LOVE THIS PLACE. I stopped by for lunch totally unplanned. I asked the server (who was super friendly) what she recommended and she said "it's all good!" Haha. So I asked, "What do you think of the pork vermicelli?" And she said, "That's a good one. It's too hot for pho!" Love her. And true to her words, the vermicelli was SO GOOD!! I literally devoured it. The Pho is outstanding, when you're under the weather, this is possibly one of the best things you can do for yourself. Friendly staff. If there ever was a place that needs to put a sign on their door to shut the door, it's here. They have two doors and they don't shut and people don't realize it so it gets really drafty. This is really nice quality broth and it comes out quickly. I did find the meat quality/style little bit inconsistent though, got a lot of fatty slices one night, and then 2 weeks later, the meat was a lot more lean. I can't remember if it was the brisket that I might have ordered both nights, however, the second night I accompanied it with meatballs and sliced beef. The bathroom is pretty janky. But honestly for me, I like a restaurant that spends a little bit more time in the food versus the ambiance. I've been here twice and probably will be back more. Came in on a gloomy Wednesday Morning and it was pretty packed, I didn't get sat right away because it seemed to be a one woman show at the time, she was taking orders on the phone, serving, filling take out orders and even seemed to work the kitchen as well. I've eaten at Pho Tower a few times and in my experience, the key to pho is the broth. One other thing I've noticed is that Vietnamese places focus on fresh vegetables, and both the broth and veggies are on point here. I hosted a close friend here who's a foodie, and he agreed that it's very good eating. I also look for places where the prices are affordable so they're not trying to gouge individual guests, in other words they sell to a big enough volume of people that they get enough demand to stay in business without overcharging, so I don't break my budget. Pho Tower is located a little north of Westport, near Redemptorist Catholic church on Broadway. The ambiance is unremarkable, but fine for the location. It's also walking distance from the Uptown Theater. I've eaten at the counter and in my few visits the service was a bit more attentive there than at table. It definitely gets busy here. I found street parking ample, and if you visit in the non-busy times, I've found parking very close, plus there's a big lot across Broadway. It was a Saturday in July and all my 20 year old daughter wanted for her birthday was Phó. I kid you not when I tell you that every other phó restaurant in the city was closed this day! On our FOURTH attempt looking for an open Vietnamese restaurant, we finally found this place. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. The pork buns were exceptional! Stopped by this gem before checking in to our hotel. You would not know this place existed until you were actively looking, but everyone needs to try the food at this place. The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. Upon sitting us down, she was very attentive and gave us plenty of time to order. Once we ordered, it was less than 10 minutes until we received our food. My wife got the vermicelli bowl with beef and she wished there was more flavor to it. It's hard to leave a pho place hungry...but this is one exception. Overall their pho is tasty, but a little more on the salty, heavy-msg side. My husband got their brisket pho (Regular pho $9 + $2.50 extra noodles) and I ordered their tendon pho (Regular). In the end, I ordered another bowl of extra noodles and was still hungry. Pros: + tendon was AMAZING! Good quality meat! + noodles were cooked to perfection. Perfectly chewy and not too overcooked. + broth that actually tasted like pho. I know it sounds cliche, but you'd be surprised how many pho places I've been to where this is not the case. Cons: - mediocre service. There was only one waitress on the floor on a Sunday night. It took her 10min to get us seated even though there were 4-5 tables open. They also forgot our order of extra noodles.
