The bun bo hue here is sooo good. I discovered this place last year since it was near our hotel, and I came back again during my recent trip over the weekend. My order here will forever be the bun bo hue. It's the best one I've had, and I've had a lot. The broth has so much depth to it, and the flavor is SO GOOD. I love that their bun bo hue has a lot of sate in it, and doesn't taste just like a clear broth that some restaurants serve. It even comes with the standard pork hock and pork blood, I know a lot of restaurants may omit that. I can't recommend it enough, it's a must try!! It is a little on the spicy side though if you're sensitive to it, but it was perfect for me. The service here is quick, although the restaurant itself is a bit small. I had passed by this place for what seems like my whole life (as a regular customer of Hmart, you can't miss it - it's right across the street). A family friend finally told us it's worth trying out so we ventured inside for once and was pleasantly surprised to find such a homey atmosphere. It has a small mom-and-pop shop feel, which is exactly what you want from a pho shop. Reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I tried to called in my order for Togo but no one answered. So I drove to the restaurant only 1 person was working that the moment. Could use a bit more sodium or pho seasoning to bring that aroma smell but not everyone prefer more sodium. The place is clean from kitchen to dining area to the restroom. Located in Federal Way, this small Vietnamese restaurant has relatively ample parking and shares it with businesses like Yi's Traditional Korean Beef Soup. I went here with a friend on a Friday night and got seated really fast as there wasn't many people. There's a relatively small number of tables inside and it is slightly cramped. But service was prompt and fast, and so were the dishes my friend and I ordered. I got the regular com tam, which had a grilled pork chop, an egg omelette, shredded pig skin and broken rice. First time here & food was amazing. Their Pho broth was very flavorful. Their broken short rib plate was my favorite, the beef was marinated very well and the flavors were coming through. The spring rolls were good, it came with the pork ham which I opted out of but they still put it in there but it's fine, it tasted fresh. This is a mom & pop shop, so service was a bit slow but it was fine to me, food was made fresh and everything tasted wonderful. The space is very small, so they had limited tables probably about 8 tables, seating 4 to a table. We went when it wasn't busy so we got a table right away. When I'm in town visiting mom, this is our new go-to place for Pho, even though the dependable Pho My Chau2 is much closer to home. Pho Trang is small, with just a handful of tables, but I've never had to wait for a table on a weeknight. They serve a very good Pho, with healthy portions of beef, tendon, or whatever we've ordered. The broth itself is very good, with a great, floral/spiced scent and flavor. There's no skimping on the noodles, and you needn't worry about being hungry after you've finished your bowl. During my most recent visit, my ordering the Mi Hoành Thánh egg noodle soup with wontons was a mistake, as the quantity of noodles I received seemed to be half that of the rice noodles in my dining partners' Pho dishes. Although the wontons are good, the broth just isn't as tasty as that of the Pho--and I like more noodles. The next time I feel like straying from Pho, I'll go with one of the Bun-Rice Noodle or Com-Rice dishes I've seen other diners enjoying. The Gòi Cuón--Spring Rolls with shrimp and peanut dipping sauce are excellent. I've ordered them every time I've gone, and I've had them actually delivered to the table every time but one. Downsides in the restaurant are minor, but they should be mentioned: One major callout is the temperature inside, as during the cool evenings their tiny heater just can't keep up. If it's cold outside, plan on wearing your jacket inside at the table. In addition, the owners keep the tables very clean, but unfortunately they use a powerfully scented cleaner on the tables, and you know they're cleaning tables even when you don't see them cleaning tables. Last of all, make certain that they're writing down what you're ordering. Depending on who takes your order, they might not write it down, and you'll miss out on your Spring Rolls, and your sister's Bun dish might arrive at the table 5 minutes after the Pho arrives and they realize they forgot someone. read more

Though it seems like a very modest hole in the wall, a place you'd easily overlook, this place is beyond worth checking out, They serve many delicious dishes, but my wife and I come here for the pho. It's perfectly balanced, flavorful but not overly rich, savory with just a touch of sweetness, in a perfect reduced beef broth with just a touch of fish sauce. I've eaten pho at maybe 20-30 places over my life, and this is by far the best. And at $12.50 for the house special pho, this is a place you simply cannot miss. I mean are you kidding? $12.50? During a four-day swim meet in Federal Way, we ended up discovering Pho Trang, located in a very ordinary strip mall directly across from H Mart. Honestly, from the outside--and even when you first walk in--the place looks pretty average. The setup is simple, and the waitress (who also seemed to be the hostess and possibly helping with food prep) wore a black mask and wasn't overly chatty or outwardly friendly. But then the food arrived. And wow. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and authentic. The bánh mì was crisp and flavorful, the rice dishes were perfectly balanced, and the noodle soups were deeply satisfying--the kind of comforting, clean broth that tells you it's been done right. What really says something is this: we kept going back. Over the four days we were in town for the swim meet, this became our repeat spot. When you travel, you try many places--but when you return to the same restaurant multiple times, that tells you everything. Even better, the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the freshness and quality of the food. This place proves an old truth: some of the best food hides in the most unremarkable strip malls. If you're in Federal Way and craving great Vietnamese food, don't overlook this spot. read more

While I liked the taste, it was quite dry, possibly due to being deep-fried. A dipping sauce might have improved it. Additionally, the menu indicated it should come with four pieces, but we only received three and menu picture also shows a side sauce but never got one. I also ordered the Vietnamese crepes. I wasn't asked what kind of meat I preferred and received shrimp, but there were only a few pieces, and they were cut in half. The crepes were just okay. The food definitely lived up to the hype! Came here for lunch and we ordered the shrimp banh xeo with shrimp (but they gave one with pork and shrimp instead - didn't want to send it back so we just ate it), combo bun, and pho. Banh xeo was delightfully crispy but we could have used a few more lettuce pieces to wrap them. We got total of four lettuce pieces for the entire crepe. The combo bun was flavorful and had much protein and the pho was delicious and full of flavor. The reason for 4 out of 5 stars was due to the error in our food, very slow service, and in general not friendly atmosphere. They also use this wicked strong fabuloso spray to wipe down the tables and they spray quite a bit right next to you eating which was very off putting. If I'm in the area and craving Vietnamese food I would definitely opt for the takeout vs dine in as the food was delicious! read more

It wasn't busy when we got in around 2pm on Saturday and after seeing people post about Bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup) and that it was an off-menu item, I had to try it. The bun bo hue ended up being a pretty good overall dish, it wasn't mind blowing but I would say it was satisfying. It was spicy but not overpowering that you're burning your tongue. My other friend also ordered the same bowl, but the waiter didn't hear it the first time around, so it came pretty late. Therefore, if you're ordering and things don't come out on time, it's a good idea to check with them so you're not stuck waiting for your food.
