Service was good. Food was good. Portion sizes were expected. The pho itself was good. I have no complaints. HOWEVER, we asked for meatball add-on for the pho with brisket and steak, and we got *literally* two meatballs. Huge let down. The banh mi was lacking an extra depth of flavor. The meat in the banh mi was seasoned, but the vegetables lacked flavor, you know the sweet/salty/sour taste you're supposed to get? That was missing with the "pickled" vegetables. The banh mi bread was coasted with straight up mayo. They need to change that sauce, because I've had better banh mi BECAUSE of a good sauce/spread. I also tried their rice plates. Avoid it if you can. My rice was overcooked/dry. It was almost hard to eat. The meat wasn't seasoned well; the teriyaki was missing extra flavor. It was just a bland dish. I could hardly eat it. Luckily, the pho made up for it. It's not a bad place, but it's not anything different from other typical pho restaurants. It didn't "wow" me. Went in for lunch with a friend of mine and it wasnt too bad. We were able to find a table available on a Saturday. I ordered the mushroom pho while my friend ordered the seafood pho. The broth for both tasted okay. It tasted a bit watered down. Mushrooms in the mushroom pho were buttons and it didnt taste bad. It only included noodles and mushrooms. Seafood pho had a ton of clams and shrimp. Seafood tasted salty, adding a bit of flavor to the broth. We both ordered mediums and they were enough for both of us. We were able to eat most of its contents. Overall, we would go here again for a quick meal or if we cant decide what to eat and pho tai pops up on the way. read more

I was happy with the my first experience at Pho Tai and, to be honest, I was a bit hesitant to try this place out after reading reviews. I ordered two large orders of the number 17 and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with how much meat they included! What drew me to Pho Tai was that they actually include tripe in their pho as it seems like it's a bit harder to find places that offer it in the area. And not just that, but how flavorful the broth was compared to other places I've tried. Noodles were cooked perfectly. I had a neutral experience in terms of service with the individual who helped me, which I was fine with as I placed a take out order at the restaurant. We came here for a refreshing dinner after hiking at Mt Rainier. Pho was just ok. My take on pho is that the magic is in the broth, and the broth here was lacking that flavor punch. It tasted very light and diluted. That said, if you like your broth to be super light, then you'll probably like this. Portion size was pretty good, lots of noodles and vegetables! The broth is good the vegetables are fresh enough for me and the service is always great when we call in an order to pick up. Dining is always busy when I go to pick up an order and I'd say it's pretty decent inside and out only con that I do have is that it does seem to get pretty pricey for some noodles. I remember when it used to be 6 to 7 $ for the meatball pho and now it runs about 16 bucks, talk about inflation. Very good! Broth tastes amazing but my favorite has to be the Vietnamese sandwiches! When i order pho i usually get the #1 (steak) pho or the #20 (brisket) pho cause they taste the best for me. I think the pad Thai is a bit weird and does really taste like what i get at a Thai place but it still tastes good. Through the corona virus I've seen them wipe down everything that i use down to the pen so i thought that was cool. My boyfriend and I had been coming here for over a year as it was the best pho we've had in the area. The service was always great/quick and the pho always hit the spot. We made the drive from Auburn to South Hill to get our favorite pho last night only to realize that it must have new owners... We were greeted by a new girl sweeping up the floors (at 8/9 pm) and were told to sit on the right side of the restaurant up against the wall. There were already like 4 other tables with customers so our choice for seating was the two tables closest to the door (and it's literally freezing outside). We've never experienced anyone cleaning a restaurant during their business hours until today. Cleaning should be done after hours... It disturbs the customers and it's unhygienic since it stirs dirt up into the air. We would have just left after being forced to sit by the coldest area in the restaurant but we came from auburn specifically just to eat here so we stayed. We then sat for about five minutes while the same girl just kept sweeping. We saw no other servers. I finally started looking at the other tables and noticed a lady sitting near the register talking to someone and she obviously worked there. She made eye contact with me and then got up to get us menus. I've never had to wait for a menu here before. We would always get menus before we were fully sat down and had taken our coats off. I'm not sure if this woman is the new owner or if she is their only server. The basil for the pho was wilted and looked old. Our pho was lukewarm and the meat never actually fully cooked. This is the first time either of us has experienced pho that wasn't hot enough to cook the meat. The brisket was good, but as soon as I tried the steak I had to spit it out. It tasted very wrong. Not sure if it was because it didn't fully cook or if it was bad or a combo of both. I tried to finish the noodles and broth and just had to stop because it was getting cold and tasted bland. The only thing that tasted the same as before was the spring rolls. Those were good. Everything else was gross. Fifteen minutes after leaving, my boyfriend and I started feeling sick. We both got instant indigestion from eating there. Obviously this place has new owners and is a completely different restaurant now. We won't be coming back again after this negative experience. Any individual with half a brain could take a can of Pho broth from an Asian store and make better. 2 stars, not joking. The Beef stew pho stands higher up with a sliver of taste brewed in the soup mix but substandard meat keeps it at 3 stars. Fast service and fairly well kept dining area are positives. I want to begin by saying that I am solely reviewing this restaurant based on their Vietnamese iced coffee and haven't yet tried their food. I intend to do that next time I am in the area and in the mood for some pho. It was a seamless transaction to place the order on the phone and go inside for pick up and my interaction with the staff was pleasant. I do love a good cup of coffee and always try Vietnamese coffee as my taster for many years now. Pho Tai's coffee was slightly disappointing in my scale. A good Vietnamese coffee should be flavorful where the coffee shines through, the coffee shouldn't be too sweet with condensed milk and the mouth texture of the drink itself should leave your mouth with a nice coating of milk that's not too thin or thick either hot or cold. So based on my own rubric, Pho Tai coffee had a decent coffee taste but it could have been better and the color was lighter than my usual and it was too watery. However, the coffee was perfectly sweetened. I wish the coffee was more prominent and there was just a little less ice. Either way, I am glad to have tried this out but probably won't again. However, I will be back to try their food, from the people sitting there and enjoying their meals, it looked really nice. Try it and let me know if you felt the same about the coffee too. read more

