This restaurant makes an excellent sandwich. I love their Ham & Egg Banh Mi - two fried eggs and toasty-warm vietnamese-style ham with the usual fixins - sweet quick pickled cukes and carrots, jalapeno slices and cilantro sprigs. It was not the crispiest I've ever had, but the crust was nice and crisp/flaky and the bread was fresh and tasted good. Also, the thin spread of pate was extra yummy, salty and very deep flavor as if there was a lot of soy in it. It was almost like marmite, in an excellent way. Among the best Pho spots in Tacoma. I'm a frequent flyer of pho from strip malls to fancy stand alone restaurants and for me, it's all about what's in the bowl. And what's in this bowl? Short answer; Top 3 Pho in all of south sound. I ordered my goto and it's always the same thing - a large bowl with everything in it - ribeye, flank, brisket, tendon, and tripe add meatball. The garnishes and steaming bowl arrived quickly and I sized up the aesthetics. Perfect. Not overfilled so room for garnishes. Broth a lovely golden brown. White onion and scallion mixed in to the perfect thin sliced ribeye and flank not too fatty or grisly and a nicely sliced meatball. From there, I added the basil removing leaves from stems and most the bean sprouts, a few jalepenos, a dash of black pepper and a dab of sriracha and squeeze of lime. Armed with chopsticks in right hand and Pho spoon in left, I leaned in close savoring the aromatic basil wafting up and commingling with the rich beef and onion scents. And now for the magic moment; I pressed the spoon down atop the generous beef and noodles below, watched the broth flow in and....sip...AMAZING. Wow. I mean this is at least the 30th Pho place I've been to from Ohio to California to Washington and I'm going to say easy top 3 in terms of flavor. Meatballs very fresh as were all meats. I'm sensitive to smell and can tell if something is at all close to expiration and believe me, have come across my share of unfresh Pho. Not here. Also the onion slices were thin but generous which I appreciate and also the perfect amount of green onion. I will be back to update and see if they can impress me twice. read more

Have you ever heard of a pho burrito? Me neither.. but they have one and I'm going to try it the next time I come in. Wasn't feeling too great yesterday and it was cold .. perfect combo for pho. Came into this new pho location.. it was clean, well lite and warm. The man at the front counter was very nice and gave me time to look over the menu. I got the BBQ Chicken Bánh mì which was really good.. flavors were on point, just wish it was a little more full. The pho was good.. I got the #15 which was pretty good. Was not a big Fan, Came in with my husband and 19 month old and they ONLY had one high chair.. so my daughter had to sit on our lap. ...No napkins was left on any tables or utensils. The broth was Okay. Let's say I had better and probably would not come back. Would not suggest for family with small kids if they don't have enough high chairs. read more

I'm going to give them two stars because my past experiences were great. The food was great, no problems with that but my most recent experience (November 8th, 2020) was not the same. I got home ate my Phó and immediately had cramps. Currently this morning same issues. I believe i have food poisoning which sucks because i truly love this place but i will not eat here if i will be at risk for the same thing happening again. Ordered through Doordash. I ordered the potstickers and brisket pho. The potstickers tasted stale and microwaved, so I tossed them out. The pho was pretty sad too, the broth wasn't flavorful and kind of greasy. Didn't seem like they skimmed the fat enough. I have been coming here off and on since they have been open. The pho is always consistently good. I vary between the veggie, meatball and the cooked steak. All good and just depends on what i want at the moment. Pho is about good broth and theirs is above average. Everything is always fresh and top quality. First off my Pho was cold. The raw meat didn't cook through and it was just sitting in a cold meaty broth. The person next to me found a piece of hair in their soup and minutes later, my friend finds a strand in hers too. Had lunch here today was extremely disappointed. The pho here is good, but if you deviate towards other things on the menu watch out. I ordered the chicken & beef combo and was extremely disappointed. The salad was slimy and brown and heavily over-dressed. Rice was okay. The chicken and beef was all mixed together and tasted horrible. I literally took two bites and asked if I could order something else, The beef was tough as leather and the chicken was chewy and nasty. I was told I HAD to pay and could come back another time when the owner was there and request a refund from him. I asked if I could order something to replace it off the menu since clearly I only took two bites, and was told NO THAT I HAD TO PAY. It was clear that the waitress didn't have it in her limited capabilities to figure out how to handle the situation. To avoid causing a scene, I ended up paying and leaving hungry. Best French Vietnamese sandwich I've had! I ordered the combo and it was delicious! (And I'm usually pretty vegetarian).

The entire menu is overpriced and subpar in quality and flavor. I would never recommend anyone coming to this place. I've tried them a few times to make sure they were really this bad and every time I tried something new it was always a complete disappointment. The pho is nothing to write home about, the fresh and fried rolls are overpriced crap, bahn mi is probably the most expensive in town and the BULGOGI... I just don't have the words to describe that bland over cooked piece of garbage meat. It more closely resembles boiled stew beef than bulgogi. Of course that also goes for the bulgogi burrito which is a big pile of crap all rolled up in one. The salads were laughable at best. The biggest difference of all is that after your terrible meal you'll end up paying at least twice as much as even the best places in town. If your thinking about coming to pho tai, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else...ANYWHERE ELSE!! Believe me your taste buds and wallet will thank you. We've have been waiting for this restaurant to open for months and it finally did!! OMG! Tried the Pho and anyone who knows their Pho... knows it's all about the broth and the perfectly cooked noodles. Well...its all about their broth and their perfectly cooked noodles!! So flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, not over cooked, not under cooked. Tonight we had the chicken rice plate, lots of food and delicious! Service is very attentive and pretty fast.
