Stiped by with the family. I ordered 2 appetizers, the egg rolls had a great crunch but the flavor came from the sauce 3/5. The BBQ pork buns had great texture and nice flavor but the pork it self was not seasoned just the bread 4/5. The water was cold but tasted like chlorine 1/5. I came for a family member but wouldn't come back on my own.

The Pho is outstanding, when you're under the weather, this is possibly one of the best things you can do for yourself. Friendly staff. If there ever was a place that needs to put a sign on their door to shut the door, it's here. They have two doors and they don't shut and people don't realize it so it gets really drafty. Now when Kansas City has a cold night, these doors need to be shut, end of story.

I love coming here for pho. This place doesn't disappoint and the service is good. Inside is kind of dated but it's also clean in here.

Came in on a gloomy Wednesday Morning and it was pretty packed, I didn't get sat right away because it seemed to be a one woman show at the time, she was taking orders on the phone, serving, filling take out orders and even seemed to work the kitchen as well. It was frustrating at first because I thought It would be a long wait, but she was a very impressive multitasker. I sat at the bar, got a menu, ordered pretty quickly and got my pho within mins and it was delicious! The broth was amazing and the steak was a little thicker then I'm use to but I still liked it. Def would go again, eventually someone came in to help her but either way I was impressed!

Went there for a late lunch. There were only few people inside when got there. The place looked clean. I ordered the vermicelli beef and was surprised to see big portion. The service was great and the servers were attentive.

One of my top go-to spots in Kansas City! I probably get this at least once a week it's so good! The pho is amazing but have yet to try anything I don't love here. And if you've never tried the BBQ Pork Buns, they are NEXT LEVEL. Super quick for carry out orders but also great for dine-in as well!

We came in for a quick "snack" Ordered a few appetizers. All were fresh and delicious. Plus, all were $10 each. Can't get that anywhere else in this economy. Service was great. All servers were very attentive and friendly. They have street parking and parking lot next to the bar. I will definitely back to try other items on their menu, like pho and banh mi. On Thursday, you can get banh mi and for BOGO for $3

I often get their seafood pho to go, I ask for spiciness to go and they give me a chili paste that makes the broth so delicious. They give plenty of seafood to go in the box and are always ready promptly and kind.

Hidden gem! Not many places offer veggie broth with their vegetable pho. But this place does and it was very good! Got my appetizer and food fairly quick, and the amount of noodles they give you is a filling amount! Parking is good too, as there is a parking lot next to it. 10/10 recommend giving this place a try!

It was a Saturday in July and all my 20 year old daughter wanted for her birthday was Phó. I kid you not when I tell you that every other phó restaurant in the city was closed this day! On our FOURTH attempt looking for an open Vietnamese restaurant, we finally found this place. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. The pork buns were exceptional! The only complaint from our group was from the person that ordered the chicken curry. From someone that loves spicy food, the curry was a little over the top spicy for them. It wasn't our absolute favorite phò in the city, but it was pretty darn close and we really enjoyed our experience.

Stopped by this gem before checking in to our hotel. You would not know this place existed until you were actively looking, but everyone needs to try the food at this place. The service was fast and the waitress was friendly. Upon sitting us down, she was very attentive and gave us plenty of time to order. Once we ordered, it was less than 10 minutes until we received our food. My wife got the vermicelli bowl with beef and she wished there was more flavor to it. The shrimp rolls were packed with shrimp and crunchy. My wife had a nice, flavorful broth with plenty of protein and noodles. Inside looked very old, but clean. Definitely check this place out if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food!

Came to Kansas City over the recent holidays to visit some friends, and Beer Kitchen came as a…read morelocal recommended place. Good food, good vibes, good beer selection, I was sold. So we loaded up and showed up one day around Noon. Ambiance was really cool. It's in the middle of some sort of progressive looking shanty-esque suburb. The kind of place that does drag queen bingo. I was right at home. Inside was college sport bar, but with a nice, huge board on the wall of all their beer selection. It Was quite expansive. Service was top notch, too. Nice server took care of us, made sure our glasses were never empty. The food came out at a good clips, and we got an unexpected bonus of free little beignet-like donuts with some delicious dipping sauces. As for food, we started off with a jumbo order of the Truffle Parmesan Hand-Cut Fries for the table. We got to choose two from their extensive list of aioli dipping sauces. Fries were good. Dusted with the perfect amounts of truffle and parmesan. And the sauces were my oh my. I recommend paying the upcharge to just try them all. I mentioned the time earlier, because we had no idea we were stumbling upon their brunch menu. Even more options to choose from! I got the Crispy Waffle Smash Burger (smashed hertzog beef patties, fried egg, smoked bacon, merkt's cheddar, caramelized onion, maple aioli, crispy buttermilk waffle). This thing was really nice. Perfect waffle, not too small, not too big, and no oily or anything obtrusive. A nice bun option. Eggs and bacon sometime get lost against giant burger patties, but with these smash patties, the extra accoutrements really stand out and make this burger really stand out in my mind. I also for the try the Smokestack Burger (smoked burnt ends, smoked gouda, whiskey bbq glaze, pickle relish, chipotle aioli & crispy jalapeño straws). Uhhh, as you can read, this thing was loaded with goodness. Fatty burger, smokey burnt ends, sweet boozy glaze, acidic pickles, and texture from that jalapeno. This was the perfect burger. I insist you order this. Overall, my research did not reveal Beer Kitchen to me, locals recommendation did. Shows that you gotta use your street smarts instead of your book smarts sometimes. Best meal I had in Kansas City.