Pho places everywhere, but don't be fooled! They are not all created equal! This place is one of the nicer Pho Tai's I've been to. The seating is comfortable and simple. Word of advice, don't sit by the door when it's chilly outside because the breeze coming from the door is killer especially when people hold the door open! The menu offerings are the same at all locations, so I ordered my current favorite the #32 salad noodle bowl. We also ordered the 4pc crab rangoon and 2 fresh spring rolls. The crab rangoon was extremely greasy, and the sauce was very thin. Once you get past the greasy part (if you're able to) the rangoon itself had a very good flavor. The spring rolls were tasty, although it felt like the wrapper was a little stale and hard to bite into due to it's rubbery consistency. My noodle bowl came topped with an egg roll, which was over fried. The charbroiled pork wasn't so charbroiled, but still tasty nonetheless. Overall, the noodle bowl was tasty but it could have been better executed. I do have to point out though as a plus that they do give you lots of fish sauce to accompany your noodle bowl, and that stuff is mighty tasty. Overall not bad, still one of the better pho places in the immediate area, but could definitely improve on quality and care of food preparation. read more

Pho Tai is a chain of pho restaurants in the greater Seattle area. Being a longtime patron of the White Center location years ago, I was excited to see one down here in Puyallup. The pho is solid, but the broth is nothing to write home about. It is consistent across locations, flavorful enough to want to get again, end nicely aromatic. My go-to is the tofu pho, with extra noodles for my kiddos. It's tofu, carrots and broccoli. Order tofu as soft tofu or you will get the fried tofu by default (if that's your thang). The fresh rolls are just okay. I like that they're inexpensive and the veggies in the rolls are pickled, which gives them a nice kick. The tofu ones come with fried tofu, and it can be sort of tough. The service is fast but isn't very friendly at all. You can almost see them rolling their eyes when you walk in. The music is LOUD and even if you stand way back to look at the menu, they'll shout asking if they can take your order (I'm clearly not ready?) and then disappear in the back when you say you're not ready. Pros: Solid broth Not the worst price (but man I miss cheap pho) Fresh rolls are decently priced Easy parking Good selection Fast service Veggies are nice and fresh Consistent food across locations Cons: Kind of rude service Loud music Staff aren't educated on allergens. Bad bad bad service. I've been coming here for a while now, and the food is good. Just in the last week I have ordered twice with a fairly large bill-no complaints about price. My son, and my husband LOVE the egg rolls, or fried rolls. But that's where it ends. Tonight we ordered a very late dinner consisting of 2 bubble teas, 6 egg rolls, and 1 chicken pho. Our total was almost $45 with a tip. When we arrive home with our food we discovered had been given 6 spring rolls. These are much different. We spent practically $20 just on the rolls alone!!!! I called to ask for our order to be completely remade for the following day, and explained that now I will have to find another dinner option for the current night since they forgot my son, and my husbands meal. The mistake ruined our meal entirely because only 1/3 people had their food... the restaurant absolutely refused. They explained that since they (incorrectly) put "spring rolls" on my receipt that they did not make any mistake. My husband heard me say egg rolls by the way!!! STAY AWAY!!! While waiting to order our food, I watched a server bus a table and while pouring out the used drinks, the liquid ran all over her gloves. Clearing the plates, she touched used plates and utensils with her gloves on. Without washing or changing her gloves, she went back to a counter and began touching another persons order of pho garnishments and touching the to go containers. During this time with COVID, you would think food establishments would take better care with their customers health and not increase the chances of exposing them to any virus or disease. read more

