Easily one of my favorite places to eat at college park. I always go here and usually get the same thing and I am never disappointed. Their pad ki mao is delicious, my favorite thing on the menu. Highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about checking this place out. Their pad thai is also really good. However their pho is just like your average pho nothing special about it. Wasn't pleased with the service they close at 9p and at 7:30 we were told we're no longer serving pho that information is supposed to be reiterated before being served it was very unprofessional. Amazing Pho! My first visit was on Friday, 25 October. I can see myself frequenting this spot regularly, especially during the fall and winter season! This is one of the best pho places in this area. Great portions, great service and great food! We stopped by maybe an hour before the closed and we were seated right away. Sooo where to start... Parking.. parking is a hassle. There is a garage parking but I hate parking in the garage so I opted to parking on the street. I wouldn't advise it because it does say permit parking between certain hours. Service.. I didn't have one bad thing to say about the service. We were greeted as soon as we entered and quickly ushered to our seats soon after. I waited was very attentive. He gave us what we needed before we even had to ask. Food.. The food was great!!! We ordered the shrimp rolls and shrimp pho! Shrimp rolls were crunchy how i like them and the pho was hot and full of fresh shrimp!!! This was my first visit at this establishment but it won't be my last. It's called Pho Thom (translated to Aromatic Pho), so you have to try the Pho right? I got the Combination (Dac Biet), and they give you a lot of meat! You will not run into the situation where you are just eating noodles and broth. They also give you plenty of veggies (thai basil, mung bean sprouts, jalepenos, and lime although I could have used more lime, I should have asked). I do wish they also had the spiky cilantro but I think that might be hard to find around here. The taste of the pho is the best in the immediate area hands down. You'll have to head to NoVa for better pho. I came in as a group of 10 at lunch time and everyone was served in a timely fashion without any mistakes while the place was packed. Picked up pho, a beef and veggie, one of them was large but the actual amount of noodles was about a 1/3 of my hand... so pitifully small! I can't believe it was a "large" size. Having lived in College Park for years, when gentrification wasn't at the doorsteps and you didn't have the fancy eating options at the new luxury hotels, Pho Thom would always save the day for a nice, sitdown, non-pizza, non-Chipotle option. It is decently priced, has friendly, timely service. Good pho, good curry (green and red are great). I also enjoy their chicken satay that comes with a good cucumber salad. Despite the additions to the food scene and newer locations like the Whole Foods plaza near Riverdale, I still go back to Pho Thom, rather than the Thai place in Hyattsville, cause it is conveniently located near the UMD campus and has a more authentic, non-chain vibe. read more

I ordered the P-3 (Pho with slices of eye round steak, well-done flank and soft tendon). This was my first time having Pho and while not being a huge fan of red meats I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The meat was tender though slightly bland, I think this by dipping it in their assorted sauces. The broth was savory and delicious. I ordered the small bowl and it was still too much for me, they are really generous with portions. I came with three friends who ordered the wings, spring rolls,and pad kee mao and they all liked their meals as well. The service was very quick and the atmosphere was cozy as well. Love at first bite. I have traveled up and down Baltimore Avenue even to Beltsville dodging traffic trying to satisfy my need for a healthy yet hardy Pho fix after work. My sister and I both spotted this place a week ago and had this sort of mental telepathy on Friday and said let's go here for lunch. The Pho with beef broth, Nam tender sliced flank, with the onions, scallions, sprouts, chilies, and lime was "the business". A small bowl runs you about $6.50. The Thai chicken wings are fried and smothered in a sweet sticky red sauce, we split those. They also offer Vietnamese coffee and a decent standard Thai menu as well. This restaurant gave College Park a two-in-one, because there are not a lot of Thai or Vietnamese restaurants located in this area. The service is quick and friendly, the space is cute, small, and nicely decorated, not your typical cafeteria style soup kitchen. So dining in for us was pleasant. Parking is available in the Knox Rd parking garage next to Ledo's Pizza. I am so pleased to have Pho Thom close by where I can call in an order for pick up on my daily trek home. This is truly a great installment to College Park's budding restaurant district. Now I could end my review with something real cliche like I'm Pho Real and this place is Pho Nominal, but this time I think I'll spare you. read more

