Has the main Thai dishes, like pad thai, pad see ew, and spring rolls. - Quality. Pretty good. The wide rice noodles of my pad see ew were delicious- chewy and well-seasoned. Came with a good amount of tofu, veggies, and scrambled eggs. More savory than sweet. I ordered medium spicy and I could taste a slight kick. - Portions. Good value for money, especially given the portions. For under $20 for one dish, I was able to get full and not stuffed. - Service. My food was ready based on the estimated time. Last time I reviewed this spot, it was called Tara Thai. Under new management, Siam Thai is definitely better than its predecessor! We ordered chicken pad Thai, basil fried rice with pork, and pad see ew with chicken. We'd order all three again in a heartbeat- though the take out containers were a bit small (though I think that's the new normal), they were filled to the brim, with plenty of protein, and the price was fair. Please note that I asked for "mild" spicy basil fried rice. I can't tolerate much spice and it had the perfect amount of heat. They cater to your spiciness request and I'm appreciative! We can't wait to return and try some of their other dishes (namely the duck dishes (Tara Thai didn't have those, at least that I recall)). read more

We ordered food the food came and gave us on the table 5mints later they gave me the check told us we r closeing soon we had take home our food. They even charged me service charge 18%. Water was given without no ice no spice tray nothing was available. one of the worse place to go. They should return my service charges to my credit card. As many times I've passed by this place, I finally decided to say "Why not". The food presentation wasn't bad, the taste was great, the restaurant was very clean with great customer service from the lovely staff. My only issue is that for this small portion, I paid around $22 for seafood fried rice. It felt like a free trial. I have another place that has a similar dish (Shrimp, Crab Salmon Fried Rice) for $25, and let me tell you, it'll last three days max. That's how big of a portion they serve you at that price. My friend had been raving to me about how good the Pad See Ew is here, and that they can make many of the dishes that normally aren't gluten-free to be gluten-free. We came to eat here in person and upon looking at the menu, I was worried that I wouldn't have many options to choose from because the menu didn't list tofu as a protein option for any of the rice or noodle dishes. But I asked if the Pad See Ew could be made with tofu and they said yes, so I asked for that to be made gluten-free and with no egg. And it was one of the better Pad See Ew dishes I've had. Maybe just a tad on the saltier side, but it wasn't too bad. Lots of tofu, too, so I'm glad they didn't skimp on the protein. It was on the quieter side so it wasn't crowded and service was quick. I was a little puzzled by the decor inside - it was just barely February and they'd already put up decorations for Easter. Just amusing to see. read more

Met up with an old friend for early dinner at Siam's (once Tara Thai). I have ordered take out from there a number of times but this was my first time dining in. Cute location with a few lounge seats and a bar, though I'm not sure if there's a bartender. Initially we were the only ones there while folks came in and out picking up take out. As it got later, I could see our server was certainly getting her steps in as she took orders, answered calls, brought over drinks, etc. But she never lost of composure and kept a smile. Our food came out promptly. We shared the green veggie curry and veggie pad thai and both were good. I favored the pad thai, sweet but I liked it. Miscellaneous needs were a little slow ie needing new silverware, getting the check etc but again, had limited staffing. Would be back though. read more

