This is my second visit to this pho place in OP. I really loved the Banh mi I tried in my last visit. I ordered Beef pho & my friend ordered Fried chicken with rice. My friend really loved the fried chicken & rice he ordered. He was all excited about it. Beef broth in the pho was a bit salty and it didn't work out well for me. Wish I have ordered Banh mi again. ;) Not a lot to talk about service. You have to take what you need. Ambiance was neat and clean. Fried chicken with rice - 4/5 Beef pho - 3/5

I'm have been going to Pho Sai Gon for a few years. I love the updates that they have done to the space recently. I always get a small beef pho with egg rolls. There is always enough for me to take half home for another meal. Even when it is busy, there is not a long wait. I would highly recommend Pho Sai Gon for all pho lovers!

Pho is one of my absolute favorite foods, especially when the temperature drops or I am not feeling my best. I swear it has magical healing powers. I've been to Pho Sai Gon a good amount of times. I've been a couple times more recently and noticed a few changes. It is cafeteria style as others mentioned. There is now a conveyor belt for dirty dishes to send to the back. Nice! There are pros and cons to me on the cafeteria style. I like being able to pick my seat and not having a server I feel like I can go solo and not feel awkward. I also like being able to grab whatever toppings (basil, sprouts, jalapeños etc) I want. Downside is sometimes there are a bunch of dirty tables and you have to clean the table yourself. I order the same thing every visit; I need to try more things. I always get the beef pho and egg rolls. The pho is solid 4/5 for me. I really like the egg rolls. They are perfectly crispy. Another plus for me is that there are pictures for all the menu items so you know what to expect. I will continue to frequent Pho Sai Gon. Definitely recommend giving it a try!

No frills good pho. I'm from SGV in SoCal and was close to Orange County as well, so I've had plenty of great pho, and was honestly worried that I wouldn't be able to get any in Kansas City. But my fears were overblown because this place is great! It's a cafeteria style seating - order pho at the front and pay, then choose and clean your own table. Then when your pho is ready you can collect it. You can get lemon, basil, bean sprouts, sriracha and hoisin sauce etc from the bar next to the counter. Workers were friendly! The price for a medium bowl was comparable or a couple dollars more to what I'd pay for a medium bowl in SoCal, but this bowl was more like a large! The portions of soup, noodles, and beef were all generous. It was a lot of food and I think I could get away with a small next time. The flavors were good - nice savory broth with balanced spices. The meat was good too, though one thing to note is that you cannot choose a specific cut of beef (like what I'm used to) it's a little of everything like rare beef, brisket, flank, and meatballs. If you're picky about meat cuts this may not be your place. Another thing to note is that they don't skim off the fat off the broth. This leads to a richer more delicious broth in my opinion but may not be for everyone. I'm coming back when I have my next pho craving - though I may try the vermicelli next!

I heard good things about Pho Saigon, and was excited to go here for dinner when visiting Overland Park, KS. It's a self serve model, so you place and pick up your order at the counter, then clean up your own table afterward. They have such a good variety of Viet dishes that not many Viet restaurants offer. However, we were all disappointed because our orders were lacking of the umami and authentic taste of Vietnamese dishes. What a bummer!

Amazing food and service!!! Hong and his family are all so kind and caring. The food is always consistent and flavorful. The beef babn mi is so good, and their Beef Pho is better than most places in Seattle, WA! If you go you will NOT be disappointed! They also have a veggie bar which is much appreciated. They recently redid the interior and it looks so nice, very open and friendly. 10/10 for food and service!!

The place itself is kind of a get in get out sort of vibe. So I wouldn't say date place unless you just want really good food and your date is OK with that. They have a station to get extra goodies for your food. Very functional. The staff are very kind and helpful. The food tho, that's the winner I had Bahn Mi which I've had before, but it was probably the best I've ever had. And I tried Cahn Bun for the first time and it was so delicious. The noodles kind of feel like noodles everything was so fresh.

Definitely satisfied my pho craving and also loved that they have a lot of authentic vietnamese dishes! Everything was mostly self service. It was nice to get my own herbs and beansprouts for my pho, thought that helped reduce waste. Tables were cleaned, other than that nothing really stood out ambiance wise. Hope to be back to try other things on the menu!