My husband went to pick up the order,and there were many people there. They have him his order and told him the cost(which he thought was low for our order) and off they went to help someone else. Hubby got the order home and we realized they only gave us one pho and springroll. Began assembling the pho, and the chicken was mostly fat! Threw more chicken away than what went into the pho. Normally I really like this place. Made the mistake of ordering to-go on a Sunday. They were extremely busy and only 2 people working. Overheard one of them tell someone it's always that busy on Sunday's which makes me wonder why they don't have more than 2 people serving customers. The gentleman with "manager" on his name tag also told one of the servers to "just not answer the phone". I had called in my order and was told 10 minutes. When I got there, it still wasn't ready. No biggie. Like I said, they were visibly busy. What bothered me was witnessing these two servers go from bussing dirty tables, handling money at the register and then immediately going into the kitchen to grab the ready orders without washing their hands. Saw one of them unwrap spring rolls and place them on plates with their bare hands. I understand being busy, but this was just gross. To make matters worse one of the ladies working in the kitchen walked by, grabbed something out of a bowl with her gloves, and then started eating it. Sent here by a reference from a friend I had no idea what to expect, except of course large healthy bowls of what this guy would call "soup". The place was actually pretty crowded with a mixture of first timers and repeat customers....yes I overheard conversations and am now reporting on them. How can you pass up a pun... The place was not "Pho-gettable" and I suspect we will be returning. Young energetic staff working up front and pretty attentive service. It's tricky finding this place using a GPS mapping system as the "no left turn" limitations, if you are traveling south on Meridian so careful you go, the closer you get. Hint... My family and I have discovered this Pho Tai once we moved to this area. We were coming from a city where there was Pho Tai on every corner, so we already had the best and the worst haha. We're regulars here, that's for sure! The food never disappoints (I'm pretty picky) and that's why we always keep coming back. The employees are so KIND, I have never had any issues with any of them - even the new ones! They're all so good us. I always go for the regular beef steak Pho, a small size is always enough for me. My husband orders teriyaki chicken with rice and salad on the side and we order a side of rice for the little one! These are our go to's for ordering at Pho Tai and it's good!! The reason I give this place a 4/5 stars is because the bathrooms could be a little more cleaner. That's really it though. Everything and everyone there is awesome. Definitely give this place a try and you'll see why we've become regulars. read more

My favorite pho/vietnamese food place in Puyallup! Being a Thanh Brother's fan, I was skeptical of going anywhere else, I mean who else would give you a delicious cream puff after your meal? Not this place, but they make up for it by making delicious broth in the pho and wonderful fresh noodle bowls. What really gets me is how late they are open. I come home around 7pm-8pm and most places are closed by then. I don't really care for eating fast food all the time, so it is helpful to have a pho place that is open late even though it's not near a college town. My boyfriend and I have taken many folks here, and have gone on plenty of dates, even though we're slurping noodles. Try everything, they are all very good!
