We thought we would try out a new pho restaurant, and while the flavors of our meal were very good, we're not sure that we would return. We did enjoy the shrimp, spring rolls, but were slightly disappointed that the peanut sauce was very watery. The menu had a good variety, but most of the dishes involved pork, very few involved chicken. Tofu dishes were also an option. The chicken pad Thai was very tasty; rather than cooking the dish to a persons heat specification, they just provide extra chili powder on the plate if you wanted to make it spicier. The main reason for the low review would be the cleanliness of the restaurant. On the table were a variety of spices and sauces in various containers, but they didn't look like they had been cleaned or changed in several uses, so we did not use or investigate to know exactly what things were. read more

I am stuck - the food in this restaurant is okay, but I cannot sit down for a meal there again. I tried take out one time and it was okay. When you walk in, the place is relatively quiet, but there's an unmistakeable smell that reminds me of vomit that lingers in the whole restaurant. I think it may actually be the varnish on the wooden tables, but it's everywhere and overwhelming. The spring rolls were fine, and the pho was relatively well seasoned and they were quite generous with the meat. We recently tried Pho Vietnam under the new ownership and were really impressed. The menu includes Vietnamese, Thai, and Lao dishes, and everything we tried tasted very authentic--like something you'd get from a family kitchen rather than a typical Americanized restaurant. The flavors were fresh, well-balanced, and clearly made with care. It's great to see new owners maintaining the authenticity while bringing new energy to the place. We tried a few dishes here. The bbq chicken was barely has any taste and it's so dry! They use chicken breast instead of chicken thighs too. The house special pho was great and the fried rice was really good too. Just don't order the bbq chicken, you should be good read more

I walked in and was greeted by a large Indian woman with opened toed shoes (at a restraunt?) followed by the small lingering smell of feces on the glass of water and in the store. My only other complaint other than the waitress would be the fact that I ordered "pork spring rolls" and what came out 3 min later was a fat layer of spam. Just spam. In my most humble opinion, Pho Vietnam has the best Pho in Johnson County. I've tried other dishes as well and all have been pretty good. But my favorite dish to get here is their eye round Pho. Their broth is so rich and you can definitely taste all the different spices. Service differs depending on who's serving that day. I usually get served by an older gentleman who's super nice and professional. The actual place is a bit outdated but they keep it decently clean. I ordered food for delivery, so possibly it could taste different if you dine in vs delivery, but overall it got the job done and helped cure my hunger but would I order the same dish here again? For being a self-service - order at the register and clean your own plates - kind of restaurant, Pho Vietnam charges a base fee of $2 more for you to dine-in as opposed to ordering take-out. A good thing to keep in mind if you live nearby. Unfortunately for us, we drove a good 20-minutes (give or take) to make it out here for pho, so take-out wasn't really an option. For a whomping $12.99 for a large bowl of pho at a self-service restaurant, the quality and quantity was a bit lacking. Noodle portions were more like a small in my opinion, and the meat quality was mediocre at best. Not to mention they sliced up the meatballs into smaller pieces, where you'd normally get a good number of halfed meatballs at another local pho joint. The broth was dark brown and a bit salty for our taste. We ended up pouring in hot water to even it out. I will say though, that the self-service vegetable station was the cleanest self-service station I've seen in a LONG while. Place is tucked away behind a Sam's Club. I was initially afraid they were closed when I got there after the lunch rush. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the host/waitress and ordered the Pho with sirloin and a Vietnamese coffee. The broth was spot on and seasoned to perfection. I ordered the Large portion and probably should have gotten the standard. They don't skimp on ingredients and portions. The coffee was served in this adorable percolator and served with another glass of hot water to be able to have a second serving. The only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star was the the side plate that had the cilantro, mint, etc . The mint and cilantro was all stem and hard to maneuver so a lot of it kept falling on the table rendering it unusable for me. So I've been to this restaurant twice and I have to say this Vietnamese restaurant is not bad. I stumbled across this restaurant on google because my mom wanted to eat some pho