The basil seafood fried rice was so spicy that it over powered the whole dish. I wasn't able to take the layers of flavor in this dish. I like spicy but this was another level of spice. The crab fried rice was on the salty side and could've used a side of a sweeter sauce to cut the saltiness. The portion size was good and the presentation was good as well. The staff was nice. We ordered to go the following: Shrimp pad Thai, chicken Tom yum soup, Siamese beef, and crab fried rice. Overall 3/5 stars for a few reasons. First, everything tasted on the sweet side to the point that we put the crab rice and the beef back on the stove and had to doctor the flavor. Also, the crab fried rice was too wet and needed to be dried out (who wants soggy rice?!). Third, the soup was also on the sweeter side with minimal chicken. Got panang curry with +$4.00 for scallops. There were literally 3 small scallops in the entire curry. You can see I've eaten a good amount of the curry, but I was saving the scallops for last. Just because you see a Thai restaurant, doesn't mean you should stop there. I did my due diligence like I normally do, I looked on Google and of course I checked Yelp for reviews. I didn't notice that they didn't have a lot of reviews recently but I did see some pictures. The Establishment I was going to was across the street and I didn't like anything they had on their menu so I decided when I get some time? I had been craving it for the past couple weeks. I raise them in you a few times and I didn't see what I normally order, they're drunken noodles so I was trying to determine if I should go ahead and order it. I looked at the menu one more time and noticed that they didn't have it headlined as drunken noodles but instead as.. and I was relieved and called to place my order. I saw a fellow gelper recommend the wonton soup and knew that I would go with that as well. No one answer the phone when I called originally so I went ahead and got off my car and walked over that's my event was starting soon. When I walked in a gentleman came up less than 10 seconds and took my order and apologize for not answering the phone. My food came out rather quickly and I proceeded outside at a table to eat. The first thing I noticed was a lack of color in my dish. The second was that my shirt had tails on them still. The third I want on food had reconstituted garlic pieces. You know that dried minced garlic and the container? Yeah, there was tons of in the soup. See the picture. It lacked a lot of flavor and basically just tasted of chicken broth with garlic.  The Napa was crunchy though and I did appreciate that. I was so looking forward to sipping my soup up to my face but unfortunately I closed it back. With my Showtime fastly approaching, I tried out on the rest of the.. I realize I wasn't asked for a spice level but it seemed to be mild and I was okay with that.  I did appreciate the burst the flavor I received when I've been to a tomato the constantly having to use my fingers to take their tails off the shrimp was extremely displeasing. The waitress was nice. The Arnold Palmer could have been sweeter but I guess that's the universe telling me to cut back on my sugar intake so I didn't complain. In fact I got a second glass. One thing though. The guy delivering the food kept coughing really bad and not covering his mouth as he entered the kitchen area. This has been our go-to place for Thai. Today's order was a bit sub-par, hoping it was an off-day. I ordered the Tom Kha soup, which comes with chicken standard, but did the $2 up charge for shrimp. There were only 2 shrimp in the whole bowl. Considering this is a substitution not an addition (that is, no chicken), this seemed pretty chintzy. Finally, some decent Thai food in Hyattsville! It has been depressingly bad until now. The change in ownership from Tara Thai to Siam Thai thankfully also came with new and better recipes, if you like real Thai food that's not deliberately made to be blander for American audiences. I asked for spicy, and it was actually spicy! Great version of Khao Soi, which can be hard to find and they even use drumsticks like they do in Chiang Mai, where the dish is from. Ahh, Tara Thai. Adding an additional star because you make pandemic take-out so easy! And, I recently discovered a great mod with their Penang Curry (10.99) and Green Curry (10.99): you can MIX THEM TOGETHER to create a custom Two-color curry! Yes. You heard that right: Two-color curry! It's an impressive alchemy, and once you try it, you will not be able to resist doing this every time you order from Tara Thai. Because both of these curries are generously saucy and flavorful, I recommend that you supplement your Two-color curry with some additional protein of your own (I pan fry an entire brick-worth of medium tofu cubes), and a half a head of sliced & stir-fried cabbage. And voilà! Now you have 3-5 meals worth of deliciousness, jump-started by Tara Thai curry staples. Your custom curry goes great with home-cooked farro or some firm brown rice. The white rice that Tara Thai provides is a bit too glycemic for my taste, but the brown rice substitution is a reasonable $1 - which is the fairest price you'll find in the area for this. Thank you, Tara Thai! Still love the Tom Ka Hed (4.99) and Tom Yum (4.99) soups and order both every time. Now get curry mixin' and get cookin'! read more

This was previously Tara Thai, and I used to loveeee the food. Since new management and switching chefs the flavor is not the same, and the portion sizes for to go orders have gotten smaller. Also, it's hard finding Pad Thai that's more on the brown side in color than orange/red. Tara Thai made it more on the brown side therefore more of a savory flavor, but now under Siam Thai it's more orange red and therefore sweet not savory. read more

Solid Thai restaurant. Came here on a Sunday at around 1:30pm because the wait for busboys and poet was too long. There weren't a lot of people here so we got seated right away. Stopped by for a quick dinner because I had the taste for one of my favorites Thai food. I just picked up my car from being serviced in the area and with rush hour traffic I wouldn't be getting home anytime soon. I am very familiar with the area but it at all. But good ole' YELP led me there as it was a mere 1 mile away! I have been here for a lunch twice a few years back but totally forgot it was there. As I remember I was very impressed that the food was exactly the same that I remembered. The Spicy Seafood Fried Rice (some Thai places call it Basil Fried Rice or Kapow Fried Rice) was amazing and the portion was HUGE! Lunch tomorrow!!!! I'm allergic to seafood so they did mine chicken only and it was there in 10 mins flat. The $3 wine and $4 martinis and margaritas for happy hour help ease the taste of my smoking hot & spicy meal. 2 drinks, a delicious hearty meal with leftovers, and a $20 bill!! Who can beat that!! This place used to have the best thai food. Used to. They completely switched up the way they make their food. They made the portion sizes smaller, and for some reason they started adding bell peppers and red peppers to the Ka Pow beef. Why they would do this is beyond me. I used to take out here at least 2/3 times a week. However, after my last visit I will not be back. The service is great the people are extremely nice. But the food has fallen off unfortunately. I actually used to really enjoy coming to this Tara Thai but something must've happened because everything has been taking a very long time- to wait for the pick up order, to get the food when dining in, etc. Still giving this place 3 stars because the food can be pretty good. I said can because it's a hit or miss nowadays. Sometimes the food is very flavorful and good. Other times, it taste bland and/or don't really even taste like what it's supposed to. My colleague and I came to this place after small business assignments we have. I ordered drunken noodle chicken from the lunch special. It turned out to be good and great. Cannot complain anything on it. The special lunch includes a drink and side. I had unsweetened ice tea along two pot sticks. My colleague got Beef massaman curry. She enjoyed it except the stewed potatoes had the flavor of cinnamon which doesn't strike her much although the beef did. Did a take-out order earlier today. Got my usual Thai favorite - drunken noodles with chicken (extra spicy). It was ok - not the most flavorful and to be honest, not worth the price! The service was good and ordering was easy. I called in and they took my info and sent me texts with updates. Won't be my go to Thai place but it was nice to try someplace different!