Kind of hidden spot on 148th ish and Metcalf, in between a car shop and a taekwondo gym, is a staple pho spot in Overland Park. This is my to go spot down south! Everything is pretty solid here and it's nice you can grab your own condiments to your liking. Their banh mi sandwiches are pretty good and best when dipped in some pho broth ;). But they do sell out before 5, so if you're wanting to make sure you get one I would call ahead to secure it! Their servings are a pretty decent size so if you order a large I would definitely make sure you're HUNGRY. I will say sometimes their pho broth is better on certain days than others, but still always pretty good consistently.

We did enjoy the shrimp, spring rolls, but were slightly disappointed that the peanut sauce was very watery. The menu had a good variety, but most of the dishes involved pork, very few involved chicken. Tofu dishes were also an option. The chicken pad Thai was very tasty; rather than cooking the dish to a persons heat specification, they just provide extra chili powder on the plate if you wanted to make it spicier. The main reason for the low review would be the cleanliness of the restaurant. On the table were a variety of spices and sauces in various containers, but they didn't look like they had been cleaned or changed in several uses, so we did not use or investigate to know exactly what things were.

Restaurants come and go. I watched one disappear from this very spot years ago. In its place is a Lao family sharing a piece of home with Kansas City. From the moment we walked in, the room smelled of fresh herbs, toasted spices, and slow-simmered broths. Before I even opened the menu, I had a feeling I was about to eat well. Mimi welcomed us like old friends. Instead of rattling off the most popular dishes, she asked what we liked, talked about the food she grew up eating, and guided us through the menu with the kind of pride you can't fake. We started with the Moo Ping and Lao sausage, and both set the tone for the rest of the meal. The grilled pork was smoky around the edges with a savory marinade and just enough sweetness to keep you reaching for another skewer. The Lao sausage was unlike anything I'd had before--packed with herbs and spices and served with crisp vegetables, fresh ginger, jalapeños, and a bright dipping sauce that let every bite taste a little different. For our entrées, Mimi recommended the Pad Kua Mee and the Mee Ka Til. On paper they're both noodle dishes. On the table, they're two completely different stories. The Pad Kua Mee leaned on the quiet confidence of perfectly cooked rice noodles kissed by the wok, while the Mee Ka Til wrapped tender beef in a fragrant coconut curry broth layered with herbs, peanuts, and vegetables that changed with every bite. Then came my first taste of mango sticky rice. Sweet, juicy mango, warm emerald-green sticky rice, silky coconut cream, and toasted sesame seeds. I actually caught myself doing a little happy dance at the table. After we finished eating, Mimi pulled up a chair and shared a little of her family's story. One thing she said stayed with me: every dish is tasted before it leaves the kitchen. Not because they're chasing perfection, but because they want every plate to taste the way their family remembers it. That's when the meal made sense. The food wasn't trying to impress me with oversized portions or flashy presentations. It was trying to introduce me to Lao cuisine the way their family knows it--with care, with pride, and with recipes that have earned their place at the table. I came because I wanted to try Lao food. I'll keep coming back because Khop Jai Der reminded me that the best restaurants don't just feed you. They share a piece of themselves, and if you're lucky, you leave with a story worth telling.

Khop Jai Der is a very small place with tables crowded together that made it difficult to navigate with my current and temporary situation of using crutches. I ordered the Papaya Salad and asked for moderate spice level. What I received looked nothing like my last fantastic salad. Very little sauce, a skimpy amount of papaya, pieces of cabbage that were way too large and a spice level that was way over-board. The female that brought my dish ignored me for the rest of my lunch even though she was sitting at the table next to me talking to her friends. I never got a water refill that I desperately needed and had to get up and maneuver my way to the restroom for napkins after deleting the two at the table because of severe sinus drain. I finally took 70% of my meal to the register and asked for a to-go box. I showed my Hmong co-worker the next day and he agreed that this was not the place to get what I craved. He brought me a homemade bowl of the greatest papaya salad for my lunch today so I finally did find redemption, but it wasn't from KJD. With an almost inedible $20+ lunch, inadequate and dismissive service while my digestive tract was on fire and a claustrophobic environment, I can't find a reason to recommend this place. The biggest let down that I've had in a very long time.
