non-spicy version without green onions, so maybe the regular version would taste better. The orange chicken was heavily breaded and didn't have a whole lot of chicken, as well as being relatively flavorless. It was sweet and sticky, so sticky we had a hard time peeling it off the paper after dinner. It wasn't bad by any means, but just average. Reminded me of small-town Chinese food where they don't want to scare anyone off by being too interesting tasting. The Vietnamese beef Banh Mi sandwich I got was okay tasting, but again it lacked any spice or interesting flavor. The beef was a little fatty and chewy. I've had much better Banh Mi sandwiches and I wouldn't order it here again with beef, though I might try it with chicken. By far the best dish was the vermicelli noodle Bun Pork and Egg Roll my wife got. She quite enjoyed it, except for the pork: it was too fatty so she didn't eat any of it. Came here on a weekday around lunch time. This is a tiny friendly family restaurant. The lady who took our order was very courteous which is very nice. They have a variety of food selection to choose from. The lunch special combo was good portion size and very flavorful. I love the deep fried fish but the sauce was a little overwhelming. The most horrible experience I've had in Renton! I'm usually not so critical about my food and think twice before posting, but this was OMG (and not in a good way!) We got the spicy noodles with tofu. There was nothing spicy about them, I don't think they even had salt! Then we got the Fried Almond Chicken and it was tasteless! With the new owners the place unfortunately is no longer the same. The flavors are hit and miss, the eggplant tofu (used to be our favorite) is a distant memory from what it was in the past. The service takes much longer and food comes out with much smaller portion while the prices went up quite a bit. They seem to serve online ordering public first and so sometimes you can sit in the restaurant for nearly 30 min waiting for your food. Not cool, not cool at all. Our takeout was ready on time. None of the food tasted bad. Yet we also weren't excited about any of it. The Pho lacked flavor. The broth was just broth, without depth. The meat was completely spiceless. The fried rice was bland, the shrimp rolls were bland, the pad thai was bland, the noodles were bland. Across the board, we ate the food, it was fine, but it didn't have much flavor at all. I used a lot of hot sauce and made it interesting, but particularly for those who don't use much hot sauce, there wasn't much flavor to the food. It was somewhat telling that my 7-year-old loved the food. She is usually overwhelmed by flavors in restaurant foods, but this food she was able to eat just fine. All the reviews here describe this place as heavenly. Not sure how though. I ordered the curry chicken fried rice. It was pretty average tasting. It was like they used some standard curry powder that's store bought. Portions are decent. Another good point is that they don't drown it in oil like some Chinese places do. The food could definitely improve a bit, seemed like the food was made out of boredom and lack of interest, which obviously translates directly to the way it tastes like.
