I enjoyed the authentic, high-quality food, the first-rate service and the pleasant atmosphere during my soft opening dine-in lunch visit at this new, family-owned restaurant. My bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup) was delicious, with plenty of tasty, premium beef and pork, noodles and a tasty broth with a good, but not over-powering, amount of heat. I didn't notice any shortcuts made in the meal prep. It was almost like having a home cooked Vietnamese meal. It took about 30 min to be served because soups take time to prepare, but it was worth the wait. The $15 entrée was served in a generous 8.5" x 3" bowl with a separate plate of fresh veggies and limes. I liked the cheerful, friendly, attentive table service. The owner(?) also came out from the kitchen for a satisfaction check. She was very sweet and was genuinely interested in customer feedback - nice! I found the dining area to be clean and newly remodeled with Vietnamese background music, a large screen TV (not on) and a mix of booths and tables. The extensive menu included appetizers, bánh mì (sandwiches with bread baked in-house daily), bún & pho (noodle soups), com (rice platters) and Vietnamese beverages. Excellent!

Excellent food with generous portions! The soup was incredibly flavorful, rich, and comforting. I also loved the 80s music playing in the background--it created a fun and relaxing atmosphere. The ladies working there were so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, making us feel right at home. Great food, wonderful service, and a cozy vibe--I'll definitely be coming back!"

I was a little hesitant at first since the restaurant isn't the most inviting from the outside. The cleanliness could have been better, as they were doing quite a bit of reorganizing while customers were dining. That said, the food was excellent! The presentation was great. I loved both the pho and the vermicelli noodles I ordered. The service was good as well, and overall I would definitely come back again.

We did enjoy the shrimp, spring rolls, but were slightly disappointed that the peanut sauce was very watery. The menu had a good variety, but most of the dishes involved pork, very few involved chicken. Tofu dishes were also an option. The chicken pad Thai was very tasty; rather than cooking the dish to a persons heat specification, they just provide extra chili powder on the plate if you wanted to make it spicier. The main reason for the low review would be the cleanliness of the restaurant. On the table were a variety of spices and sauces in various containers, but they didn't look like they had been cleaned or changed in several uses, so we did not use or investigate to know exactly what things were.

When you walk in, the place is relatively quiet, but there's an unmistakeable smell that reminds me of vomit that lingers in the whole restaurant. I think it may actually be the varnish on the wooden tables, but it's everywhere and overwhelming. The spring rolls were fine, and the pho was relatively well seasoned and they were quite generous with the meat. I would continue to get take out from here, but there are better pho places in town.

I…read morehave been craving it ever since and for my birthday lunch this week I drove across the metro to this Lao restaurant to satisfy my craving. Khop Jai Der is a very small place with tables crowded together that made it difficult to navigate with my current and temporary situation of using crutches. I ordered the Papaya Salad and asked for moderate spice level. What I received looked nothing like my last fantastic salad. Very little sauce, a skimpy amount of papaya, pieces of cabbage that were way too large and a spice level that was way over-board. The female that brought my dish ignored me for the rest of my lunch even though she was sitting at the table next to me talking to her friends. I never got a water refill that I desperately needed and had to get up and maneuver my way to the restroom for napkins after deleting the two at the table because of severe sinus drain. I finally took 70% of my meal to the register and asked for a to-go box. I showed my Hmong co-worker the next day and he agreed that this was not the place to get what I craved. He brought me a homemade bowl of the greatest papaya salad for my lunch today so I finally did find redemption, but it wasn't from KJD. With an almost inedible $20+ lunch, inadequate and dismissive service while my digestive tract was on fire and a claustrophobic environment, I can't find a reason to recommend this place. The biggest let down that I've had in a very long time.

They were crisp and well stuffed, accompanied by a nice thick chili paste and soy sauce. I had the Pad Kua Mee - thick noodles, bean sprouts and scallions with a lovely sauce with just a hint of sweetness. The mango sticky rice was amazing and I would come back just for it! A wonderful little spot!

I usually come here for dim sum, and it is upsetting for me to say that my husband and I should've chose somewhere else to eat for dinner. For dinner, we ordered fried rice and chow fun. Those two main entrées were okay. You can't really mess up those two fillers at an Asian restaurant. We ordered scallion pancakes- they came out soggy and soft. Not even crispy like how they usually are. The flavor wasn't there either. If I wanted microwaved scallion pancakes, then I would've bought them from the store and made them myself. My husband ordered the short ribs- they were bland and tough like rubber. It had a funky taste to it that he couldn't describe and he had to force himself to swallow it because he didn't want food to go to waste. I ordered the chicken feet- this is one of dim sum's signature dishes and I am so upset I didn't even get to enjoy one of the dishes I always order. It was dry and the flavor wasn't there. The service was fantastic. They checked in on us and made sure our water was filled. The timing of the food coming in and out was fine. The ambiance was inviting. There was a sense of urgency and I appreciated that.

We got Vietnamese iced coffees, crab rangoons, spring rolls, and pho. The pho I had was rich in flavor for the broth. You can tell it was boiled for awhile. The noodles were cooked perfectly! Their peanut sauce that went with the spring rolls was thicker than the places that I am used to. I must say I actually prefer this locations peanut sauce over the ones I have had in my home state. 10/10! Will come again.

The staff was doing the best they could to keep up with the crowd, and everyone was friendly and courteous. The food was good overall. The pho had a good, flavorful broth, and the hủ tiếu mì khô was also well-seasoned with good flavor. They accidentally forgot our sweet potato dish, but with how busy they were, we decided not to wait any longer. The cà phê sữa đá was excellent--the balance of strong coffee and sweet condensed milk was just right. The bánh mì was decent as well. The bread was perfectly toasted and had a nice crust, though I do wish it had a little more meat. Overall, it was a good lunch experience. I think I'd come back after the crowds settle down a bit so we can try more of the menu at a more relaxed pace.
