It was especially my favorite place when I was pregnant as I'd also get the coconut juice that had the meat from the coconut too. I absolutely loooove pho! This evening I had the veggie pho (minus tofu), the chicken egg rolls and the fried chicken. The pho was super fresh and the chicken egg roles were delicious! The chicken was a tiny bit fatty and didn't have the crunch I was looking for, but the flavor was good. This location is on the UMD campus. We got there around 5:30, by 6:30, it was packed. So far in my search for traditional, reasonable, and quality pho in the DMV, this is my top contender as of now. The service was nice and quick, once you order the pho, its a seamless process. I love the touches of the paper mats and the simple tableside selection of hoisin or sriracha. The menu is also written in Vietnamese, which is not hard to understand there is an English translation, but I love it when resturants do it because it keeps some resemblance to the homeland the owners are from, and that unwavering connection to the home is what keeps the spirit of the food so good. The pho came made to order and pipping hot. They really have it down because their broth was clear, rich, and deep in flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked and retained its bight til I got to the end of the bowl. The selection of meat is also authentic, and a lot of pho menus in the DMV shy away from organ meat, but its what makes pho so delicious and varied in texture so I was so delighted to see it on their menu. My daughter said Pho Thom is a well-known spot near the UMD College Park MD. We easily found the restaurant and parked at the nearby CVS lot, just a one-minute walk away. Pho Thom recently reopened in a newly renovated space. The design feels modern and clean, with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. The owner warmly welcomed us and shared that they've been running the business for about 15 years. They moved from their old location to this beautifully updated space. We ordered a bowl of Vietnamese beef noodle soup and a shrimp Pad Thai. I've tried pho at other places before, but the broth often tasted too heavy with MSG or seasoning, leaving my mouth dry. After eating at Pho Thom, I didn't feel that dryness at all. The broth tasted light and fresh, and I could tell they used healthy, high-quality ingredients. My daughter also enjoyed her shrimp Pad Thai, it was flavorful but not greasy. This was the best Vietnamese beef noodle soup I've had in over 20 years. Pho Thom is one of my go-to take-out spots. A mix of Vietnamese and Thai, I highly recommend the P-2 and P-7 pho options, their grilled lemongrass pork (with spring roll) over either rice or vermicelli noodles, and the Pad See Ew. I've never dined in mainly because parking is a little difficult, but it's always very busy whenever I stop in to pick up my food. While I can't speak to the dine-in service, the hosts are as attentive as they can be for to-go orders when it's very busy. I've been looking for a place with vegetarian pho that also has other vegan options. Pho Thom's menu fit the bill. We had deep fried vegetable dumplings, pad thai with tofu (no egg), and of course pho chay. It was all texturally good but lacking flavor. The dumplings came out first and we enjoyed their crispyness. The sauce was salty and bland so I added Sriracha. Delicious! I had the pho. The jalapeno slices that came on the side added heat but the depth of flavor just wasn't there. Five or six pieces of very hot fried tofu decorated my bowl but they were so bland! (Solution: dip in Sriracha. Solved!) My daughter had the tofu pad thai. It was almost tasty but needed more something. Or more everything! We finished off with mango and sticky rice. The coconut milk sauce was just the right amount sweet and the mango was perfect. Prices were average and the portion sizes were reasonable. Service: This was a little rough. It was busy, but we did see our waitress walk by and look over many times without checking in or refilling (or offering to refill) water. We had to ask for the sauce caddies that tend to come with the food and tables. I will say the owner or manager was very on point. She made space by pulling one of the front desk dining tables they were using to set carry out orders to combine with another so we could sit together (about 5 of us, so more than a 4 person table but not anything huge). When she saw the waitress hadn't cleaned the table well before we were seated she was sure to call her back and finish the job. Overall, I recommend Pho Thom. My family and I have been coming here when they visit since I moved to the area five years ago (and even when I just had been flying in and out looking for a place to live). This updated review is based on my most recent takeout experience. I ordered a small pho (#4) - extra spicy. I specified that I wanted extra jalapenos and extra sriracha. The guy who took my order said ok and asked if I wanted extra cilantro as well. I said no but I could tell he didn't quite understand. I got home excited to enjoy my pho but I was disappointed. No extra spicy nothing was included as I had requested. They put the brown sauce and sriracha in one container so it was mixed up together...ugh! I don't even like the brown sauce. The meat which wasn't much was inside the extra salty broth. Maybe they thought I wanted my broth extra salty! This was my first time trying their pho and it'll be my last. Came in on a Saturday night, it wasn't packed and parking wasn't easy. Luckily we were able to find parking meters near by. Thai and Viet... I was curious to see what was on their menu, there were popular dishes from both countries but I was there mainly for the pho. Got the p1 which is just pho with round eye steak. The broth was nice and hot, but the flavor wasn't there. They were not skimpy on the meat which was a good thing. $10.95 for a large bowl that didn't feel like a large. The bro had the Tom yum soup and he said that was alright. Doesn't look that spicy. Came back just a few days after my first review to try our their pad thai. It was pretty tasty, so I was satisfied with it. Portion size was about right, and I don't really have any complaints about it. It gets its 4th star for seal of approval on their Thai fare. I did have one tiny issue, and that was when my friend ordered her bowl of pho. It was Friday night, so the restaurant was a bit fuller than when I visited last Tuesday, but they didn't have any condiment caddies for us. Luckily, I knew the people at the table over and asked if they were done with theirs, but I was a little confused as to why they didn't have enough caddies. The restaurant wasn't completely full, and I don't think everyone had pho, so I got this weird impression that they only had about 3 caddies? XD BUT but, food was still very good. Consistently excellent food!! Their menu has a spectrum of Vietnamese and Thai food, and it's all good! A very good asian restaurant in College Park. Their pho is very good and I always order the garden rolls. Also, recently I ordered the pad thai with shrimp and it was very delicious. The people are very friendly and they wait on you quickly. Food has always arrived hot (pho) and in good timing. I really enjoy the thai iced tea and once in a while I will treat myself. Boo Boo and I came here for a quick Lunch/Dinner before the Rutgers-Maryland game. We each got a bowl of pho and shared a beef over rice dish and iced coffee. They weren't busy mainly due to Thanksgiving break I suppose. The food was averaged compared to other vietnamese places. I didn't taste enough of the cinnamon, nutmeg, and anise flavor. But, the food came out hot and fast. I think we were very lucky that there's a lot of restaurants nearby the campus. We were able to walk from the visitor's parking lot.