We dropped into Beer Kitchen on Mother's Day for a brunch after learning that the Westport Cafe had…read moreits reservation book slammed for a month and was searching for an alternative. The service manager saw us eyeballing the menu on the board and answered out questions, then invited us in. My family of four was sat in a booth in the middle of the restaurant with good visibility around the entire establishment. Ambiance was good, considering that its not inherently a family place. Old tap pulls adorn the ceiling and the light is just bright enough to not strain your eyes, but not so bright that there is glare off every surface. I ordered a cowboy coffee (espresso with tequila, very interesting) and a waffle smash burger sandwich. The table got fries as an appetizer and some kind of fried donut thing that I could have sworn was a Zeppole. As always, let's start with what was good... The appetizers were very good. The dips on the fries were both amazingly good. So much so that I used them on my side of fries after the kids ate all the ones in the basket. The waffle smash burger had a good flavor considering I had never paired a waffle with beef. Prices were agreeable for Westport, but its Westport so there is a slight premium. Servers were pretty much everywhere, so it was never too long for any request we had to be taken care of. On the flip side of that, there was a server doing side work dead center of the restaurant which was kind of awkward. I am used to seeing side work done in somewhere inconspicuous so it was just a little odd, but not off putting. Now let's look at the things that could be better... The dipping sauces for the Zeppole were not thick enough to actually stick to the delicious treat. The berry sauce really needed to be reduced further because it was too thin by far. Delicious, but thin. My waffle for the smashburger sandwich was too oily by far. I think this may have been an intentional choice considering that the waffle serves as the "bun" for the sandwich and maybe the oil was an attempt to keep the juice from the burger and the sauces from turning the waffle into mush. It worked... but it did take away from the flavor by obscuring the taste of the waffle itself. My egg was cooked to specification, so that's a win, but my partner's egg was overcooked. Consistency! Very important and yet not guaranteed, I think. The biggest problem I have with the brunch at Beer Kitchen though isn't the food, but the menu itself. There is not any way to construct a decently priced "simple breakfast." If you're not that hungry, or adventurous, you may find the menu difficult to contend with. I would consider adding something like "the Oldtimer" and have it be two eggs, a meat, toast, and fruit. Price it at 13.99 and leave it alone. Overall, the Beer Kitchen is a nice little brunch spot. So much so that we intend on making it a semi-frequent stop for us on days when the kids want to venture down towards the Plaza. 4 stars. Has room for improvement but is a solid experience for what you pay.

The photos looked amazing, and this place has solid reviews so I was walking in with a certain expectation. What was remarkable is how it was even better than I thought it would be. If it's cold or rainy outside you might need to skip Le Champion unless it's not busy as I think only a few folks can really fit inside. The inside is well designed though, and feels charming without being overwhelming. What stole the show for me though was the patio. As someone who studied abroad in France it felt so French to me in the best way. To me, it feels like taking a Parisian cafe and mixing it with a hip KC bar - it doesn't feel necessarily exactly like one or the other, but it compliments both and feels uniquely it's own in the best way possible. On the day I visited it was absolutely gorgeous outside and I had one of the best breakfast burritos of my life, mostly due to their chimichurri sauce. There are also a few other bars and restaurants close by and I often forget about that area as being a destination so, I'll have to go out there more often. It has a nice laid back feel. The inside of the restaurant is clean and the bar area is spacious, it wasn't crowded so I had plenty of space to sit solo for a late lunch. The menu isn't the most inventive, just good old fashioned bar food. However, to me that really hits the spot a lot of the time, I don't need all the frills all the time. They had a good selection of appetizers as well as sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and daily specials. I was craving a BLT. Usually the Peanut is my go-to but I must say Tower Tavern may now take top spot. Especially for the price...$10?! Yes please. Also, I am a sucker for homemade potato chips so I loved to see that as the side option. The bacon was crispy not flabby and sad, it had the perfect salty bite. The shredded cheese made me so happy because it was generously piled on the texture is just nostalgic to me. The tomato was overpowering, sometimes a soggy thick slice of tomato can ruin a BLT for me. I will definitely be back to Tower Tavern to use my Pub Pass and to try some more food. If you're looking for a very solid bar with very solid bar food I would say give it a try! The prices are right, the beer was flowing, and the food was tasty and executed right.