We order here often and I typically order the pad see ew with chicken. The last few times, I tried the curry fried rice. The first time, it was excellent. The last two times, the pineapples have tasted sour. These orders were not even close together...maybe 4 weeks apart. My oh my has College Park changed. I mean I did go to college here, but I barely recognize anything anymore (and probably a good sign, cuz back in the day, it was lame). So for Mother's Day, we were in the neighborhood and I managed to coax my mom into this restaurant. My mom does not get that I am VEGAN now. She always offers me food with tons of eggs and milk secretly mixed in. Sigh. FML. My mom and I could not be more different when it comes to food. I know, really weird. In any case, we actually both approved of this place. She started off with some spring rolls and she tried to get me to eat some and insisted that I could eat it even though it had pork and shrimp in it. Clearly, my mom is from another galaxy. I ordered a tofu basil dish minus fish sauce. My mom got the shrimp and squid eggplant. We both enjoyed our meals and were pretty happy with the food. I was just a bit bummed that they didn't have any brown or rice. They also don't carry any salads despite a section called "spicy salads" on the menu. I was very confused. Also, no green papaya salad. Major fail. This place is not that vegetarian friendly, Maryland likes their meat. That's why I escaped via the Underground Railroad to the North. Also, no dessert. I was surprised to find this quiet, nicely decorated, little restaurant on a busy strip in College Park, among college bars and pizza and wing joints. Their menu is pretty lengthy, and has a variety of both Vietnamese and Thai dishes. I haven't tried their pho, but was really pleased with their Thai food. The shrimp green curry came with lots of string beans, eggplant, and 5 or 6 large shrimp, and was creamy, rich, and very spicy (like I had requested). The curry fried rice was really tasty and not oily at all. The pad see ew was well seasoned and savory with broccoli and chicken. I wasn't very impressed with this place. First of all, I was looking forward to District Dumpling, but apparently the place is closed. So we went to Pho Thom instead. Wasn't very happy but, didn't want to walk anywhere else either. Yes, I was forced to walk to find food. Food: 2.5/5 stars. I got a large P-3 which included Well Done flank, Eye of Round and tendons. The broth was alright, but had a bland after taste which was quickly covered up by sriracha sauce. Yum! The meat was well cooked. We also got the Chicken Satay. Some of the pieces weren't cooked all the way through. Yep, slightly raw chicken, not a good sign. The peanut sauce was greasy and unappetizing looking, but the cucumber sauce was yummy. Probably won't be getting the Chicken anytime soon. Service: 3/5 stars. They were really packed but it's also a small restaurant. Maybe 15 tables max? the waiter took a REALLY long time to come get our order which is surprising since most Vietnamese restaurants want you in and out ASAP. The food came relatively fast and they didn't ignore us completely. The waitress there was also very nice even though she wasn't our waitress. But at least she greeted us nicely and said good-bye to us nicely. .5 stars more just for her. Decor: 3/5 stars. It was nicely colored and I kind of liked the open space and the front desk even though it was plain. I think because the outside was so dingy looking that since the inside was somewhat nice, I was happy. Or it could have been the fact that I had to walk 20 minutes to get to my food and I was happy to sit down to a non gray colored table. Overall, I'm giving it a 3 stars because I wasn't really offended by the raw food and the Pho really wasn't bad. I may not come here much, but it doesn't seem like a bad place. I've been back since my initial visit (and review) and I've come to like place. It's a short drive from my office and it's become my go-to place whenever I'm craving some pho. Now I'm nowhere close to being a pho connoisseur, but I've had their pho a few times now and think it's pretty darn tasty. I also appreciate how they package it to-go, since I always call in and take it back to the office.