on a cold day. We were also just in the area. I told her that I'm not sure if there was even a pho restaurant in Overland Park because usually all the pho restaurants are back in the Missouri side. The drive for us to the restaurant is about 30 mins as well which is pretty far. If I'm in the area and craving a bowl a pho I'd come here but I wouldn't make the drive just to get a bowl of pho when I can get a bowl of pho 10 mins downtown. Food: The food here is a bit pricey, but the food is not bad. Let me start off by saying how impressed I was with their bánh mì. I ordered the bbq pork bánh mì and yall, it was that good. The bread was soft and perfectly toasted with the right amount of meat and vegetables. I don't like eating a bánh mí when the bread is extra crispy and hard and all they give you is vegetables and hardly any meat. The pho broth was really good. I do wish the broth was a bit more hot and not served warm. The broth is flavorful enough where you don't have to put extra condiments in to enhance the flavor. I'm not a fan of sweet pho broths. I like my broth salty and savory. They also give you a good amount of noodles and meat. The sugarcane pork dumlets were also not bad. The only thing I didn't care for were the crab rangoons. The crab rangoons for mid. I'll definitely come back to this restaurant again when I'm in area and craving for pho and a bánh mí. Service: Self serve on condiments, utensils, water, vegetables/herbs. Cheap and great, what more can you ask for. Had a big steamy bowl of meat ball and beef pho. The broth was very flavorful and had plenty of it. If you want great, authentic Vietnamese food, this is the place in Johnson County. Me and my daughter love Pho! We love this place too! She gets the tofu pho and I always get the chicken Pho. The broth is the best in OP in my opinion. However, I would caution against choosing the chicken as I found it to be tough and not enjoyable. The spring rolls are awesome and the egg rolls as well. Really the chicken is the only reason i'm not giving them 5 stars. Quick and nice staff. The parking lot is atrocious however and I almost hit about 3 people due to its location. The business has changed owners again, and I have come back. I do love Pho. This place is convenient to my home location so I come here multiple times per year. I don't come as often as I used to. The Pho is tasty, but it does come with pre-cooked meat. When I was introduced to Pho in California, the meat was raw and cooked by the very hot broth. That is the way I prefer to have it served, but you can't find that here in Kansas . I'd like to have it with lots of basil, a few slices of jalapeño and some lime juice. We have lived in the area for 25 years, when you get a Vietnamese jones - this was the place. Today went in, no menu - electric BB, and the hands off approach was disheartening. Maybe a 16 year old at the desk. No soft drinks, all teas and such. Food was frankly meh. Had the vermicelli pho, - the beef was rubbery and the pork had no flavor. Wife had the bahn mi - bread and fresh ingredients were good. Chicken was so dry - like jerky dry. When we went to go out, you have to take your plate to the back and put it away, and when the food came out you had to pick it up. If they make it another year I would be surprised. The beef and seafood pho were acceptable. My wife ordered an ice tea, but it took them quite a while to get it. In fact, they had to brew it up but the people taking care of it seemed unsure of the tea. I preferred my wife just have a soda instead, since it was canned and it seemed pretty suspicious that they took so long making the tea. As it turns out, my wife spent the late evening and all night horrifically sick. Since we had the same diet and ate the exact same things for the past two days, the iced tea was the only thing that was different in our diets, and what she had all night was classic food poisoning. I think they had a fouled tea container and probably didn't rinse it out before making a new batch of iced tea. Owners are just rude. Asked for scissors to cut the noodles for my 3 year olds (which other pho restaurants have done so without any hesitation) and they flat out said no. I gave this place another chance. I think the food tastes better than what I thought it did. I've had the Pho (broth is good, you get a lot of noodles), Nam Neung spring rolls which are fine, sugarcane shrimp wings are pretty good (it's ground up shrimp with some seasonings wrapped around a wedge of sugarcane), the egg rolls weren't bad and I had the Bun Bo Hue which was good to me, but it was my first time ever eating it. The vietnamese iced coffee with milk is also super good! I still think service is lacking, They're closed Tuesday evenings because they don't have enough employees and if you want anything to go they'll charge you and extra $1 for containers and a lil extra if you're paying with a credit card. But, it's a good pho place in South JoCo if you don't feel like driving downtown! read more
